The best snartwach to use with a suit? - Moto 360

I've been thinking about buying the Moto 360 for a while because it's, imo the best looking snartwach to use with a suit (I work at a bank) since first reviews were not very good. With all the updates it had and after all this time what are the main functionalities that we can do with it at the moment and the main grips you're still having? Should I wait for another snartwach to arrive?
Cheers

Well my suggestion is to go with the Moto360 with the stainless steel band or if you could get your hands on the uniband. My 360 doesn't get noticed as easily as a smartwatch because of the round face which is good but the LG G Watch R does the same thing but that wouldn't blend well with suits since it has a sports watch type of face.
In terms of battery life it was horrendous before updates but afterwards it can easily last 24 hours with tilt to wake on. I'm assuming without tilt to wake you can go for 36 hours or more.
The ambient screen feature drops it down to about 10 or so hours so if you think that's its worth having your screen on all the time but dark to a point where its very hard to tell time in most situations then go ahead and activate it.
The one thing that I'm the most affraid of when using the 360 is the possibilities of the back cracking. One search in the forums will show you pictures of people cracking their watches from normal use. Most of the time it is due to custom watch bands but not uncommon for it to happen on the leather model. Thankfully I haven't heard much about the oem steelband equipped watch cracking.
If the moto360 is not your style then you can always go to the zenwatch but the con is that it's square (not watch looking) and the fame color can throw off any custom band you may put on it. Only problem I have with that is its You can wait until the LG releases its premimum watch and decide from there or if you want wait until September or so when the updated version of the moto360 releases

Thanks for your input, I really like the design of the 360 but battery life is not good and the ambient Mode destroys it, from what I've been reading. What about the LG Urbane?

I personally can get 2 days out of mine. I have the steel bracelet in silver, it looks really classy and works with everything (as it is both minimalistic and sportslike.
Go with the right watchface and you're done.
http://wearfaces.com/simplism-watchface-by-vanboosh/
Or : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pskstudio.elegancewatchfacefree

But you have ambient Mode always on, meaning, you have it always showing the time?

The moto 360 doesn't have an always on time mode like some of the other android wear watches like the lg g watch. Coming from am lg g watch I was really disappointed in that. The screen is also more pixellated than I expected. And the black bar on the screen makes me only use black watchfaces otherwise the black bar ruins the look. However, all those faults are forgiven if you love the style. I have two generation of pebbles and the lg g watch and the moto 360 may be the least practical of them all, but I really love the way it looks. Even though it's a bit chunky on my wrist. I considered waiting for the huwai watch but in the end decided the moto 360 looks better. If you really like the look of one style vs the other, you won't mind the drawbacks. Keep in mind you will very likely upgrade as new generations are released. The next generation will probably be leaps and bounds better.

Yeah, I do prefer the look of the 360 but the LG watch Urbane looks nice as well and because of the amoled screen lasts a full day, from what I've been reading. It's also sharper and has a full round screen. Have you seen it?

Not in person, but I've seen pictures of it. The amoled screen would be a plus (except maybe outside), and not having the black bar is good too. It's not on my radar because it looks too manly, I just don't like the way it looks (I'm a woman). The moto 360 with the thin metal strap is less weird on a woman's wrist; it looks a bit like a boyfriend watch. But if you like the lg urbane and can afford to upgrade in 6 months, get that now and then get the next gen moto 360 in the fall too! It will almost certainly have better battery life in the next gen and maybe amoled screen too.
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA Premium HD app

Yes, your right, it does look manly. The 360 looks a mix between something classic and something futuristic and I love it. If you have it, how do you feel about having a watch that is a black screen most of the day? I also have a thin wrist, doesn't It look too big? What about current functionalities?
I would love with the new mono link metal band available with delayed shipping on Motorola Moto maker site... Looks better than the other metal bands IMO.
The only two questions now are: - when will the new metal band be available?
- when will the LG Urbane be available?

Those are good questions. Maybe the availability is what will make your decision. I prefer black screens anyway and probably would use the same watch faces even if that little black bar wasn't on the bottom. I don't like that the time is not always showing. If you like both watches equally, and the urbane keeps the watch on always, I suggest you go for that. But if you like the moto's style more, you will forgive it that fault. I am wearing the moto instead of my pebble or lg g despite the moto needing to "wake up" to show time. But I haven't had it long enough to know if that will really bother me. Right now there is no perfect smart watch on the market so we can choose to live with some drawbacks or we can choose to wait at least 6 months and probably more like 2 years for the technology to mature. I choose to not wait. I didn't buy it initially because it was so big and thick, I don't know if I just got accustomed to the size, or if the gold watch and thin band makes it seem smaller, but I like it. The band you want only comes in 22mm size. The slim bands are 18mm and sized to barely fit my wrist, but come with four extra links. I don't think they would fit most men, you should visit a best buy and try a display model if you can, before you buy.

