Need some advice - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

So I bought a samsung galaxy s4 (sgh-m919) it came loaded with 4.3. I made a backup and loaded cm12.1, which ran smooth and was a really nice interface, but the call quality (people complain their voice echoes back in their ears) was crap. Not sure what's doing it, but I am on the M919UVUEMK2. Tried using cm 11 rom, but it made no difference in call quality and LTE seems all over the place now.
So my dilemma is do I unroot and redo my back up (with knox and all the samsung bloat installed) and then upgrade the baseband using OTA and stay on 4.4.4? Or do I try to flash my baseband manually?
Has anyone else noticed call issues with 5.1.1? I'd would like to use again, but I need the phone portion to work normally too...
Thank you!

Here's the firmware but the download for non members is painfully slow - allow a couple hours. Use the fnk2:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-M919/
Get Odin and follow the instructions here - the Odin 3.07 will work just fine. It also has instructions for getting into download mode [note that you must let go of the three buttons as soon as you see the warning screen and quickly tap the volume up button]:
http://androidcentral.us/2014/02/how-to-flash-firmware-using-odin-samsung-devices/
After getting the stock 4.4.4 on your phone you can root using cf-autoroot, Add twrp and supersu etc.
I personally prefer 4.4.4 KitKat to the Lollipop. There are some good custom ROM's on this site.
Jim

Thanks, Jim! Download speed reminds me of being on dial-up... ah, those were the days...

While I respect OtisDog's posts for the most part, I am running an M919 with 4.4.4 and CF-AutoRoot. I have used both the Metro and T-Mobile firmwraes and they both root fine.

Did you ever have any weird phone issues with the mk2 baseband? Everyone that calls says it's kind of echoey and crackles. My phone doesn't sound weird to me though. It's a tiny bit better if I drop down to the lowest gsm setting, but not much.

4.4.4 for T-Mobile uses NK2 modem. The Metro uses NK3. NEVER had an issue with either.

I left the baseband on the version it came with which was mk2. I did actually upgrade to stock 4.4.4 and while it didn't immediately solve my call issues, finally found this little feature called 'personalized call sound' that did. So i'm on stock now and it seems fine. Just need to root and get rid of the bloatware now. I've been trying to get a handle on if this feature was removed in lollipop, and I think i've seen some people saying that, so I might just stay on this for now.

AT&T has taken down the stock 4.1 UCDLK3

For no valid reasons AT&T Galaxy S3 stock ROM I747UCDLK3 has been nowhere to be found for download.
Both links from Sammobile and Samsung-updates only says "This file is either removed due to copyright claim or is deleted by the uploader"
There must be something fishy goin on right here, they don't even released the full stock of recent UCDMG2 update. This is the first time I heard somebody filed copyright infringement of those stock firmware? Why the heck it's only the UCDLK3 and not all other older stock versions like LEM and LG1. So watch out AT&T subscribers!
Its still up in the development forum if needed.
It can still be flashed from the official KIES software.

I think it's more because of the boot loader update... Just to avoid idiots bricking their phones flashing software with odin. It was removed for avoidance of disaster...

But why take down the stock firmware? I just needed it to fix auro rotation in one of my kids s3. I found it with help from an op anyway and it did the trick. I just remember 4.1.1 and earlier were simple to unlock. 4.1.2 done away with that method. 4.1.2 is still available for download also. I elieve 4.0.4 is too though, so my theory has some holes in it if it is. Whats tough is finding US stock firmware for sgh-i497. I flashed umama1 or umama2 and lost my wifi for a day. Found 1 rom finally and fixed it with 4.0.4. Need to find or make a JB rom for it after it gets repaired y Samsung. LCD went bad Gotta update N S3 to kk soon also... I never like flashing a new bootloader and knox bugs me 8n the new version.

You were right about the bootloader, but wrong with the reason. Its identical to the S4 bootloader aside from the S4 having a critical value of '1' in this code somewhere... Thing us though, that the LK3 bootloader could remain intact and signed, therefore flashed and accepted by the S4 as an update... That us IF it turns out to be truly identical lol. I got a lotta code to read over. Caffeine time.

