Where is the actual dev for the LG-v700? - G Pad 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm sorry to any of the admins for posting this if it is in the incorrect section, but I find this devices forum very confusing. The only thread that is related to this actual device (the LG G-Pad 10.1) is the TWRP recovery one. I managed to root this device and install recovery, but NONE of the ROMs listed here - or original development section - are actually compatible! THESE ARE ALL FOR THE V400 AND V410 7 INCH TABLET, NOT THE 10.1! Should they all be labeled as mis-categorized?
Am I wrong about this? Is there actually someone who developed a ROM for the LG-V700 model?

I agree: this forum is confusing me too.
Inside the G Pad 10.1 (V700) section I continue to find ROMs for other LG devices.
Is it normal?
Are devices compatible at ROM level?
Thanks for your answers and time.

No answer and no info
Also same question here... where are the roms for the V700 model or in any case where is the info about compatibility between models ???
Can anyone clarify this ??
Thanks a lot.

in the same boat, any info about how to root on lollipop would be great. I just want root, not custom recovery. ive tried a few different lg tools, one-click and script for 'all' lg's but none have worked so far. how did you root your lg v700 10.1 and what software were/are you running. thanks

You need rootjunky files for lg g4 and there in no kernel or rom for vk700

Custom Roms for more models

First of all sorry for posting thread here in dev sector, but here audience is bigger.
I want to ask devs. Why do you make model-specific mods? Eg AndroidNow supports only D855 and the CM vs LiquidSmooth too.. And many other roms....
What about "korean" series F400SKL or others? It is possible to make multi-variants via AROMA as it did Cloudy.
So answer to me - Is it so hard for developers to bring their ROMS for more people?
P.S. As i know, the difference in models is only in kernel and modem, so why not?
I think once the bump tool is released today, this won't be a big problem.
Because people cant follow simple instructions!

I read the post and don't understand this completely. Does it say that you can use every LG G3 rom on every G3 model?
I believe as long as the kernel matches your device, you should be fine. You might run into problems flashing a Verizon ROM on an AT&T phone though with service and stuff though.
Okay despite you saying that you know that this post was not supposed to be in here doesn't excuse it from being in this sub-forum. Q&A would've been much better since you're asking a question and believe me when the amount of audience in here is just as same in there.

Ok, lets take G3 Android Development section.
S3V3N is a developer of AndroidNow. This ROM is stock-based, and it has awesome features, but the only model it support is D855, so it can't be installed on F400SKL or other model with different kernels and basebands. My question is - Why it support only one model? Why cant developer add AROMA and push there more kernels for more variants of G3 as it did Cloudyfa in his CloudyG3?
And there more ROMS with support of only D855 (which is G3 modification for Europe) For Example CM and LiquidSmooth
As for me, i have bought G3 when in day it was released, and that model is F400S. I think there many people who like custom ROMs but the are not able to try CM on our device because of no support

I think its because pepole without a contract are most likely to buy the D855 variant...
you cant expect a developer to maintain a rom for every variant out there, you can however learn and explore how to get it working for your variant and build it from source.

What contract are you talking about? I bought F400S in Russian LG official retailer. It was unlocked from factory. The box was sealed.
Yeap i can learn how, but i wont to become dev again, and most of people with G3 dont want to develop roms, they want to use CM or others..
I have no idea how @Cloudyfa did his patch to make his ROM work for all variants. He also helped the MIUI dev get that working on all the variants as well. Also this Bump thing is all new to me too. I'm not sure how it all works.
I have the D850 and I flashed AndroidNow when it first came out. It worked fine on my device minus a problem with in-call audio which was not a kernel problem. I believe it was a RIL problem, but whatever the problem was, Cloudyfa made that patch in his ROM to work on all variants.
I'm no dev but I've been around and maybe someday would like to get into ROM developing. I had fun theming the Galaxy SIII back in the day.

It is not a patch. He made AROMA zip with switchable models. choosing a model will install specify kernel, modify build.prop and add some files into /lib /etc (they configure gps region, bluetooth country settings, lte gsm and wcdma bands)

I didnt say you got it under contract, I meant that the most common variant is D855 and that's why chances are that if you're a Dev you got that variant(unless you're from the US and got it under contract from one of the carriers) ... Plus, you say most people don't want to develop for the G3 but you expect development to pick up for all variants, if you gonna demand something to fit your needs you better be ready to assist.
Sent from my caseless LG G3, because I believe in myself
It's simple. You usually develop ROMs for the device that you have. Easier to debug issues for a device that you have rather than ask someone else to do so.
If you're frustrated by the lack of development for your device, PM a dev that develops ROMs for D855, ask him politely if it's possible for him to do so for your variant, and offer to maintain & debug the issues with your device. Sorry to say this but the way you're asking here in this thread comes across as rude and demanding.

