LG Pad 10.1 / 5.0.2 and softkeys while surfing in chrome - G Pad 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to switch to "real" Fullscreen when surfing in chrome? I dont want to see the softkeys when surfing around. (tabs above etc do disappear which is good for beginners)
I got root on my 5.0.2 device (DP-Tools), everything works fine.
I tried the app full!screen. The problem is when activating the fullscreen by wiping the pad goes into lockscreen.
I also activated WEbGL and tried the trick with "Boids and Buildings"...doesn't work at all with lollipop I guess.
I would like to use xposed...I guess there is a module for fullscreen (appsettings). But xposed and lollipop...no good at this time

[Q] NavBar Hiding button

I think there have already been a lot of threads about this particular topic. But I still have to ask about this because until now there's still none of the acceptable solutions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lR7Gqmx7iBY
This is a Pantech Sky Vega Racer R3 A850
In this video, at 10:40, when the guys is surfing web , there's a certain button showing up that allow to temporarily hide the navbar and replace it with a smaller button. I really enjoy that feature and wonder if any developers can look into this. For now , the expanding desktop options still works fine , but compare to this, i think this is still better because of various reasons...
I've tried , LMT , GMD, Button Savior, Expand Desktop and still want this feature , wonder if anyone could implement this into the GNex ?
it's default feature for android browser, i think.

expanded desktop mode

i have t-mobile stock rooted rom and would like to know if its possible to make it run in expanded mode or without status bar showing,
i found one app that hides it (GMD Hide Bar ★ root), but then a lot of functions stop working. phone calls are hard to pick up and they dont show up on the phone and task switcher stops working
do alternative exist ?
thank you
atrix like dt
Thats a good question I remember when the first atrix came out, the laptop adapter mode was not that bad it was just slow
Is there any app thst gives the sgn2 that same kind of look and feel .
If you use a launcher such as go launcher it can autohide while on home screen but still shows up in apps

Back to PA after almost a year (PA3+)

Looked through the Q&A thread, can't find a thread similar enough. Here goes.
I'm back to PA after almost a year. I've enjoyed Sony's Z1 and Z2. Now I got my hands on Oppo's Find 7 and after a quick taste of ColorOS, I'm enjoying PA 4.6b6.
A lot has changed since 3.99!!
Here's my questions after all my rambling:
- where are the per-app DPI settings? I loved that feature!!
- how do I turn Halo/Hover off permanently? Chrome keeps appearing in windowed mode. Also, any app launched from the notification pane. I've tried "blacklisting" apps in the Settings>Apps section, but every app PA feels like rendering in windowed mode, keeps appearing in windowed mode...
- I'm getting com.android.process.systemui errors. Mostly in Find 7, hardly any on grouper (Nexus 7 2012). Any app known for upsetting PA?
- I'm looking for ways to change the resolution (DPI) of my Find 7; with ROM Toolbox, I edited build.prop, but there is no ro.sf.lcd_density option. Can I just add it?
- Settings > Display > Advanced > Gesture shortcuts promise gestures when the screen is turned off: double tap to wake, circle shape to launch the camera, V-shape to turn on flashlight and two-finger swipes for music players. Only the double taps that turn on the screen actually work.
Hope it doesn't sound like I'm complaining too much. I really enjoy PA and it's the best ROM around!!!
Keep up the amazing work!

Hover/halo is not the floating window. Hover is simply the notifications that show from the top. Floating window issue with chrome is a google problem on any rom that supports floating mode.
There are no per app DPI settings. This was never ported forward for KitKat.
FC's are probably related to card stack recents. Reset the on the spot preference for recents and use normal KitKat recents.
Build prop editor has always worked fine for me. That line does indeed exist in the build prop.
Don't know about find7, but the one plus one shares the same gestures and works perfectly.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I'm getting a lot of problems
com.android.process.systemui force closes several times a day
as stated, Chrome refuses to go into full screen, it's always windowed.
during calls (inbound and outbound), the screen turns off as per the sensor, but never turns on again until call is over.
if the screen doesn't turn off, the touch display still becomes unresponsive, so I can't end calls.
I'm guessing somewhere down the line I didn't do a completely clean install.
I'm curious about this, since Oppo is one of the officially supported devices, according the Paranoid Android site.
Chrome bug is a problem with Google on any ROM that supports floating mode. The fix is to use chrome beta now because google fixed it there.
Please revert back to an earlier build. Beta4 should be solid for you

