Trying to root device using AIO toolkit by Hasoon. SuperSU not getting pushed to SD. - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm trying to use hasoon2000's AIO toolkit in order to root my HTC One M8 (T-Mobile). I am following the guide outlined in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066390
I've flashed the recovery, all that I need to do now is click "Perm Root" to push supersu.zip onto my phone, and then use the recovery to install the zip. However, when I click perm root, i get the following message:
failed to copy 'su/supersu.zip' to '/sdcard/supersu.zip' permission denied

After I go to the recovery, I see supersu.zip there, and I flash it using the recovery, but I don't think it is a full and proper installation because when I enter supersu from my phone, it is telling me that "binaries" are not installed. I am assuming this is because of the denied permissions. USB debugging is definitely on. Any advice?

Does it also tell you to click a button to update the binaries? Do that.
Also, why are you using a toolkit? Rooting the M8 is super easy.
I always suggest to never use toolkits unless there is no other option to gain root. Usually for cheap third world devices like Micromax.
EDIT:
Here:
Go to this link, and download the "UPDATE SuperSU.zip" onto your phone.
Flash it in recovery.
Find it in your app drawer and open it.
Update the binaries.
You are now rooted.

If you are running Lollipop, the SuperSU version that comes with the toolkit is quite obsolete, and won't work anyway.
Just download the current (2.46) version SuperSU and flash it like xunholyx says.

Confirm in bootloader, that is says UNLOCKED.
What hboot number, and what version TWRP are you trying to flash?

What happens if you type the command: fastboot devices
The response should be the phone ID; which corresponds to your serial number, I believe, so do NOT post it.

Why are you trying to flash in recovery mode? You need to be in fastboot mode to flash via fastboot.
Have you got the proper fast boot drivers?

Just today the camera is not working properly. It is impossible to take a picture because there is some problems with focus and the noise of its drive... 3 or 4 weeks to have it back!!!
thanks, news asap.

I was following those instructions. When I run the command fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-m7vzw.img I get the error Failed (Remote: Not Allowed).
I have found a few things not specific to the HTC One that indicate I need to move TWRP into a recovery.img file inside a file like PD98IMG.zip that is automatically found in HBOOT. I can't seem to get that to work since I don't know the name the HTC One is looking for ands the ones I've guessed don't work.
Any more ideas?
Are you sure you unlocked the phone? Is there an "*UNLOCKED*" banner in the bootloader?
If you have S-OFF and are unlocked just flash a superuser .zip and you are rooted.

Same Error trying to flash any .zip. I get the Failed (Remote: not allowed).
Get Flashify from the market and see if you can flash a twrp
custom recovery img. Then flash the superuser .zip.

I had already tried Flashify. I gave a message about the phone not being supported for flashing recovery images.
Ok, so to post an answer in case anyone else runs into this issue. I did have S-Off, I was Unlocked and I did have Superuser installed. To overcome the Failed (Remote: not allowed) error I had to run the cmd window (Windows 7) as an Administrator.
Thanks for the suggestions. Bone headed oversight on my part.

i'm also stuck. i'm on a vzw htc one, s-off worked, but i cannot flash TWRP or CWM and thus, cannot get superuser. i tried the both versions of CWM (touch and regular) and the latest TWRP. no dice.
i am on android version 4.2.2, htc sense 5, 1.10.605.15.
s-off is confirmed UNLOCKED in bootloader menu. i used the correct version from rumrunner. i'm getting really frustrated. firewall, antivirus, etc, is all off. drivers are in tact. ADB commands work and i can navigate between fastboot and ABD when running command prompt as admin.
HELP!

Can you post a link to which version of the recoveries you are trying to flash?
Trouble with achieving root.
I just got an HTC One, ran rumrunner and achieved S-Off, but not root. I used the correct rumrunner for the ROM I have (1.10.605.15). I realize I could flash a custom recovery, but I'm looking to just root and continue to use Sense with the stock recovery for the convenience of OTA updates.
I tried to use the "fastboot boot" command to load up an image of TWRP (2.6.3.3) and then install root from there, but for some reason my device just freezes on the fastboot screen despite what feedback my console is giving me. I tried waiting and then flushing the cache to see what the result was. Picture below. Any help is appreciated.
Same here. I just got an HTC one from Verizon yesterday. Turned S-Off using runrunner. Verified root but can not access recovery. I had the same issue with a S4 but it was a known issue for all that has updated to the 4.3.
I have tried all the suggestions above. I am wondering if this is a Verizon related issue? Maybe they are putting something on their phones to prevent recovery?
HELP!!!!

The day Verizon does that is the day Google blocks them from using the play store. Either you are doing something wrong or you have corrupted nand memory.