F400 is the first variant of G3. It was released 2 months earlier than D855.( or mb 1 month idk) so why European version received CM and other thing earlier? I cant imagine that there are no devs who bought G3 at start, i mean F400

Just search in CM AndroidNow and other for hotword "F400" and u will see that users asked for it long time ago
Asking for it does not entitle you to get it. That is not how XDA works. The devs do what they do for free, for the community, in their free time or as a hobby. It should not turn into something that they *have* to do or be difficult to maintain.
Like I said, PM a dev asking for pointers on how to port stuff for your variant or ask them if they can do so, offer help. Don't post a thread demanding & questioning them.

Stock kernels do not need bump, cloudy uses stock kernels.
If anything the devs do enough by just making the ROM
It'd be cool for someone to make a porting guide. Or even better a stock installer script or an aroma installer that automatically detects the model and flashes the appropriate kernel etc. I'd take on the challenge but I'm not too confident in my skills on this stuff. First step would be diff the stock roms and compare the changes

Okay so if I may ask you. I have a Tmo G3 which is unlocked. I'm running Cloudyfa rom. I have at&t service. In his aroma installer there's an option for both at&t and Tmo. I chose Tmo and can't seem to get the LTE icons to show. Would I be able to flash the at&t option instead in order to get the LTE icon and not damage the phone? Sorry for the long drawn out question.
Thanks for you help.

LG G3 D852 Lollipop Root Android 5.0

Does anyone know of a way to root the LG G3 D852 running Android 5.0 Lollipop after the OTA update that recently came out?
I already tried using the CM12 nightly rom that runs Lollipop but it loses some much features from the LG G3 such as double tap to wake and I dislike the style of CM12 a lot.
Any help at all? I don’t want to use Cyanogen Mod at all.

This method only works with Kitkat. So far there is no method to root Lollipop. You will have to downgrade to kitkat then root again and follow this thread written by autoprime http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/psa-stop-taking-ota-updates-update-t2909412

Someone will have to make a stock flashable zip including root. This is something I'm attempting, but having very little success in doing due to the bumping of the kernel.
Hopefully someone will be able to figure this out -- I'll gladly donate to anybody that can root the LG G3 D852 with the Lollipop update. I am already missing Cloudy5 but decided to try out the update. I am very disappointed -- Rogers / LG seriously crippled Lollipop and many of the best features are gone. Even the lock screen notifications suck compared to AOSP ROMs. Eager to go back, may need to go back to KitKat, root again, then re-install Cloudy5.

I don't know enough about it but am trying to learn as well, unfortunately i'm only a geek and not a techy geek. What I was hoping to do was flash back to KK then root/custom recovery and then flash system.img using the LG flashtool, so that I could have official Lollipop only rooted.
I was trying to follow this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4s6wrpD2Gk, but it's not enough for me to go on, perhaps it can help put someone else in the right direction.
I've got the kzd file for if anyone needs it.
It looks like Lollipop rooting has begun

Hi @cytherean,
Thanks for the mention.
I am going to work on uploading a YouTube video tutorial for the steps that I did so that owners of other LG G3 variants may try if it works for them.
I would say though, to try @autoprime's method first because that's exactly what I did. I merely added a minor/extra "manual" step to his procedure which is to "bump" the Lollipop boot.img of the D858HK (as the online "bumping" service is already taken down - I was too late in the game, unfortunately).
Stay tuned!
PS: would you guys recommend for me to create a thread solely for this? If yes, I'd probably name it with "D858HK" and then others can post and report their findings, so that I can update the thread title. Or do you suggest I just keep it under @autoprime's thread (or the D858HK thread)?
The only reason I am thinking of creating a thread is to increase visibility into the procedure. Rest assured that I always give credit to all the things I have learned through reading and discovering the process.
UPDATE: I decided to create a thread. At this point, I have tested and re-tested the procedure; it works for the D858HK (100% success rate). http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-update-to-lollipop-root-bumpd-twrp-t3048845
Inviting owners of other LG G3 variants to try too, and let me know if it works.

Your best option is probably to use the LG flashtool 2014 and flash the old 4.2.2. KDZ
Then your'e back on the old 100% stock LG rom .
Root with towelroot and install TWRP (latest TWRP does not seem to work with flashify, use terminal commands instead)
After that you can use TWRP to flash the lollipop V50030a zip, and that way you keep both root and custom recovery.
Hi, and first of all many thanks for this rom !
However, like in 4.4 Kitkat, I still have the SD card unmounted issue sometimes, and gamma is only at 1.8. What can I do about these problems ? Do I have to flash something in particular ?
For information, my tablet had this rom installed before : http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/development/rom-android-5-0-lollipop-lrx21m-t2941207/page7
And I made a full clean before installing the new rom...did I missed something ?
camera
The camera-problem is fixed. Finally !!
Camera does not work on other android 5. Only on this it works
Yes !! thank you very much for all the work.
Thank you very much for this rom, but I have a question pus install updates lg to be modified recovey TWRP 2.8.6.0
screen brightness
Anyone noticed that screen is very bright even on 0% ? (too bright for me) or maybe i did something wrong ?
Few questions
Hello and thanks for working on our device. I have few questions. Are there any screen shots? Should I expect any random reboot or it is really and completely stock!? Are there anything good left out? For instance the good automatic brightness or the knocking ability to turn screen on or off.
Others who installed this rom also feel free to answer please. I appreciate it
It's complete. The whole LG crap is there. It's what you get when you get the official update. I had no reboot in the 5 hours before I went back to aosp.
hey guys...
how run this relase? there are any bugs?
Hi, thx for your work! The rom is running really great.
Any plan to include mod multiwindow for all apps?
I have notice that in quick remote we have lost a lot of type of device. Is it possible to port an other quick remote more complete?
How it compares to aosp ROM? Faster? Some unique featues? Besides lg crap?

