hey guys, wanna buy the new nexus 7.
just want to ask the "nerds" how they think about their device. can u advice it other people. just read about a few bugs on amazon, just need a few impressions if those bugs are still existing, at least i am going to flash a custom rom xD
is the multitouch bug software or hadware related or even already solved?
read about noisy backspeaker when low volume. are this general existing bugs or just some people which had no luck to get a good n7?

I love, love, love mine! Both the 16gb Wi-Fi and the LTE model I just bought. (Dad will get the Wi-Fi model now that i have the LTE version.) Both are stock unrooted with no chrome beta app installed. And zero issues on either one. The WiFi model had a GPS issue which has been fixed with a software update and it has been very solid since. I have had no freezes or reboots (except once when I plugged in a micro SD card reader device, probably related to the Nexus media importer app.) I haven't seen the multi touch issue, not sure exactly how that shows up. It could be that my usage is different. I suggest you buy it from a vendor that allows you to return or exchange it and try it for yourself with no risk.

I read somewhere although cpu on our new nexus s4 pro but something is very similar to the s600 CPU also kindle will lack NFC wireless charging and most important system update

With the better hardware, hopefully more ROM developers will be on board to take full advantage of it.
I would hold off until Google make another official announcement about either of the touch/sound issue.
However, It is a great tablet, way snappier than any of the Samsung tabs in my opinion.
Also the other plus side is the new KitKat update for Android that Google is unveiling around Oct. probably will be pushed out to Nexus devices shortly after.

I have no problems with my touch or sound or GPS. My tablet is perfect. Only had it for about 2 weeks not but so far so good. Absolutely LOVE it. I sold my Galaxy Note 8.0 to buy this and i dont regret it one bit.I miss not having a MicroSD slot but that is going to be fixed by buying a Seagate 1tb wireless hard drive.

I have it since Friday and I just love it. Over the weekend I've been using it very extensively and have found no issues at all. It's fast, smooth, the screen is great (so much so that I'm looking at my various other displays quite differently now - everything seems blocky and pixelated).
If you're in for a small tablet, it's hard getting around this one.
The LG G Pad 8.3 looks interesting too, but I much prefer having a device that will be updated with new Android versions for the coming years.

My first one had a speaker issue. Replaced and current one has no issues at all besides what i considered "low volume" from the speakers. I have since fixed that via Faux Sound.
32gb owner here, love it. Does everything very well. Fast, fluid, no touch issues, running PA and runs like a charm. Using it on a daily basis. Love customising it as with any android products.

After 3 weeks of use I love this thing. Working out as GPS really well too. Love it~
Love my 32GB Wifi (I share my phone as a hotspot and work pays for data so I wasn't going to get a LTE version, especially as my phone connects via LTE).
The first difference was to be noticed was the screen. The colour and sharpness are truly outstanding, you don't even need to have the two next to each other to appreciate it. Also apps and settings load faster and close faster as well as opening the task browser, no doubt the extra memory and CPU grunt at play. The sound from the speakers is a lot better, clearer and louder and stereo is noticeable but to avoid covering the speakers I either pinch the top or bottom in the middle or cup my hand around the speakers. I used to hold the end that did not have speakers but now that there is speakers at either end that you don't want to block with your hand so I would recommend holding one is store to make sure you can be comfortable with it and not block the speakers.
When I first got it I downloaded the latest TWRP Recovery mode (2.6.2), when coupled with the latest 4.3 update from Google with the latest patches built in the OS would not boot, it would stay at the coloured X loading screen permanently. I used an earlier versions of TWRP (2.6.0) with the same OS and it was fine- it may have been something I did and not the same for everyone but if anyone has the same issue try using the earlier version. Once this was complete and the device rooted I have not had a single problem.
The screen resolution truly is something to behold- HD movies look great as do games, especially cartoon style graphics, due to the brilliant colour reproduction. Even books and webpages with smooth letters, no jaggies, look fantastic. The rear camera, should I ever use it takes pictures that are not quite as good as with HTC One but a heap better the front camera on either device. I can't see myself using it much- maybe to show something while on Skype- but at least it is decent.
I do miss the textured back of the original model, it had some grip but the new one is smooth, a little too smooth, with the only grip coming from the Nexus logo with is indented. Also, the USB plug is still upside-down but the same occurs on the HTC One so at least they are the same.
Lastly, the headphone jack is on the top so if you are charging and have headphones on at the same time you will have cables coming out either end. This bugs me a bit but I’ll get over it.

