[q] busybox not installing on htc desire 820 - Desire 820 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am rooted my htc desire 820 after that i installed lucky patcher after that i try to installed busybox which is necessary for lucky patcher, but busybox unable to installed, somebody give me solution for this.

Wait for S-OFF Tool
Since this is a relatively new model, developers haven't figured out how to bypass HTC's Security Kernel. When you boot into Fastboot, you will notice that it says 'S-ON' at the top of the screen. Given time, developers will release a tool allowing you to bypass HTC's security measures and you will achieve 'S-OFF'. I'm sorry to say, but until you have achieved S-OFF, you won't be able to make optimal use of your rooted device. Kindly wait and allow developers to work their magic.

Hey bro thanks for your reply, hope developer finds some good solution for new device to bypass security. One more problems I face that when ever I try to use freedom app or Busybox installation my mobile gets restart. Is this because s-on?

Although I can understand your eagerness to make full use of root priviledges, try to understand the situation first, the freedom engine requires Busybox which is a custom binary that allows the user to make modifications to the kernel's command line which can prove to be destructive for your device if you do not know what you are doing. HTC's S-ON Security kernel prevents the user from making drastic modifications to the command line and rejects the installation of BusyBox. This is why your phone restarts constantly.
The Firewater S-OFF tool you speak of is a discontinued project that does not officially support HTC Models that have launched recently. Although you are free to try whether the tool works on your model, it is a safer option to wait for a developer to post a verified source, which will take some time. My advise is, if you are willing to risk turning your phone into an expensive paperweight, go ahead and try the firewater tool, otherwise, try to use the phone normally till someone posts a verified S-OFF tool. Its a new phone, spend some time with it, get to know the features of the stock rom, I'm sure it's worth waiting for a couple more weeks.

Desire (Bravo) - HTC Shipped Android 2.3 - Let's unlock the bootloader

Hi,
a few days ago, HTC released a developer version of Android 2.3 for the Desire on
http://developer.htc.com (they changed the developer web site now and maybe it isn't available any longer).
Fact is: Everyone who installed this ROM is currently unable to root it or downgrade it again because HTC added a new locked bootloader.
This thread is ment to work together to find ideas how to unlock the bootloader again.
It's known that HTC announces the official bootloader unlocking for all devices already. But nobody knows for sure, how long this will take and I bet here are a lot of people who don't want to just do nothing and wait for HTC to release it.
So, let's begin. Maybe there are also some advanced members who can support us.
At first the questions:
- How is the bootloader lock implemented (does it just have write protection or is there encryption involved)?
- How were bootloaders unlocked in the past?
And last: Even if we don't get far, it's worth a try! And we will gain important experiences. I personally love this.
I like the idea. How about xtc clip? Would it work with this boot? Or maybe we can write a petition to htc or do the while fb thing when they changed their mind and get us gungerbread. U would not mind even paying to get it unlocked.
Im sure if all of us donated to alpharev or unrevoked and get them to start working on it asap its possible?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Why not wait for either alpharev or unrevoked or both of them to release something. They do support out device so I don't see why they wouldn't try to find a way to unlock the new hboot.
I spoke to htc support and by looks of things our device is not on their list for unloocking bootloader, so we might not be lucky.
I guess wait for alpharev or unrevoked to come up with something.
So no one knows if xtc clip would work

This page has an upcoming link to download a boot loader unlocker from hTC.
I would find it rather surprising if they have made an exception in this program for just the Desire. Why would they?
Not from that page but go to your htc repair centre and they will downgrade. Im waiting on confirmation from the repair centre

Maybe htc thought like this: "do you people want so much the gingerbread update? Ok you will get the update but, as you wish so much it, you can't go back to froyo anymore! F** you and ur gingerbread update and go buy some new htc devices"
Regarding the bootloader there is a team that create super locked bootloaders, a team that is creating the web tool to unlock it, and the htc head boss that say "htc sensation? ok super blocked bootloaders and possibility to unlock it via web, htc desire? hm ok only super locked bootloaders, we don't need spend to much resources for an older device, .."
Just kidding..But htc should really change its politic!

