I have windows 8, will I be able to flash the drivers? :/

Error 2004
I am getting BROM ERROR : S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL (2004). I tried different USB ports, 2.0 and 3.0 and different PCs(I also tried on Win XP with XP drivers). After I press download and connect the phone, SP-FlashTool won't "catch" the MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port. It will disconnect and connect every 2 seconds, for 9 seconds, then it will give me that error.
If anyone has an idea of what can I do to fix this, please tell me.
EDIT: Solved by renaming "checksum.ini" to "checksum.old"

Rom request
Does anyone have this rom with build 1.00.401.4 or CWM for the same build?

I have succesfully installed the drivers on Windows 8.1 64bit (after a bit of hard work ), but when SPFTool starts downloading the Flash it gives out the error BROM-ERROR Download failed (4008). I have google it and it says it has something to do with the battery, but the battery is charged, the USB cable is OK, I have changed USB ports... What can I do to finish the flashing process? How can I fix this error? Thank you!

Hi guys, its being ages for me to write a comment in the forum but this time was a must in order to thank MalekJandali for this "life saving" thread.
I ended up after following some instructions on how to make CWM recovery and bricked the phone!
After it successfully created the CWM it asked if i wanted to reboot in recovery mode so i pressed yes. After that the nightmare began , constant reboot every 2 seconds.
Following this thread brought the phone back to life but i would like to let you know that on the step where it says "Turn the phone off , pull out the battery and connect having the volume down pressed", the flash would not start and in device manager the MT65xx driver was going on and off every second. Tried the procedure from the beginning in order to reload drivers as said but to tell you the truth when the battery indicator was coming up and i disconnected the cable then in other devices there was no MT65xx preloader (nor at my very first try.).
So what i did was to pull out the battery and do the step of the flashing, as soon as the device manager showed the MT65xx i right clicked on it and followed the driver update procedure (manually! as the Win7 could not find any drivers).
Then on to the flashing step again just to find out that nothing was happening.... So i put the battery in the phone and tried once again and that did the trick!!!
Don't really no guys what went wrong really, was it my drivers? was it the phone? Anyway at the end i saved it with this wonderful thread!!
Thank you so much.

Hey man, Can you briefly explain the procedure? I have the same issue. Phone connects and reconnects every 2 seconds. I did CWM recovery and my phone into boot loop and after that i did something using sp flash tool and now it wont turn on. I have updated the drivers manually. How can I get out of this hole? Its my first experiment gone havoc. Any help would be appreciated? thanks in advance

after 2 weeks of doing this instruction with various results(e.g a bad headache :crying except any success :silly:, i achieved a great experience:
my computer's OS is win 8.1.
Run SP FlashTool in compatibility mode for windows 7!:cyclops:
Right click on .exe file and click on properties. then check the "run this program in compatibility mode for" and then select the windows 7.
Try it and save your phone and comback and knock the thanks maybe it heal my head!

help please i need the driver, its no longer available!!!!!
help please i need the driver, its no longer available!!!!!

keep failing on brom error

worked fine...but not until I installed driver and spflashtool on Win 7 machine
tried to revive bricked phone with the "help" of mofo Windows 10.
Nothing worked. Installed the driver without signed certificate...everything! All ok...but no connection and BROM error.
windows detects phone for 10 miliseconds and after that driver crashes (no connection). And restarts the driver again. It's like bootloop for the driver too )
Switched to wife's Win 7 machine...
& everything went smooth like a little baby's bottom.
Good to know:
I had this ver. before Brick & found it on the web: 0PA2IMG_V1_DUG_JB422_SENSE51_htc_asia_sea_wwe_1.03.708.1_Radio_MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V19_release
*later edit: actually my version before brick was 1.03.708.10. there was a ~14mb update from 1.03.708.1
It is the version sold in Romania - HTC 310 dual sim BLUE (512mb ram) After install: everything works. NO imei error, NO gsm signal problems, NOT ONE PROBLEM
also, I actualy left the phone without battery when instaling driver and when flashing firmware (ticked "w/o battery").
you can dl the win 7 drivers bellow my post
Thanks for the good Tut.
PS: I bricked the phone as everyone else....Trying to install CWM with RASHR.apk as seen in that friggin youtube clip (because it stated: tutorial for 1.03.708.12 phones or SIMILAR <<bad idea!)