I am VERY new to all of this. I had a Windows 640, which I hated. And got this S3, I love everything except the os. (Previous device Sprint S4 w/lollipop). Anyway, I have the 4.1.1 os. Its rooted to Metro (was AT&T). But I want to upgrade the os to slimkat 9.0. I just don't have a clue what I need or how to do it. And can it be done w/o pc? As a note (included r screenshots). I have supersu, it has a feature to "full root", do I want to mess with that? If so, what are the benefits. I don't want to brick this and want to learn how. Maybe someday try to unlock sim on Sprint S4 ( has knox)!
Anyone who can help with the right info will be greatly appreciated!

Before doing anything else, I would recommend doing the free sim (carrier) unlock while you are still on 4.1.1. This will give you more options in the future. The method can be found in these forums.
If you were on AT&T I would say there is a chance you could take OTA updates to get to a bootloader that would work with SlimKat 9.0. I don't imagine you can do this.
Just noticed you have TWRP. Which version do you have? you will need a fairly new version to flash SlimKat 9.0 and a newer bootloader and modem, check HERE for both .tar and .img files.
You will probably be able to run slimKat from the MJB bootloader and modem (from the 4.3 rom). You could even do so with the MJ2 bootloader and modem, but you would need a custom kernel such as ktoonsez to do so. If MJB does not work well for you NE4 definitely would, it is from the 4.4.2 release.
Thank you for your response. After posting, I did a root check and found that the phone had only been partially rooted. I downloaded the apk root master. From there I had already downloaded the slimkat 7.0, I was mildly impressed, and now desperate as this is my only working device. Plus, I was terrified I was about to brick it. Anyway, I found LiquidSmooth KitKat os. 4.4.4, downloaded it plus gapps. Everything seems great! Still don't get the connectivity Metro shows for my area, but no bad. But I do have an issue with the front camera. When you take a pic, the phone reboots. The gapps came with Google camera. Tried the camera 360...exact same issue. Not that big a deal. I know have far more flexibility with my service provider in the settings.
So, thanks again for the info. I still have a SCH-720T I wanna do a sim unlock. Between Sprint,Knox and lollipop. Everything I've read says I've got my work cut out !

I am beginning to have some problems with liquid smooth. I would still like the slimkat 9.0. I have twrp v 2.8.0.1, and recently downloaded the tar and img. Are you having phone connectivity issues or data connectivity issues? If it is phone connection you may need a newer modem.
Before changing modems, have you checked that your APN settings are correct? You may need to verify this with Metro.
Since you said you tried to install the MJB modem but received an error, I guess we need to try to eliminate that problem. Did you try to install only the modem or both modem and bootloader? I would recommend installing the MJB baseband (=Modem) and bootloader together. Once you get past MJB version you must keep the bootloader and baseband matched, so we may as well start that practice now. Is it possible you had a bad download of MJB? Re-downloading may solve the problem.
Do not skip MJB and go to NE4 or NJ1, both newer versions of the modem and bootloader. All I have read indicates that you should update in order without skipping or risk bricking the device.
Your version of TWRP is recent enough that it should work with the files you need. (TWRP is now up to 2.8.7.0 for the d2att.)
I have data issues. I've located 2 sources to download the modem/bootloader you mentioned. The first is out of Quebec and has a bad signature. My device also skips md5 , not sure about the issue there. And the other source has too much red tape before I can get to the down load. I have the correct network settings. But I should have excellent 4g. I don't and I believe there is a conflict with the baseband/modem and the 4.4.4 liquidsmooth os.
And thanks a ton for all the help you have given!

Frequently data issues are a matter of bad APN settings. Have you checked to see if yours are correct?
This thread by enewman17 discusses upgrading modem and bootloader starting at DLK3. He has links to bootloader and modem files. There should be no issues with signed files.
I have the SGH-I747

TWRP: 2.8.0.1
I have no WiFi, loses signal constantly, no front camera (shuts phone off when taking pictures )
Will not take MJ2 to NEW zip
And how do I UPGRADE TWRP?
Please someone help fix my issues. Connectivity was great at first, wasn't aware of WiFi issue till today. Front camera I can live without but if I can fix with the other issues, that would be great. The connection is stronger but drops like a rock, sometimes have to reboot phone.

