The Ulefone Paris comes with a metal, thin and light design that is very similar to Apple's iPhone 6 / iPhone 6S design language.
The screen measures 5 inches and comes with a fitting 1280*720 resolution. The specs and resolution might not be top notch, but it is ideal for such a small screen and the viewing experience will not be impacted. This model is very good value for money!

Ulefone's next 5-inch device will be called “Paris”
Days ago Ulefone asked their users on Facebook to help name their next 5-inch device between Ulefone Lite and Air. But a banner appeared yesterday on their official site showing that there will come a new phone named Ulefone Paris. The company confirmed that the two actions referred to the same device.
It’s not clear why the naming should change all in a sudden. But it seems to us that the company wants to add the phone some flavor of art derived from the New Wave. The banner reveals the launch time will be next month and the place, well, I don’t think will really be under the Eiffel tower.
According to early news, the specs of Ulefone Paris will include 5-inch HD display, and MTK6753 chipset. But it’s not sure if there will be change on these features, too.
Totally, the next 1 month or so, it is expected to see 3 new products from Ulefone, including the 6200mAh-battery device Ulefone Power and the Smartwatch Ulefone Uwear, beside the Ulefone Paris as before mentioned.
(Source from Ulefone.com)
------------------------------------------------------------
Ulefone Paris Design Revealed: A hybrid of iPhone 6 and Meizu MX4
I got some real photos of the Ulefone Paris, which shows that the 5-inch Ulefone device will borrow the design of both iPhone 6 and Meizu MX4.
Or you can say it is a mini Ulefone Be Touch 2 just with the iPhone-6-particular push home button changed into a touch button as also seen on the Meizu MX4 and M1 Note. The circular button will also have light as on the Meizu phones when it is touched. And there will actually be capacitive menu and back buttons with light, left and right to the home key but they are invisible when not used.
The Ulefone Paris also inherited the 2.5D glass and metal frame from Ulefone Be Touch and Be Touch 2. And the general design is not very different, just smaller, and maybe thinner.

Ulefone Paris , the name is interesting!

Ulefone believes the size of 5-inch best balances between the eyes, which favor a big display, and the hands, which favor small for comfortable handle. To spread their philosophy, the company even made a video where Ulefone Paris was placed at the balance point of a scale among bigger and smaller phones. Indeed, 5-inch phones will be easier to handle than 5.5 or bigger ones and still represent a big market where users weigh one-hand operability over visual joy.

I prefer 5". Almost all Chinese manufacturers continually release the 5.5" ones. Apparently Ulefone find another way out.
What's more, the 129.99 USD price is reasonable.

I prefer 5" phones as well as my hands are small

Post #1 Updated with a real FULL REVIEW with english comments of the Ulefone Paris

@s7yler I suggest providing Ulefone with your opinions on how to optimise and refine the Paris's software here: http://blog.ulefone.com/giveaway-share-your-ideas-to-make-ulefone-paris-perfect/

Nice! I am really looking forward to it.

Battery is good
I've been worried about battery life since it's only 2250mAh, but it is not a problem in real world. The test by the S7yler shows that Ulefone has been used a better battery. But 50mAh does not explain the issue. I think Paris is well optmized in energe enfficiency.

Any idea when TWRP or any similar custom recovery would be available for this phone? I hope devs show this phone some love :fingers-crossed:

Olefin paris
It is a good average phone
Not the top market one but it still makes its job and is very nice.
I made a back cover look alike carbon fibre using a spare vinyl I had at home

Can someone kindly tell me how to get , without problems..root permission on the "Ulephone Paris"..?
Thanks

Display problem
Thanks for the review. Paris arrived a week ago, single white spot on bottom left of display. Anybody else? Difficulties with wifi (needs to be reconnected despite full connectivity). Otherwise phone is nice.

Hello..!
After using this smartphone for a few days.. I can say that it works very well. As write above... I would to get root permissions but no application used till now has worked (kingo Root, Kingroot, Root Genius).

I have bought this smartphone and I'm very satisfied!!
About the root and recovery, in italian forum we are trying in every mode, but the lonely solution can come from a recovery modded, because with the stock recovery we can't install anything.
Now, we have found a solution on russian forum 4PDA. They have posted a modded recovery and said that it work. Is TWRP Recovery 2.8.7.0 usb-otg. Unfortunately I can't download it because I'm not registered, and I don't know how to do.
If someone want try, I can give you the link of the discussion, here for you.

