Thanks man!
Will test it soon! Sorry for the Noob question but can you tell me if it can be used for building cm11. I am a noob in android development.

I'm using this at the moment on XenonHD. So far everything is working. And that smoothness....its off the charts! xD Btw Dev @Gnome, can you add Lionheart and Sio on the next release?
And LCD KCAL please.

I just flashed this kernel on the XeonHD 4.25 build.
Hoping that they are good partners.

This is just a preview, I'll be adding some stuff from my previous kernels soon... just checkout my git for changelogs and also check the download page for new releases.

I used KCAL controls on StellAR and the difference was AMAZING! (alas StellAR doesn't gel with XenonHD for me)

UPDATE: @Gnome I flashed the kernel, everything seems to be working fine (WiFi, Sound mods etc).
But call bug v1 seems to be present (touchscreen active during call)...can't comment about call bug v2 (screen-off death) yet, but I hope it's not here, cuz I plan to use this kernel as my driver...

Yeah, call bug v1 is something most ppl who recently joined the Mi3 forums won't have faced.
It is one of the major bugs (aside from deep sleep reboot) that was there in the original Lollipop ROMs for cancro. It was fixed a long time ago (by audahadi and Bitti I believe, as Ivan's ROMs had the bug for a long time afterwards too).
The bug was that the touchscreen would remain active when you're in a call and the proximity sensor turns the screen off. It would cause the notification/quicksettings panel to be pulled down or brightness to be changed due to contact with ear or cheeks. Other more complex things could also happen like when I once turned on Airplane mode while talking and got disconnected
And call bug v2 is a new bug that seems to affect ROMs (except I believe Ivan's AOSP and SOKP which switched to Ivans kernel I think) since 5.1...
While calling (or sometimes VERY RARELY while doing something else) the phone kind of hangs, the screen goes dark and it goes into a screen of death mode. Nothing can be done, your only option is to press and hold Power button for a very long time (approx 12-15 secs; much longer than a normal hard reset ~8secs) to hard reboot your phone.
Hope you got it. :good:
PS. Yes, try this kernel. You won't be disappointed.

Added some under the hood stuff on 3rd build, also check if fast charge works, since it works fine on my end.

Hi, just a quick report from V17 I had yesterday :
Not good at all for me :
- always a little latency before acting. Really noticealble on wake up.
- Same wifi bug as in stock one (scratch after airplane mode)
- long black screen during synchros this morning
- multiple android.process.media alerts. I had to reboot twice.
- with all that I can't say if it save battery as all the reboot consumes a lot...
I went back on stock ROM which is really more responsive for me.
Will try V18 but tonight. I need my phone at work today!
Are logcats required or unusefull for you?

A lot of those problems will be because I mucked about with memory allocation, but that should be fixed on Alpha 18. Logcats are more useful than nothing, last kmsg is good too, both is perfect. I expect the WiFi thing will be a ROM problem, and as to the latency I'm not sure. I tried to implement a GPU on input thing, maybe it doesn't work too well. You don't have ART enabled do you? Regarding the media crashes, are these random or happen at a particular moment, e.g. playing music, games, videos?
Thanks alot
PS as these are alpha I wouldn't suggest anyone else using these during work
evrything seems to be a okay this way. the wifi from airplane mode is from the rom, noticed it before installing ur kernal. no lag here. battery seems to be holding up well. idk if its the kernal or because i have radio turned off but together they seem to be doing great. THANK YOU. only time i got lag was when i went from dyninteractive to powersave, but since evrything is going well just went back to dyn
Awww great to see you again my friend
Will test it tonight. Only for flinny's alpha3 or also AOSB 1.2.9 / 1.3.0?

Yeah this is only for KitKat ROMs, so the ones you mentioned; it won't boot on Jelly Bean.
To everyone: if I were to compile a ROM, what would you think of a revival of cn.fyodor's AOSP 4.2.2 with added features? Or any other suggestions?

NO ART for me

media crashs are random. Sometime related to nothing but it seems to happen when working and screen goes off
I had to wipe things and reboot twice to fix it
Will report if it comes back
V18 far betteer. But I still notice this latency with black screen which is longer during synchro

Are you reading my mind ? I've already been thinking about porting 3.4 (with help) for a while. It would be hard though, so in the meantime any ROM suggestions?
@Kéno40 I'm not sure what this latency problem is, I'll compile a version without the GPU input handler implemented when I have time and see if that makes a difference. Other than that I really can't figure out why you're having a problem, it's fine for me at least. What do you mean by synchro?

