can't configure sound volume for ringtone and notifications separately - bugging me. - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so, there is no root, yet, and I think xposed wont work on the device for now.
is there another way to separate the volume of notifications and the ringer?
I want the notifications to be almost quiet but the ringer to be strong.

Another thing that is from S5 is the wifi scheduler. That option was available that i could define at what time i wanted the phone to turn ON or OFF the wifi. Since this is not possible in G4, what's the best app for this?

You can always visit the play store and search for a WiFi scheduler. Test which ones work best for you

I use an app called profile scheduler. You can schedule all kinds of things on it based on time, whether or not an app is open, if you're connected to a specific bluetooth, location, etc. I've used many of these types of apps and this is the one I've stuck with for the past 5 or 6 years.

[Q] Vibrate....gotta be a way to increase the "oomph"!!!! Right?!?

I love this phone...but for my purposes, having it on vibrate = having it on silent. I missed TWO job interview calls having my phone on vibrate in my pants! I barely had time to call 'em back today to set up an in-person!!!!
I found a program a few weeks ago to handle my volume problems....is there a program that handles the vibration problems??? I guess I'm one step away from changing the vibration to just one long vibrate for texts and calls....but this soft motor probably still won't help it out!
Anything? Or am I doomed to putting this on craigslist and waiting for the next big phone???

I think it agitates everyone pretty well actually.
To be on topic, though, I don't know of any apps, or software mods at all really, that will increase the power on the vibration. That's a hardware thing.

Really? Seems great to me. Way better than my previous HTC phones.
Apparently Light Flow has settings where you can set particular vibrations for particular notifications (i.e. how long & how frequent you want them). Haven't tested it myself, but I've read about it. Link. Perhaps if Light Flow doesn't work, try Sound Manager V2?

I tried light flow but I could never seem to get it to play nice w/Handcent.. It'd always stutter my ringtone. Even when I turned notifying for Handcent off...
On a table, it works fine. On a bed or couch or pocket...it's garbage. And I really didn't notice it until last week when I needed it on vibrate. Now, I wish I'd noticed it during the 30 day period of returning the phone....
Shoot!

[Q] Anyone use Llama?

I just downloaded and setup Llama. So far it has been very handy in letting me adjust my settings based on whether I am at work or home.
However, I attempted to setup an event to toggle GPS on when I open the Maps application and to turn off GPS when I close the application. However, it doesn't do so! It did note that it cannot do this on ICS as the permissions to do so have changed. However, via Google Search, I did find some mention of it working for some people but they didn't say how.
Anyone here able to do that? If so, how? If not, any other suggestions (Tasker?) on how I can accomplish this?
It doesn't work on stock. Use custom ROM like CM.

You probably already got your answer or quit looking by now but you can toggle gps. You need to use the Secure Settings plugin from the Play Store. I think you might need to be a root user to unlock all the functionality as was mentioned before but mine works like a charm now.
Another great find for me was using the Smart Shortcuts app so that when I plug in my headphones, llama turns down my volume to a manageable level and pops up a list of apps (pandora, google music, stitcher...) I use my headphones with. I do the same for when I plug in any USB, it pops up with a link to care home or clock or my alarm app because I'm usually only plugging in at night or in the car.
I just wish I had some other ideas to look through. I'm sure there is a lot more this thing can do that I'm not thinking about.

I think there is an explanation in the app. Google changed how gps could be toggled. I gave up turning off gps a long time ago. It really only uses power when an app requests it and judging by the notification it's not very often. By default llama uses cell towers, but I use wifi to pin point my location. That way my Bluetooth doesn't turn off until I reach my driveway.

[Q] Steering wheel icon?

So I won a bid on ebay about an almost new inc 2 with some problem
The car mode can not be turned off and when there is incoming call, the speaker is always on and under normal conditions apps won't have sound
After a search online, it seems to be a common problem about the usb dock connector, so I ordered a flex connector with usb dock online and replaced the one in my phone and the issues seems gone
Apps can have sound, incoming calls don't turn speakers on by themselves, and the phone doesn't goes to dock mode from time to time.
however, the steering wheel is still on the screen and I cannot get rid off this thing, any thoughts or suggestions? are there any indications the phone is still in dock mode? I've attached a pic about the strange icon. Your input is appreciated.
Another noob question is about the rom. I'm planning to flash this thing to pageplus prepaid, is it still able to get the possible ICS update from verizon? I've browsed the dev section and seems there are few ics or jb roms running on the device perfectly. Or after the phone is flashed to PPC, can I still install third-party roms without problem? I really want a rom that's stock android, i.e, not customized with bloatwares, like the stock rom in nexus phone.
Once again, thanks for your help.
Steering wheel icon - LMAO! I have to thank you for this post because I almost pooped myself reading this.
That's the location icon. You can get rid of it by flashing a ROM, assuming you have root. You do realize your phone is in airplane mode as well?

Ahh, my first turns out to be a stupid one. Then all my worries are solved.
I have optimus t, first gen galaxy tab, and xoom tab now, but never seen this icon that's why
what's the location for? it looked exactly like a steering wheel, if not the one in a car, then the one in a ship.

What's it for? Hell if I know. If you have the location services turned on in settings, it pops up. It is an annoyance. Most ROMs you will flash have the icon removed or the ability to remove the icon through tweaks or a patch.
I do agree - it does look a bit like a steering wheel.

Someone or me can root the stock rom then you can flash it, don't know about that mobile service but as long as the bands are compatible you should be able to do it. If you want rom without sense Aero has unofficial cm9 and condemned has one based on AOKP both are more pure android with no sense

You shouldn't need to flash the phone for it to work on pageplus. As long as it's a Verizon phone that was not originally sold as a prepaid device it should work as is.
Just out of curiousity, how did you screenshot with a stock rom

Uh I think he meant stock, non-rooted ROM, in which case there is no native screenshot function such as home + power.

Strangely, it's gone by it self this morning, wired
Maybe it's time to go for an aftermarket rom
Or maybe you've evaded the location tracking service. You may be a ninja.

Before I give you the longer work around, I found this info:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...tle-sound-warning-when-increasing-volume.html
"I went into music settings and checkmarked the option to set all songs to the same volume. Now when I increase the volume, the warning message doesn't come up at all, and I can increase volume to the maximum if I want. Finally, I've been trying to fix this problem for ages, and I know others are experiencing this as well! Try this out and give me a shout if it works for you."
Try tweaking that setting in the stock music app.
If that doesn't work for you, you'll have to install the Xposed Framework and enable a module which can disable the setting.

This is in regards to the Galaxy S IV, but it will work for the S III, too.

[Q] which app does the pop up in notification page when headphones are plugged in?

Recently rooted my tab and while following a list of bloatware to freeze, I have frozen this app that I'm unsure of the name that I actually make use of this feature.
It's the one when headphones are plugged in, the apps that associated with headphones will be shown in the notification page.
Anyone know which is it?