I can't really see how letting the desire get unlocked by the tool is “spending resources”, rather is it spending resources to omit a phone model, from what I understand.
Even more strange would be if htc pays good money to the service centers (here in Sweden at least this is third party, and not htc firms) to unlock boot loaders if they could have a web tool do it!

Well, every device is little different, have a different bootloader, different versions...That mean more people have to work to create, test, document it..In addition they will have a lot of people that will have problems doing it, so much work for the customer service again only for an older device (from their point of view)..Of course not only htc is like this, every producer want you to buy their new device..

I am quite convinced that the boot loader lock is pretty much the same for all devices and they just have to include (or exclude) the spec for all models.
They do not have to hack it, after all, they have written the source code themselves!
ok
so, can anyone confirm that unrevoked or any other group is working on it?

No offense against the guys that write these toolkits to make it "easier" but, stay away from it if you can, you don't really learn anything by using these toolkits.
That said,
Try and unlock the bootloader manually, as shown once when you sign up to htcdev.com and follow their instructions to get bootloader unlocked. OR
You can go for Sunshine S-OFF ($25) it roots, unlocks bootloader and gives S-OFF all-in-one.

It technically only temp-roots. You still have to fully root using a custom recovery or adb push. However, once the bootloader is unlocked, that is fairly simple.
I would actually suggest that as an upgrade, though. It would be nice if, at the tail end of the process, Sunshine would offer to permanently root the phone.
Hi.
Now I unlocked the bootloader manually and installed twrp as custom recovery. After this I installed SuperSU over twrp to get root.
*//
All works fine, but I have a little problem.
Now i cant take screenshots. If I try, I get the message that no screenshot can be taken because the app can´t save them.
Does anyone have some ideas how I can fix it?
//*
Fixed "Created a folder called screenshot1 and delete the other screenshot folder. Once it is deleted remove the "1" so it still only Screenshot."
Additionally, I want to make the SD-Card writeable for all apps, has someone a link to tutorial?

The SunShine developers haven't released a mod for the HTC Desire 820. If you install the app, it tells you that the SunShine database does not recognise the phone's model. We need an alternative to this. Somebody please test Firewater S-OFF and post ASAP. Even I am stuck with perm-root but no busybox, no bloatware removal, nothing. The phone just restarts on account of the S-ON.

[Q] HTC one M8 OTA update issue lollipop

Hello all,
I am new to all this, techy stuff, and have recently bought a htc one m8. I had it rooted for me, but I didn't want to pay for GPE. I then found out Lollipop has been released, and tried to get it by going into software info on settings, but I couldn't get the lollipop update, as my phone says 'Your phone software is up to date with the latest version'. I realised that because of my root, my phone wasn't on the same channel as it was on before. I found another way to get lollipop, but that meant buying sunshine for $25. Is there another free alternative? I thought I could unroot my phone, then reroot it, but I do not know how to unroot, get update then reroot. Can I please get help?
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist, in order to help you effectively I need to know which variant of the M8 you have please.
I have the gsm version
Ok, so it's not carrier branded at all?
no its not.
Going back to my question, i have actually found out my fone is on s-off bcus i had to unlock bootloader to root, meanin my fone is rooted with s-off. However, i would like to get gpe on my fone so i can get lollipop. Only issue is, the other methods do it on a normal htc one m8, not on a rooted htc one m8. Are the nethods the same meaning i can use the normal gpe conversion methods on my prerooted htc one m8, or do i need another method?
Thanks for the extra information, I'm actually asking you these questions for a reason, XDA Assist isn't a general technical support section so I needed to know exactly which variant you have in order to have this thread redirected correctly for you.
Please standby while we have your thread/question moved to the appropriate sub-forum for your device.
For future reference you can find your device sub-forum here (bookmark/subscribe this):

Within that section you will find a dedicated q&a sub-forum (this is where your thread is going to be moved to):

Unlocking your bootloader doesn't make you S-Off. Boot into your bootloader to check.
To get into bootloader, turn off your phone. Then hold down the power button plus vol down till your phone boots back up. You'll get a readout there that will tell you if you are S-Off or S-On.
If you can confirm that you are S-Off, I will guide you to converting your phone to GPE.