I would be interested. I have compiled the lastest flinny merged with the lastest cyanogen frameworks. It boots but the camera doesn't work. So I have been looking further, but still playing around. I need to increase my virtual linux box diskspace, so I am working on reconfiguring it b/c of lack of diskspace.
I would love to see AOSP KK rom for our device. Just plain and simple.....(thats just my opinion, dont know about others)
Thanks...

And how about BT call audio? Is it working correctly with your Kernel? It is the only think I am missing wiht all the KitKat ROMs and it is definetely Kernel drivers fault... to be honest... the only roms that had it working since GB were those of 4.2.2...
And for me it would make a big help for my phone usage, cause I spend lot of the time in the car...

In fact I don't use the lockscreen so when I tackpad wkae it, I arrive to the homescreen. But- I notice with it a little latency / black screen for less than half a second, but noticeable.
I cut Synchro during night because of the wifi problem. On the morning I put it back. It goes to slleep (the phone, not me ! ). If I wake up, I have a 1-2 seconds black screen.

I'm gonna try Paranoid Android, CM10.2 (Android 4.3) base unless anyone has objections to 4.3, it was stable and working as far as I remember. I don't know if 4.2.2 can be used for PA anymore.

Just flashed it on Carbon 5/21. Initial thoughts are that it seems to get to the boot animation quicker than Uber. But initial reboot is long... I thought my phone was stuck in a bootloop... Also does not kill vibration after subsequent reboots after the initial reboot after flashing the kernel. It's just as quick as Uber and seems to work with Kernel Tweaker. This kernel also won't crash the phone playing 1080p in portrait... Love the fact that this kernel has sleep2wake as well. Will report back after using it for the day...
Any chance of a 2ghz version? And does this work with PAC outta the box?
Edit: Forgot to say thanks for giving us another kernel for the good ol' Herc. So, thanks.

I haven't tested this yet, but it is on my "to test" list. I'm going to download it on my lunch break and flash it sometime on the weekend. Had a quick question though: what is the recommended date of the ROM one should use with this Kernel? The ROM I'm running was last updated back in March so I am unsure if any new CM features were implemented or removed from the kernel since that time and I would rather not be stuck in a boot-loop or nothing. The kernel I'm currently sporting is "3.0.101-DIABLO-3.3". You say yours is based off of Diablo 3.1, so I THINK it should play nice with this ROM, but I'm nervous I'll soft-brick my phone.
Is there a reason you didn't use Diablo 3.3 as the base?
Also, your OP states there are screenshots, but none are included? I don't need them (kernels don't really need screenshots, eh?), but just thought I'd point it out.
Thanks for being one of the ones keeping the t989 alive.
EDIT: I'm dumb... just saw the screenshot tab at the top. 18 hours on battery is pretty good. I get about 10 with how I have things set right now, so getting an extra 8 would be awesome.

It'll work fine with older KitKat builds.. And I don't think you'll have compatibility problems with using it with a ROM that came with a newer version of Diablo. I was at one point using older builds of Cl3kener's kernels on newer builds...

I will always recommend the stock performance app as it's apart of the system so you know for a fact it won't be holding any child proccesses which may effect battery etc.

Yes it should work out of the box with ALL KITKAT roms. As for Jellybean and before I'm not 100% sure as they may and most likely use different ramdisks. Also I doubt you will see me push out a 2ghz version as I don't really like to OC, but when I do I like to stay in the OC 300-400mhz stage. Once getting above that you risk damaging your hardware overtime which can stunt it's life.

How many times did this issue occur to you? Did it happen right after kernel installation? Because it's sounding more like a rom related issue.
After about 12hrs into it, video recording added a nonstop buzzing sound in all video res. Reboot fixed the issue. See catlog. I am currently on AlpineRom.

Also I doubt you will see me push out a 2ghz version as I don't really like to OC, but when I do I like to stay in the 300-400mhz stage. Once getting above that you risk damaging your hardware overtime which can stunt it's life.

