I'm using v5.0.2 and an USB OTG microSD card reader. It worked without issue when the microSD card was formatted with exFat. I had to root and use an additional program (OTG USB Helper) to get NTFS and ext2,3,4 support plus flash a small small system file change. So if you stick with exFat format you should not need to root.

So, will it work like on kitkat 4.4.2?

I never used OTG on 4.4.2 as I upgraded the OS as soon as I got my Tab S powered on. So I cannot answer that question. What I can say is that on lollipop v5.0.2 an OTG connected micoSD card formatted in extFat was accessible. As I'm now rooted and have applied some patches I cannot add any more as my device no longer matches the parameters (stock, unrooted, lollipop) of your original question.

Android One doesn't support OTG.
But there's a discussion for developing a kernel to support OTG.
You can check it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...e-general/compile-kernel-otg-support-t3085794

Hello, thank you for your reply.
I don't understand. Can you expand your reply ? TWRP recovery can be installed on any device without bricking it ? Or we need a different version edited for one device model ?
I am new on this forum. Can you give me a link for a TWRP that can be installed on my device ?
Thank you

Q: Why do i need to format data partition?
A: Because old rom encrypted your data partition and new rom can't decrypt and use that content / root needs access to data partition to place misc files / phone not booting after flashing root until data partition gets formatted.
Q: Why not formatting data at twrp install?
A: Phone will boot even if data is encrypted if you don't root. Also system partition is not encrypted meaning you can flash RMM-State_Bypass anyway.

Hello,
I'm glad to see that this thread helped someone, even years after
Recently, I installed lineage OS (with Android 11) on this phone to give it a second life.
Because I wish Samsung would have provided OS updates for longer time.
Enjoy the root, and have a good day