My 360 easily lasts two days, but I rarely have the need to stay awake for 2 days at a time. Also, I rarely have the need to stare at my watch face all day so I don't need it to stay lit up all day, or for two days at a time.
Two relatively moot points when you think about it logically.

Reportedly, the Urbane will not be using Android Wear

No, there are 2 versions, the Urbane and the Urbane LTE. The LTE version will use LG operating system which derived from webOS

I wear a suit 6 days a week. My moto360 does me good. Compliments from clients every day.

Thanks
How is your battery life and which watch phone and band do you use?

I got a Nexus 6 and a moto360 black with black pebble link band. I only use the 360 for messages and to tell time. I turned the brightness all the way down and turned off the health stuff. I usually get home with 30-40% life left after 10-12 hours off charger.

I looked at some photos of that particular band and don't really like it. Can't we buy other band on a regular watch store? I really like the look of the new mono link metal band but don't really if and when it will be available in Europe...

I have a Moto 360 and I like it but was hoping for more features. Not being able to make a call through the watch is a letdown, to be honest. And the vibration seems a little low, I miss some of the notifications...Also, framerate*seems a little choppy at time, even with the last 5.0.2 update.*I demand more, I really hope future Android Wear updates make it a little more interesting.

Depending on the model itself, it can be really classy or just passable as a professional device. Either way, it doesn't give off a tacky look that would look out of place when worn with a suit, unless you're wearing a color that obviously doesn't match. The metallic band versions seem to work pretty well, but I don't think the leather bands are that bad. If you are on the fence, though, I'd probably wait for the next iteration of the Moto 360, which has been in the rumour mill for some time to come out in 2015. Especially given that the Moto 360 has a few production or design issues like the backplate being prone to being broken easily, I'd definitely wait.

Current Best buy Smartwatch?

Greetings.
With me recently finding out about Samsungs new Galaxy Gear, i started looking into smart-watches again to see how they have progressed. I cant say i was particularity impressed with the G-Gear, especially given its bad battery life. I then found out about Qualcom's Toq, which seemed alittle better, but still felt like the Gear with its "i want to replace your phone" design. I think both of them rely too heavily on the touch screen and are trying to do too much, or rather, taking over too much functionality away from the phone.
After digging some more, i found the Pebble. Although i could see room for improvement (would like to see it in a metal frame and a color e-ink screen), it seems to mostly fit what i am looking for in a 'smart-watch'. Psychical buttons that can be used with gloves on, and an accessory, instead of a 'new device that happens to talk with your phone'.
Now, my main question is, is there a better quality smartwatch out there, that functions similarly to the pebble, or is the pebble pretty much the best thing at the moment in terms of simplicity? The $150 price is a smudge high, but i would consider it. The $299 price for the other two is just insane.
Thanks for your opinions and input.
The Kreyos meteor might be what you are looking for. It seems like they are going a step above the Pebble watch. I am personally waiting for the Google Gem to be announced before I decide on what watch to get.
samsung galaxy gear is only made available for samsung product.. i wouldnt really recommend that if you decide to go for other brand of phones..
i would recommend Sony Smartwatch 2 for that..
However, i don;t really see the point of getting a smartwatch? thats just my opinion... Perhaps you could get Pebble as its cheap...

My main point of getting one, is music control while im riding my motorcycle. It would be useful to change tracks and such without pulling my phone out (which requires unzipping my jacket, then unzipping the pocket it is in). It would also be a lazy convenience to do that while im walking.
Going back to the bike, i think it would be the only way i would know im getting a call/text while riding due to it being attached directly to me. I couldn't answer it right away, but i would know one came in so i could pull over and respond if needed. This is also why i wanted the psychical buttons, as i wear riding gloves, which make it pretty difficult to use a touchscreen without removing them.
However, to your question, i dont doubt that piratical smartwatch use is pretty situational and in most cases is just a neat toy.
Oh, smartwatch is not a neat toy. Once you start using one - it will become a part of your lifestyle. Just think about how many times a day do you pull out your phone to check if you got email? Or how many times you take your phone out to see who is calling? Or to read a text message? Or to switch a track on your music player? Or when you are in a movie theater or during a meeting and phone is on mute while you missed a call? Or when you are at the game or in a crowded place and you missed a call? Or when you walked out of the car or restaurant or home and left a phone in there? The list can go on and on. Smartwatch becomes a remote extension/display/notifier that resolves all these problems above just by glancing at your wrist.
I have an older MetaWatch smartwatch, and I can't imagine a day without at work or at home. Plus, it saves your phone so many time when you don't need to pull it out all the time. Not to mention the phones are getting bigger and bigger. Even with a decent case on my Note 2, I'm OK during the summer, but when winter rolls around and I have to reach out through layers to get to my phone - forget about it.
Now, with all the choices you have to be careful. Smartwatch has to be water/splash resistant. Watch is meant to be worn outside. You get into the rain, or forget and wash dishes with it or get splattered around the pool - it's done! Also, with too much tech in the bracelet which is not replaceable - you bump it, and your screwed. That's why I'm crossing Gear off my list. Pebble, HOT, Agent and Kreoys are toys in comparison to all the upcoming stuff. The one to watch out for is Omate TrueSmart http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...t-water-resistant-standalone-smartwa?ref=live and Sony SW2. In my opinion, Omate is the only way to go right now. Never mind that you can put your GSM sim card inside (although that will drain your battery), it a pure rugged android experience on your wrist with out of this world support and a number of XDA community jumping into development already. Not to mention an outstanding spec:

