[MOD] [08FEB16] Stock Modified Bootanimations and SplashScreens (More on Request) - One (M9) Themes and Apps

Hi guys. I'm back with this little project.
I've inverted the stock bootanimation and downanimation of the One M9 (for those who prefer the dark background to white).
Recommended to use on ViperOneM9 with a dark theme. Just so it fits in.
I will do more upon request (but it might take some time I guess it doesn't take too much time).
Installation instructions for boot/down animations in next post.
Installation instructions and downloads for splash screens in Post#4.
Use files attached in this post and post#4.

Special thanks:
@iElvis for helping with the splash screens.
@predator1584 for providing the tools and guide to make a splashscreen.
@Basil3 for allowing me to use his files as a base.

Installation Instructions for flashing Boot & Down animations:
Download desired animations from the attachments in post above.
Reboot to recovery (TWRP preferred).
Flash the zip file.
Reboot and enjoy.
If flashing the file does not work, then extract the files from the flashable zip and manually push them to \system\customize\resource\ with permissions 0644 or rw-r--r-- using root explorer (or any other root browser).
If that doesn't work either, then check what your original boot&down animations are called and where they are.

Installation Instructions for flashing splashscreens:
Make sure you have fastboot and adb drivers installed on your computer.
Make sure your device is S-OFF (if it isn't, you cannot flash splashscreens)
Download desired splashscreen from the attachments below.
Save the splash.zip file in your fastboot folder (rename it to splash.zip so no errors).
Reboot your device into fastboot mode and connect to your PC.
Run the following commands:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip splashfilename.zip
fastboot reboot
Enjoy your new splashscreen!
If for some reason you're not able to flash the splashscreen, check the androidinfo.txt in the zip file to check if your CID is there (or just get superCID)

HussainQ great job mate! I am using them now. I loaded them onto Viper 1.9.1 using Root Explorer. I was wondering if you would consider making them with maybe a light blue HTC logo. Would you have the ability to create a custom splash screen as well? Thanks in advance! Keep up the great work mate!

Don't know about the splash screen since I'm not S-OFF and I don't want to ruin anything just yet.
As for the bootanimations, I can try. By light blue do you mean this or this?
PS I'm viewing the colours on the Dark xda theme

It's possible to get inverted splash animation? @HussainQ

Please remove step 4, even if it's optional. It is absolutely not needed, ever, for this purpose.
There are many people here that would do that just because they are not sure how this works, so they will wait 10 to 20 minutes or even more for nothing.
Thanks!

Like I mentioned earlier, I won't be able to make any modifications to splash screens since I don't have S-OFF (Unless ofcourse someone's willing to donate a Sunshine key wink-wink --> Just kidding).
I can certainly try, but I don't want to be responsible for anything that goes wrong.
Also there's some new sort of protection on the splash partitions so traditional methods (that I know of) won't work on S-OFF.

Added HTC One M7 inverted bootup and down animations.
Also guys, can you tell me if the previews are visible.
Thanks

There are already a couple of threads on how to change your splash screen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/themes-apps/mod-create-splash-screens-t3110975
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/themes-apps/mod-splash-screen-collection-htc-one-m9-t3075126
The fastboot method still works. The new restriction is actually a good thing because it only allows new splashes to be flashed in fastboot, which is much safer than the dd-in-recovery method.

There's that. The only reason I preferred the old method was because it was easier (for me since my laptop screwed with all my drivers for Download Mode).
Unfortunately I'm not willing to make anything I can't test myself.
Then again, that IS why I reserved an extra post.

I can not the boot up or boot down boot animations to install, I just flashing with TWRP several times and no go. Then I tried copying the bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip to /system/customize/resource/ with permissions rw-r--r and still no avail, what am I doing wrong?
I'm on stock, rooted with twrp recovery.
Also; do I need S-OFF to change my splash screen as well?

I don't see why they don't work for you. Only moving files manually works for me (I don't know why, but flashing the zips work for others). Check what the original boot&down animation zips in /system/customize/resource are called (post a picture). I remember back on the M7 different firmwares had different names. One had bootanimation.zip and others had htc_bootupone or something like that.
Yes you need S-OFF for splash screens.