Finally we are at the end of the search of root for this fantastic phone, before to pass to on how to get the root, I wanted to thank Bovirus for its continuous interest despite not having our phone, nerik73 that has found the discussion in Russia and sent me the files for test and especially me, although I lost count of how many times I sent in brick the phone, I never gave up. But let us.
As we know, at present it does not seem to exist programs (for PC, or apk format) that allow you to make the root directly, and so the only solution is to flash it through recovery, which obviously has to be modded.
Short introduction, before venturing into the process, try to be clear that can go wrong and you end up with your phone bricked, but that the solution exists and is called SP Flash Tool. Get familiar with this program, download the official firmware Stock (you can find it HERE ). In case everything goes wrong, you can just flash the firmware original and start again. I remind you that a modded recovery, will preclude the way for future new official update. Before update it, and make your calculations.
To begin then, download SP Flash Tool which in its latest version for Windows, you will find HERE (thanks Bovirus). Unpack and get ready to use it.
As I said the first thing to do is install the modding recovery (TWRP) you can found it HERE. Unpack this file and put it in a folder where inside there will be the scatter file and the file "recovery.img".
Now begins the real work of installation.
Open the program SP Flash Tool and first go the top right and click where it says "scatter-LOADING", and select the file scatter you find inside the folder you just created. At this point, will load several files, you must go on the left and from the drop-down menu select "FIRMWARE UPGRADE". Be careful not to mistake this step because sometimes you could change by yourself and then the risk of overwriting your IMEI.
Go down below and make sure that one of the selected files, there is only "RECOVERY". At this point you are ready to flash.
Before you press the button "DOWNLOAD" in the top, remember that your smartphone must be off. For safety, remove the battery and let the taken for ten seconds and then put it back, BUT NOT TURN ON THE PHONE, and not connect it to your PC.
At this point you can press up on DOWNLOAD, and only after, the phone must be connected to the PC.
The procedure lasts a few seconds and a message will appear at the center of the screen. At this point you can remove the phone from your PC and reboot into recovery to see if everything went well.
The image of the new touch recovery, is this:
At this point you have the modded recovery. I want to clarify that I do not know why, this procedure had work for me after the second flash, and tje first time I found myself again with the original recovery.
If this happens to you, you redo the procedure again.
Now we have to install our SuperSU and Busybox through recovery .... this is the real root procedure.
We download the file from HERE (SuperSU) and HERE (BusyBox) and let's put it as it is, in our MicroSD card the phone.
Reboot the phone into recovery and press INSTALL (remember that the recovery is touch), it will open this window:
Find your SuperSU file, select it and swipe down to confirmed the operation. Find also your Busybox file, and do the same thing. Then, always with the swipe, at the end of everything, restart the terminal.
CONGRATULATIONS ... YOU HAVE ROOTED YOUR ULEFONE PARIS !!!

@cuvetto
As I explained in Italian forum, please take care that when you just update sa single module the right mode for Flashtool is "DOWNLOAD ONLY" and not FIRMWARE UPGRADE.
It's works in your situation just because with the scatter this is only one file (recovery.,img) but if you made this selection with full ROM it select ALL MODULES and you refalsh ALL ROM (included data).
For this it's better to seelct DOWNLOAD ONLY and not FIRNWARE UPGRADE.

xposed-v75-sdk22-arm64 module not working

Thanks that's worked fine.
Notice, the xposed module (xposed-v75-sdk22-arm64.zip) does not working on this device for me. It causing boot loop. So we need to wait until someone find a solution.

When I try to flash the recovery, when I plug the phone, it just starts charging and the screen turns on with the battery. Does it has to be fully charged? Oh and btw what drivers do I need for the phone?
---------- Post added at 07:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:26 PM ----------
Oh and in your picture with SP Flash I see there is writing under the phone img. I dont get that.

Nvm... I just had to install VCOM drivers. Sucsesfully rooted

Doogee Dagger DG550 White 5.5" OGS IPS, Kitkat 4.4, Octa Core 1.7Ghz MTK6592

Hi, I ordered the 5.5 inch Doogee Dagger DG550 in white last week from Gearbest, I received it with DHL Express after just 3 days. I did not want to spend much, but still wanted a nice phone, so that's the reason I picked the DG550. For me it seemed to be a good choice and the design is very similar to the inew v3. (just bigger). I know it has been already out for some months, but the start price was too high for my taste, so I got it now because Doogee this month made a pricedrop on the DG550.
So I thought I will give you my version of a full review of the phone! So far I am very impressed with the phone and the stylish design. I especially like this model with the white frame because it makes the black screen look even nicer - and it stands more out than the all black version.

Memory & RAM
The phone comes 1GB RAM and 1,5GB internal, and 12,2GB storage.
It also supports micro sdcards up to 64GB.
For normal daily use this is fine, the phone runs very smooth. Only thing is that I could wish to have more than 1.5GB internal for apps, but I guess this can be hacked/changed with other EBR files.
Wifi & reception
The WiFi has a very good range, and it is really fast. Have used it a lot the last days and zero problems. The reception I would say is average and normal. Like on most MTK6592 phones.
Batterylife
The batterylife is very good on the DG550. I can use it over 1 day with normal usage.
It also support special power saving management (Power Saving, Lower Power Mode, Screen Saving Mode) so if you want to save the battery during the day, just activate this.
Antutu Benchmark 5
I get 28340 in score with 4.4 Kitkat