If you have the original Nexus 7 you might not see much of a difference. Of course things have improved but in my opinion its pretty minor. I currently have an issue with the heat it puts out when playing certain games but even without this it's not much different than the original one. If you never owned a Nexus 7 then I highly recommend it. For browsing the web, watching youtube videos its the best. I hardly ever open my laptop since buying one.

1. Lollipop 5.0, and yes its confirmed we are getting official Marshmallow 6.0.
2. Almost all except the ASUS apps and Clean Master.
3. Yup, typing from it and have to say 6 months in and still a happy camper
4. Build quality is pretty solid but my unit's back cover creaks a bit at times. Some common problems I've noticed are:
(i) Gorilla Glass 3 is prone to scratches on some units.
(ii) The screen goes unresponsive.
(iii) The loudspeaker just dies apparently.
(iv) The rear Camera lens is prone to scratches.

Another happy 6 months Zenfone 2 owner. I have had no problems with it at all.
I was looking at the 32gb version when I was considering buying my Zenfone, but with the price difference between it and the higher spec 64gb version being under £30 at the time, I bought the 64gb version.
6 minths for me too and still happy with my purchase. 4gb/64gb version.

Don't do it. I considered upgrading from the zenfone 2 to a nexus 5
MMS has issues and ASUS support is horrible.
8 months in and I'm extremely satisfied. You won't regret it.
I came from a nexus 5 and couldn't be happier. On the nexus 5 I used my own custom build of cm12 and talked nicely. I believe the zenfone runs circles around the nexus 5.

Camera is struggling at dark and night and low light conditions, Bluetooth pairing gives me hard time with my Ford Figo. otherwise extremely happy with phone, super smooth , fast charging, loud speaker etc... good phone for a little money you will pay.
I come from the Nexus 4, the build quality is good but not as great but then again the N4 was all glass while the N5 is mostly plastic like the ZF2.
Power-wise this phone is a beast, I have never ever had to close anything due to low RAM.
The only real problem with this phone is software, its stuck in 5.0 not even 5.1 and ROM support is nowhere near Nexus levels so don't expect to be able to choose from a number of projects. Again if you don't care about custom ROMs no problem, but if you're really into that like a lot of us Nexus users are then you're not gonna like this phone.
My hope is that a stable CM13 will change this and we will have other ROMs based off it as well, but then again I had this phone almost since launch and the waiting sucks.

I suppose compared to nexuses there aren't as many ROMs, but there are still plenty of them available, including an AOSP ROM, which I can personally vouch for.

Yes there are a lot of ROMs available, I see a few people complaint about the battery life, however mine been great, just install cm13, running great so far
i came from the red/orange google play store nexus 5, the zenfone has better battery life and is much snappier. signal i think might be a tiny bit lower than the nex5 but then again cant confirm that since i dont drop calls or anything like that.
camera is better than the nex5 but then again the nex 5 camera is horrible so thats not saying much, the earpiece call quality and volume is great, but the speakerphone isnt as loud as i would like.
if i could do it over i would still do it. i have been nothing but satisfied with the phone. and if i could change anything about the phone it would only be that it didnt have hardware buttons on the bottom and that they were software buttons instead.
also i should mention im using the cheaper varient of the zenfone "1.8ghz 2gb ram" and its better than the nex5 in every aspect.
I also moved from the N5 to Z2 and I much prefer the Z2 now. When I first got it, I was ratty with the amount of bloat. The latest cm13 nightly is pure bliss to use and I have no worries running it daily, considering I work 'on standby' and need to be able to receive phone calls at pretty much anytime first time.
I'm in the same situation but contemplating the LG G3, especially because the camera in the ZF2 doesn't seem to be as good and doesnt have OIS.
Also the size (G3 is slightly smaller and lighter), better screen, infrared (it could be very useful for me, I travel a lot and wouldn't have to deal with crappy dirty remotes anywhere).
Let's wait and see, my nexus 5 will be back from the hospital tomorrow (dead or alive, I still don't know).

Really? I have been having some first world problems with CM13. The most obvious being it cannot run .gifv and .webm in my browser. Can you confirm or deny this?