That watch looks kind of overkill really. Im not really looking for a 'phone away from my phone' in a watch. Just an accessory to my phone, that offers me easier control over my phone. The buttons on the side are promising, but until i know how i can use them, or if i can use them to control apps, they are worthless. A major selling point for me in a smart watch, would be that it wouldn't be reliant, or heavily reliant, on its touch screen. Basically, if i can have it on my wrist, while music is playing on my phone, and all i have to do is hit a button to advance a track, without looking at the phone, then that would be a major selling point for me. Having it show me incoming calls and texts, while vibrating on my wrist for notification is also a major plus. Everything else is just fluff to me.
On another note, i really dont see the use or point of putting camreas on these things. Its a major waste of space and another point that it can be damaged. Aside from a microphone (and maybe a speaker), the only external feature i think would be neat would be an LED light aimed out the right side (not the top, as that would be awkward to hold your arm up just to shine a light). Though the problem with that is with putting buttons on that side, theirs not really any room to put it.
Would also be nice if they could make a round one, and not all of them be square. but thats just aesthetics for me.
With Omate when it comes to smartphone, it's really an afterthought since you don't have to put sim card in. Regarding music player, I'm pretty sure they will have some customized control where you can just swipe left/right to change the track or maybe map two buttons on the right side. The camera is just a bonus, and it's very discrete, not just like that Gear-bump.
From what you describing, you probably would like the MetaWatch: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332764 - that's the one I'm wearing right now. BUT, as much as I like it, I wouldn't recommend it to you in comparison to everything else that's available or coming up. MetaWatch (from Fossils guy) was fantastic, but they dropped the ball on sw support, relying on community edition software developed by users. That software was developed for older firmware version, and once MetaWatch firmware was updated - community edition software didn't keep up with it.
Can't wait when Omate TrueSmart will be available on the market. I started to dream about android-watch after trying the old iPod nano with wristlet.Sad that apple stopped manufacturing it.

Yeah, its not as fancy as other upcoming smartwatches. MetaWatch is over a year old project, with Fossil guys behind it's design. One thing for sure, its super durable and highly visible in any direct sunlight because of its reflective display technology.

Anyone Coming from Moto 360/LG Watch R to Asus ZenWatch

hi, wanted to know if Anyone Coming from Moto 360/LG Watch R to Asus ZenWatch !!
I am currently using Moto 360 and purchsed Asus ZenWatch, will decide later if I want to keep both or sell one..
How do you like the zenwatch compared to Moto 360? I borrowed my friend's moto 360 to check it out for a week. It's pretty useful.

Mine in transit, will be getting in 1week!!
i have a silver 360 and yesterday the zen watch for my wife was delivered. random first reactions:
-zen watch screen smaller than the moto - hello bezel
-ambient mode on the ZW is brighter than the moto and stays on all the time unless its charging.
-quick release deployant is nicer than regular clasp.
-ZW charger is soft touch material and snaps onto the watch. usb port is on the side so the cable end points up while charging. would be more elegant if used with a 90-degree adapter. moto charges easier.
-charged the ZW full at 9:30 last night. wife played with it until about midnight. then it sat around until 6:30 this morning when i plugged it in to top it off for the day. ZW still had about 75% battery. So ZW battery probably lasts 2+ days with ambient on
-asus included some extra software for like remote camera, wellness center and some other stuff. the asus remote camera app works on the moto
-ZW vibrates to let you know it lost connection with the phone....i use Pear to do the same on the moto
-ZW lets you cover the watch to mute phone calls...i swipe to ignore on the moto
-ZW $50 less than moto
-ZW has a SOS thing where it sends a preset message to any specified number along with location info
-ZW has no light sensor, so manual brightness settings only.
-the asus commercial showed a sweeping second hand on the stock face...its now a ticking second hand and i see no options to change it...

i like my silver 360 with the custom band, my wife likes her zen watch with the stock band. she actually has the black 360 for the past week but decided immediately, based on looks before even turning on the zen watch, to return the black one to costco.

all commercial I have seen also show sweeping seconds hand - did you checked with Asus on this???
even the Reviews quoted the same - "The ZenWatch comes with tons of clock faces, which display when the watch is in ‘hibernation’ mode. We particularly liked the analogue face, with a second hand that moves seamlessly around."
As a watch nut, I like the Moto360 in theory. But after discovered the Zenwatch on this forum, I couldn't flip it faster.
Tonneau shape just has that look appeals to me (Zenwatch), having said that, I think the Moto360 usable surface is greater.
Both works fine as far as the Google Now. I think Zenwatch edged out with the companion app features.
Still too soon to tell as I just got the Zenwatch handed by UPS this afternoon. I see definitely more fashion possibilities on the Zen though.