Cons & Pros
Good
- Clear and sharp screen, real OGS/IPS, when the screen is off it is totally black!
- Vivid screen and good viewing angles. The touch sensitivity is perfect!
- The sound from the earspeaker is in my DG550 pretty loud, I don't think it is low
- The build quality seems to be good, I have no crooked corners or something like that
- It is a bit heavy in the hand, but in the nice way, feels like quality
- Supports OTA, so you can update the phone
- Supports Power Saving management (different settings possible) and CPU power limiter
- Very fast and good GPS
- Good WiFi range with good speed
- Battery is good for 1-2 days with normal usage
- It is smooth and has stable software
- The compass works fine after you have calibrated the sensors
- Backlight in the softbuttons
Bad
- No notification LED
- Does not come with Kitkat 4.4 out of the box, but you can flash it yourself
- The backcover feels just like matt thin plastic
- Soundquality and reception is average, not bad but also not super good
- No NFC or wireless charging builtin
- Only 1GB ram, but it still runs very smooth
My verdict
The Doogee Dagger DG550 is a very stylish smartphone - especially in white. It is very cheap, and for the money you get a lot of smartphone. It is hard not to be impressed about the big sharp screen when you have it in the hand. It is smooth out of the box but of course even more with Kitkat 4.4 and has no software bugs. If you want a cheap phone and does not need things like NFC and wireless charging then the DG550 is a very good choice in my opinion. I personally give it 9/10 - I love the phone!
Very stylish simple design!

Hi s7yler,
I bought one too, but I have some issues. My phone stuck on boot and now after recovery with original rom I don't have IMEI and signal. I resolved the Imei problem but I don't have signal yet.
Other problem is some apps like Antutu do the phone restart.
Do you have a original backup and a backup made MTK Droid Tools. I sent message to Doogee support but I didn't receive answer.
Tks

Did you try 4.4 rom? Flash it with SP flash tool v5.1408.00
For imei problem you need SN Writer 2.1324.0 (google it)
Where do you live? Make sure that your carrier supports GSM 2G: 850/900/1800/1900 and 3G: WCDMA 850/2100MHz

Ok that sounds strange, are you sure it is not a hardware error? Did you buy it from new?
I would try this
1. Factory reset phone completly
2. Flash new ROM
3. Wipe all caches/dalvik/factory reset again
4. Check IMEI number and SIM card.
5. If still no signal, try change to 2G only or choose manually search for network instead of automatically
Are you sure you got the correct IMEI into the phone? and you dont need MTK engineering mode.
Just have the phone rooted, then start MTK droid tools, on the first screen (where all the info is) then hit the button IMEI/NVRAM (button is only avaiable if your rooted) and a new window will popup, here you can insert the IMEI number in both fields, and save it to the phone. After that restart phone and thats it.
Regarding Antutu, did you also try Antutu X? (Antutu 5) from the Play Store.
Original ROM (it is called 4.2.9) can be found on needrom.com - just search for DG550.

Did you try these sims on another phone.
Sometimes Mobile network itself deny registration of the sim in the network due to some issues.
This happens often when you use a super sim which is used to bypass sim lock.
It can easily be resolved by putting the sim on another phone and resister in the network manually.

Contact Doogee and check if you still have warranty and send it back, your phone is not normal. I have no issues at all with mine, works perfect, even the loudspeaker is clear and loud (something which has previously been criticized).
Maybe you have a fake version. Do you have the mark on the side of the box you can scratch? to verify that it is original Doogee product?

I don't know where you have read that. But in the Doogee Dagger DG550 treads I have been following people have had no problems with the screen. And actually the screen is really good, and the sensitivity is much better than on some other Chinese phones - I have never read about anyone having screen problems. So I don't agree with that, actually this phone is really good for the very low price. And Doogee also have supported it really good.

The DG550 screen is lovely. I did manage to get a small scrape on the screen just before my case arrived, but it is really great quality.
On the subject of phone signals, I have two SIMS in mine and can get a 3G signal with either of them. The only strange thing is that, with my Virgin SIM (my main account), t works perfectly except when I'm at home. When at home, the phone thinks that I'm roaming! (Roaming is off on my account). Yesterday I was out with a good H+ signal, got home and it switched back to roaming. I can force it to reconnect an all is well, but a bit later it thinks its roaming again! Can still use data, calls and SMS and they do not show up as roaming on my account!
No problem with my Sainsbury's SIM. This is my second Virgin SIM (the first got confused when it received my old number). Both have exhibited the same weirdness.

Some carriers use internal roaming to lower the costs, its kind of weird. But how it is. The roaming problem your talking about has probably nothing to do with the phone, but more your SIM / carrier / provider.
bugee kitkat
yesterday i upgraded my dg 550 to official kitkat and i discovered some serious bugs. First my dagger makes reboot when i plug it in for charging!! Second the charging is making too much, i plug it in 4 pm with 18% and 7 pm is 70% which is too long.
In the previous 4.2.9 the dagger was 100% in less than 2 hours!
This is for me a reason to get back to 4.2.9
Now the thing that i like is ,changing the ebr files , having 7 gb space for apps. So if i downgrade could i change also the ebr files in 4.2.9 , or it want be possible?
I also received this nice phone and I am very satisfied with it. It come with 4.4.2 android_4.4_2014/09/25, but it is not rooted. I try several diferent ways to rootit but no succes. Framaroot, RootGenius, Towelroot, Baiduroot, but nothing works. Is there any way to root it without changing original rom? I also want to install TWRP or CWM for latter work with flashing roms and to make backup . Any help, please!

