Disable quicksettings during a call - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i am on lollipop stock 5.0.2 rooted and BL unlocked.
i recognized one issue: during a call 90% of all time when i move the device away from the ear
the quicksettings are opened.
How can i disable quicksettings during a call?
This issue is very annoying.

This happened to me more than once too. I'd love a solution!

during a call and press power button.
screen goes off and you avoid this annoying issue.
its not the best solution but it works.

i have excacly same issue with quick settings. I think its a proximity sensor issue. On KK i hade also same situation but there was one different thing, the statusbar was sliding up back but here it drops down and persist heh. Maybe someone else could post here if also had such an issue. I have also from time to time when i need to dial something while calling that even when my screen goes black i can hear sound of dial pad heh its very annoying thing.

Is this an issue everyone with this phone has? It's driving me crazy.

+1. I had it on stock. Now I'm using Rockz1L - same issue... Does all of you use screen protector? I do. Would try to get rid of it and check if that's the cause, but I don't want to experiment without a reason.

So you flashed a custom rom and you still have the proximity problem?

Also can you try a diffrent rom? It looks like Rockz1L is based off the stock rom and therefore would still have the same bug. Would appreciate it if you could confirm this with a different rom like CM 12.1.

every other time my phone rings I cant answer it. The accept button just wont move?? is it just me or have anyone else had this error I have a dezire z
Do you have set CPU set to 245MHz @ screen off?
no i dont, why?
Well that could be one cause, maybe it's a bad app causing your phone to temporarily freeze? Can you slide it the other way and ignore the call?
Did you try flashing a different kernel?

why do you suggest this? how do you know hes using kernels? im just trying to see what your connection to the solution is -its quite a specific answer to a problem that hasnt really been examined. what rom is he on, etc before you can start talking about kernels -- so can you clarify?
accept button - do you mean the slider? if you have cmod - just activate settings to disable lock menu/trackball/ whatever --also you could try the no-lock unless you have security issues.
if no cmod -- theres apps to reduce the lockage -- that may help you get your phone calls but still doesnt fix the problem? you could try enomther's and his awesome extra ssettings app has all those options
Thanks for your help, well it is my wifes phone and it is fresh from the store, just a bunch of apps installed.
I will try some things and see if i can figure it out. And yes it is the slide button, can that be switched for a push button, Is it theme based or in the dialer?? hope you understand what i say.

If its a stock DESIRE Z and not a G2 then I think it's safe to assume its got sense on it and not AOSP. Did you try hard resetting it? (power down and pulling the battery for at least 30 sec) other than that id check for any OTA updates in the settings menu. OR if you're willing/know how, you can root it and run CM or virtuous. Both ROMs are excellent. If you do that and the problem persists, it could very well be a faulty unit. You have a lot of options!
I found I had problems answering calls when I had a specific make of screen protector on the phone. As soon as I took that off and went back to a previous one I'd used then it was fine again ! It's a long shot, but I thought I'd throw it in there.
Problem solved, An update did the trick, thanks for helping out my friends,

Old Sense ROMs with Sense3.0+ Lock Ring

Hey there,
I've been using Cool Droid V3 ROM which for me is the most stable and the fastest one.
However only glitch I have is the old Sense lock style it has. When the phone is in the pocket and someone calls, we end up either answering or rejecting the call while pulling the phone out of pocket.
I felt Sense3.0 and above ring type lock is the best solution for this. (I tried the proximity sensor solution but its a battery drainer)
I copied htclockscreen.apk from one of the Sense3.0 ROM and replaced it in the /system folder, fixed permissions and rebooted phone.
However, it took to me to stock GB lock screen. And during an incoming call it still shows me the old Sense type unlock to answer a call (instead of the ring)
Did I miss anything? Can someone guide me please and let me know if this is feasible at all?

But it is so worth it. Today I got a call and I did not have to be careful taking it out of my pocket. Finally. Also, does anyone else have a high battery discharge when using mobile data?

What settings are you using and what kernel? If my mobile data is on, my battery gets discharged quite fast and my phone gets really hot. This problem never happened on other roms and pretty sure never happened on v2.

go to your dialer, than go to the settings of your dialer, uncheck the option "non intrusive" and it should fix the issue. Had this happen on my sprint SIII
The option is disabled by default on the newest nightly.
Cool thank you it fixed it .it doesn't show the calls missed or dialed calls but I can deal with that unless I'm missing something in the PAC man ROM nightly. But good looks appreciate that
I'm on the same rom and experiencing the same problem. I'm on the 03/06 nightly.
I went to my dialer and settings. The non-intrusive option is already unchecked.
Does anyone know an alternative fix?
I appreciate the help!
Thanks!