I meant all older builds of KitKat ROMs. My bad. I didn't claify. I'll edit my post. And I thought I'd ask about 2ghz, it was nice when I had it...

a wild kernal appears
Is Hyper supposed to stay a higher frequency on Core 0 when you are playing music or running an app and not doing anything else and with the screen on? I'm currently set at 1836/192 and the frequency settles more at 756 on Core 0. If I set minimum to 384 then it seems to settle more on 384. I couldn't find much info on how Hyper works so I'm just wondering if this is normal.

Something went very wrong....
About an hour after installing this kernel last night I picked my phone up off the table and noticed it was in a boot loop.
I went into recovery and wiped the cache and it eventually booted to the CM-11 Welcome screen asking me my language preference.
I rebooted back to recovery to restore from my backup and (long story short), I couldn't because the partition table on my external sd card has been destroyed. I don't know what would have done that I wasn't actually using the phone at the time.
Sorry I don't have logs, but if anyone knows how to recover an sd card with no partition table i'd love to hear about it. I tried gpart/gparted with no success. I assume the partition was some kind of FAT but I don't know for sure.

That happened to me a short while back using A different ROM and kernel. For me, my sd card died and I sent it back under warranty.
Sucks cause you lose all the data and no way to recover but if you can warranty it,I would.

Ya I suspect the card has failed based on how it is behaving in my computer. I will look into warranty but I'm not very good at keeping the paperwork for such things.

I'm not either, but if you know where you bought it from (online sources are usually the best as you will have an email receipt) AND you have an account with them, they MAY be nice and pull your receipt up for you. Sandisks warranty info though states that you need to have your original receipt AND the original packaging. When mine died they were happy enough with a photocopy of the receipt being emailed to them and they didn't need the original packaging.
It sucks when it does die because you lose your data and you don't know if it was due to the new stuff you were trying or simply a fluke. I've been meaning to try my new stuff again on my card (moving /data to external storage), but I'm nervous that that is what killed it. It gave me a nice performance boost (surprisingly), but I only got about 2 months before things died for me
Now I back up my SD cards roughly once every 2 months just in case one dies on me again. Well, unless I make no changes OR I only add stuff I can re-download easily.

[ROM] [5.1.1] ZMoD (09/09)

ZMoD is an AOSP-based Android 5.1 ROM focused to bring the most popular features to a clean, AOSP-based ROM.
A bit of history: when 5.1 released, I was impressed by the memory management fixes it brought us - it's a lot better than 5.0 was. Since I use my phone heavily, mostly for texting with multiple apps, it was clear that I couldn't go back to 5.0 anymore - however, there were no feature-filled 5.1 ROMs yet, so an idea popped into my mind: why not create one? This is how the first version of ZMoD born.
Features
- RRO theming support
- screenshots: quick delete action
- configurable wakeup on charger connect
- configurable volume button wake
- advanced reboot
- show application's package name in the "App info" screen
- statusbar clock and date customizations
- option to hide USB debugging icon
- clock and time clickable in statusbar
- battery icon customizations
- alarm clock: increasing volume option
- alarm clock: flip and shake actions
- materialized gallery, calendar, browser and sms (not fully done yet) app
- material default wallpaper
- swipe in AOSP keyboard
Todo
- battery and notification light customizations
Instructions
First time flashing ZMoD to your maguro (or coming from another ROM)?
Unlock & install a recovery
Wipe data & cache partitions
Flash ZMoD.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.
Updating from a previous build?
Just install the latest ROM zip. If you had Google Apps installed, you need to re-flash it as well.

Wow thanks a lot @Ziyan
Nice! Thank you very much, this is just what I have been waiting for...a 5.1 ROM with volume rocker wake support!
Kudos! @ziyan
wow! thanks a lot for making GNEX alive @Ziyan, i'll flash it right away. long live Gnex!:fingers-crossed:
Thanks ... in donwload... tomorrow I try to duty with your kernel ... but it will be a bomb, then I think I will change it to prove my kernel, I think I'll change rom to do the tests to my kernel

Bugs?
Bugs
- offmode charging broken
- green bars on the edge of the recorded videos
Thanks alot Ziyan for keeping this phone alive and running. :good:
Just to clarify... Ziyan are those the only bugs you have come across? Are there any other bugs that we should be aware of such as graphical glitches or wifi/data issues bluetooth perhaps? Would this be considered a daily driver? Sorry about all the questions, but I really want to jump to a 5.0 rom 4.4.4 just isn't cutting it anymore. I have all kinds of ram issues all the times, forcing me to reboot my phone on a daily basis. I think this would be the perfect opportunity for me to transition to a lolipop rom, but I would like to know if this rom is stable enough for daily use.