360 for a week, samsung s for two, sony sw3 for one, get asus today
Weii--I returned the the 360 and the SW3. I have and will keep the samsung s. I am testing out the ZW, should get it delivered later today if there is not another snow delay. I think I returned the 360 and SW3 mostly due to limits in android wear. But I wanted to try the ZW---its companion apps, and its looks, might compensate some. I also read somewhere that some person thought the google now voice commands worked better in ZW than 360 (a mic/speaker difference). I really like the samsung s sand am definitely keeping it---but it cannot make appointments and reminders---everything else on it I find to be much more useable than SW3 and 360. Glad to share any other impressions.
I just got my ZenWatch 2 days ago and I'm returning it. The notification vibration is far too weak. I barely feel it. And the battery life is mediocre, at best. With 'always on' checked and brightness at minimum, it dropped 50% in only 3-4 hrs. And I wasn't 'playing' with the watch at all. Just sitting there waiting for notifications that I couldn't feel vibrating...

I agree with everything you're saying, however I would give the battery a little while longer to settle in. My moto 360 took about a week to settle in, that update also helped considerably. As of right now I'm getting the same battery life as you though, which so far is pretty damn disappointing! Really hoping it starts settling in soon, otherwise this is going back and I'm getting the 360 again, this time with metal band.
UPDATE: Actually, after thinking it over a bit more clearly, I'm only really disappointed in the initial drain down to 50% being so quick. Even still, mine lasts a good 16 hours or so, so far. Which is pretty damn good and I think can only get better. Please excuse my initial response, I work second shift and just woke up. Brain was still a bit foggy lol [emoji1]... I probably won't be returning for the moto 360, after actually tallying up the hours I've been getting so far with this watch vs what the moto was when I had it.
The only reason I hadn't already bought a 360 was because the ZenWatch was announced just a day or 2 before I planned to order the 360. So I was very much looking forward to getting this. I was totally biased when I first put it on my wrist.
I can live with the battery. I have a SmartQ Zwatch that I've had for a year that lasts about 36 hrs on a charge. I'm fine with a battery that only lasts a day. I don't wear my watch at night when I'm home anyway. I can charge each night. But I just can't get past the weak vibration. If I'm doing anything more physical than just sitting calmly, I simply don't feel it vibrating. This Zwatch I have can be heard vibrating from across a quiet room, it's so strong

If I'm doing anything more physical than just sitting calmly, I simply don't feel it vibrating. This Zwatch I have can be heard vibrating from across a quiet room, it's so strong

Yea I hear ya... It is pretty weak, but I actually kinda like that it's not too intrusive. I don't like it when they are too strong and I'm getting notification after notification... And personally, I haven't missed a notification yet. But everyone is different.

I decided to keep my ZenWatch after all. I'm hoping a software update could fix the things I don't like. The main reasons I decided to keep it, and not trade it in for a 360 are the ZenWatch's Snapdragon 400 chip vs 360's OMAP chip. Just based on that, the 360 was outdated on the day it was released. And I prefer the look of the ZenWatch. Plus the ability put on any standard watch band without the need to snap on plastic accessories is a big plus. I got 2 new watch bands yesterday for the ZenWatch that totally change the look in just a couple minutes. A brushed stainless steel band with an interesting link pattern and a black leather band with white stitching and a brushed stainless steel buckle. Both look really sharp and match the watch style perfectly.

Here's the black leather. I have to take the steel strap to a jeweler to get a couple links taken out.

I finally got my Asus ZenWatch and I am sending back my Moto 360.
Benefits or PROS of Zenwatch over Moto 360:
Latest processor and there is NO lag what so ever as compared to Moto 360
Better VOICE Recognition
Coz of square screen - more apps working
Better Battery Life, one full day easily with heavy use with screen ON, moderate 1.5 days, less usage can give you 2 days
Comparatively Thinner profile than Moto 360
Cheaper than Moto 360
CONS:
Charging is bit of a pain if you are coming from Moto 360
If you own a MotoX2 phone, is there any reason to "lean" towards the 360 rather than the Zenwatch (do the two together do anything you couldn't do otherwise)?

[Q] Wait for 360 II or buy the first gen?

