guys how about e9 and e9+ (plus) ? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

will they share forum with m9 or there will be a separate one?
roms are separate I would assume

So what are the opinions of the few that own the E9+? Pros/Cons? Battery life? Gaming performance?
I am considering this phone because IMO 5.5 inch screen is the sweet spot.

the phone has nothing in common with the M9
OS Android OS, v5.0 (Lollipop)
Chipset Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810
CPU Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2 GHz Cortex-A57
GPU Adreno 430
E9 Plus
OS Android OS, v5.0 (Lollipop)
Chipset Mediatek MT6795M
CPU Octa-core 2 GHz
GPU PowerVR G6200
it's more like the M9 Plus
OS Android OS, v5.0.2 (Lollipop)
Chipset Mediatek MT6795T
CPU Octa-core 2.2 GHz
GPU PowerVR G6200
If the M9 Plus ever gets any support you may have a chance at root, but with the overall popularity decline for HTC this year I would not hold my breath waiting. Seems HTC is just spreading themselves way too thin. IMO they need to stick to 1 or 2 device's and get it right.

it does although i turned this off
battery is in calibration mode... works 1.5 days

so how about creating a separate forum?

anybody? who is in charge creating new forums?

Just keep it to a single thread, the M9+ section is already an eyesore.

still no desire for a separate forum?

I want a separate forum!!

I want it too!

A friend saw the E9+, he told me it has a very nice screen but the body is way too plastic, even the Note 4 feels better in hand

Most people will use covers etc. So, even if there is a feeling, it will disappear
For me it's good. Especially weight. And, yes, I have ordered the cover already

Agreed- keep them separate seems as they need different mods/Roms etc

I got my E9 delivered yesterday and its feel a lot lighter, but I would not say it feels cheap - still feels better than my LG G3/G4's
The camera is superb as is the sound!

Hi guys, here is another e9+ user hoping a separate forum could be created.

Hi Guys.. especially E9+ users.
PLEASE share your experiences... pros, cons, etc

Anyone having charging issues with their E9+? I brought one from HK but have noticed it takes ages to charge. I have found other users who have had similar issues but after speaking to HTC they said the 5.1 update resolves this but I can't seem to find it anywhere?
And yes please, separate forum for this phone!

E9+
Guys I am planning to migrate from Xperia Z to E9+.
But It seems there is no custom rom available as of now, which makes feel sad
Please open separate thread for E9+

E9+ India
Hi guys,
I too bought this phone and would like a separate forum. Would be great to see the device come alive off the shackles...
Peace

[Q] Glonass support

Hello,
I have one question.
HTC One X or Nvidia tegra3 have support Glonass?
Thanks for answer.
is that russian gps. only usa gps works (I think)
I don't think the One X have access to Gloness. Here are couple of screen shots of GPS test after 2 mins, as you can see the Galaxy Note which do have access to Gloness can used twice the number of satellites than the One X.
All of this is done on a desk facing a large window.
Thanks for that. I think that makes the decision for me - HTC One X or Galaxy Note? I want the better GPS!

I'm a big HTC fan as I'm still using the HD2, now running Android ICS. A pity, but I might just have to go to Samsung. I also have the new iPad and don't want an iPhone.

Well, I don't think the missing GLONASS should be a problem, I get a GPS fix in a couple seconds, up to 2 metres +/- ... much better than on the S2 !
Note GPS far better, sorry if that disappoints anyone - I own both and lock speed and more importantly strength is better in the Note.
I find it interesting to note that GPS Test gives impossible accuracy figures for the One X (as in much better than it is actually possible to get on civilian GPS), but the actual tracks leave a bit to be desired against the Notes.
way better on one x vs note for me
Idk why but I get the best GPS on my att one x than I have ever gotten on any device I've had. Btw is is from inside my house...
According to Anandtech, the One XL does have GLONASS support. I don't know whether this also holds true for the One X:
The GLONASS behavior of this system is like other QCT systems I’ve seen, wherein it only looks for the GLONASS constellation when GPS SNR is low. You can see these with GPS Test and satellites numbered 65–68.

I'd presume that's because the XL has the S4 Krait SoC, rather than the Tegra 3.
The screenshot from the AT&T One X above clearly shows GLONASS support, since you can't see that many satellites without it. I really wish the international one had the S4 SoC instead of the Tegra 3...
Yup, I agree with you there - S4 is superior to T3 in so many ways. Either they stup up their game with much improved drivers or I will consider a switch to the One XL once it's released in Europe.
The thing is: it's highly doubtful that the T3 will ever get similar battery life, no matter how many updates get released and how much optimization is done. At the end of the day, it's still 2 improved, more power efficient cores vs. 4 (probably rarely used) old, inefficient cores. The only possible case where T3 could get similar battery life would be if nearly every app supported 4 cores - don't know whether that will improve in the near future.

