[Q] Lockscreen (Knockcode) Swipe Camera disappeared (D855 v20h) - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've had 3 or 4 OTA updates on my LGG3 since I got it last year, one of the ones around 20h made the swipe to camera icon disappear. The one in the bottom right...
How do I get it back?
Also, how do I change volume down to launch a third party camera (XCam LG)

This is possibly due to the change in Android Lollipop's lock screen settings. If you see stock ROMs or vanilla Nexus, there isn't any lock screen widgets anymore either.
However, I've inspected the ROM packaging (at least for Cloudy's ROM), this code is still there, it just doesn't show up for some reason.
I'll let some other pro answer this...
Solution? Wait for v30-base from G4's LG UX 4.0 software, if not you can download third-party lock screen apps (i.e. WidgetLocker or HiLocker)

Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm having the same issue.

I installed zui locker, played around with it's camera settings then uninstalled it. Funny the camera widget appeared and remained in the stock lockscreen.

Kitkat was supposed to have Camera access on lock screen

I thought that 4.4.2 was properly implementing the Lockscreen widgets where the access to things like Camera is provided so that you can quickly record a photo/video without having to enter your PIN or pattern but when you need to actually see those images, you will be asked to enter PIN or pattern. That's how it works in all phones (at least my wife's HTC One).
How come we can not get this feature in S4? I thought this is what they fixed in 4.4.2 but I am still not able to select Lockscreen widgets if I use PIN or pattern.

You see that icon only because you are not using the secure access lock like a PIN, password or pattern lock.
One of the advertised features of the 4.4.2 on Samsung S4 was to bring the Camera icon to the Lockscreen. Wasn't it?

Technically they DID bring it to the lockscreen. You just have to have your lock screen set on a specific unlock method. It's actually kind of obvious why the camera icon is only on the swipe method. All the other methods require extra security and a bigger layout for the number pad/keyboard/and pattern circles. Plus if you're going to have that kind of extra security in locking your phone, it's dumb to be able to bypass that with a camera widget. Somebody can get ahold of your phone and load the camera up without even unlocking the device and easily go through your gallery. And who knows you might be able to get to your homescreen by hitting home from within the camera app after loading it. Then the person has full access to your phone.
Personally I don't see the big deal of 4.4 having a camera icon on the lockscreen. You were always able to add shortcuts to your lockscreen so why not just add your camera app to one of those shortcuts? Meh.

Wait...I think you are confused. The ability to add widgets to the lockscreen was always there since 4.2. You just had to move to this insecure method of "swipe to unlock". This is not new in 4.4.2.
What was supposed to be new in 4.4.2 update for Samsung TW was what has been a feature in almost all phones since 4.2, and that is to do it securely i.e. allow opening the camera app and allow to take photos and record video but don't provide access to the gallery or the phone. When the user wants to access anything inside the phone, he/she has to enter the PIN/password/pattern. That's how it worked in any sane phone circa 2012/13.

Yeah I am aware it's been available since 4.2. I get what you're saying now, my bad.
If you are rooted, you can try an Xposed module called Samsung Multiple Widgets. This allows you to access the camera if you are on a PIN unlock screen. I've had success on 4.3. The module, for me, isn't working correctly on 4.4.2. You can try it yourself.

That module is broken and its dev has been saying "anytime" now for sometime. He is a busy guy! So, I don't expect that to change.
That was the reason why I was excited about KK update for TW, hoping that Samsung will finally do it. But alas, no luck!

[Q] GEL launcher issue on 8.4

Hi All,
I am using the google launcher on my 8.4 running cyanogen nightlies, though this issue happened on the stock ROM as well.
The issue I am having is that occasionally I can see 1 pixel of the google now screen on my first home page. Has anyone seen this issue before and have a fix?
Have attached a screenshot. It's pretty hard to see in the screenshot but irritatingly obvious on the tablet screen.
TIA
what a ugly launcher...
get back to stock asap:good:

I had this in my previous nexus 10 when I installed GEL. However, I don't see this in my nexus5, so I guess it's related to low optimization for tablets. I think I remember it dissapeared when swipping left and right again but it appears again when you lock and unlock. No workaround I think

[Q] AOSP Lockscreen?

Is there an .apk out there to give the G3 a more AOSP style lockscreen?
I will use knock code while traveling or while @ client sites, but during my personal time am really missing the simple lock key slide.
You can actually see one on the stock G3 lockscreen when you long press the lockscreen widget. So far Tweaksbox, Gravity, etc. modules do not really provide the same lockscreen mechanism (at least my experience has been this).
I have also seen several play store options but none of them seem to really emulate the simple experience of the lock key slide.