Thank you for your quick answer. No luck with Iroot but I make it with Kingo root. Is too much if I ask how to install TWRP or CWM?

next week it will arrive, as soon as possible, review and hands on video!
Anyone interested in custom recovery creation, can have my support for testing purpose.
The first impact was not bad. Probably the performance are not the top with kitkat 4.4.4, battery seems ti be poor in terms of screen on time and capacity. Good news is that on the elephone forum is available original firmware, new custom rom flyme 4.2 and philz touch recovery.
Here's the link of philz Touch recovery

Anyone received the phone?
Yes, I'll post a review soonish .

Thanks for the reviews. I have seen on the Elephone P3000s 3GB page (http://www.elephone.hk/P3000S-6752.html) that there is no NFC included in first batch ( NFC: Support (The second batch os P3000s will pack NFC) / NFC:support(100,000 pieces of P3000s were sent out in April don't support NFC.)) . How the NFC supporting devices can be identified? Is it only a SW/driver issue or hardware topic? Thx and br
Nfc is an hardware topic, near micro sd slot on the rear, you must have two pins that connects to the rear cover with nfc antenna on it.
I have one of those non-NFC phones (don't care too much about NFC, and asked elephone.cc to send me one from the first batch to get it quicker).
My impressions after using it for almost two weeks:
Speed, smoothness is good, probably thanks to the CPU, GPU and 3GB Ram.
The main SIM card slot was too tight from the factory to insert a full size SIM card with perforated edges (so that I can pop out a micro sim size SIM) so the SIM card broke when I tried to force it into the slot.
I then got a new SIM card (thankfully I share offices with my mobile network provider...) and I first used a small tweezer to bend open the SIM card slot a bit while gently pushing in the SIM card.
That worked.
I'm not very impressed with the battery life, but maybe I'm asking for too much?
Today it's been running 10,5 hours on battery with normal use, it's now down to 6% battery level.
Maybe that's ok, I don't know.
The biggest problem is that I feel the wifi/bluetooth radio is unstable.
I got myself the new, very nice LG Urbane smartwatch 5 days ago, but it looses contact with the phone all the time so I don't get any notifications from the phone, and can't interact like placing calls etc.
I often also notice that even though the wifi icon in the top bar implies that it has almost a full wifi signal, the wifi connection is actually lost, and I have experienced several times that I'm not able to disconnect/reconnect but have to reboot the phone in order to get everything working again.
It would be good to hear from other owners, if they experience any of this or if I should first try a factory reset (I did that as soon as I received it though, as I always do when I buy a new phone/tablet), or an alternative ROM, before I start the possibly dreaded process of trying to get elephone.cc to send me a replacement.

I agree with your post grenness
I've had mine since it came out and purchased it from Gearbest, to replace my HTC One M7 that I couldn't relash properly.
I've only been usiing mine on Wifi with WhatsApp and gaming for the first few few weeks to get used to it.
The Wifi is weak, It cuts out quite a bit... which is real annoying when I use phone with Wifi at home.
I couldn't ge the SIM 1 Card to fit either so I just put it in the MicroSIM slot.
As for the battery I probably have too many Apps that use a lot of processing power, But I need to run it completely flat to see how long it will last.
Another thing I found is that if you do want NFC there is backcover available on Aliexpress(probably wrong spelling) that allows you to enable it. which I might get when I purchase a Glass Screen protector and Case.
Thought Id share my impressions on this phone.
First of all, I know Elephone.cc is not Elephone's oficial store as they pretend but do not order from them, seriously dont. They dont respond to support emails, Took them a week to send the phone and they sent just the phone, without the extra batery, glass screen protector and leather case, so thats $30 thrown away because they are reluctant to offer the refund for the parts they didnt send.
About the phone:
Smooth indeed, it moves nice, very nice, is fast but that is a given with the specs.
GSM reception is the worst, very very very bad, I get no signal at all in places I used to get full signal with my previous phone (a Lenovo S939)
The battery - Oh the battery, omg, I think that if I could put 2 2A batteries in it would last longer, very bad battery life, doesnt last 12 hours with mobile data one and very little use, If I use it like I used my previous phone (extremly moderate) I need to charge it every 5-6h, which is very inconvenient because Im not allways near a power source.
The fingerprint thingy, while it does work in just the right angle is useless, you have to slide my finger 10 times to scan once, I didnt even manage to set a fingerprint because it must scan it like 7 times.
The autorotate is crazy, allways goes to landscape even if you just tilt the phone a bit, and then you must turn it 4-5 times to go back to portrait, so you have to disable it otherwise you cant use the phone.
The phone is not usable while charging because the touchscreen goes nuts.
The camera ) .My very old Nokia n73 takes way better pictures that this, even my previous phone which has a lower res camera is waay better than this one (also Congrats on the false advertising for the camera - not sony and not 13mpx).
I dont think I just got a bad phone from factory, because I saw more people having issues like mine. And this is their top model at this moment with the p7000 not relesead yet.
I very much regret for purhasing this gadget (not phone cause it cant be used as one) so do yourself a favor and dont purchase any Elephone, I doubt they have any good models.
Don't agree, my sample had not the issues you wrote. Only battery is poor, but in this case i think that software support is not good, so it needs updates..
I thought Elephone would have had Lollipop available by now.
Is there anyway to boost the Wifi on the phone?
good morning, there are some news on a custom rom with lollipop?