Couldn't beleive, that this screen was from inside a house and just testet it myself... WOW! Just WOW! Inside my house fix with 7 sats. Never thought this is possible as I rarely got a fix with 3 sats at the window with any other device.
Thanks for making me aware of this

Yea, looks like the Tegra 3 version in One X does not support GLONASS. If that's due to nVidia or some other reason, we may never know.
One thing I do know is that Expansys website has the new and sizzling OneX+ and lists GLONASS.
I double checked if the original had it, and boom its not there. Another awesome reason for me to trade and upgrade. By ALL....ALLLL means I do not feel cheated by HTC having the One X, and, having had nothing but nVidia back me for decades in gaming, it just feels amazing having them under the hood of this Katana sword of smartphones. Sorry for SPAM but this is a mother***g Bruce Wayne smartphone line!

After Desire HD ...maybe Goophone N3?

Hi there people,
I have my DHD from Jan 2012 and back then two core phones were quite expensive, now with KitKat android it seems the phone is quite fast but still one core is one core, trying to do multiple things and the phone seems slow. Also if you are in hurry and you want to make a phonecall while having some apps open makes the process SLOWWWWWWWWWWWW
So I'm thinking of upgrading, but some phones cost quite much and I did like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 spec-wise but I didn't like the price. The best price I could find it in my country is 560Euro + 5Euro(shipping) to my door.
So I though why not buy a clone with the new Chinese 8 core processor(which isn't overheat) and performs quite good(and WAY better than the DHD)?
Price? $259.99(without shipping) or around 190 Euro
From what I see here: http://www.gizmochina.com/2014/01/06/goophone-n3-v-s-samsung-note-3-whats-different-on-benchmark/
(Goophone N3 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 3) the difference is about 27.3% which is not much while the performance/price ratio is perfect.
What do you think?
P.S. I'd prefer if the Goophone N3 had many custom roms available but that will come eventually if more and more users are buying this phone. This Chinese 8 core processor is quite new so it will take some time before we'll see any custom rom laying around.

I have been searching the chinese market for quite some time and i found that mediatek (MTK) processors are pretty much closed source, So don't expect to many custom roms exept for some chinese ones like miui/lewa OS. I will probably buy a chinese phone but not one that is powered by a MTK processor but i'm mostly for the oppo find 5 wich has forum here on xda it also has Snapdragon quad core 1.5 Mhz , 13 mp sony camera , nfc ,steel frame , dlna , and the is fully gpl comliant and open source. :victory: . you can take a look at it here

I know about oppo mate, also they will have soon the find 7. But it's not as expensive as it should. I mean you can get a Xiaomi Mi3 with snapdragon 800 at the same price with 64GB on board (300E for 16GB and 350E for 64GB) - the problem is that you can't easily find that
P.S. If cyanogenmod could support MTK processors it would be a real game-changer. Cheap 8 core phone with similar performance as some of the top-line phones.
EDIT: Alternative you can see phones like this "Faea F2 Elite" and the company is working with cyanogenmod to bring some life to the phone. Source: http://www.gizchina.com/2014/01/17/cyanogenmod-faea-f2s-getting-closer/
So if a cyanogenmod version exists(if they complete it), it would be a Chinese phone with MTK cpu and open source android . Based on that I expect CM to roll on many Chinese devices(officially or unofficially)
I've seen the "Alcatel One Touch Idol X+" also know as TLC Idol X+ S960 with a pricetag of 300E (runs at 2GHz 8 core MTK) and performs quite good also it accepts microsd cards(up to 32GB), the only thing is the 2500mAh seems a bit low for a 5" phone but it's quite enough for most of the things. I'm thing it very seriously as I can get it without much hassle.

For the past year i have been going on and off about buying one of those phones. I probably will but untill i see a fully gpl compliant mtk phone/phablem i's sticking with snapdragon . I want an oppo find 5 because i have played with one for a few days on cm rom and it is magnificent compared to my DHD. And it ships from EU warehouse so no more import taxes. I also liked zopo very much and thl and gionee and the list could go on and on and on :highfive: But frankly i thing we should switch to some of these " no name" phones so that brands like samsung ot htc or lg could lower the prices to a more resonable value . Some devices are pure rip-offs

You can instantly forget any proper support for than knock-off. I would expect some more unexpected drawbacks from it as well.
IMO better go for used proper smartphone, than brand new some hyeagizil.