There is also bootanimation made from video Speed Demons.
I liked and I had to have it done.... and.... I decided to share it with you

I recommend the one in lendscape mode, but for those who just want bootanimation in portrait mode (slightly elongated ).... I made it.
For those who want, here is bootsound
Enjoy
P.S.
Q: Can you flash this zip with CWM?
A: No, because each ROM developer animations placed in different locations.
(For example:
* On Mike's ARHD ROM bootanimation is located in /data/local and downanimation is located in /system/customize/resource
* On Baadnews InsertCoin One X bootanimation and downanimation are probably located in /system/customize/resource...)
You've got to find where the boot & down animation are located in your ROM and you just chang them using Root Explorer or any other File manager.

Thanks love the black HTC version, so much easier on the eyes!
Now I just need to get rid of the white HTC splash screen, but I believe we need S-OFF to do that.
I just want to say that even your black animations are nice, the background is not really black
I made a true black background version for those who want it.

Bootanimations, single flashables or AIO Enable Boot/Shutdown Aroma Installe (4/3/14)

I finally made the time to put together an Aroma of a handful of my own creations along with some of my favorites! You will have the ability to enable custom Boot Animations for those running stock Roms. This mod will also install the ever so difficult to create "qmg" shutdowns! For the people running the newest Missing Link, you've seen most, but not all of what is here. Added a couple of boots and shutdowns.

THE QUICK GUIDE TO CREATING YOUR OWN BOOT ANIMATIONS"because I can feed you fish and you're good for the night or teach you to fish and you'll be good forever!!"
I have enjoyed boot animations since I started messing around with phones. I finally felt comfortable enough to start making my own and this is how i did it:
1 - First is you need an animation such as a video clip or gif whatever. I personally like them to be less than 30 seconds with the main focal part about 10 secs. By that time the phone has started up.
2 - then you need to extract the frames/convert using infanview or similar app, to image format, jpg is smaller, png is better quality and some just plain look better this way. Using Irfanview in the "options" menu click "extract all frames" then you can fine tune using "file" menu "batch conversion/rename" option
3 - download Boot Animation Factory and thank the dev for such a great tool for previewing and creating Boot Animations. From there the app will take you to creating the bootanimation.zip file needed for your phone.
4 - Then it's just a matter of getting it to where it needs to be. You can check my thread here which gives all the the different locations for various phones store the file for manual installs. There is also the "flashable zips" and "the Aroma Installer" for multiple options!
5 - last thing is to give thanks and credit where it's due and share your wonderful new creations with all of us here on XDA!!! Thank you
that is a very quick run down of how I am making Boot Animations today
I take no credit in creating these animations. I just helped get them working on our device. these made flashable to replace the Samsung "qmg" files. If your ROM allows custom animation simply extract the bootanimation the zip and place in appropriate location.
Just flash from recovery and enjoy!
DOWNLOAD LINKS/INSTRUCTIONS
For the E4GT flashable click here no need to extract or rename, just flash in recover
For the manual install click here and just change name to bootanimation.zip and put it in system/media folder then reboot
The collection keeps growing so much that it's hard to post individual links so I will now link to my dropbox and you may choose from here . I will continue to post previews too I'm also working on putting together one large file with just the direct bootanimation file so there won't be a need to extract if needed. Thank you and enjoy
Here are the bootanimation.zip files that are to be renamed and replace your current bootanimation located in one of the following locations depending on your ROMS file location.
/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip or /data/local/bootanimation.zip or /system/media/bootanimation.zip or /system/customize/resource/spc_bootanimation.zip or /data/local/spc_bootanimation.zip or [/system/media/spc_bootanimation.zip/U] or /system/customize/resource/VZW_bootanimation.zip or [/data/local/VZW_bootanimation.zip/U] or /system/media/VZW_bootanimation.zip or /system/customize/resource/hTC_bootanimation.zip or [U/data/local/hTC_bootanimation.zip] or /system/media/hTC_bootanimation.zip