LMT Launcher

Hey Guys,
Has anyone with a rooted G4 tried LMT launcher yet? I love removing the softkeys to get more screen estate and was wondering if its working yet?
hope u can get some help
I know this is a revival of sorts but I have both rooted and installed lmt but am having issues getting the right side pie controls to work in either landscape orientation. I have soft keys disabled. Anyone have an idea?

you don't need root anymore to install and use LMT. Get it from the "Pie Control" from the Play Store and once installed give it access in Settings > General > Accessibility, then under SERVICES tic Pie and turn it on.
Now you have pie controls just like LMT.
cheers
Go to g4 themes and apps thread people have talked about it, I'm running lmt on the bottom with the nav bar gone and the Google swipe up gone with the help of xposed lg pie support module
I got LMT working flawlessly on the bottom.
Get Xposed if you haven't alread (follow the instructions in the Xposed thread)
In the xposed app, search for LG Pie Support. It says KK only, but it works fine in Lollipop. This module also fixes Snapchat's weird black placeholder even after adding qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Huge thanks to the devs of Xposed and LG Pie Support.

Android Oreo PIP mode not working?

I just updated to official 8.0 and I noticed that I can't get PIP to work by pressing the home key. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I'm not having any luck with it either.
What are you guys testing on? Youtube? Do you guys have youtube red?
No luck here either....tried it on YouTube and Chrome.
It only works on YouTube Red or Google Music paid subscription. I have both and running pip with no issue.
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Works for me too. Read somewhere uninstall and reinstall might fix it too.
I can't seem to get it to work on my pixel either, updated to the official 8.0 today, can't see what I'm doing wrong, does it have to be enabled?

I wondering the same thing! I did a clean install of oreo so you can rule out any kind of bug from not doing a clean install and I have youtube red...
Pip is app related. So for now only as ppl mentioned above YouTube red(which is not available worldwide and also needs a paid subscription) and a few paid apps have the ability to work with it. Soon we will see more developers attaching pip mode in their apps, all we have to do is wait I guess
It works for me in Youtube (Red), Chrome Beta and whatsapp
It works just fine in chrome.
1. Launch Chrome app
2. Find a video to watch and tap on it so that it is playing in full-screen
3. Simply select the home button and the video player should shrink down in size
4. With the smaller player, you can move it around your display, play and pause the video, or tap on the headphones icon to have the video play in the background
5. At any time, you can select the smaller player and tap on the center icon to reopen the Chrome application
6. When you’re done watching, simply move the player to the bottom of the display and it will close
I don't think you need YouTube red to use PIP. I didn't have any issue in developer preview. If you look at my attachment, you can see that chrome and YouTube were given permission.

Yeah that seems ok. Your Android version is ready for pip but the apps yet are not ready to perform this way
I did a video call in Duo with DP4 and PiP worked without issue. I haven't had it work though with Youtube however I don't have Youtube Red.
Both PIP and Splitscreen work fine for me (I do not have YouTube Red).
I had been on the 8.0 beta for a while and remember reading a guide that showed us how to add the 4th (far left circled in red) button that acts as the PIP button. If I can find the write up again, ill link it.
EDIT:
This is how I got it, so might be a little different, but it works.

The navigation bar section in System UI Tuner was removed back in DP3. This method seems to still work https://www.xda-developers.com/desp...av-bar-lockscreen-in-android-o-dp3-heres-how/ to add a PiP button.
We should be able to use a built-in system feature without the need of a 3rd party application.
Took this from Android o introduction guide

I'm rooted and installed custom navigation bar per the link. If I go to add an extra right or left button, pip does not show up as an option. I'm on the official oreo release. How does this work? Thanks
Update - by following instructions here: https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/enable-android-os-picture-picture-mode-right-now-0176848/ was able to create an extra button for pip. Custom navigation bar pretty much provides the same functionality as the now missing sytem ui tuner. My issue now is that if I go to full screen the navigation bar is hidden, if I double tap to get them back then I'm out of full screen. This happens in Chrome using the desktop version of youtube. I still get a pip but it is of the whole chrome youtube page, not the youtube video.
Nevemind - still learning oreo. If in portrait mode with full screen, I can swipe right to left and get the nav buttons back, then I can use the extra button I created to do pip. Just discovered that the feature that hides the button is called "immersive" mode which I suppose is great if you want to watch videos or anything else full screen without the nav buttons showing.