Basic question: My recovery screen shows "***UNLOCKED***, M7_WLV PVT SHIP S-OFF RH". Does this indicate a state of S-OFF or S-ON? I ran rumrunner and thought that I had achieved unlocked and S-OFF status but I cannot run fastboot from a command line. I keep getting the reply that "fastboot" is not recognized as a command. So, I cannot flash twrp and I cannot gain root access. I'd be grateful for any assistance.

From what you said you should be unlocked and s-off. Download twrp image and flash it with Flashify from the Play Store. That is what I did.
Rumrunner didn't jive with my windows 8.1.

Thanks for the reply. I tried Flashify but since I don't have root, I can't run it. Apparently, rumrunner did not gain root on my device. I'm currently running rumrunner again to see if I can get some joy.

M7WLV is the Google Play Edition of the HTC One, but this Forum is devoted to the Verizon variant of the HTC One, namely M7VZW.

[Q] Rooted and S-OFF

I have a Verizon HTC One Rooted and S-OFF and I'm trying to install custom recovery but whenever I input the fastboot prompt and the flash recovery, it says command not found.
I am doing this on a Mac, I already unlocked my phone with Firewater (great software) and rooted with Weaksauce (also good!). I am just having trouble with recovery!
Help!?!?

OK - I'm a total noob at this - but I'll start off by asking some obvious questions
are you able to do adb devices and see your device? if so, what does it say when you do adb devices?
For a guide to install recovery, i used the guide on phonearena - seemed the simplest and most straight forward. I can't post a link - I'm too much of a noob.

I had the same problem as i used a mac to, still never got around to installing it via fast boot but what i did is install the app "Flashify" on google play and then downloaded twrp 2.7.0.1 onto my phone then flashed a recovery through the app. it worked great but you should still get fast boot working incase your phone messes up in the future and you need to use adb commands or fast boot commands to flash a RUU or something like that.

You need ADB and Fastboot to be working.
I would assume you have them working since you used firewater. Reboot to hboot, then select fastboot. Does it change to say "fastboot USB"? What happens when you execute "Fastboot devices" from the computer?

I'm not an expert . But I think you can't flash stock Rom from custom recovery. You must do it with Adb commands or what they like to call flash in fastboot mode. And for getting official firmware updates from HTC you need to setup stock recovery. I dunno but you may have to lock boot loader and S-ON too. But not sure. As I said, I'm not an expert

No, if he's S-OFF there is no need to lock bootloader or to go S-ON.
He can just download the recovery stock .img file and flash it through command prompt. When he's done and the phone restarted he should get the OTA update.
Only issue he might run into, if he's rooted he'll lose root access and will have to reroot, it happened to me, but it's not a major issue though.

Instructions for? To flash back stock recovery?
1. Download the recovery from the link provided (Make sure it's the correct recovery, correct base number etc)
2. Place the downloaded recovery .img file in the adb folder where fastboot.exe is (by default it'll be in the platform-tools folder) - Though if you did a custom recovery you're probably already familiar with this.
3. Hold shift and right click anywhere in the white area of the folder > go to "open command prompt/window here"
4. Plug usb cable into device and connect up to computer (All familiar surely if you did custom recovery)
5. Commands:
a) adb devices ... to check if device is connected, should see serial number of device.
b) adb reboot bootloader
c) fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
d) fastboot reboot
Done.
Once the device restarted you should get the prompt for the OTA update(Depending on settings of course), you can then do OTA update.
To get mainversion number for the recovery you need. Just go to software information(in settings menu > about > software information) and check for OS version number or connect device to computer, reboot into bootloader adb reboot bootloader then type fastboot getvar version-main to see main version for device.

Actually, I forgot that. I need to lock boot loader if I'm S-ON but don't need if S-Off

One M8 stuck on black screen with HTC logo and a triangle in each corner

I can't post what it looks like as I'm new here, but when I can I will.
I can't do anything from here. The problem arose a few weeks when I was trying to covert from GPE back to stock, after doing a factory reset in the bootloader I got stuck like this, and I haven't been able to fix it since.
I can't use adb as USB debugging isn't enabled since there is literally no android on my phone.
Fastboot works, but I can't reboot into bootloader or fastboot or whatever it is via fastboot reboot-bootloader, as when I try it just turns the screen off and takes me back to here. I also can't get to the bootloader or fastboot via power and volume buttons.
I also can't flash anything, and can't reboot into TWRP recovery, which I somehow managed to install but I forgot how.
The bootloader is relocked, but it is still s-off and rooted if that helps.
Really not sure what to do, I need my phone back, any help would be appreciated.
Also, when I flash an RUU, it does everything and then comes up saying
FAIL51 partition update fail
FAILED (remote: 51 partition update fail)
Okay, I'm not sure if this will work but please try to just boot twrp or stock recovery with the following command:
Code:
fastboot boot image.img
It seems like it does this because your bootloader is relocked
I've managed to fix everything.. Almost.
Now I can get into TWRP, and use adb push to get cm12 onto my device, but when i hit install on TWRP it just says unable to mount /data, /system and storage.
It's the latest version of TWRP and I don't know what to do. Maybe my phone isn't rooted anymore? How can I root it with no OS?