Thank you, just sharing what I have found and learned here on XDA. Unfortunately from what i have found there isn't to much going on with the shutdown animations, those damn qmg files!!! There are other stock Samsung ones or you might go here to try your hand at creating them. There are a couple custom ones on the page made for the Galaxy S Advance

That's because you are trying to apply the zip using stock Android recovery. Flash a safe kernel using Odin, but make sure you have a stock kernel of your current rom's build in zip format saved to your phone first. Then flash safe kernel(I recommend chris41g's EL26+CWM), then wipe cache, dalvik(good habit), flash the boot animation zip, flash the stock kernel you saved to your phone, and reboot, enjoy. Good luck

I think I see what is happening. I have flashable for our E4GT phones here http://db.tt/ZxehLTloand the other link is for the bootanimation.zip files to be pushed manually to the system/media folder (only works if your ROM supports custom boots).
Download from this link http://db.tt/ZxehLTloand flash from recovery, make sure the zip end with "support.zip". If that still doesn't work let me know

Q&A
How to...
...install the theme:
The theme zips are not flashable. First installation has to be done manually:
Download the theme of your choice and rename it to "ui.zip".
On SD card (if device has internal and external storage, use the internal) open TWRP folder and create a folder called "theme", without capital letters.
Copy ui.zip to theme folder.
Restart to recovery.
...change the theme:
In Materialised settings, select CHANGE THEME.
Select the theme zip you want to use.
Confirm the change.
...remove the theme:
In Materialised settings, select the delete icon on the app bar.
Confirm the removal.
Alternatively, delete the ui.zip from /sdcard/TWRP/theme with a file explorer.
...change the recovery splash screen
In order to change the splash, one must unpack the recovery image, replace the splash and then repack the image.
This can be done using the Android Image Kitchen by @osm0sis, which is available for Windows, Linux and Android (mobile AIK).
The Materialised theme provides a front end for using the mobile AIK.
General prerequisites:
Make sure the splash screen you want to use is in .jpg format and matches your screen resolution (e.g. 1920x1080).
Splash samples can be found along with the themes in the resolution specific download folders over here.
Download a stock TWRP recovery image for your device.
Samsung users have to download .img files or pull them from the .tar files. Repacking .tar files won't work.
Change the splash while in recovery:
Download the AIK-Mobile-Installer.
Flash the AIK zip in recovery.
This will install the required scripts and binaries to \data\local\AIK-mobile.
In Materialised settings, select CHANGE SPLASH.
Select the stock TWRP .img file.
Select the .jpg file you want to use as splash screen.
Set options:
If Automatically install... is unchecked, the repack will only be created and saved to the same folder as the stock TWRP image.
If checked, the repacked recovery will also be installed on your device.
If Include current theme... is checked, the theme in its current state (accent color) will be included in the repack, replacing the stock TWRP ui.
The ui.zip will automatically be deleted from /sdcard/TWRP/theme, as it is no longer required.
Be aware that changing the accent color won't be possible with an integrated theme.
In general, I'd recommend to not include the theme into the repack. By keeping the ui.zip, there's always the stock ui as a fallback option in case there's something wrong with the theme.
Start repacking/flashing with a swipe.
During the process, Repacking in progress... will be shown.
Change the splash on a Windows PC:
Download and unpack Android Image Kitchen Win32.
Copy the stock TWRP .img file to the Image Kitchen folder.
In windows explorer, drag & drop the recovery image on the "unpackimg.bat".
Unpacking will create two new folders (ramdisk and split_image).
Rename the splash of your choice to "curtain.jpg" and drop it into /ramdisk/twres/images.
Hit "repackimg.bat".
This will create a "image-new.img", which you can then flash away using your preferred method.
...install image files while in recovery:
The theme currently utilises the Flashify script by @osm0sis to install boot, radio and recovery images.
The script comes with the theme and will automatically be installed to /sdcard/TWRP/flashify if required.
On the Install page, tap on Install Zip.
Select Install Image.
Select the .img file you want to flash.
Select the image type.
This selection determines the target partition. Make sure not to flash a radio.img to the boot partition...
Start flashing with a swipe.
...use the AROMA File Manager:
AROMA File Manager is not part of the theme.
The theme just contains a "shortcut" for directly starting AROMA FM, rather than going through the "install > flash zip" procedure.
Download this flashable zip.
Flash the zip in recovery.
This will copy the Aroma FM package to \TWRP\aromafm.
In Materialised settings, tick the option to use Aroma FM.
From the main menu, the theme will now start Aroma FM instead of the TWRP file manager.
...resolve common issues
When I reboot to recovery, the theme isn't applied. Any ideas?
This is most likeley due to wrong naming of the theme folder or the ui.zip.
Make sure the folder is named "theme", without capital letters.
Also check if you accidentally renamed the downloaded zip to "ui.zip.zip" (common pitfall when renaming the zip in windows explorer).
When I reboot to recovery, I get a "recovery bootloop". Is my phone broken?
Nope, this is most likeley due to a bad download.
Please download the theme again using another browser or app.
Splash Screens and Recovery Repacks
Resources for creating custom Splash Screens
I've prepared a Splash Set for users to create their own splash screen from. The Splash Set contains:
an SVG file that can be edited using Inkscape
Roboto True Type Fonts (install them before you start to edit the SVG)
a folder with 1080x1920 sample curtains
Download: Splash Set
Preview: Gallery with sample splash screens created from the SVG
Collections of Splash Screens
If you want to share your splash screens, please prepare a post other users can download them from.
This post will then be linked from here.
Only splash collections will be linked (sets that cover multiple resolutions or accent colors for a certain resolution).
Collections of Recovery Repacks
If you want to share your recovery repacks, please prepare a post other users can download them from.
This post will then be linked from here.
Only repack collections will be linked (sets that cover all accent colors for a dark or light base version).

