Glovebox - Edge app - Galaxy S6 Edge Themes and Apps

Wonderful app that uses the edge very well for edge swipes. I bought the paid app a long time ago so I don't know what the free version offers (if there even is one lol)
Once you get it set up with the icon packs and folders it's great. I've completely removed all apps and folders from my home screen.
here are a few screen shots.

Nice find, lots of customization even in the free version, Cheers

Very nice!! I bought the full version!! We MUST support good developers (IMHO)

I bought the full version as well!!
supporting development is a must!
One thing that I am VERY excited about is coupling this with Zooper Widgets, and PopUp Widget!!
I'll post pics of what I come up with.

Definitely loads of potential with those 2 apps involved.

It doesn't really use the Edge though. Looks like the icons are much bigger than the edge size, aren't they?

Super app but does not use the edge

Love this app, thanks for sharing.

Amazing app. Bought it after using it for 2 minutes. Thanks for sharing

The Best Edge App I've ever had. Makes other apps gimmicks.
And I really like the floating widget.
This + Action Launcher == Widget Master.

I just use sidebar density. XS works well.

I'm loving this app. I payed for it after using it for like 10 min.

Another +1 for Glovebox! I tried Apps Bar too -- it was nice but Glovebox has more customization. FluffyR's comment about XS density is exactly what i needed/wanted. Also the fact that it supports icon packs is excellent, i'm using the one i have with Nova Launcher.

Always buy full version. We have a good amount of good devs and the more we support the more good devs we'll have in the future. Great app dn good find OP

This app is amazing and smoother than any other side bar app.

I like it a lot, but sometimes it takes a while to open apps from it, anybody else experience the same?
If I open the app from the drawer it opens straight away, so I expect it to be caused by Glovebox...

I loved the app but looks like there's some issue with my phone or I'm missing out some settings. I have the clock widget on my phone and whenever I use it, it starts from the bottom of it and doesn't covers the whole soon rather just the part below the clock widget. The same happens in the app drawer as well, would love a solution for that.

I am facing the same issue, it takes longer to open a app from glovebox than opening the same app from homescreen even when the app is in the recent app list.
It takes even longer if you have cleared all running apps and then you open a app from glovebox. Another than this lag issue rest all great.
I already bought the app and used it but went back to the old homescreen setup since it took so long to switch between and open new apps

Lightning Launcher???

U guys tried out LL yet?? Its pretty impressive as in speed and how different it is..im rockin wit it for now
Was reading this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523859 and there was a mention of lightning. So I am trying it now. Seems to be a completely different approach to launchers. Kinda liking it. Not sure if it is just the "newness" but i am going to stick with it for a bit and see. Really like the approach except would like to see a horizontal and vertical options for the home screen. I would definitely recommend people to give it a shot.

Looks interesting, think I'll give it a try.
Edit..Hmmm. this is really different. Can't figure out a way to add any widgets except their own ones, can't figure out a way to add dock items. Not for me. uninstalling
There is no dock.
Have to spend a dollar on the LL widget add on. (There's always a catch)
I still like the creative concept. Been using it for a couple of hours and is taking some time to break the traditional launcher layouts. Still haven't defaulted it though as i do like GO Launchers features. Time will tell.

I like it. Nice and simple. Thanks for pointing it out.
Yeah thanks for mentioning this, I'm using it now too..
Kinda disappointed at the $.99 cost to use widgets outside of his, but otherwise it's pretty cool, definitely not like the other launchers I've used

Thanks for everyones feedback..i thought it was different..u know how we are..gotta try to it all to find the best!! Im bout to throw this beta cm9 on so i might come back to it lol...happy rooting!!
OK, my mind is now officially blown. Lightning Launcher has turned my Android world upside-down.
With Froyo and GB, I happily used LauncherPro - Had to have my scrolling dock and nothing else really mattered. On CM9, I experimented with Zeam (my favorite dock--smooth scroll instead of paged) and Nova (really nice-lots of options-but IMHO the dock wasn't as good as Zeam) and Go (blecch-too many links to commercial sites for me). I'm now on CM10 and tried Trebuchet (blah), Apex (really nice-a lot like Nova) and was using Zeam, then Holo HD (nice-a lot like Nova and Apex). I still missed the smooth-scrolling, scaled-down icons in the Zeam dock, though.
Today, I went on a quest for the "perfect" launcher and ran across a really good thread on the Experia S forum that lays-out all the launcher options -->here
For no particular reason, I decided to try Lightning. Holy #@$%! It is sooo different from the rest (and no dock either, but I'll see if I can do without it). It's a whole new way of approaching launchers - no pages, no grid if you don't want it, no sizing limitations, free rotation of elements, just one big zoomable scrolling page. I'm sure there are a lot more options to explore. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. And I CAN put my old favorite widgets on there without an additional paid app. The possibilities are seemingly endless. There's a 10 minute video demonstration of Lightning in the Play Store that sucked me into loading and trying it.
Just wanted to share this with all of you fellow Epic users - I now have a new toy that will keep me occupied for hours and hours . Lightning might be cooler than Android, itself.
Al
Clean and simple. I dont like the fact all your apps seem to be right on top of each other though