You can try Root Genius or King Root. Greetings
---------- Post added at 05:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:54 PM ----------
Kingroot works. I've just try it.
hi. tnx for the reply and info.
glad you got Kingo to work. unfortunately, it wont for me. i had tried that along with iroot and root genius. i cant get anything to work. i only found out when quickboot failed and i then checked with root checker. i wonder why i cant get the phone to root again?
did you check with root checker to make sure, because kingoroot and iroot both told me i had root but root checker said i hadn't. assuming root checker is correct, i cant get root back and i cant use quickboot, which basically verifies no root achieved
Crap, I also had the OTA update earlier today and went ahead and installed it.
Bye, bye, root.
Oh well, anyone notice any improvements to the phone after the update?
On the crappy camera, take a look at this photo taken outside in partly overcast weather (which is supposed to be good for photographing), notice how the green colors are completely useless in the right part of the picture? And how unclear everything is?
I'm telling you, this camera sucks...
edit: sorry, image should now be visible
just had this mail from SuperElephone:
The new version of OTA has root function. That means if you update OTA, your phone will be rooted automatically.
unfortunately, that is not the case, as i found out and have mailed them back informing of the error. not sure what response, if any, i'll get from them now.
I read somewhere that you just have to install and update SuperSU after OTA and will be fine...I DO NOT KNOW THAT. I JUST READ ABOUT IT.
But..I would like to know about other issues on this phone...WiFi, data, battery etc.

First Hands-on
DotView Case Test
LEAGOO are soon going to release a new top model, called the Elite 1.
I have pre-ordered this phone, what I especially like about it is that it is a 5 inch phone which is more pocket friendly, and not a 5.5 like from many other brands. It features a fingerprint reader, CNC metal frame and have top specs like JDI Full HD screen, 3GB RAM, and MTK6753 Octa Core CPU.
LEAGOO ELITE 1 MTK6753 Octa Core 1.3GHz Android 5.1 Smartphone 3GB Ram 32GB Rom 5.0 Inch FHD IPS Screen 4G LTE
Will be available in Dazzling White, Midnight Black and Champagne Gold.
More info on http://www.leagoo.cc/mobile/elite_series/20150813/Elite1.html
According to the page it also has Sapphire glass! on the Fingerprint reader. And the screen has Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3. Looks to be the top 5 inch smartphone that I have been waiting for!
- MTK6753 Octa Core 1.3GHz
- 5.0 Inch 1920 * 1080 Pixel FHD IPS Screen
- 3GB Ram 32GB Rom

I think it is more than god, the design & materials are very attractive, it is the first of it's kind (5") that also features a front fingerprint reader and the hardware inside is very highend.
I only hope that the camera will be good and that the battery will last at least 1 day.
Then it could maybe be one of the best 5 inch china phones with fingerprint out....
Battery 2400 mAh will be the weak spot. Looking forward to your review!
Got mine today...
PROS
Cost (obviously)
Gorgeous phone absolutely stunning
Fingerprint ID, works really well and can unlock phone from standby without going via lockscreen
Great camera
Dedicated "smart button" / shutter button
Good display
Almost vanilla AOSP
CONS
Battery... just about bearable
No root as yet (which means you can't tweak battery with greenify etc)
Only one ringtone rather than a different one for each sim card
One sim slot is sim or MicroSD... I want dual sim AND MicroSD
If you've got any questions let me know
Very nice phone, good design.
At long last a good spec 5.0 inch screen model ordering one as we speak. :victory:
I just hope they didn't use the goodix touch panel so we can have a fully working touch recovery. :fingers-crossed:
Leagoo seem to have put a lot of effort into this phone so let's hope it pays off.
As said battery could be a problem for heavy users especially driving that nice high res screen
Here what the battery life looks like, for those that are interested.
I can see a custom recovery coming soon as there's an interesting feature in the Developers Options menu called "OEM Unlocking" which is described as Unlocking the bootloader. Excellent!

You can pretty much use any mt6732/52 custom recovery - by just switching the kernel. I can run you through if you want. I'd back up the stock recovery with SPFlash first regardless.

There's not root on the Elite 1 as yet... I would assume that I need root to do this? If not it would be great to find out as I can get a custom recovery and then merely flash the appropriate superuser zip. What do you think?

No need for root. Once you have unlocked the bootloader you can flash it with SPFlash or fastboot.

I have seen the "OEM Unlocking" in many of the newer China phones, I think it is a standard setting in Android 5.1. But the Chinese phones are usually not locked.

So which recovery would I use, does it have to be lollipop compatible? Any help would be appreciated as I really need flash root on this to run xposed if possible... and obviously I need a full backup before risking the inevitable bootloops. Thanks in advance.
I'm confused, this phone is supposed to have a MT6753 SoC (hopefully as MT6752 is a huge failure imho). Yet you speak about Elite 1 and MT6752 here. Are there different versions of Elite 1? Please clarify.