logo.bin to remove unlocked warning and WITHOUT N/A! (flashable .bin + instructions)

Hello guys,
I've created with the help of the Motorola Boot Logo Maker (https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/themes-apps/app-motorola-boot-logo-maker-source-t2848667) two boot logos to remove the odd "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" banner from bootloader.
As base I used the modded logo.bin and for one picture (the colourful) one logo of this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/themes/modded-logo-bin-to-eliminate-phone-t3586169
Then I took the black version from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/development/remove-bootloader-unlocked-warning-t3702353 and modified it so the N/A text is hidden.
I've created 5 versions:
Logo black - filled:

To download the .bin (in the corresponding .zip) just scroll at the end of this post and download your prefered version.
INSTALLATION:
To install the boot logo:
1. download the .zip of your prefered version on your Computer
2. extract the "logo.bin" file
3. start your Smartphone into bootloader
4. open the folder on your PC with the "logo.bin" file, start cmd/shell in this folder (shift+right click) and enter: "fastboot flash logo logo.bin" (without quotation marks)
5. reboot and enjoy!
Just a question . So we can either flash the Zip or extract it and flash the bin file .. or am I wrong ?
I tried on Moto Z Play and while the ZIPs don't work the logos almost do. flashboot flashing the logo.bin from logowhitering.zip crops off the "by android" part and shows "n/a".
But it's better than that scary nonsense so thanks!
Edit: nevermind, our logos are https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/themes/logo-bin-t3538153 here.

The versions for Moto Z doesn't work on Moto Z Play, since it has a different screen resolution.
But if you want, I could create a version for the Moto Z Play too (but I couldn't test if it works, you would have to tell me).
Thanks but I am good.
Hey guys.
I made an all black pixel 2-ish boot logo ( it fits with the Pixel 2 black 1440p boot animation ).
The N/A icon can be seen since it's a black background, tho.

You need to write it to the system partition. You must have an unlocked bootloader and this will break OTAs.
I've got instructions in here, using TWRP to copy the file into the right place.

FYI if you want clean from the 1st .zip that didnt work : boot into twrp, mount system partition, go to advanced / file manager, delete the media directory between license and mnt (there should be a system directory lower, with a media directory inside, be sure to dont touch them!)

but the "Unlocked" text is visually of lower quality than the original. like it's not smooth. you can't clearly read it. also the big "android" text is jaggedy around the edges unlike the original. what you did is still great and I'm using it regardless. just saying that it's not the original resolution. and if you insist that it's the same resolution then the image has degraded significantly for some other reason