Main question really is, how much do you guys estimate the 360 II will be? I am considering buying the 360, but want the next gen when it comes out. Problem is, my price max is $250 >.< should I buy the first gen or wait till the second?
Would depend on your expectations. I've had mine for two months now and am very satisfied, despite it being a version one and all.
With the latest update, I'm stunned to get as low as 2% drain per hour. As always, if you get tons of notifications and you keep looking at the time, YMMV.
I turn it off every night, so with my average drain during actual use, I am able to get at least three days with every charge.
I think Motorola has already optimized battery consumption and I don't think there will be a miracle with battery technology that will be revealed at the CES next week. Truth is, the only way to improve battery life on smart watches would be to put bigger capacity ones, which is anathema to most. I wouldn't mind having a chunkier watch chassis myself, with my predilection for robust looking mechanical watches of old, but I don't think that would be the way to go as far as smart watch makers think since that would lessen their appeal to women or people with small wrists.
I say if you can afford it, now is as good a time as any to jump right in - the water's fine.
I just purchased the LG G Watch R last week, and am happy as well with its manlier vibe, it looking like a traditional chunky sports watch. It has a beefier 400ma battery and I average a little below 2% drain per hour with it. I alternate between the Moto and the LG everyday, do I end up charging both only once a week since I turn each off at night.
As for the next versions, I'm thinking Motorola and LG will likely announce their next versions not during the CES next week, but most likely by spring, and then release by summer onwards. The two watches are still new and it wouldn't make business sense to dampen demand for these in the interim.
I find myself in the same situation as you. I can't really say how much the 2nd gen 360 will cost -- most likely its price tag will be based on what Samsung, Asus, LG price their watches.
I expect the 2nd gen line of android wear watches to come out in 2015. What I plan to do is to wait until the next gen is released. If there's not much improvement in terms of design, batt life etc., then i might go for the 1st gen 360, its price will most likely drop significantly when 2nd gen is released.
Also, i want to point out that the batt life for the 360 in particular can be improved by using a LED screen instead of LCD one, and upgrading the TI OMAP processor to a more modern, battery-conserving one.

The 360(V2) won't see the street until the end of summer assuming that they release it around a year after the original. So you have to ask yourself if you really want to wait. If price is an issue the price for a used 360 will probably be at or below $100 after the new one is released. So will the next version be worth the extra $150 or so, especially when cost is a driving factor?
I don't think the next version will be that more expensive than the current version since Moto has been moving them at a good rate.
I think the hardest part for you is the wait for the next version... can you do it? If not, just run out and pick one up.
Wow faster replies than I thought

I like the LG G Watch R. Problem is, I am a really skinny male :/ so having a big chassis is a no go haha. I'll be looking forward to CES (Through MKBHD. He is my source of tech >.<) hopefully they show the moto 360 2. TBH, I did not know the battery is that well on the watches. That is awesome news.

Darn. That long? I was expecting Q1 of 2015. If the watch is an extra $150 then I probably will not buy it. The moto 360 as the 1st gen is already really good and meets all my expectations already (Including chassis and software design >.<)

Wearing the LG G Watch R today. Like I said, I alternate this with the Moto 360. I have medium size wrist. I don't feel it's any chunkier than my mechanicals, although most of my mechanicals are 44mm or bigger.
This would surely look out of place on a female wrist though.
I've only had the 360 for 3 days plus and have reset it 3 times as i was messing with apps and stuff. The battery life on the 360 for me is between 12 to 18 hours which is fine cos I've expected to charge it everyday like what i would do with my phone. The overall feel of the 360 is good with good weight and solid build. I was using the Galaxy Gear (1st Gen) so it's a big difference for me.
If you have already budgeted for the 360 at the current price, i would suggest you to just get it and enjoy it. Yes you can wait for the next version which by the time it's available to you, 3 to 6 months would have past and by then Moto would already be preparing for version 3. The thing about tech is if you like it and have budgeted for it, get it while you still feel the excitement to do so. Once you lose that excitement, whatever the price maybe, you will not want to get it anymore.
This is just my opinion and again, get it only if you have already budgeted for it.
When 360v2 comes out... Will you be waiting for v3?.... Tech moves fast...
If you like it and have the money, buy it and enjoy... No regrets.. Actually the best gadget I have bought in the past 2yrs