I have a couple of questions. I already know that they lie about the cameras, that it's 8/13 MP interpolated to 13/16 MP, but can you verify that the main camera really has an IMX214 sensor like I read somewhere? (check in MTK Engineer Mode)
They lie about the cameras. What else do they lie about? JDI screen, Gorilla Glass?
Can you confirm that the Elite 1 has a MT6753, not a MT6752 as the name of this thread suggests?
Were you able to unlock the boatloader and get root?

It is the MT 6753 as shown in the screenshot below. The rear camera is listed in Antutu as 16.3 mega pixel, and to be fair it is the best camera I've used (which kind of only makes it better than the Honor 6 and the Lenovo Vibe Shot).
The screen is incredibly vibrant, and I've had to use Lux Auto Brightness in order to tone it down (and it's still really bright). This has boosted the battery a lot.
In MTK Engineering Mode the camera is definitely NOT interpolated. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask any more questions.

Thanks! I'm happy it's a MT6753 even if the MT6752 is theoretically more powerful. Too many problems with all MT6752 devices I know of and I have/had several.
Can you check MTK Engineer, swipe to Others and check if there is a menu there for Device Info. Most MTK devices have that menu but some don't. If it's there you will be able to see what camera sensors there are. I think (and hope) it's a Exmor IMX214, which is one of the best 13 MP sensors on the market imo. I also believe that the front camera sensor is a 8 MP OV8858.
Did you get root access?
________EDIT________
Honor 6 have a IMX214 and you say the Elite 1 has a better camera, so it could be true that it has a 16 MP Exmor then. On the other hand the photo quality depends on software and the post sensor processing in the SoC also.

I've tried the Engineer mode as well as 3 hardware info apps. None of them give the sensor name, but they all give the same information, that the back camera is 16.3 megapixel with continuous auto focus. What you say about the Honor 6 sounds right as the two are almost exact with the minor differences being colour saturation and very fine detail... the differences are noticeable, but so small, they could be down to post sensor processing. If there's decent light tomorrow I will take a photo with each as a comparison for you.

Thanks for info. No hardware info app would be able to extract the info about what sensor it is and would also not be able to tell the real resolution if it's interpolated. If you have root access you can change the build prop (/device/system/build.prop) from user to eng (engineer) and get some more info in MTK Engineer (ro.build.type=user --> ro.buildtype=eng). If you don't have any major complaints on the phone I will probably buy one to play with. I have no MT6753 device yet and the Elite 1 seems like a good candidate to become the first.

Jiayu S3+ review new model MT6753

Greetings to everyone. This is one of my first reviews here. I hope this can make you have a better idea of what to expect of my new phone which I received recently from China (Jiayu S3+).

The Jiayu S3+ is a 5.5" phone. It has Mediatek MT6753 1.3 Ghz (8 cores) and GPU of 3 cores.
it comes with Android Lollipop 5.1, has 3 Gb of RAM, NFC, internal FM radio chipset (doesn't require internet connection), 16 Gb ROM of internal memory, upgradable up to 64 Gb using MicroSD memory card.
Multilanguage ROM include lots of languages, Google Play and its services works flawlessly.
Backcover detail
Screen
The screen have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, IPS display. Is fast and precise to the touch. Its pixel density is 401 ppp. Brightness is quite notorial and its visibility indoors is very good and quite good outdoors.
GPU is powerful enough in order to run all the games of Google Play nowadays without a hitch even at the high resolution the mobile has to bear. I test Need for Speed, Andry Birds 2...everything runs smoothly.
Here can apreciate the lower zone where capacitive buttons are placed. As you can see the buttons glow once touched.
It is important to notice that the S3+ have coloured led notification on the front.
Sound
Sound is very powerful, with no distorsion whatsoever although maybe more bass deepness would be apreciated. To listen music long time maybe better a bluetooth speaker would be more pleasent but when listening radio stations or voice conversations during phonecalls its loudness is very crisp and clear .
Here you can see the backcover with Jiayu logo printed on it which gives an elegant touch to the phone. Also can see the speaker mesh.
Here a close detail of the side volume and power buttons.
Connectivity
It supports 4G and 3G. Is a very suitable model specially in countries which supports these bands:
3G (900 / 1900 / 2100 mhz)
4G (1800 (b3) / 2600 (b7) / 800 mhz (b20)
2G (850 / 900 /1800 /1900)
Supports also NFC which lets you pay without having to use a credit card. Lots of banks are offering this new technology. As you can see the NFC chip is inside the backcover.
The phone can be handled quite well with one hand although requieres practice and using it with both hands would be recommended.
Although being a 5.5" phone the S3+ fits fine in any trousers pocket. The feeling one have is like having a 5 " mobile phone.
Its thickness is not indue as can be seen here
The Jiayu S3+ supports microsim cards. Insertion is very easy .
The battery consumption should be improved. Perhaps due to a ROM optimization issue the consumption is not very optimized . Good point though is that the S3+ have an MT6753 processor with somewhat reduced frequency (1.3 GHz) compared to the MT6752 (that is 1.7 GHz). With an optimized ROM surely the margin of optimization will be improved so that battery consumption can easily be improved regardless the S3 Advanced (MT6752)
A plus to consider regarding the battery is that it is removable. This is very imporant because if the battery fails only will be necessary to change it for another one and sending it back to China for repair will not be necessary.
Here you can see the location of the two speakers just below the battery.
Battery consumption is greatly reduced by selecting automatic brightness but we all know that the phone is more enjoyable with a brightness of 100% sound at max , etc ... so I consider essential to have another extra battery if it is intended for intensive multimedia use.
If instead you plan to use it basically as a normal phone ( receive calls, not using much the speaker) then it's probably the battery can last about few days perfectly.
Camera
The camera is a Sony IMX214 with an excellent response, it has autofocus. 13 Mp in the back and 5MP front with dual led flash.
In short:
Pluses (+)
-quality of the screen. Looks luxurious, it is a LG panel, have great quality and has a noticeable and accurate response
-3 GB of RAM
-Great CPU and powerful GPU. It is an eight-core and the 3 core GPU moves almost any game in Google Play very well.
-The sound is very powerful thanks to its stereo speakers. The clarity and sharpness of the sound is very clear specially listening to radio, incoming calls through the speaker ...)
-Supports NFC
-Keeps the Gyroscope and electronic compass of the S3
-Supports OTG
-The Dual microphone noise reduction (reduces noisy background sounds to improve the clarity of voice calls)
-LED -double flash
- It supports dual sim and memory expansion via microSD up to 64 Gb to add to the 16GB of internal ROM.
- Removable battery !
- Multi-colored led notification
- Internal FM-radio!
- Have maybe the better price / performance ratio of the market right now.
Minuses (-)
None highlight in particular. It is a phone that has everything, too much complete as a whole and great price to reproach something ...