done flashing. so far so good here. bugs presented above is present. but im gonna try use this rom for more days, (as same as othe LP 5.1) but as i remember from my past flsh from other roms., the more you installed apps the more it getting slow and bugs. well so far here i just installed those social media apps and its running good to me, but i couldn't say its that stable but lets just help @Ziyan and give some reports. well im not that fun on CM roms but ill give this a shot coz its the only rom who is willing to support our legacy phone and make it alive again.
This is awesome! Thanks a lot @Ziyan. I've been using your CM11 builds for a long time. But who needs CM when we have you? CM11 is way too laggy for a while - which is by no means your fault! - and all the stories about 5.1 will definitely make me part of your test group. So I'll stop writing now and start downloading.

:good: same here so lets help @Ziyan for this :highfive:
I'm just waiting for the camera bug to be fixed which causes the camera to stop working and requires a reboot to fix it. If that's fixed, I'll be really happy to come back to LP.
i tried front cam video recording ...... sad to say i have to reboot my phone for me to use it again.. hmm.. the main bug of Gnex LP's are the camera if this will be fixed then for sure it could be stable to us Gnex users. is ther a chanve that someone can make a mod for camera and flash it to be more compatible? i mean what if the cam is not LP based. is it that possible? ( sorry for the question im not a developer)
This has been undoubtedly the best ROM I've ever flashed onto my phone. Camera bug or not, the smoothness with which it runs is almost making me doubt this is even the same phone. I am floored. Great job Ziyan and the OMAP team!
Anyone tried bsmitty karnel with this rom..?
#17
how to get root access ?
This ROM is very nice so far. It's still downloading and installing my apps which obviously takes more time since LP.
The ROM feels quite snappy, at least a bit more than recent CM11 builds. I am missing a few features such as privacy guard and quick switch between apps by pressing and holding the recent apps button. Swipe isn't working with the AOSP keyboard.
I haven't tried the camera yet. But so far so good. Really good.
I've been using this ROM for a couple of days. Really awesome ! Great work @Ziyan !
@Ziyan mwisbest fixed the offline charging, maybe you can pick the commits? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59405904&postcount=2882

[8.1][LOS-based][ROM/Kernel]Mackay ROM

A few years ago, I have been building Mackay ROM, based on CyanogenMod for a number of devices. Due to being busy at work, I have stopped with that. I recently picked it up with again with a Mackay ROM based on LineageOS.
It is actually LineageOS, with a few extras that I always miss:
-SU build into the ROM
-No hash sign when using SU
-Network traffic speed option for statusbar
-OMS Substratum theming
-OmniClock in stead of Lineage Desk Clock
The bootanimation is made by my brother. It is the family coat of arms of the Scottish Mackay clan to which my family is linked.
I try to build this ROM on a weekly basis, but it mainly depends on when interesting features are available/merged
Download:
AndroidFileHost
Installation:
-Make sure you have recent TWRP installed (3.2.1-1)
-Make sure you have recent hardware blobs from MIUI (minimum 8.1.4)
-gapps can only be flashed on clean installs
-clean install (factory reset) if coming from another ROM, dirty flash if updating
I am open to suggestions for additions, but I prefer a clean ROM, just some basic extras over stock LineageOS has always been my approach for Mackay ROMs.

This ROM would never have been possible without the hard work of bgcngm to make LineageOS for our mi5 and the other LineageOS developers.

I don't use LTE, so I can't say for sure. In general, because this ROM follows LineageOS, it will have to deal with the same problems as well.

hi and thanks for this first of all. I'm surely going to try it, even just for seeing the bootanimation..i love all that matters Scotland.. your country and national anthem, rugby, braveheart etc
personally i don't use LOS for a very few and not so intrusive things i think. first of all date in status bar, like in most all other los roms. could you add it? don't think it would be too intrusive, but it is a real deal breaker for me
other thing i look for is multiple actions for HW buttons (like in RR.. show volume panel, show quick settings panel etc and not only the los standard ones) but that's secondary as i can also use a hw button remapper app for that
ah, and dt2s everywhere in lock screen would be great also!
bye will report after trying your rom!
@kasper_h wow! that is THE surprise. For the young ones in the community, Mackey kernel/rom was the goto option for our Galaxy S(1) ! Glad to have you in this part of the forum. Are you planning on getting involved with the Mi5 kernel business as well?
tested the rom quicky. enabled root in Dev settings for apps but couldn't get root access for mixplorer?

