updated devices (firmware .15) can't get cm12 since Motorola patched the bootloader unlocking in the update, so i have the same question, looking for porting or something like that

Go to amazon, ebay, something like that, and get yourself a new phone that did not take that update.

That's what I want to do. But how do you know? Would any new phone not have the update?

Nothing they can do now. As long as RSD exists, you will b able to unlock/root.

As long as they fix the screen glitches and the mini freezes I've been having I don't mind it.

Not sure if it applies to the RAZR but with my Electrify M it was not possible to RSD back to 4.0 after I OTA upgraded to 4.1.2. I would be cautious of a bootloader lock with "no way back"
you think this had anything to do with the recent Android malware scare?

They can solve the unlock exploit for people that haven't unlocked yet. RSD can only do so much.

Exactly. If you are worried about unlocking either do it now or don't take the update for a while to see how it all plays out.

Yup, I just talked my wife into letting me unlock her M. I said I would let like to just in case they fix it with this update. She doesn't use any custom roms but still agreed.

Well I for one am excited to see they are still developing on our device. From what ive been reading the droid razd hd and hd max are also getting this update. With the last update Motorola said it wasn't a android update too but it actually was. Hopefully it is this time too.
From what I read on droidrzr.com, this release is just bug fixes.

You are correct, its just a MR for bugs, not sure if I should install it or not. I mean, what could it hurt? I am already unlocked....

I've seen in several places that this update will close the unlock and root exploits. However, if you're unlocked already, it shouldn't re-lock, but it will eliminate root. Why did you unlock, if you're still willing to take OTAs? Just wait for the update to make it into dev's hands, and they can release a "safe" version.

http://www.droid-life.com/2013/07/1...the-kernel-exploit-for-unlocking-bootloaders/
Using RSD to get to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 should allow for the bootloader to be unlocked again (since its just a kernel fix)
Sad to see we wont be getting official 4.2 anytime soon.
[/COLOR]It is not possible to downgrade the devices once updated unless the bootloader is already unlocked, therefore that won't work.

But you cannot go backwards from 4.1.2 to 4.1.1, that is what I understand.

Just bought it!!!!

Hi guys,
Just bought this a half hour ago. I have the G2 so I already know I want to root it. What should I do? I haven't turned it on yet. I'm guessing it will OTA once I do. Is that bad? Should I root beforehand? Any advice is welcomed!
Just turn it on, it wont take the OTA unless you tell it to.
Cool. I heard you can use ioroot 25 with 4.4.2. So I'm upgrading and I think I'll root then.

That method worked for me. Tablet is now rooted and TWRP custom recovery 2.7.0.1 installed successfully. Can't get any ROMs to work well, but I already have a thread on that, so I won't hijack this one

I know I could, I just don't know what's safe to freeze and what isn't. I know there's a Malladus 4.4.2 coming and I think Jakeday debloats it a little.

Hello @MitoTakatori
Have you tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/mod-lg-camera-port-stable-f50-t2598999 ?
I use it with Pace Plus 4.4.3.
If it is not exactly what you want you could request @Jishnu Sur™.
Maybe he has some spare time to port it.

If you want to stay with LG I would suggest flashing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706750. Seems once you accept the factory update a lot of people have issues rooting and switching to different roms. Congrats on your purchase and enjoy it :good:

4.4 as long as you realize that you may run into issues with the sd card depending how you use it. That goes double if your not rooted because most of the helpful utilities require root.
It's a cracking tablet either way.
I went from a Nexus 7 to a G Pad.
I stuck with stock and upgraded to 4.4.
I'm very happy with it.
I may consider root in the future depending upon storage.
Thanks for all the feedback. I have gone to 4.4 and the tablet is great very happy with my purchase. thanks guys

It is the build number/letter for Lg. So 10C is the first official build and 10R is the newest all three are kitkat.
Thanks guys. So, I'm on CM12 so it wouldn't apply?

well you will still want to keep up with the modem and after the rpm is tested and proven to be safe to flash you will want to keep that up to date as well. So what ever stock L ends up being (probably 1 followed by some random number some random letter or 20 followed by some random letter) you will want to grab that modem at the very least. rpm is for power management so it is also usefull to upgrade that. Just make sure it is safe to flash the rpm first because it also holds some of the magic lg uses to lock devices.