Hi,
I owned the Jiayu S3 advanced and was very happy with it; I unfortunately lost it and therefore ordered and received this Jiayu S3+. All in all, they are very comparable; big problem however: this new phone (MT 6753 based) comes with Lollipop and...after intensive research on the net, I have failed to find a simple way to root it, whereas the S3 advanced (MT 6752, Kitkat) could be easily rooted through a simple switch in "Settings/Safety". I am therfore stuck with an unrooted phone, which is a major problem for me. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

All in all, they are very comparable; big problem however: this new phone (MT 6753 based) comes with Lollipop and...after intensive research on the net, I have failed to find a simple way to root it, whereas the S3 advanced (MT 6752, Kitkat) could be easily rooted through a simple switch in "Settings/Safety". I am therfore stuck with an unrooted phone, which is a major problem for me. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I guess you can SPflash a S3+ TWRP from needrom and install e.g. SuperSU zip from TWRP. I have no S3+ to confirm.
Hi Dior DNA,
Thanks for your suggestion.
Being however nothing but an old geek, I am perfectly unable to understand save apply things like SPflash or TWRP; this, given my comptetence, would most probably end up with a bricked phone.
I was rather hoping to find a simple step by step solution to root he phone; I read however here and there that using "one click" programs such as Kingroot, Kingoroot, Framaroot, Iroot and other Towelroot not only failed to root Lollipop but was also likely to inject in the phone chinese bloatware if not viruses.
Why did they suppress the simple "Enable Super Su" button between Kitkat and Lollipop?

I agree that a lot of standard flashing practice may sound scary. However, it's just what it is. I personally find magic rooting solutions much more scary. One can find SPflash tool instructions on most needrom S3 or S3+ firmware pages. The instructions are highly device independent and specific to MTK. As for TWRP, once open, it kind of speaks for itself.
Most phones do not come pre-rooted, the S3 was a welcome exception.
Again, the global steps would be
- find TWRP image on needrom and flash it using SPflash tool (use Download and untick all but recovery)
- boot into TWRP (on my S3 I can do so by Vol+Pwr at same time, and then selecting recovery with Vol) and flash SuperSU ZIP
(which you will have to put ready on SD first)
* (re)boot may restore stock recovery. To prevent this one needs to get rid of recovery_from_boot.p
Good luck and courage
PS: it is hard to brick an S3(+) but one does need working SPflash tool and working firmware to restore to.
Thanks Dior DNA.
I shall try to apply your solution; before that however, I think that I will just in case wait until another Jiayu S3+ user has confirmed that he has successfully rooted the phone.
Thanks again
Regards
Phil
Hello I recently bought my first jiayu mobile phone.
Is the s3+ 3/16.
The specs are nice (I wish for a bigger battery) but I have problem with many applications especially from Banks and paypal.
I have the latest ota 17-12-2015 and when I go to google play I can not install the apps.
A message appear "your device is not compatible with this version".
I have made Hard reset but the problem is the same.
Another problem is I can not find the "easy root" option and the option to cryptographic the phone.
As I understand the "easy root" the bangood advertising is not in this version of s3.
Even more after installing many apps I tried to put it in folders but the folders looks empty.
If I push inside the folder in a white area a app starts .
the folders looks ok when is closed but when I open one looks empty, a big white empty area.
Can you please tell me what to do.
Thank you