You can't use moonshine. The ONLY way to get s-off on this device is sunshine.
Yes, Sunshine, V3. And you are better off without the 5.0, if you want to S-OFF. Sunshine will most likely work on 4.4.4, and issues will appear while trying to S-OFF the Lollipop.

yeah delete all superuser binaries, or return to your original stock backup that you made before messing around with root
I have got my phone on bootloader, and I have a custom recovery file. However, I cannot seem to enter recovery mode. As I go to 'HBOOT' then 'RECOVERY' it shows the htc screen, but then it loads back to the bootloader screen. I have tried getting Hasoon's Toolkit and going into bootloader from here, and I have also tried getting a bat file and running that on my pc with my phone connected to it, same result. However, before this problem occurred, I had a message pop up, but this happened only once. This is what the message said:

No image!
Loading … ( OP6BDIAG.nbh)
No image or wrong image!
Loading … ( OP6BIMG.zip)

After this, when I tried to go into recovery, the issue had then first occurred. Any suggestions on what to do? I have tried using a toolkit, a bat file, doing it through bootloader, and getting an app. Also, how can I clear my cache through bootloader?

HTC One M9 bootloader unlocking

Hi, I currently have a Samsung GS4 and I am pretty pissed about how it doesn't have an unlocked bootloader. I was wondering, if I can run out to Verizon now and buy a HTC One M9 if I can unlock it and install cyanogenmod 12 onto it (eventually). WIthout buying a special verizon, is this possible?

Nope. Vzw doesn't allow boot loader unlocking. You will need to wait for sunshine app to update or seek out a user who has a Java card. @bschram is your closest user that has one.
So I cannot use HTC Dev website, and does sunshine require root to use it, and what is this http://venomroms.com/sunshine-s-off-for-the-htc-one-m9-released/

Verizon has HTC block their devices on HTC dev. Non vzw devices are fine.
Sunshine doesn't support vzw m9 or even the m8 if it has the latest os yet. Sunshine for the non Verizon m9 requires unlocking boot loader through HTC dev.
Make sense this time?

Yes, It does. But just to be sure, will this ensure a full 100% on unlocked bootloader and if it needs root to root it, how will it start doing that?

On the vzw m9 sunshine support will come when they figure out how to enable root and flip the s flag off all in one shot.
Your other alternative is to buy the phone and send it to a user who has a Java card. That process involves putting a special card in your SD slot and running see commands. You will end up with s-off and bootloader unlocked with that.

With a NON Verizon HTC m9...unlock your boot loader through HTC dev....then you run sunshine to get S-OFF...once there you can do whatever you want...flash custom roms already rooted....stay stock Sense and flash whatever supersu you need for root...basically the world is your oyster at that point...lol
Verizon M9 should eventually get there (sunshine S-OFF), but until it does the java card S-OFF is the only way...and there are plenty of fine fellows here that can assist you if you so choose.
With that method..after you are S-OFF...you can run an adb command to unlock your boot loader and then from there the same as above.

Only problem you will have afterwards is finding a Verizon CM12 ROM. Because as of now, this is what we have to work with...nothing. And from what I've heard, cm is no longer unifying devices. All I'm saying is its gonna be a bit of a road. However, if you don't mind waiting and running a sense based custom ROM for a while, then get it and have @dottat unlock everything for ya! I'm actually about to send him mine!
I don't know if any of you guys have heard of towelroot, but it only works for kitkat samsung devices on verizon, it might be possible that geohot will release an update for lollipop s5. and maybe someone will adapt that to fit the HTC One M9.