Do you think that Nexus 5x is still good phone in 2017? Are you still satisfied with it or it should be better take a look for another phone?

that's kinda single case. in general the N5X works very good, is easy to handle/to mod and its greatly supported by developers and Google.
also, the Nexus is always first in getting Android updates alongside with Pixel. so yeah, imo its still worth it to buy.

Satisfied, and it is still a decent device. But if you are a heavy user with so many apps and multitasking requirements, I'd advise against it as a daily driver.
Yes. After more than a month of use, updated to 7.1.1 and jan security update, so far no problem. This one is my daily driver.
For the "right" price of course. You should try and negotiate.
I can buy three Pixels with my budget, but Im not considering changing my 5x as a daily driver yet. Using it since jan 2016, not a single issue except for the back cover getting dirty easily. Light, not too big not too small, not expensive, powerful enough for almost any task, great display, decent stereo speakers with mod, accurate GPS, good battery life with 7.1.1, always up to date, durable and impressive cameras.
Theres no better smartphone on the market IMO, of course depending on your wishes, you wont need anything other that N5X cannot offer.
It depends on who you are. A heavy user playing games, having a tens of apps opened or rather a decent one with social/media focus? This being a good device for sorta a middle demanding user. It's still got very good camera, vanilla Android, regular updates, good dimensions etc... Speaking for myself, I've always been happy with it. It just fits my needs

the value depends on how much money you will spend!
because the 5x have some deficiencies compare with over middle range! display - battery - audio-ram is under the average!
although the cpu is a very good compromise: good performance and very low heat! and the camera is very very good too!
take your sum but i suggest to look something else and more future-proof ( mininum 3 gb of ram )
ps. I bought it because a friend of mine gave it to me for 100 euro 32 gb hehehehe and it have just 5 months. DD

Despite of the bootloop issue happening globally, I strongly suggest avoid buying it or any google device like 6P and other LG Devices for your own good
I just got mine early this month, I bought it coz I know it would still get the next Android version after Nougat. This thing takes great photos, arguably comparable or better than what the current flagships has to offer. And feels just as snappy. I would recommend it.

Of course not all of us would experience that right away, LG itself claimed the hardware problem presented on Nexus 5X devices which causes the device to loop endlessly, telling to refund them as they're no longer have the parts to repair it.
I have my 5X, I bought it 2016, January and I wasn't aware of the hardware problem happening on 5X due to the bad soldering on the motherboard which the flash memory and Snapdragon chip residing on, few days ago I didn't knew that was the end making my $400 phone a paperweight, the worse thing is warranty has already expired plus I'm living outside the US and Europe so Google and LG's support are unavailable and are out of reach, so what now? Google left me out of the blue for nothing on this crap phone. I'm a huge fan of their nexus devices and 5X was my first ever phone I bought and same reason as yours why I bought it, very disappointed so never again to them and LG.
It's not bad for me to say him avoid buying it because I'm just concerned about it, rather than blame everything at the end of the day when it happens...
My opinion: just buy it If you like the stock android with quick updates, and modding/custom rom
If so, it's excellent, great screen, great camera, a lot of community roms/mods so you cant get bored...
But If you are not going to enjoy that you better go to other option

They said the boot loops occurred after the Nougat update. I got the phone under marshmallow and updated it with no issues so far. Not sure if the boot loops occurs on all models though as there's a couple of them. I got the H791 (UK.EU version). Crossing my fingers.
Well, I got it for £200 and it is way worth the money. I think it's okay as a daily driver, but if you had the money - get the Pixel. It's just.. better. If the Pixel is a bit too much maybe get the Nexus 6P. It's an upgrade from this although personally I find 5.2" to be a perfect phone size, and alas the Pixel only comes in 5" and 5.5".