Oppo is a great phone but price is not better than any other brand phone. Oppo N1 has a snapdragon 600 at 1.7GHz and costs 449E from their Europe store, it's not exactly a bargain and although you can get it with either CM or colour-something(their os based on android), I hear that there are still lot of bugs
P.S. No 4.4 support ..yet

That's the only problem.. the support, the lack of CM roms and if for any reason you have a problem you can turn to no one as the people who have it probably don't don't more than you..
nice mobile
I've got a mediatek tablet and it's dual core @ 1.5ghz with 1gb ram and it lags worse than any device I've had... At the beginning there was no lag, over time (3 months) it started to happen. The build.prop was modified for any graphical usage to be low density which is how it had no lag...
Before buying anything Chinese make sure the specs are correct (as in do a test) many cheapos are clones of the Chinese device :0
Also before you buy ask the seller for firmware as they are well hidden...

[Q] One X vs One S in terms of development

Hi,
I ask here for your help because I am planning to buy a new phone in the near future, and I am currently deciding between the One S with Snapdragon S4 and the One X with Tegra 3.
I would be very, very grateful if someone could tell me which one is better from the perspective of custom ROM development. Which one has more stable and less buggy CyanogenMod or similar AOSP-based ROMs? I've been lurking here in the One S and One X sections for some time and I can see that neither of those two phones is bugless, but I don't know how severe these problems are, if it is a dealbreaker or you can live with it. Also I get the feeling that the Tegra 3 is lacking in terms of development support and Qualcomm devices are better suited for future development. Is that so or am I wrong?
Another thing which I consider is the display quality, although it is not the main one. I know that the One X has a denser screen with better color reproduction than the One S, due to being an LCD panel, but the blacks are not as deep as the AMOLED on the One S. Is there a big difference? Do the blacks shine too much at night? It would be very cool if someone could post a good photo of the One X displaying a black screen at night.
Just one more question, how does the picture quality from the Sense camera compare to picture quality from CyanogenMod? I know Sense takes better pictures because it is optimized for the hardware, but is it a big difference?
Thank you really much for your answers, I aprecciate your help.
PS.: I posted a similar question here in the One S forum, if you want to take a look.
This is what HTC says on Reddit (and that answers the part about Nvidia vs Qualcomm quite honestly):
To address an issue that’s top of mind for many folks here, we recently announced that we wouldn’t be updating the HTC One X and One X+ beyond Android 4.2. Without the support of our chip manufacturer Nvidia, it made a global update of One X and X+ devices impossible. However, in US the One X uses the Qualcomm chip and an upgrade would be possible, but we didn’t think it would be a good experience for our customer base to update the X, but not the X+. This update caused a huge stir amongst owners and we’ve heard you loud and clear, so we’re now actively exploring how we can make the jump to 4.4.

So, Qualcomm FTW. But one thing I can't understand is how the Nexus 7 2012 got KitKat, when it's using the Tegra 3 too. It still feels like Nvidia abandoned it on 4.1, though.

I regret buying this phone because of this thing
No Dev's.. As maybe bcoz... this phone isnt popular enough to grab dev's attention..
it is one of the best phone in its timeline.. (i think)
just wondering.. if we.. T2 users, can request.. dev(s) to get us new ROM.. is it possible?

They'll need the phone itself first if they wanna do work.
But then the T2U/C3 series has a lot of messed up or half-done work. Missing camera sensor folders, no QC 2.0, broken GPU governors. It's like they used this model as a test for newer ones.

Next phone??

Hey XDA Members!!
My phone has been dying on me a lot lately and it seems its finally time to switch to a new one that will be a true upgrade over the beloved M8.
And I need your help to decide on one..
I Consider these aspects when buying a new phone:
* should be less than 35k..
* should have good amount of custom development support from XDA community in terms of ROM, etc.. (Priority)
* general things like performance > battery > camera (in the order listed)
My first choice is OP 3. Your choices now..
Thankx a lot guys.. ??
HTC 10 is the most logical choice
I had the m7 m8 and m9 and actually went to the Note 5 and have no regrets

Yes, HTC 10 would be the best choice.
I also thought about LG V10 - it seems pretty good overall, especially it;s DAC, but the not unlockable bootloader, lack of development and the not-so-good Snapdragon 808 are doing a good job destroying my interest in this phone.
There's also ZTE Axon 7. It's specs look very nice and it has stereo speakers, but apparently it has some issues with signal strength and other things.

HTC 10 too seems to have a lot of issues related to WiFi from what I've read in its respective forum and while few solutions are out that reduce it to an extent, it requires Stock ROM thereby hindering the use of custom ROMs..

No, that's not accurate at all. LOL
I've been running a custom ROM since I first got the 10 when it was released. It was rooted and S-Off, with a custom ROM (and recovery, obviously) an hour after it was delivered. I have never had any issues with wifi.
It is BY FAR the best device I have ever owned.