I still have my S1 lying around, but stopped developing for it long time ago.
At the moment, I first want a robust ROM being build, then I'll look into the kernel as well. On S1, performance depended a lot on the kernel, I haven't seen such spectacular results on mi5 yet.

Date in statusbar is something I may look into. I actually use the calendar status pro widget, which also gives day of month in the status bar. May other apps can do the same as far as I know.
Remapping HW buttons is not something I'm interested in

That's true, kernels are more mature now, performance-wise we may not win much (save it for the 32GB Mi5 with mild OC to 2.15Ghz). However, I think that due to Xiaomi's not 'fully' functional sources, there is space for improving the functionality aka charging speed, sound quality, maybe EAS or interactive governor tuning etc. Your expertise on kernel modding would be valuable to this community as well!! thanks

[KERNEL] [Linux 4.4.127] [2018.04.08] Kang Kernel

Kang Kernel
About
First with my story, ~4-5 years ago in the GB/ICS/JB/KK era I used to work on AOKP, a ROM for Android devices offering a lot of features. As time went on, we all got a bit burnt out from the project, and stopped actively working on it (though if this sounds interesting, the ROM is still kicking with new developers). I worked on a few projects for a bunch of devices (HP Touchpad, HTC One X, LG G2, LG Optimus G, Nexus 4). After taking a few years off and working for an Android OEM, I got the development itch again and snagged a Pixel 2 XL, and wanted to run a kernel I built.
This is a kernel I built for my own personal use, and it will probably evolve greatly as time passes (right now it is not incredibly different from stock). My personal priorities are always battery life and responsiveness under heavy load conditions. I am a big fan of doing a quantitative analysis on various performance-related aspects of the system.
Features
Updated to Linux v4.4.127
Safetynet passing
kcal color control
Undervolted CPU steps
MAC address randomization
CFQ upstreamed to latest
CRC disabled
fsync disabled (user controllable)
Wireguard support
Support and Installation
This should be compatible with any AOSP/Stock 8.1-based ROM, though I have only tested this on the Stock 8.1 April security update.
To install this, flash the ZIP in TWRP.
I usually wipe my Dalvik/ART cache after I flash as well, so give this a go if you're experiencing excessive battery drain/other issues.

This might work on P, but I haven't tested it on P at all, and it doesn't include the latest updates from the P branch from Google, so there might be some compatibility issues (or might not, totally depends on the scope of the changes Google pushed with P that isnt present in the April security update branch, and I haven't gotten the chance to peek at those changes just yet ).
Wiping dalvik/ART caches does not affect memory, it basically just clears the cache that your phone builds over time launching these apps. Totally not strictly necessary though.

Indeed, fsync flushes the file buffers contents to disk immediately, but incurs a small performance hit. With fsync disabled, the buffers are still flushed to disk, but just not as frequently, so there is a potential for data loss in some rare conditions, but most likely not. I definitely get someone's concern about disabling it though which is why you can toggle it via a kernel manager app .
Flashed this on my backup p2xl yesterday and the battery life has been great. I think I might move it over to my daily driver and give it a full run. Thanks!

This kernal is very good for battery life and smooth performance. Thanks to Mr Rohan for such nice kernal.
Nice so far. I just flashed over Flash. I was happy with Flash so I am sure this will be just as good. Kernel feels smooth, battery feels like it is improving, even slightly better intimacy at home which makes the wife happy. What a kernel!
Thank you @rohan32
@rohan32 i just flashed your kernel and fast charging doesn't work for me
I reported the same issue in flash kernel thread and @nathanchance figured the issue and was related to pixel having two different battery cells or like that and he fixed that.
Can you please update it?
Cheers ?

Thanks for the nice kernel. Love especially the mac randomation! Only thing missing is dtw. Would be great if you can add this gesture maybe in mai release.