My short answer No, do not buy. I was debating the Moto G4 Plus versus Nexus 5x last November and purchased the Nexus. It is impossible to say whether I would have liked the Moto better or not but I would research alternative phones before purchasing.
My longer answer is that the Nexus 5x works fairly well but often feels laggy, especially if you have too many chrome browser tabs open. Task switching often feels like my old memory constrained Windows 7 desktop computer. This is without playing any games or loading the Facebook app. These statements are made while running totally stock with the 7.0 OS release without any skins or launchers or widgets loaded. Also I might be primarily commenting on software issues with the Chrome Browser rather than the device itself but when on slow Wi-Fi or 3G connections I sometimes experienced greater than one second User Interface glitches when switching between apps or even getting the on screen keyboard to load in order to type. This all happened while on a long vacation/travel where internet access was often bandwidth constrained. Still I found the user experience to be poor even under good network conditions. I kept a few communications/text-chat apps loaded along with the browser and email and occasionally used some banking or calculator or news apps, enough that memory had to be reclaimed which appeared to be the biggest source of the UI pauses.
To add a little more context I purchased the 5x to replace my Asus Zenfone 2 after its wifi interface had died. The Zenfone 2 had 4 GB of memory and always task switched with ease and never felt laggy (though it was not a speed demon) even though it had a heavier skin. My old Nexus 4 was very SRAM constrained which eventually caused me to upgrade but it never felt as unresponsive as the newer 5x.

Then that's great for you your phone is running good 'til now. It just happened nougat is currently rolling out the time more and more users are getting affected because the older the phone, the more it's getting to an end, that's why lots of users feels like nougat is the problem when hardware is the fault itself, google and LG already declared their statement about it.
I'm currently using an HTC One M7. It's still a decent phone, there are even pretty stable Nougat Roms available for it. But it is noticeable struggling when it comes to more demanding tasks. No surprise really, since it's a more than 4 year old phone.
So would you guys say, that the 5X is still worth buying? How is its overall performance? Especially now with Android O?

Haven't used Android O. I don't recommend the phone because there is always a chance of bootlooping. If you are willing to roll the dice then it is a very good phone after modding it. If you want to keep everything stock then it's probably better to get a newer phone with stock android.

I read there was this bootloop issue, but didn't do much reading on it. Is it a hardware issue?
Flashing a custom Rom/rooting it would be the first thing I'd do with the phone.

Yeah it's a hardware issue- basically a low-quality soldering job from Qualcomm. Basically the big cluster of A57 cores eventually fail- though this can be rectified with a custom boot.img/kernel.
I recently purchased a Google-refurb 5X simply for O support (and it was extremely cheap), and it's a fantastic phone. However, as a long term device I can't recommend it.

I recently purchased a Google-refurb 5X simply for O support (and it was extremely cheap), and it's a fantastic phone. However, as a long term device I can't recommend it.

Well, this is obviously not great. But if this is fixable, it might not be as bad.
Official O-support is one of the main reasons I am thinking about buying it. And since the 5X is also out for quite a while now it's not supposed to be a long term solution.

It's not within the ability of a normal person to fix (ie: reflow/repair the solder joints permanently); however, running the CPU with only the small cores (which is essentially the "fix" for the bootloop) should mitigate the problem beyond the practical lifespan of the device.
I'm perfectly happy with a bit of a performance hit- the camera, fingerprint scanner, speakers, dev support, and notification LED are all heckin amazing.
No, I would not recommend it, there are plenty of faster phones that you can get for around the same price. Plus the boot loop issue
I use N5X since 1y. For my low usage it's fine and stays cool, so I exspect still 2y without bootloop. But 2GB RAM will be or become a bottleneck. Remain the fast Andeoid updates - look here for devices, which got Oreo yet.

Yeah, don't know what Google was thinking when they decided to only put 2 GB of Ram in it.
Well, seems like I shouldn't buy it. Guess I'll wait for the Pixel to become a bit cheaper.
I am quite happy with this phone, though due to 2 things (only 2GB of RAM and no SD card) I'll move to some of the Android One models as soon as they're available in Europe, most probably Xiaomi Mi A1 (as long as one can unlock bootloader and root it without issues). I want to stay with clean Android and guaranteed, early and periodic updates. Not too many choices out there, Pixel is too expensive for me.