Update to 30A from stock
Hello
Using a stock unrooted unmodified version of kitkat on my gpad and have few questions:
I've noticed the lollipop rom comes to around 1.1 gb. Will the OTA too be of the same size?
I've seen instructions that this rom can be dirty flashed over the stock rom. Does this mean I download and save the new rom locally in the tab, go to stock recovery and flash the new rom directly from recovery? Just like that?
Oh and has anyone got the OTA at all?
Edit: anyone using international version of the g pad...
Thanks
After 2 weeks using this ROM, I uninstalled it because gamma was too low and videos were quite sluggish. That's too bad because battery management is far better than CM 11.2 based ROMs (especially while tablet is not in use), and LG's interface is interesting...but it's not designed for everyday use. At least not yet.
Error Loki-fying
I get this error while flashing this rom via CWM --> Error loki-fying boot image, what am i doing wrong?

Hello Skin1980. I respect your work works very well for me. I need your help and understanding. You can do the same for LG GPAD 8.0 v490 V49020a_00? I can not install this device and root. Please help me.
Hi I have a weird issue, my wifi disconnects constantly every time the tablet is on deep sleep mode or downloading something. It's annoying especially for downloads. I already checked my wifi settings and they are set at "Always on" but still. Anybody else have this issues? BTW I dirty flash it over 4.4.2 maybe with a clean flash it get fixed

[Q] Step by step guide for stock Lollipop on G3?

Hi,
Absolute complete newbie here when it comes to any type of fiddling with Android. I have no idea where to start.
I used to have a Nexus 5, I loved the stock experience. I now have an LG G3 D855. LG's version of Lillipop is fine but it's no where near as good as stock.
I know the G3 can have stock lollipop put on it but I have no idea where to start. Is there a step by step guide somewhere I can use or would someone on here have the time to write one up for me? (A lot to ask, I know so I won't be offended if you say no!)
I'm not a total newbie in regards to tech. I've build PCs and all that. I've just no idea where to start with android or how to change my phone.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Agood place to start would be here :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2772658
Moving to Stock LP
easiest way to get to LP is by getting your current firmware from here: http://lg-firmware-rom.com/
then upgrade to that kdz from with lg flash tool 2014, from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2797190
also need LG Mobile Support tool: http://www.lg.com/au/support-mobile/lg-G3-D855-Metallic-Black
Root & Custom Recovery
root with this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g...lipop-t3056951
then install twrp with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/apk-flash-twrp-autorec-thanks-to-t3081396
keep up to date of LP updates with http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/stock-t2961073
i also think you have your terminologies confused; what you call 'stock' i think you mean the google nexus software or 'google edition'. 'stock' in fact refers to the firmware that LG pushes out. the other option would be 'custom', which is where you install software not made or endorsed by the phone's vendor, such as Cyanogem Mod. to install these 'custom' roms, you'll need to be rooted & have a custom recovery (twrp) installed to flash said 'custom' roms.
for me, i have stock LP and use tweaksbox, which customizes many aspects of the software. if you're interested, i can run you through on how to get it, because there are a few things you need to do.

LG Quick Remote APK for Optimus G Pro custom Lollipop 5.0.2?

Could someone please clearly explain how to install LG Quick Remote or any other stock app for that matter on a custom ROM running Lollipop.
I've browsed so many forums and people say different things and there's no coherency.
Please let us know how you did it, only if you have actually done it. Most LGQRemote.zip files don't work when flashed from recovery.

I read through pages 6, 7, and 8 and you mention that "Nope, Sorry to say this will probably have to wait until LG puts out a Lolipop rom for the G Pro.".
So, your answer is there is no APK for Lollipop on G Pro yet? Or does the previous APK on Page 7 work?

Yep, there's currently no compatible version for lollipop...we'd have to wait for an official update
I downloaded the QRemote-E980 files (QuickSet.apk, QuicksetSDK.apk, and QRemote.apk) and placed them under the /system/app folder with the right permissions.
Even though the app opens (after reboot), it contains no manufacturer information under any menu like TV, Air-Con etc. In other words, it's utterly useless.
To all the experts here, is there any other way to use my IR sensor on Lollipop, other than get Quick Remote?!
EDIT: Sorry above poster, when I posted this message, I hadn't read your reply. Thanks for confirming.