trial and error...
remove battery, connect to pc holding volume down(-) button. OR try with battery atached and holding volume down. Sometimes works even without pressing volume down. Whatever suits.
in Windows Device Manager: Right when device is detected proceed to manualy install drivers.
Sometimes crappy Windows 8, 8.1, or 10 have trouble installing and starting the driver. In win10 you get error: "driver not migrated. device cannot start " or something like that (Device manager/Driver properties)
You should try in windows 7.
Disconnect phone
Open SP Flash with "Run as administrator" and set it up corespondingly(see first post), without the phone!
press "download" ->Sp Flash will wait for you to reconnect phone to pc...
try connection with battery atached... try connection without battery atached and atach it when usb cable connected...
Sp Flash tool as soon as it detects phone, it starts to flash firmware.
MOST IMPORTANT: write down which SP Tool errors you get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and POST BACK

i780 ROM flashing problem

When I try to flash a new ROM using the Mirage updater, after I connect the phone to the usb cable, Mirage show me the message " PDA Device not found". I have installed all samsung modem drivers, i have no firewall or antivirus program and still does not work to flash a new ROM. This behaviour appeared after I flashed the i780_DXHC4_Rev12 ROM. If anybody had this problem, please advice me what to do next. thanks
no experts here?
no this happen. Are you using XP?
First and only time when I succeded to flash the ROM (DXHC4 version), it was on win2k3 standard..Since then, I have tried to flash the ROM on various OS ( vista, xp, win2k3, win2k8..) with the same result each time: "PDA Device not found"...
Make sure to connect the phone to the USB cable when the phone is completely OFF. (take out battery and put it back in)
with the turned out phone connected to the cable, press DETECT,
and only then power up your phone.
I know some instructions tell you to go into bootloader mode, but I found that this is enough to successfully flash my device.
Make sure you run on XP and not on Vista.
Hope this helps.
thank you for your advice..unfortunately, it does not work also..after I press Detect and turn on the phone, Mirage send me the same message: "PDA Device not found"...if you can help me with other instructions, i would appreciate

Does your device succeed in connecting to the computer using ActiveSync?
Try disabling ActiveSync USB connection or altogether.
If you only want to install the PDA part try removing the USB modem drivers,
you don't need them for PDA only.
Try a different USB port maybe, Or maybe another cable.
I'm at a loss here...
Hi on this forum too!
You need to already have an active activesync relationship with the device.
I can make file transfer and PC sync with the phone.
I tried every USB port to flash the phone. But nothing works, only 'PDA Device not found' message. I think there is no solution for this problem...

u have to load the modem driver which is for i600... i had the same issue but as soon as u load the modem driver it works fine..
and u have to take out the batt and put back the batt then hold enter and Fn button while u press the power button.. and hold till the device is booted in emergency mode... then connect your USB cable..
nothing works...
Try to update your usb drivers...
gOOndu is right you must have the correct USB driver to recognize your phone. This is not the modem driver. You can test this by disabling Active sync USB connections and plugin your phone. If it has the right driver it should state hardware found (name of your device) and then hardware installed and ready for use. If you get a hardware not recognized then the driver is not correct.
Hope this helps you.
The problem is not with the OS drivers, which recognizes my hardware device. Also, I am able to make transfers from the device to the desktop and viceversa. The problem is with the Mirrage Updater, after I press Detect and plug in the device, it can not see my pda anymore ( PDA Device not found message). The only time when I was able to flash my device ( with Mirrage) was when I upgraded to DXHC4 version. Since then, Mirrage can not find my pda anymore, altough I use the same (operating) system as when I succesfully flashed DXHC4...