I have the same issue and get the error if I receive a call when playing games in landscape mode. However the issue for me was with the app that I had installed for orientation by the name of "Set Orientation". The issue here is if you are playing a game in landscape mode and you get a call whose default Orientation is portrait...the call app fails..

Hope this helps others out there with this issue.
I started getting this error immediately after installing a Screen Rotation App called Set Orientation rom Eyes-Free Project.
If I activate any of the Rotation Settings I get the error on all my phone calls, but if I deactivate it within the App, it's fine.
It's a shame because I really liked the App. It gave me a really nice Landscape Mode on the Homescreen and the Lock Screen, but I can't live without the phone.
I had the same problem after an update to Lollipop.
Thanks this thread I discover that in dialer, settings when Enable reverse loop is ON, the next field "provider for reverse loop" was a strane %s.
I push the field and a messagebox ask me to choose a Provider. I choosed WhitePages (US) and the problem stopped!!!
That didn't fix it for me. I don't get that many calls, so I'm currently switching the rotation on and off. Sad, I know!
Here is a quick tutorial to resolve the issue

big problem with incoming calls

as the title says, when i have an incoming call and drug the slider to answer ,screen freezes and i have to reboot phone to get it working again!!
most of the time happens when i have it in my pocket..
this does not happen everytime of course but in ten calls it will happen three times,
that s the frequency.
my screen is not original,i replaced it myself with one from ebay, but was working fine for months.
i removed my screen protector, did all service tests, searched a lot,now i m flashing stock lollipop with flashtool to see if it happens again, will try safe mode also(but i m not installing any apps any way ).
did anyone faced a situation like mine before?
thanks

it happens also in official rom,no apps installed,standard settings,so i guess it s a hardware problem:crying:
something wrong with the screen maybe(which is working in every touch, everywhere else, just freezes in incoming calls)
i ll try to find another way to accept calls.intelligent gestures, maybe with power button
i will search for apps for alternative way to answer calls.
if anyone has something in mind please post it here:good:

I am also having this issue after the screen has been off for a while. Anyone have a solution?
I also have this issue, noticed it seems to be something to do with the ambient light sensor? If I cover it up double tap or tap to wake won't work ( like it's in pocket mode).
Pocket mode is no longer an option so it's like it's built in now?
But yea for me it seems like it works fine in the day, but soon as night comes along and I'm in dimmer environments it becomes flakey

Hey guys,
same for me since today. Until some hours ago all was working fine.
But why you think it's related to dimmer/light. Because for me there is no difference when I turn on the light in room or change the timezone in settings. For now it's just not working (like broken)
I rebooted (also turned off and on) several times, turned off and on the inactivity display settings and some other tests, but nothing helped.

But I see the process installed and running when searching for it in settings. Maybe there is something crashed in bg?!

But not I can confirm this laggy working of this function. No idea why...
Last days it worked like 10/10 but now maybe 4/10.

A through clean up resolves the problem for my phone
i am facing the same issue with my phone. sadly i have noticed it is a reoccurring problem and it has something to do with the sensors. i tried all the fixes like toggling tap to wake, toggling face unlock assists light, clearing the cache and app data but nothing helped my case. factory reset is of no help either so i'd say don't even bother with that.
what really helped me fix this issue multiple times was something rather unexpected. what you should do is take off your phone's cover, get a wet towel, and thoroughly clean the phone all around, being especially thorough around the front facing camera and the top two edges. I give it extra attention around the front side being careful of the top speaker and after a couple of cleans and wipes both tap to wake and lift to wake starts working perfectly fine. then i put on the cover and voila it all good. Give it a try and let me know if it helped resolve this issue for you.

Hey!
The (single) tap to wake funktion will show up the ambient display, so that u can see clock, messages and use the fingerprintsensor if u want to enter.
It's a quick awake of screen to see Infos with minimal usage of display resources.
DT2W (double tab to wake) is the same as pressing the power button. So this will fully turn on screen into the lockscreen and also activate the face recognition. (for sure fingerprintsensor can be used, too)
BUT you can only activate one of those things and it will automatically turn off for example tab to wake if you activate DT2W.
Personally I like to use the single tab awake for ambient display, as I always can full activate by power button, which would be a dublicate function then.