My 2 issues with the current 360 is the processor (ancient) and the back cracking issue with what looks like a design flaw. I got the 360 2 days ago but may return and wait
I took the plunge and gotten this lovely watch. I don't power off it every night but so far based on my standard usage, I charge the watch every 2 days with my phone.
As for V2, is all nothing but rumors and speculations only.
This watch is pretty new and Android Wear, currently in the market, no one knows where it will take them to. Given Moto usual slow release time frame, I suspect V2 might wait for a year + or 2 years before seeing light of it. Hehee
As for hardware specs, I think is fine but then since the current Android wear software is very well optimize, I think it is good until the next version of the Android wear start to weights it down ><'''
Yeah I hear you. I did decide to return the watch and wait for the 2nd gen of the moto 360. I really liked teh watch and took me a few extra days to make up my mind. But almost a 5 year old processor in new tech, I just couldn't get past. I'll wait 6 months or so and let Moto make a complete watch (do it right with a more current processor, better back and and oled display). I really liked the watch but i can wait.
Just bought mine today, snagged the silver with metal band, got to car and immediately returned it.
Exchanged for a silver finish and bought the tan leather band. Haven't worn a watch in years and so far the fit and functionality have exceed my expectations. I was on the fence along time about Android Wear, but after a co-worker got one and after seeing all the awesome faces I took the leap. I stumbled here on searches for version 2, thinking I jumped to early, honestly don't care...I'll enjoy my version one, unless version 2 has a better screen. Only "complaint" is the lack of a higher definition. I still grabbed this over the new ASUS.
So Is there any news about Moto 360 v2?

[Q] Should I get one?

Hi,
I'm hoping to buy an android wear smartwatch soon but I'm torn between the Moto 360 and LG Urbane. I'm leaning towards the Moto 360 mainly for the larger screen and wireless charging. But not 100% keen on the bottom bar even though I know it's needed and the design can't work without it but does spoil the design somewhat though some watch faces seem to work well with it.
I generally prefer the design of the 360 over the Urbane, though screen is slightly better resolution on the Urbane thought would prefer the bigger screen. I just want to know what the Moto 360 is like to use daily and if the bottom bar really is much of an issue and would you rather get the Urbane?

Not much of an issue to me.. I guess its personal. I realize something that I prefer in the Moto 360. In comparison to the LG watch R, the cards in it tends to get cut off, which it will not happen in moto 360.
Just got a black one yest from a closing radio shack for 125. I already have a pebble steel, but i kinda like the android wear exp.
I got one today. I returned a pebble steel with a broken button. I've had it for a few hours now. I will be returning it this evening and getting another Pebble Steel. If I can convince them to give me a full refund, I might wait for the Pebble Time.
When I brought the 360 home, it was at 12% battery life. This was to be expected. I was able to turn it on for about 30 seconds before auto-shutdown. I set a timer. It took 2 hours and 33 minutes to fully charge. It immediately wanted to upgrade after turning it on and completing setup. (v5.0.2)
It has been 4 hours and I'm down to 27%. Granted I've used the watch more than I normally would as I get used to the menus, but this is not acceptable. If I reduce it to what I consider to be normal use, it will not last the day.
The watch is glitchy and doesn't always register touch. When I am able to navigate to the menu I want, the watch will frequently and randomly vibrate and shut itself off while I'm in the middle of something (the same behavior as it I had covered it with my palm). This is beyond annoying.
About 50% of the time, the watch fails to turn the display on when I lift my arm (the standard lift and rotate gesture shown on the youtube videos). I've put this through extensive testing, and the exact same gesture (what I've found to be the most effective) is only effective about 50% of the time.
The heart rate monitor doesn't work. The strap is on tight and I have actually cleared a part of my arm of hair to test it. I have never been able to get a successful heart rate. I even got my girlfriend to try it. The lights on the back come on, but nobody is home.
Most of the best watch faces and apps require a purchase. I suppose this is by intention (the designers do deserve to profit from their designs). But the real annoyance is that there is a lot of bait-and-charge software too. Software that claims to be free on the Play store, only to find it severely handicapped until you pay via an in-app purchase. AFAIK this is a big kick in the teeth for the Android Wear community and a major drawback. It won't turn away the hardened Android fan-boys who already have invested in the apps they like, but it will turn of a lot of people on the fence. If you are gonna charge for your app, at least be up-front about it. Its shady as hell.
Furthermore, I've detected that there appears to be a lot of very similar watch faces. The comments and reviews indicate that there is rampant design theft and doesn't appear to be any checks in place to prevent this. As such, I have no idea that when I am purchasing a watch app, that I'm giving money to the original artist or a plagiarist.
Not all circular watch faces will render correctly. The "flat tire" utility bay will cut some of them off.
The watch is not visible in direct sunlight. I don't care what the reviews say. I was outside in the bright sunlight today and I could barely read the watch face.
The vibration is not strong enough. When the Pebble Steel vibrated, it was very strong, but not intrusively so. This watch I can hardly even feel when I'm expecting it. Not acceptable.
Step counter doesn't work, but this is to be expected. Even the Pebble Steel was off. I've always maintained that wrist based pedometers are a fad and can't tell what your legs are doing.
Sorry for being critical, but you did presumably ask for honest opinions. I suppose it is subjective, but the 360 isn't for me. It feels very Beta. Maybe the 360 2 will get it right, but this watch is a pass IMO.
I been wanting a new gadget to play with.
I bought someone's NIB black refurb off CL for $120. So far it's been a cool experience. I don't regret my purchase. YMMV it's a personal thing.
I bought a SONY smart watch. Turned it on, could figure out anything, couldn't get it pair. Turn it off, left it in the shopping bag somewhere.