Hi guys,
I am trying to flash a ROM following the steps in the first post of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388067 . I tried on Windows XP, Vista, 7 without any positive results. I installed the Samsung i600 drivers, started mirage, loaded the bin file in the PDA section, pressed detect, started the device using Fn+Enter+ON key, but mirage kept saying "PDA device not found". I tried the above steps in different orders,no luck whatsoever. I have the following 2 questions:
1. booting the phone in DETECT mode means that you get the message "Emergency mode - You must push Detect BUtton of the download application befor you connect the usb port".
2. Do you have another STEP-BY-STEP guide on how to do this? Or is there another tool besides Mirage (which in my opinion is quite old)?
Thanks a million.
Which USB connection do you use? Front panel? Use one which is connected directly to the mainboard (on the back).
There is an i780 flashing guide available. I cannot find (or post) the direct link but it acknowledges this original post.
I spent several hours at the weekend trying to find a way of flashing my phone including installing virtual PC, etc, etc.
Eventually I found this to my relief and it worked for me in Win7:

[Q] P350 fastboot bricked

So I used ROMmanager to get clockwork recovery mode. Now when my phone entered the recovery mode it just say:
"Fastboot mode started"
"udc_start()"
If i connect my USB cable to it it says --suspend--
Now i tried using KDZ_FW_UPD in Emergency mode to restore original firmware but it cant find the phone. The log is:
[R&D Test Tools Log File]
10:50:59 : Launching SW update
10:50:59 : Unpacking KDZ
10:51:14 : KDZ file extraced

10:51:17 : Port = -1
10:51:17 : Connecting to phone
10:51:17 : PHONE WAS NOT FOUND!
10:51:19 : ===FINISHED===
I tried this procedure on 2 pcs but no luck. It seems that my phone can't connect to PC with usb cable.
I installed LG Moblie United drivers and disabled the lg modem thing in device manager. I am using Windows xp Proffesional SP3.
So does anyone has any clue what I am doing wrong ? If u need more info just ask.
Maybe if I try from some linux distro it will detect my phone ? But what tools to use then ?
Use fastboot to recover the phone. Check the wiki at the Troubleshooting section.
---------- Post added at 03:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:12 PM ----------
I recommend using drivers latest version. Last time I checked, United Mobile Driver was version 3.7.2 release 4.9.8.1 and Modem Link Driver was 1.0. I'm providing links for download from my personal Dropbox folder because I don't remember from which LG site I downloaded them from.

Didn't I said i did that ? My PC wont recognize my phone in fastboot or emergency mode, with fastboot being stuck at udc_start() and when i connect USB it says "-- suspend --" ,
I tried this guide madmanzrocks still dont see phone.
deleted lg modem, reinstalled all usb hubs, tried 10 versions of LGunited drivers, used both official update tool and kdz nothing works(can't detect phone), and also tried from cmd.
My problem isn't how to unbrick but rather why my pc won't recognize my phone :/
So, no feedback (USB Device connected sound) when conneting the phone? I assume you have tried all ports available.... Long shot, but maybe the phone's USB connector is dead... You have some background on electronics? If so, you can follow the service manual I reposted recently at the General section to check if the connector is gone (p. 113).

I have quite some background on electronics so ill check it out when i try this on couple others pc's. Don't want to dissaemble it quite yet and if it rly is dead repair will probably take more money then i spent to buy it(I got it 2nd hand for around 50 $). It happened before that my PC coudn't recognize some devices but never like this. I ussualy get device not recognized, malfuctioned or smthing like that .

as I mentioned the same problem was solved bu connecting the cell phone with the battery removed. But if even that doesnt works for you, then maybe there is a fault in your PC. Does your PC instantly recognizes USB Pendrives? And which OS are you using?

First start fastboot v2 on your computer.

Start flash so it say searching for device.(or something like that)
Plug in usb in computer.
Start your phone in fastboot.
Plug in usb in phone.
If that don't work you can try to instead of start phone first start it with usb cable.
Can need to unplug usb and plug it in a few times if the device say suspend.
Hope it helps.