Last I knew a true AOSP Lockscreen was going to be hard to do. See this on Reddit

It's regarding the same issue on a G2 running 4.4.2 which I'd imagine would be the same case with our G3s.
I'm with you though I'd like to have that Lockscreen back but not sure we'll get it on stock.

LG G4 Lockscreen

Hey, I HATE the default G4 lockscreen. I have tried a couple of the 3rd party ones, (CM unlock etc) but non of them are doing it for me.
Anyone have any suggestions on lock screens for the G4?
I like C Locker from the Play Store on my G3. Requires root.
I too hate the stock LG lockscreen, the animations are SO tacky. Is there any lockscreen replacement that works with 1. Encryption and 2. Smart unlock (Bluetooth paired devices)?
Would love a proper AOSP replacement, or at least removing those horrible animations.
Ever since I debloated, I can only use the stock wallpapers on the lockscreen. Not sure how that happened, haven't bothered to fix it, but it's kinda annoying.
Try Hi Locker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.appplus.hilocker&hl=en
Every I change my lockscreen wallpaper it reverts to the default one after a while. Anyone know a fix for that?
I tried some third party lock screens, but none really do the job. C Locker is closest but even as a system app, it doesn't totally lock down the device. When you open the camera/phone apps from the lock screen, they aren't opened in secure mode, so e.g. the camera app will let you browse the photo gallery, the phone app will let you call non-emergency numbers and open the contacts list, etc. It's also possible to open the recent app list, even though it's supposed to be blocked.
Also, all of the lock apps require first swiping to open the PIN entry keypad. I wish it was just automatically displayed like on the stock lock screen.
Really, my only gripe with the stock locker is that the buttons are so ugly and it keeps reverting to the default wallpaper. (But I love that with C Locker, I can add DashClock widgets... can't believe Google removed such a nice feature! But I don't want to use it with these security issues...)
Also C Locker does have a nice trick to block the home screen by installing itself as the home screen (and then launching either the lock screen or your actual home screen app as appropriate), but it has an issue with ADW Launcher, that causes it to run whatever action you set to the home button, every time it's opened. (I guess it launches the real home screen before you actually let go of the button.)

I have the same issue. When I reboot the lockscreen wallpaper reverts back to the default LG one. Have you discovered a fix?

I was not able to resolve that issue. Sorry.
I'm having another annoying issue ever since I installed XPosed. Sometimes the 1 key on the PIN entry just gets stuck and won't register. Only fix is to open the camera app and close it again, or reboot.
It might have to do with GravityBox lockscreen mods, since some of them broke it completely (just blank screen, no way to unlock); fortunately I could still reboot, and the problems wouldn't happen the first time after booting, so I was able to revert those tweaks. But even with all of the tweaks disabled, the stuck 1 key still happens at random.
So I figured out the stuck key issue. An app called Text Aide uses XPosed to force all text to be selectable by double tapping. That applied even to the lockscreen PIN entry buttons, so double tapping them (when typing repeated digits quickly) triggered the selection behavior, and then the button wouldn't respond. Removed that app, problem solved. Unfortunately I couldn't seem to prevent it applying to the lockscreen using the app's blacklist function.

Removing the stock gallery app means you can't change the lockscreen wallpaper.
(I know its been a year but just incase anyone is reading)

With the stock Gallery app I can change the lockscreen wallpaper, but after reboot it goes back to the default image.

Did you disable the default LG Gallery app? I heard that this causes the issue you described.

Can you change the SM-P600 5.1.1 pattern lockscreen?

Hi guys, I have 5.1.1 on my SM-P600 stock not rooted YET, and I was wondering if it is possible to change the way the pattern lock looks like, it is terrible, it's small and located in the bottom middle of the display, and has an old theme, it's a downgrade from the 4.4.2 lockscreen. So I was wondering if I can possibly change it to look like 4.4.2, without 3ed party lockscreens. If there is any way please tell me, an xposed module, an app, a system tweak, whatever, please tell me, i'm truly disgusted with the new lockscreen type, I want the old lockscreen back.
I also would like to know, the only thing that really bothers me is the amount of time the lock screen stays on after I pull the Spen. It's only a few seconds.
l agree with the time out being way too short on the lock screen. 1 second isn't enough time. I'm also noticing since the update to 5.1.1 that the wallpaper isn't shifting properly when I rotate the device-in both lock and home screens.. It looks fine in landscape, but rotating it to portrait the image stays in the center of the screen, no longer adjusting to fill it, even the icons aren't adapting well to rotation. Not to mention I hate the camera icon being on the lock screen! l can't seem to find any settings to adjust these things. l really liked how well this aspect of the tablet worked before the update. Are there any apps that can fix these issues?