I just downloaded this and noticed a few things that others may find useful.
First, the any widget addon is free
Second, a dock effect can be achieved by pinning the items you would otherwise place in a dock bar. First, press the home key to center the screen (or you might pin an item off-screen, making it useless). Then long-press to enter editing mode (or menu->customize). Then position your chosen icon where you would like to stay (relative to the physical screen). Then long-press the icon and select customize. From there, go to common item settings and scroll down to the pinned option. Click the ball to turn it green, then check the box. Now the icon will stay in place as you scroll and zoom, just like a dock. The only problem (or feature, depending on perspective) I've found is that pinning an icon at the bottom of the screen in portrait mode will cause it to be off-screen in landscape mode - it will take some experimentation to get things just right. A similar problem exists for the right side of the screen in landscape, causing the icon to be off-screen in portrait. Basically, the position is based on the top left corner, so you could make a dock along either of those sides without issue, as long as they are not longer than the short side of the screen (you'll see what I mean, if my description isn't clear enough)

It is an interesting concept with a lot of potential, but there are still some blatant rough edges... for example, using a wallpaper image or any transparency will cause the icons to streak and leave trails while zooming and panning. It can be considered a neat effect, but basically the screen doesn't truly redraw - each frame is just drawn on top of the existing one, so you need to use a solid color bg at with absolutely no transparency to cover the previous frame and eliminate the trails. I'll be keeping my eye on this launcher though

Hmmm...I just tried this with one of my standard wallpapers from my gallery and had no issues whatsoever. Everything scrolls and zooms above the wallpaper layer, although scrolling wallpaper would be nice.

You can fake a dock:
- Create a folder
- Insert phone, browser etc in it and arrange it
- Keep the center of the screen free from other widgets
- Set folder settings not to close, if an app was startet
Now you have permanently (as long as you don't click on free space of the desktop) a dock in the middle of your screen.
Yes, a dock (even a scrollable one) is very easy to set up = create a panel at the bottom or on the side, add icons (with AllApps icon as menu launcher), pin it. You can have it scrolling sideways like Nova, or up/down, all inside the "dock" panel.

[Discussion] how many of you use lockscreen widgets?

Hi, just want to know how many of you guys feel that lockscreen widgets are useful and use them. I have never used them till now. Let us know.
Personally, I use dash clock widget with a bunch of extensions. Most of the info I like is all on 1 widget. Missed calls, texts, Google voice mails, weather, battery, BBS, gmail and a few others. As far as other widgets go I also use Google sound search as well as the "my work clock" widget. I can punch in and out without unlocking the phone. Quick and easy:thumbup:
That's really all I use but it all comes in handy I think.

I have one, and it's the camera. I find lock screen widgets annoying.
I never got the utility of the lockscreen in the first place. If your phone is not password/pin/whatever locked, why would you want to touch the screen 1-2 times more just to get to the main screen with all your usual apps/widgets or to the full menu?
And all the info you could put on your lockscreen, you can put on your main screen in a better, more personalized way.
I tried a few times to use a lockscreen (a total of a few weeks over the last 2.5 years), but I always deactivated it after a few days.
Just my 2 cents.
i only use them by accident and that suxx. me wants them gone for good

Probably because they needed to ship some features with the N4 and didn't have much else to present. The whole 4.2 series looks like a cherry picked filler between the JB and next major release.

I use Dashclock, the stock camera widget, and a flashlight widget on a regular basis. The lock screen widget feature certainly isn't groundbreaking or anything and it does seem like a bit of an after thought (for example, Dashclock is what the stock clock widget should have been as others have mentioned). I do like the idea and see it as a quick intuitive way for getting to things quickly without having to unlock your phone first. Sure you had the shortcuts on the lockscreen before that would take you directly to the camera and what not but with the lock screen widgets the operation seems a little faster, more stream lined and fluid.
Really though, I don't see why you would want more than 3 lock screen widgets. There is the main home page one that you see whenever you wake up the phone, which most people have either the stock clock widget or Dashclock and is therefore mostly for informational purposes (do you have any new emails, text messages, time/date, battery percentage, etc). Then from there you can swipe to the left or the right to easily get to the other two widgets which are more functional in the sense that you can interact with them (camera, calculator, flashlight, etc.). If you have a 4th one you have to swipe a second time and at that point you have to wonder "why not just unlock the phone in the first place".
i just hate them i use pattern lock and while i try to unlock the screen moves arrfgghh thts soo fukn irritating :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Best launcher?