Can you please add the links to this files or the files? I would be very thanksful...
Up to this point i tried all the methods you guys told me and some i found myself. Nothing worked for me as my PC stil won't recognize my phone, I have also tried all this methods on 4 PCs(2 had windows XP Proffesional SP3 with all the updates, and 2 had Windows 7 SP1 with all the current updates installed(note that 1 version was 32-bit and other was 64-bit).
My conclusion is that the USB connector is DEAD, even thought i can still charge my phone trough it. I probably won't be trying to fix this anymore as I've found an 4th gen iPod and i'll be using that from now on.It is true that i can't make calls(at least not the standard way, you know, it doesn't support SIM cards), but i have my old dumbphone phone for that and this will be used for just about anything else.
So thanks to all of you guys that tried to help me but i fear this is unrepairable. If anyone want's this phone I'll give it to you for free so you can have some fun cracking your head to see what is wrong . I only ask that if you find a way to fix it you post it here and notify me about it(send me pm).Otherwise do whatever you with it.
I have solution

So I used ROMmanager to get clockwork recovery mode. Now when my phone entered the recovery mode it just say:
"Fastboot mode started"
"udc_start()"
If i connect my USB cable to it it says --suspend--
Now i tried using KDZ_FW_UPD in Emergency mode to restore original firmware but it cant find the phone. The log is:
[R&D Test Tools Log File]
10:50:59 : Launching SW update
10:50:59 : Unpacking KDZ
10:51:14 : KDZ file extraced
10:51:17 : Files were extracted.
10:51:17 : LGMobileDL Load.
10:51:17 : Port = -1
10:51:17 : Connecting to phone
10:51:17 : PHONE WAS NOT FOUND!
10:51:19 : ===FINISHED===

I had the same problem
1.You must have LG P350 drivers
2.Install KDZ updater
3.Download LG P350 software (I recommend V10c)
Now I will explaine steps
1.You have to charge your battery to 100% (Just leavit on charger in fastboot mode)
2.When you connect your phone to PC hit Start,go on devices and printers and disable USB Modem (Win 7)
3.Take your phone, get the battery out, then hold vol+ and vol- at the same time and plug in USB cable
4.Then you should see cheesy color screen(emergency mode)
5.Put the battery in
6.Open KDZ updater,put Type:3GQCT PhoneMode:Emergency
7.Browse downloaded software in your PC (V10C)
8.Hit ,,Launch software update"
Then just wait max.20min and your phone reboots that is it my fried
If triangle apears on screen just get the battery out and put back in
Let me how it went,or for help on [email protected]
need help

thanks DR_MOOSAVI, nice contribution.
I wish you could also continue the tutorial but this time for explaining how to perform a READ BACK for creating a full ROM backup please..
thanks again
Read carefully before to continue!!!
- Please follow the instructions carefully
- The author of thread and xda forum will not take any responsibility on whatever may happen with your device.
- Always make sure that you trust the sources of the ROM you download and know that it is meant for your phone.
- After flashing a wrong preloader, your phone will be completely dead (can't be powered on, it will not charge and won't be detected anymore by the computer) and there is no way to recover it.
Instruction how to use Flashtool
- Requirements
USB data cable
MediaTek USB VCOM drivers
SP Flash Tool
Flashing the whole ROM
First of all open SP Flash Tool, then click Scatter-loading button to load the correct scatter file
(MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc.txt or MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt, depending on which phone you have) for your device and ignore any message that may appear.
Turn off your phone, remove the battery and replace it after some seconds (and don't turn on the phone).
Press F9 (or hit Download button) and connect your phone into the computer via USB data cable.
The process will start and a red progress bar will appear.
After the red progress bar is complete, there will appear a purple progress bar.
Right after the purple progress bar is complete, a message will appear underneath it:
“Please insert USB cable in x seconds” and then the download will start right away (you will see the yellow progress bar filling up).
When the yellow bar is complete, you'll get a popup with a green circle and Download OK message,
which means that the process has been successfully terminated.
You can now safely disconnect your phone and turn it on. The process ends here.
Flashing only part of the ROM
In case you want to flash just one part of the ROM, that is also possible. In the shown example, only recovery image will be flashed.
Deselect all parts except the one(s) you want to flash and then press F9 (or hit Download button).
The tool will immediately show a warning because not all parts are selected, but you should continue anyway. Safely press Yes to continue.
The download of the chosen partition image will start and after the yellow bar is complete, the popup with the green circle should appear.
Please note that, even though it isn't mandatory to select it on the list of images to flash,
preloader file must be present in the same folder as the other partition(s) that you want to flash, or else phone will not be able to enter into download mode.

