As far as i know its impossible to run win 7, but you can run win xp or 95 or 93 on it but it will be super laggy and also awkward.
But if you talking about running windows app on android, wine team is working on it (idk if they still working on it or abandoned it).
Just a theory if you can chmod linux on your tablet and you should be able to get wine working and you can run win apps with it...

Hi Jacker31, & gjost_j
It is posible to do virtual xp and previous. Seach the forum for "Bosh".
It was compiled a few years ago for all arm base devices. But at tha time ther were no x86!
Itry to compile it but could not got over some errors.
So yes if we could find a good sourse we may give it a try!
Look

Using remote desktop (i.e. Teamviewer or Splashtop) is a much better solution than actually installing Windows.

@r2d23cpo
This remind me this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUE-gJmcGKk few years back then. Trust me, Its not worth it to try *I tried before and it lags like hell*

@Jacker31 and others
I never said it is worth it. How to run Windows on android ? thats the title.
Still I will like to have it handy. You never know of a real need that may make it give you go into this trouble. Please keep in mind that all those programs where made available only for ARM! And you will will find lots of info, none for x86 tablet.
Now I do can run Ubuntu in VNC mode, it lags but work. In fact I have it handy with Open Office. It is my main project to try run Ubuntu Natively. But I have post pone all projects due to health issues.

J,
hi, how much ram did you allocate to the emulator ?
i had a thought of using bosch to run a minimal pe windows [minixp]
i'm going to try 800mb ram on the tab 4, on the tab 3 i believe only the p5220 would
have enough ram available for a semi-decent run.
@ghost_j1
Else i think the only solution is ssh/vnc as long as your connect is reliable.
@r2d23cpo
r2, get better soon ! you've got work to do !

Lets wait and see if it will ever work on it.

I do not use a MAC, never have, and will not in any near future, but why do you hate MAC's?
And yes.. It's a a bit off topic..
PS. Never say never :-/
Well I rly dont like MAC interface and the system look is too much eye-candy :/

I see.. Now lets really hope that you will never use Vista than.
Ill use it when sp2 or sp3 will come or when newest programs wich I would like to use would only run on Vista. Ehhh why halo 2 is for Vista ((( I dont want Vista yet

Last thing I say about this off topic here.
Vista is even more eye-candy, so your theory about MAC and it being "too much eye-candy" does not really stand!
OT: Vista, Halo 2, forced 'upgrades'

Why is it for vista only? Because Microsoft wants you to buy their software, and if they can make it so the stuff you want to use is vista only, all the better for them.
As for Halo 2, there are ways to make it run under XP, and I can vouch for the fact that they do work.
How to do it is an exercise for the reader.
And don't hate an environment/OS unless you have actually used it, otherwise you come across as another of the drooling fanboys.
I've used both and I get more work done on a Mac than I do on Windows.
I worked for about year on MACs when I was in school when I wanted to get a techinc status. Their interface does not suit me, I always found it horrible somehow please dont hate me for that

But how long ago was that? OS 10 has about as much in common with os 7/8/9 as XP has in common with WfW 3.11
Regardless, I was using 7/8/9 as well and did get more work done.
If the UI is not something you like, then you don't like it, no problems there. I'm not going to try to convert anyone (I use XP, OS 10, and Linux), nor am I going to hate anyone over it.
However, I do find your reasoning (too much eye candy) flawed considering vista tries to outdo Apple on the eye candy thing.
Oh, BTW, it's typed Mac. When you do the MAC thing, I immediately think Media Access Control address.

Yes, maybe. Hell, I'm still living in stone age!
great now its possible to make games like this
with windows phone 7 games like resident evil, call of duty, or even halo will be easier to make I hope. This screen shot of halo in touchpro2 and I feel windows mobile7 will feature even better graphics
I finally managed to install it. Tried out the sample applications. Tried out creating a new Silverlight project. Standard application and then the dialog within studio can't be displayed, some exception but no clue what's wrong, I didn't change anything either. Strange thing is I can still build and run it. The list application is working in designer however when I was running it the crap was crashing when moving around from one page to another too quick or whatever the matter. Secure programming I see it!

Install Windows 8 on Intel-based smartphones

Anybody know if it'd be possible to install Windows 8 on an Intel-based smartphone such as Droid Razr i? The device should theoretically be compatible with Windows 8 as it's just using a pretty standard Intel Atom x86 CPU. The 32-bit version of Windows 8 should work. Anybody tried this before or know how I could approach this?
This should be revisited. The Asus Zenfone 2 came out and specs-wise, it is more powerful than many tablets out there.