I'd say exactly that. Been using The n5x for 1 year now but thre 2GB of RAM + the SD808 are just too old to compete with devices like the Mi A1. Surely the SD625 isnt a highend soc but it should perform better then the SD808 because of the 4GB of RAM. I personally will wait until End of the year and maybe buy the Mi Mix 2 if i get it for around 350€. We will see.
The 5X runs Oreo and is scheduled to receive monthly security updates for a year. This alone makes it still a relevant smartphone. One year from now you will certainly see much newer phones still without Oreo. The form, size, and fingerprint reader are near perfect for me. Its biggest limitation is having only 2GB of RAM which affects multitasking. This is most obvious when you use a web browser for a while and then switch back to other tasks because there is an obvious delay which means that the app is being reloaded.
It's like having a $200+ brick, mine bootlooped in the worst moment possible. Overall is a great phone if you are willing to live with the uncertainty of when its going to bootloop. Save your money and buy something better.
Bought mines mines in june 2016, using it till this date, no bootloop problem (as yet hopefully), totally worth the price imo just make sure you enable oem unlocking in the dev menu in case something happens.
I wouldn't recommend this phone, and overall any LG phone. I didn't get the bootloop issue yet but I read A LOT about it and it seems it will come for you one day for sure, usually after 1 year. The only other serious problem with this phone is the overheating, it overheats even if I don't do anything. Only after chatting with a friend for ~20 minutes on messenger with no other apps running, the phone gets hot. Games are even worse...
Next, the phone is fine with most games but don't expect to run all the AAA games on higher than Low (Modern Combat 5, Minecraft [barely], Mortal Kombat, Asphalts, Gangstar...). Android O is mostly fine, has some issues here and there but nothing too serious IMO.
I don't know about you but my answer is NO. This thing did not live up to my expectations at all. The specs read like they are all premium but the device is low quality at best. Using the device is an actual nightmare. The camera is a blurry mess, the GPS never locks, the file system is crap and freezes up when you try to load things. I bought into the gimmick and I lost... Anybody want to buy this piece of junk for a low price so I can buy an iphone and just have something that works?
OH... the bluetooth constantly bugs out... another thing that annoys me every single day.
I like the phone just don't love it. My Pixel 2 XL still feels better when I pick it up. What chaps my hide is when my photos disappear or when my phone app just disappears when I'm talking to someone.
The 7T is just perfect. But I won't buy newer phones if they have display a la "Samsung Edge". I hate the curved one.
I found the 5T to be super premium build quality. It's amazing. The Pixel 2 XL I bought at the same time was absolute junk. It had a noticeably poorer build quality and a really bad OLED screen.
I am getting a 7T Friday and will see if they maintained the great build quality (although I had an 8 Pro I returned for a week and it had excellent build quality like my 5T). I can't see where the OP is coming from regarding it not feeling premium? Is it just an OS perspective? I only ran OOS on my 5T for a couple weeks before switching exclusively to AOSP.

Absolutely yes! I find my 7T is perfect and worthy for the price paid. I don't have any issues or hardware errors.

I don't know actually. I find the OnePlus phones to be still very good, but I'm kinda disappointed on how the team is struggling to keep them updated since they began to release lot of phones every year.
Plus, I like the improvements they made with the camera on the new OP8 Pro, but I want a phone that is totally comparable to iPhones/Galaxy phone in that area if I have to spend 900+ euros.
The 7T is literally perfect.
This is my first OP phone and I'd say - yes. I hope there'll be new OP phone without curved display.
If they release reasonably priced phones with flat screens. The price for the 8-series is too much considering it's a tencent phone.

I would gladly pay $1000 for a flat screened 8 Pro. But it doesn't exist and the S20+, even ignoring the terrible OS skin, is $1350 from Samsung unlocked. That is just too much for basically the same phone and a crippled software experience. And the S20+ has a curved screen as well! Although not as bad as the 8/8 Pro.

I'm having the exact same issues they are. Since most are software related I was hoping updates and custom ROMs could fix,a real shame there isn't any development for this device
For me 7T is almost perfect. I love it. If only battery and average stock camera indoor pic were better. I love to tinker my phone so with gcam , camera issues are solved ?. Since I don't game , so battery is enough for me to last full day with 20% left. YMMV.
I went from OP2 to HTC U11 to OP7T. Have no regrets. Will purchase OP9T if there are no better alternative. I change my phone every 2 years.

Yes, there are as far as I know just 2 ROMs out there... Neither work with MMS on Verizon.
If you have another recommendation would love to hear it- for me just looking for stability and speed.

Yep, had three... OnePlus One, 6T, 7T (bought the 7T when the price went down, sold the 6T).
I don't buy them when they first are released. I wait until a new one is about to be released, then pick up the previous years model
typically at a reduced price.

There are three ROMS available right now. I would recommend Omni for speed and stability, but not sure about your specific use-case.
IDK, no matter what setting I pick, the ringtone for google messages does not work and the do not auto update option in playstore does not work. This is only an issue on the 7T.