I think you don't exactly know what root is. Root access is a type of access the running OS has to alter the system partition.
You do not root a phone, you root the running software ! An unlocked bootloader, custom recovery has nothing to do with root access.
You do not need to root it, you need to flash or restore an OS, whether it's rooted or not.

YOu can't flash anything with a relocked bootloader. That is what a relocked or locked bootloader means. You need to unlock it again to flash anything.
Thanks for the help guys, I got it myself in the end. I flashed CWM instead of TWRP and used adb sideload to flash CM12 and Gapps and everythings working fine.

You need to be in bootloader-fastboot mode, for fastboot commands to work.
Reboot to bootloader. If "fastboot" is not already highlighted in red near the top, select fastboot with vol keys and confirm with power button.

HTC 10 cannot enter recovery mode; this build is for development purposes only

Hello there,
After unlocking my bootloader, flashed a new recovery twrp I tried to enter the recovery mode. It keeps showing a red message saying "This build is for development purposes only" and after a while reboots to bootloader menu without allowing me to enter recovery mode. Any guesses?
Thank you in advance!
Which recovery version did you flash? And what did you do to enter recovery mode?

Hello,
It's the twrp-3.0.2-2-pme.
When phone is off, I push the volume down and the power button to enter to download mode, after that boot to bootloader and to recovery. That is when an HTC logo appears with this strange red message and after a while it reboots to bootloader mode.

Does download mode show that it is Unlocked for sure?
You may need to do the RUU for your exact model to get things right again.

This phone is new to you I assume since you stated that you've just unlocked the bootloader, but your CID is changed to SuperCID and that wouldn't be done without some previous modifications?
You have a Sprint device (according to your MID), so SuperCID is useless. You can only use Sprint firmware on a Sprint model.
What does it say next to "OS" in download mode? It should be x.xx.651.x
I would suggest you run the newest Sprint RUU. The RUU will wipe your phone, but since it's new to you that shouldn't matter. Plus unlocking the bootloader already wiped it.
Click on this link.
Scroll down to the "Manual System Update Instructions" and read them. The RUU download is at the end of the instruction.
After you've run the RUU, flash TWRP 3.1.1-0 again and it should work.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the red warning "This build is for development purposes only". That is nothing to worry about. You get it after you unlock the bootloader

Yes it does.
I'll try to put the stock RUU again and flash directly the twrp, without unlocking the bootloader.

Thank you very much for your time,
So, if I get it right, I put the stock RUU again and without unlocking the bootloader (as I previously did), I will flash directly the twrp. Right?

Once unlocked, the bootloader remains unlocked forever or until you give Android tools command to relock.
Running the Sprint RUU will most likely fixxxx it...
And yes, after you have it running right, boot to download mode and flash the newer TWRP that someone here recommended.
Then root with SuperSU or Magisk v14 and above, or install a custom rom from great choices here.

No. Leave the bootloader unlocked. You don't need to relock it, and it should remain unlocked after the RUU has run.
You can't flash TWRP with a locked bootloader

Ok ok, sorry but this is my first time with this kind of stuff, so... I will flash the twrp and then I will try to install the official unlocked ROM

No need to be sorry.
Don't bother flashing TWRP first. When you run the RUU it will install the stock recovery and TWRP will get overwritten.
Run the RUU, then install TWRP after.

I put the stock SPRINT RUU, flashed the TWRP, wiped data, adb pushed the supersu.zip file into the phone and flashed it. After the flash was successful I reboot the system but it isn't setting. After the HTC logo on the starup it reboots automatically to bootloader.. :$
reboot reason: 0x776655aa
reboot message: KP: init PC:adsp_boot_store+0x2cc/0x368 LR:ad sp_boot_store+0x2cc/0x368

I'll send you a PM to ask for some info to check if your device is indeed a Sprint one. With SuperCID enabled (and s-off obviously), it's hard to tell what has been done to you phone.

Hey,
I have already solved this problem, but thank you very much!
Now I have another one:
I put the stock SPRINT RUU (because my cell phone is a sprint unlocked), flashed the TWRP, wiped data, adb pushed the supersu.zip file into the phone and flashed it. After the flash was successful I reboot the system but it isn't setting. After the HTC logo on the starup it reboots automatically on bootloader.. :$