The wear mini launcher works, but doesn't wrap to the circular screen and has some stuff on the bottom open. Is there any better apps out there? Thanks.

Considering that the 360 is the only wear device with a round screen and has only been on the market for less than 2 days, give the devs a week or 2 to update their apps.
Other wise wear mini launcher functions great.
I'm using swipifiy, which is supposed to work for the moto 360 specifically, but it doesn't work correctly.

I am in the developers community, people say it works.
The developer is really open to comments and feedback.
All good, wear mini launcher is updated to fix the issue. works fine on the moto 360 now.
Bubble Cloud Launcher
I recommend Bubble Cloud Launcher for several reasons:
best use of space, least amount of swiping needed to find an app
watch-face mode: works much like a real launcher on the mobile phone. Press the button to go back to the launcher.
Screen touch guard (in watch-face mode)
Contact cloud: call / text / email your favorite contacts
Full control over the contents and the layout of the bubble clouds with on-phone editor/cloud layout designer
Runs smoothly and elegantly on the Moto360
Very battery friendly, doesn't even appear in the Battery chart
Same bubble clouds can be used on the phone as widgets

Thanks! This adds much functionality to the opposite edge and enables both sides to be utilized. I'll be curios to see what the battery consumption (if any) is.
I just downloaded and am going to give it a try, thanks.
I don't want to jump the post but I think since its in the same vein those playing with this sort of thing might want to give Swipepad a spin around the block. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.conduction.swipepad.android You have to buy into a number of different add on apps to get full functionality and I think the buy in is too steep for what you get but if the stock functions work for you it can be a nice add. Right now I have it set up as a grid of work contacts and it functions well in that use.
Edit... Ok, fiddled with the app, totally dig it. If the guy keeps going with it he has a winner.
It just needs more functionality otherwise it is the best i could have found. Thanks to the app developer
Great find, been looking for something similar to when I had my note edge. Started to live by the edge... This brings me that much close to it. Wish we could get/extract a working apk from the note edge. I tried to take the sidepanel.apk but I didn't take... Any thoughts?

Using V10 Second Screen App Shortcut for Quick Popup Widgets

Using the app called Popup Widget, I'm able to quickly place any kinds of widget directly on the second screen, since we can easily move back and forth app shortcuts from the second screen and home screen, but that mainly applies to the stock launcher only, tried with Nova, but didn't work. Anyways, here's a video showing an example of creating widget and placing it into second screen and works fine.
https://youtu.be/mX-diQEANw8
The app is called Popup Widget, and can be found on the Play Store.
Credits @klark1kent for the idea of implementing custom widgets on the second screen using Zooper and Tasker apps. If you want, you can head over to his thread in the link below for an in-depth guide using Zooper Widgets
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v10/themes-apps/screen-custom-app-icons-widget-t3269726
Update: So, I've created a new video that actually allows you to add more icons/shortcuts to the second screen. So take a look over at the link below.

The app is called SiMi Folder Widget, and can be found on the Play Store.

The idea was actually from your thread, so got to thank you for that idea that you actually came up, and I was looking around for other alternatives instead of using Zooper and Tasker, and Popup Widget sort of solves the issue for me. And also having to place any kind of widgets on your second screen really helps in situations where you wouldn't want to get kicked out of other apps, let's say if you are messaging and you want to quickly see some new tweets to freshen up.

That's exactly what I said in thr original thread. I used popup widget also but hey I'm happy you liked the idea and clearly I didn't create a guide initially because I wanted to get it out to the community as soon as possible anyway I agree the options are endless... The only thing about just using popup which I alluded to in the other post is that it wasn't working with other launchers and zooper allows you to create your own widgets and add them to popup instead of relying on system default widgets. Let's keep the innovations coming though but yeah I was surprised you essentially jacked the idea with zero credit. Thanks for making it right

As those are LG-based Widgets, which is lockdown only to stock launcher, Popup Widget can't recognize it as a proper widget, only universal ones work.
Hence sadly it's not possible to actually get those into the second screen.