Agreed! However, back when I asked this question, some people said it was not possible due to lack of driver support and possibly some issue with the bootloader. But when has that ever stopped XDA? This would be a really cool project and would really be awesome if you could install Windows 10 and use the Continuum feature. Unlike Windows 10 Mobile, this version of continuum would still allow x86 desktop apps to be run on the phone.

I completely agree with you. Chances are MS won't let Asus make this happen but Windows 10 Pro in your pocket and it can send/receive calls+text messages? What's next?...Snapchat?? - one can dream.

It doesn't matter if Microsoft allows it or not. I'm sure people will be able to get an unlocked bootloader for this phone or make one if Asus doesn't provide it. From there, I'd imagine it'd be something along thing lines of pre-installing Windows 10 onto a microSD card and then boot from it on the phone. The hard part would be making it boot and finding the necessary drivers. I wish I'd know more about where to start but my development skills are more centered around app development, not necessarily OS and hardware.

Please don't make me wants this more than I already do...

[Q] Anyway to run a win environment on the note? (emulator)

Hi
Been wondering if there was anyway to emulate or run a virtual win environment on our little tab?
Was thinking along the lines of Xp or Win 7...
Anyone?

Not possible.
Not running Windows per se, but the Microsoft RDP client on Android linked to a Windows PC works very well.
I don't think we'll ever see the Windows kernel running on the Exynos chipset TBH, at the least it would require virtualization or emulation that would require a lot of coding and in any case Windows would place a much larger overhead on the processors than Android or Linux.
Windows RT, the Microsoft "equivalent" of Android (i.e. designed to run on a low-powered chipset), has not been very well received due to its much reduced command set. It looks like Windows desktop, but it cannot run full-blown Windows desktop applications.
FWIW
Ok, figured I'd ask. I know there were a decent number of virtualisation projects a while back, but usually focused around win98 etc
Though I'd love a stripped xp version on this tab
Could always use Citrix Receiver
could you elaborate a bit?

Heres a link all the info is there most probably best to use gotomypc By the same devs though mate.

Well contrary to the "impossible" brigade... a VM with CPU emulation allows all kinds of impossible feats.
PearPC being an example or VirtualPC on old PPC Macs, etc etc. ! There are of course limitations. But the point is x86 & some basic HW emulation will allow you to run Windows as long as what's being emulated is of good enough spec for the version of Windows you want.
The bottleneck is almost always the speed the CPU emulation runs at, and that depends on both host and target architecture and there are different approaches with different advantages/drawbacks.
I've used BOCHS on my 10.1 (original) to run win98 (slooowly) - and others have got XP running (google is your friend) I chose 98 as it's basically DOS +GUI so I figured it might work better. I've not invested a lot of effort as the emulation and integration of UI elements isn't brilliant (yet).
There's a link here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389700
There are other x86 emulators like DOSBOX/QEMU running on ARM but as with all emulation it's never going to be as quick as a real CPU! That said some DOS games play well I believe.
I've not tried it on my 10.1 (2014) so can't comment on how it good it is there. Can't see how it would be worse!
YMMV.

What do you mean by replicated? On PC you can use Hyper-V to run w10m's emulator - and I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but that should work with android too.

Hi i wrote replaced. Like deleting microsoft sub-android and replacing it by a real android os. That would allow us to run all android apps on the virtual machine in windows 10 mobile. I have a note 3 sm-n9005 and a 1520 4g. I would love to be able to run all my note 3 loved apps in my awesome, beautifull yellow 1520 ?

Sorry, I totally read that wrong. I'm no expert on this stuff, but I know that it's not as easy as dragging/dropping a new OS. They've built android into their OS (in a sense). The interactions between android and the hardware, and Windows 10 Mobile are built in. Technically if you felt like finding every android-related file, you could replace them all and try until you're successful, but it would be a very advanced task to complete.
tl;dr
This is not currently possible.
Il take a long shot here, THE ANDROID OS is in windows/system32/aow.wim if we can do some minor changes to this we will be good to go. Minor changes been getting gapps, su et some extra permission in there. I will try to extract it do that changes and then put it back in his place and have a go. Wish me luck ( hope it wont harm my lovely phablet)