Anyone with a 360 could have told you now was not the time to buy...
Motorola still haven't figured out the 5.1 update, and the previous update seriously hurt battery life and the tilt-to-wake function. Right now we're all in the same boat, just trying to keep the thing working properly till the end of the day...
The original software on the 360 was very responsive and had good battery life so we know it can work, but our only hope now is that Motorola's team of trained chimpanzee coders manages to set it right.

Would you buy one today?

Hey everyone,
So I like to bike maybe once a week and have typically used Map My Ride or Strava to, well, map my rides. But I'm on Project Fi now so am becoming a miser with my data. I was thinking of getting a SW3 and using GhostRacer and the built in GPS to handle that but wanted to see if it is still worth it. I know the 360 Sport is around but the reviews haven't been stellar. Assuming the price is in the $100-$125 range is it still worth it?
I do also go to the gym a couple of days a week so keeping music on the watch and using headphones is a plus as well.
Thanks,
I owned both SW3 and Moto 360 Sport, however I just sold the 360 Sport yesterday because the battery drained on it a lot faster than on the SW3. I prefered the look of the Moto 360 Sport over the SW3 even though I own the SS, Universal strap and silicone strap for the SW3. Both are also water resistant.
Here is a breakdown of pro and cons.
The display of both watches are similar other than round vs square, however the Moto display is a bit nicer with more vibrant colors and while in ambient mode it's in color vs b&w.
Moto 360 Sport also has a built in optical HR monitor SW3 does not.
SW3 has replaceable watch band, infinite combination, Moto 360 Sport comes in White, Black, and Orange and you can not replace the bands.
Again, battery life is night and day better on the SW3 additionally you can charge is with any Micro USB cable vs a proprietary wireless charger. Additionally SW3 charges really fast, almost 2X faster than Moto 360 Sport.
SW3 has built in NFC, you can't do much with it now but future updates may give you more options.
I haven't used either watch with the headphones, so I can't comment on that aspect of the watch.
So I would say go with SW3 and save some money, you'll have no regrets.
Had the SW3 for about 6 months now and I love it. I use it for tracking runs, playing music paired with BT headphones and for keeping track of my appointments. It's great for the price, but I suggest holding out a while longer until announcements for support (or lack thereof) for Android Wear 2.0 come out. Motorola has confirmed it won't be getting the software update for the 1st gen Moto360, so there's a good chance the SW3 won't either..so you might be better off getting one of the newer models. I'm thinking the price might still go down if it won't support AW 2.0, but if it does, at the current price it's a steal.

Because first gen has bad processor and bad battery.
SW3 has same processor than Moto 2nd gen and other actual wear watch.