[Q] NOKIA X dead

Dear sirs & all friends
I have nokia x & I had rooted it to install swapper 2
I had enabled swap space & to activate the swap memory on external sd card swapper 2 told me to reboot the device.
This was a mistake since now My nokia x will not boot in any case & is completely dead.
It even fails to boot into recovery mode.
It even does not show nokia logo.
Screen remains blank even after a removing battery and powering up again by putting battery back
Windows 8 detects it as a usb drive & asks to format it.
I am afraid to format it since it may completely make the device dead
I have tried nokia care to flash rom but it also fails to detect the phone even after pressing volume down button and power button(given procedure on nokia care)
I tried nokia x toolkit but it even fails to detect the phone
I searched the internet but every method on internet asks to boot into recovery mode which will not work in my case since my phone is not booting in recovery mode.

First of all, congratulations for getting your device bricked.
Well, jokes apart, I might be able to help you on how to fix this. Just follow step by step everything.
1. Download Nokia X Flasher from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2744881
2. Install it. Run it and keep it ready.
3. As your phone is dead, I advise you take out the SIM and SD card and keep them away.
4. Now you need to flash the latest v1.2.2 update. For that, you need to follow the great tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2744881
If this works, you could always thank me or buy me a bear.
If any problems, I'm alive. Cheers.
One thing i'd like to add, that in the guide it tells you to enter bootloader mode via power button. I advise you to simply turn your phone off, hold the volume button down and insert the usb cable. It should go into bootloader mode.
i have same problem, brick nokia x, try that flasher but it didnt detect my phone

Sorry but your Nokia X flasher does not detect my nokia X because whenever I remove battery & replace battery, & then power up device by pressing volume down & power button, & releasing vol down button after 15 seconds of vibration of device, the device does not show anything on screen.
I am still stuck with dead nokia X.

Does the phone not show up at all on your computer?
One thing I must add is that you need to enter bootloader mode, by simply pressing volume down button when inserting usb cable. No need to power up device. And although you may not see anything on screen, you'll still be in bootloader mode.

You can also try this.
For all those who have bricked their phones.
Download Nokia Flasher.
Remove the battery and sd card from the device,
Without the battery in, hold down the volume - key while inserting the usb cable into your phone.
If it detects you in adb or fastboot, use this guide to flash the stock rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2747262
If it detects Qualcom device, download and install the drivers which I have provided in the previous post. After you have done this, you just might be able to connect to adb.
Report back if it works.

[Solution] Those Having problem with flashing Stock ROM using SP Flash tool

If you are reading this I am guessing your device is in bootloop or soft bricked. In my case it was bootloop and my volume down button was broken so couldn't get into recovery. Then had go through many places to get the phone running again. Here is how.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>This is for windows only.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
First you will need to install the MTK 65XX preloader driver installed on your PC.
Download the driver from here and extract it.
Note that if you are using windows 8 you will need to disable enforced driver signature checking. Here is how.
Now turn off your mobile and remove the battery. Now right click on My Computer and click manage. There open device manager tab.
now press and hold the volume up button and while holding the button Connect the device to PC using USB cable.
your PC will beep. Now you will see MTK 65XX Preloader driver being not installed right click on it and Click on update driver. Now choose Browse. Then navigate where you downloaded and extracted your driver. Then choose the folder of XP/Vista/7(8-10) accordingly.
Once you have installed the driver now you are ready to go.
Download the necessary files from here
This link has both SP flash tool including the Stock ROM.
Now open the SP flash tool SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1352.01/flash_tool.exe/ and then click on scatter file and choose the file from the directory Software\UsbUpgradePackage/MTK6592_Android_scatter.txt
now press download.
now pull off the battery from the device if connected and after a few seconds connect it again but do not turn on. Now connect the phone to PC using USB cable and you will see a red bar down on the FLASH TOOL.. Well done. Now seat back and relax.
when the process is done fire up the device.
Here is the video where I got the flashing process part. Give him a thumbs up. And if my post helps I am glad.
Stock ROM and SP tools link is also from his video.
Don't hesitate to comment. I am not a dev but I will try to help.
I am a new user so aparantly XDA doesn't want me to post with links.. However Links are in the 1st reply. Cheers.
I am sorry
I can't even reply with LINKS so leave me a PM (personal message I will be in touch.