Design and build
THL has definitely made a good looking smartphone with classic rectangular appearance and curved edges.
The body features a well crafted magnesium alloy frame and a hard plastic back.
When the device is off its front looks like being bezelless, but that's not the case. Indeed, the bezels are extremely thin, with the top edge of frame protruding slightly above the surface of the display in order to protect it.
Yes, this is a necessary design step for screen protection as with the THL T7, you don't get the 2.5D curved glass edges that seem to be on every Chinese smartphone lately.
In addition, the display has a top protective layer, which does not reach completely the frame.
The distance between the two is very little - fingernail-like, but it is there.
Otherwise, the device looks solidly built. Neither the back, nor the display flex under pressure. All parts fit perfectly to one another. The back cover is non-removable.
The smartphone is reasonably thin, with a waistline of 9.1 mm, and not heavy at all - 202 grams with the battery.
Because of its relatively large size it actually looks thinner than it is. The device is 150.5 mm high and 77.5 mm wide.
It is comfortable enough for one-handed operation, but people with smaller hands still might find it big to use with one hand.
The model is available in two colors: black and white with a silver back. We are reviewing the white variant.
Controls
The first thing you'd notice about the THL T7 controls layout is that the volume rocker and the power button are placed on the left hand side.
We do find this very convenient, but it's a matter of personal preference and subjective feeling, so we're just paying attention to this fact in case you prefer the classic layout with both on the right hand side.
In this model on the right is the hybrid dual-SIM card tray. It may be used with one or two micro-SIM cards or with a micro-SIM and a microSD card.
On the top side of the device is placed the 3.5 mm jack and at the bottom - the micro USB port and the mic.
On the front above the display there are the LED notification light, the earpiece, the light sensor, and the selfie camera. The LED notification light works only when the battery is charging and has a red color.
The home, back, and menu buttons of the navigation menu are on-screen.
Again, once you get used to it, this turns out to be quite a convenient feature. On the back of the device from top to bottom are the rear camera, LED flash, fingerprint sensor, the THL logo and the speaker grill with a single speaker inside.

I just broke the screen on my THL 5000 and saw this phone at the THL.com store. I actually considered this phone for a moment, but the specs are just too much of a step back from the 5K, and I need the dual SIM functionality, not just 2SIM or 1SIM/1SD setup.
I ordered a screen for the 5K.
And there is the big issue of Lollipop and the SD card not mounting apps.......
No lead on a ROM update to Marshmallow for the phone, which would be best, or a rollback to KK as an option.
I have filled the 64GB SD card on my my phone, mainly music, some video's, not many, 32GB for the T7 is just too small to cram all my stuff in.
MM does not have the SD card issue, it just optionally mounts differently than LP.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow ... "When a user inserts a microSD card into the right slot for the first time, the system will ask if they want to use it as a portable storage or internal storage.
Users who choose portable storage will be able to use their microSD card as expected. They can save photos, videos, music, files and some apps and app data on the card. If they would like to take it out of their phone and connect it to another device, such as their laptop, they will still be able to micro-manage their files.
However, choosing internal storage will bake the microSD card straight into the system. Android Marshmallow will reformat and encrypt the card, which means users will first have to back up their saved files before going this route. Once the card is reformatted, all previously saved files are erased and the card becomes the phone's internal storage option and nothing else.
Users who want to insert their card into a computer will not be able to do so because it has been merged into the phone's internal storage. Under the Storage & USB section, the microSD card will disappear, as it has now become the primary internal storage of the phone. Users will still be able to save apps and app data and view how much storage is left on the built-in storage, but not photos, videos, music and files. That means, if a phone has 8 GB of internal storage and the microSD card is 32 GB, users only have 32 GB of space for their files, not 40 GB.
Also, built-in eMMC storage is almost always faster than microSD cards, which means users who have at least 32 GB of internal storage may not want to trade in speed for more space, especially if they don't use up all the space on their phones anyway. Still, even with all the caveats, the option to turn an external card into internal storage is definitely beneficial for people who have low storage phones."

The only thing holding me back from purchasing this is the OS. It needs to be updated to Android Marshmallow 6.0+

SD card capability
Spec's list up to 32GB for the SD Card on the THL home site, have you tried a 64GB SD Card?
Please report back as to the phones ability to read a 64GB SD Card.
There is an update issued by THL: http://en.thl.com.cn/SupportDetails.aspx?id=485 What dos this do with the OS?
As I posted above, the Lollipop OS is holding me back from a purchase, if they update to Marshmallow, then I will pull the plug and do a purchase.
I have 107 apps installed over the OS apps, and most are on the SD card in my phone (Kitkat 4.4.2) and need the larger partition or the ability to write apps to the SD.
TY.

Let me give you some help bro, there is a rapid and special method to fix the IMEI number:
Run the App "Phone", on the dialing keypad,
type 【*#IMEI#6666#】 for writing the first IMEI,
type 【*#IMEI#7777#】 for writing the second IMEI.
For example, type *#123451234512345#6666# for writing "123451234512345" to be used as the first IMEI.
Note that the new IMEIs will take effect after rebooting the phone and it will be lost after doing “Factory data reset”.

Its possible that the TWRP 3.0.2-0 might work, its pretty much universal for MTK. I guess I will find out when my phone arrives.

No, I'm not expect him to purchase the other phones to provide me for a comparison.
But, if you take a look more on his youtube video channel ,