I won't get my hopes up. It may have the hardware requirements , but seeing as the SW3 was the last of the 1st gen devices to get the recent android update, Sony may not be too keen on putting any more effort into the device. Still a great device for the price it's going for now though, and a good entry point into Android Wear for minimal $. Just bear in mind that when purchasing any piece of tech, it's bound to become obsolete in a year or so, simply because that's how fast technology is evolving. Hardly anything is future-proof these days.
I have this watch for a couple of months now and yes I absolutely love it. Might even buy a second one, for no other reason than having a spare, just in case. I'm sad that smart watches aren't really popular - I'd love to have a SW3 with better hardware and a heart rate sensor - but this watch is great. I use it for stuff like skating and thanks to the great location tracking, I can safely leave my phone at home, and when I'm back it will sync my whole route. This took a looong time the last time I did it, but ok, I rode for 30km so that's probably a lot of data to sync. Now I can see my entire route back on Google Fit. I really love that.
As a sysadmin I also use my watch for easy notifications, and for dispatching tasks to Tasker, using WearTasker. It's great that I don't need to take my phone each time I get a notification. This also applies to when I'm driving - using my phone when I'm on the road is something I absolutely never do, and now, when I get a message, I get it on my watch, so at least I can see if it's something urgent.
The voice capabilities work well enough to also make this a lovable feature.
The rubber wrist band fits nicely. I also bought a, what's the name, the plastic thing in which you can fit a band of your own choice. But I like the rubber band a lot more.
The display works great with a screen protector and the light sensor also works good.
All in all.. what's there not to love about this watch?
Have had mine for about seven months now. Overall I'm very happy with the watch and will probably (hopefully) keep it for a long time.
I'm most impressed by the battery life, which is great, and the durability of the display. I'm very neurotic about my phone's screen, always using tempered glass protectors, but I've worn the SW3 without any kind of screen condom pretty much all the time for over half a year, and the display still looks like brand spanking new. Thing is tough, is what I'm saying.
I just went through all of this myself when my original SW3 broke. I went through all of the available smartwatches and started narrowing them down. I like running but hate taking my phone because of its size (6p). I found an awesome Amazon Warehouse deal on a 360 Sport. The band is a deal breaker. Plain and simple. Its awful. Everything sticks to it and it was uncomfortable for me. This wouldn't be an issue normally, but you cannot replace the band...ever. Also, potential issue with the 360 Sport is IP67 water resistance vs IP68 on the Sony SW3.
I also tried the Samsung Gear S due to its IP68 rating and heart rate. While the fit and finish is above and beyond what the SW3 has to offer, I missed the always-on TFT screen, Wear, Google Now (voice commands work amazingly well), and my customized Watchmaker Premium face (with Tasker integration .
I would still choose the SW3 today due to these things: battery life (2 days not uncommon), TFT display (always on without killing battery-visible in direct sunlight), ambient light sensor (I'm looking at you Huawei and Asus), microUSB charging (yes, it's kinda a pain, but you can charge anywhere-getting a right-angle USB cable helps make it less annoying to plug in), and interchangeable bands (I have 2 bands now. They are comfortable for me and quick clasp). Lack of heart rate does not bother me b/c I don't think any wrist-based HR is accurate enough to matter.
Note: I use my SW3 with headphones all the time. Works great. Syncing music is cake with Play Music, though, since it has USB, I would prefer if it supported MTP and you could just drag and drop whatever straight to the device. Definitely not a problem, just annoying to have to wait for all your offline music to sync over BT.
My main issue with my SW3 is the very very.... poor readability indoor in dim mode. With low light it is very difficult to read. And with only black & white dim mode most of the wear face are very bad. Even the pebble time LCD screen color is much better
Good outdoor 1% of the time but bad indoor 99% of the time.

I will say that the LCD in the SW3 is not the best for viewing angles and resolution. However, readability is never an issue for me. The main reason is the ambient light sensor. I tried a Zenwatch 2 (which is a nice watch for the money), but the lack of the ambient light sensor meant the screen was always too dim or too bright. I don't want to fiddle with brightness every time I go outside or back inside. Yes, the always on TFT mode is going not the greatest for inside, but that's not its point. Still, sitting here at my desk under weak, florescent light, I can read it perfectly at a glance. That is another selling point for this watch. It is fairly useful as a watch...lol.
I am bit disappointed with my SW3, or more with Android Wear actually.
Besides notifications I have not been able to find much use for it. I had Pebble for two years and loved the way it handled notifications, with a certain third party app though. IMO Android Wear is quite clumsy and I miss more customisation options especially with the way notifications are handled. My battery lasts about a day and a night. For a smartwatch I guess that is not bad but I do miss Pebble's several days of juice.
So I am not sure if I would buy one now that I have used SW3 for few months...

Which Smart Watch?
I own the Sony S3 Smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S2 and two Moto 360 2nd generation watches. Yes, I have four smart watches for no reason other than I love gadgets. I also owned the Huawei smart watch for about a week before I exchanged it for a Moto 360. The Huawei is great but I have huge wrists. So the Moto looks best on my wrist. Anyway, I use each watch for different activities. Each watch has it's pros and cons and correlates directly to which activities they are best for. For instance, the Sony Smartwatch has the best waterproof rating. So I wear the Sony to the beach and for playing beach volleyball (any activity with the possibility of submersion). The Sony is also one of the only watches with on-board GPS. That's great when you want to track your movement without lugging the phone around with you. The Samsung Gear S2 is probably the most versatile and it's sort of a hybrid between a sports watch and a casual dinner watch (depends on which band you install). The Samsung works great in every aspect and is probably the best overall performer but you cannot wear it as a luxury piece. It just does not have the look of a luxury piece. That's where the Moto 360 2nd Gen comes into play. The Moto performs great but you don't want to wear it playing beach volleyball. The Moto is designed to look like a luxury time piece and it looks the part. Of course the stock straps with the Moto are absolute garbage. You will want to order good thick leather straps online (or nice stainless steel). Once you have installed the new 3rd party strap your Moto will look very much like a fine time piece similar to a Breitling, Tagheur, Omega, etc.... Then you just need to use the Watchmaker premium app to download hundreds of custom watch faces that resemble luxury time pieces. In conclusion, if you want the smart watch solely for exercise I suggest the Sony S3. If you want a very nice (large) watch that looks like a Rolex I'd suggest the Moto 360 (46 mm). If you want a smart watch for the office and exercising I'd suggest the Samsung Gear S2. Most importantly, all three of these watches are top performers with good processors and great screens. So the only thing that differs greatly is the appearance of the piece itself.