That has information that may be the key to solving your issues.
I am extrapolating from much reading about people using the MJB, android 4.3, bootloader and modem on KitKat ROMs. The ROMs I read about were TouchWiz based, but the info may still apply. (MJ2 was the leaked release of MJB. The only difference I recall is that MJ2 did not include KNOX, and you can downgrade from it.)
People were having issues running the KK roms from both the MJ2 and MJB bootloader and modem while using the kernel that came with the custom TouchWiz ROMs. Their issues were solved by changing to one of two specific kernels. ibuddler developed one of the kernels, links to it can be found in the OP of LikeWise ROM. The other kernel was by ktoonsez, I don't have a link to his thread. You can not use a kernel for a TouchWiz ROM with an AOSP based ROM. Fortunately ktoonsez also has a kernel for AOSP roms.
Full disclosure, earlier Kitkat ROMs ran fine on MJ2 and MJB, it was later builds that needed either updated firmware or the custom kernels.
I found the kt747 zip and tried v3&v4 of ibuddler. Tried to reboot and each would not boot( over 10 min). But I was able to find this ad so far(fingers crossed) it seems to work just fine. I does switch from 4g to 3 when it is at idle.
3.4.101 leankernel-aosp_kitkat-9.9-+
lk_s3aosp_kitkat-v9.9.zip
I'm still trying it out,but so far so good. I'm still having issues getting an update for twrp. Speaking of updates. Liquidsmooth updated this morning. It updated the kernel and it was way wrong for my os.
Thank you so much for your patience with me in this journey into something I had no clue of. I still would like to update my bootloader and modem to NE4. But I want to wait before I screw something up. Do some more research as I am unable to use odin.

[Q] Safestrap on rooted Sprint Galaxy S3 OTA 4.3 MK3

I've been using a factory ROM Sprint Samsung Galaxy SPH-L710 happily for quite a while. Outside of custom launchers and Widget Locker type stuff I've been trying hard to live [happily] within the factory constraints. Then I discovered Tasker, Daily Roads Voyager, and a bunch of other really fun stuff. And down the rabbit hole I went.
So thus far I've rooted using the excellent Saferoot found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50744761
Now I want to be able to do nandroid backups so I can capture snapshot-in-time backups of my device. I keep seeing reference for using Snapshot on the Sprint S3 but the only sources I've seen for downloading Safestrap do not specifically reference the Sprint Galaxy S3 so I'm unsure if it's supported or not.

You dont need safestrap on the sprint version of s3 since we dont have locked bootloaders. Its mainly for the variants with locked bootloaders. You can ODIN either TWRP, CWM or Philz.
It was my understanding that the latest OTA 4.3 release specifically locked the bootloader and installed Knox. Which is why I went with Saferoot to begin with.
The firmware only installed KNOX apps and bootloader. SO, you can remove KNOX from the phone but not the bootloader. NEVER try to downgrade the bootloader as you will brick. You are stuck on that bootloader until someone figures something out.
Edit: The bootloader is not locked.

So, the conclusion is there's no work around or tool to allow nandriod backups even after rooting the OTA 4.3 update. No Safestrap viable for this particular device and factory ROM?
You can create backups from CWM, TWRP or Philz at anytime even on 4.3 MK3 without any issues. There is no safestrap for the sprint variant only ATT and Verizon (to my knowledge).
For clarification then the Sprint variant can use odin safely? Are there specific ROMs that are we are limited to? I went the SafeRoot route myself but have been petrified to try anything else because it seems every post I read contradicts the one before it. I downloaded the Online Nandroid Backup app and it seems to be working. I landed here trying to educate myself on SafeStrap. All I want is 4.1.2 back on my phone. This OTA has totally made my once silky smooth handset a laggy battery sucking pos!

I have used ODIN numerous times and have had no issues! You can flash any ROM you wish just dont downgrade the bootloader or you will brick. BTW, 4.3 is silky smooth for me! I have my S3 running at least 24hrs and around 2.5 to 3hrs screen time (moderate to heavy use) per charge.

Thanks. My stock device started freezing up intermittently and randomly locking up and rebooting. Typing is a joke because it will freeze mid sentence and then all the sudden crap out all the keystrokes like it had to stop and think about what it was doing. Also the Google Maps change and YouTube change annoy the hell out of me. Maps will not lock in on GPS unless i pull down the info bar from the top of the screen and toggle the GPS button off and on. Just a major frustration. This is the only phone I've had to date that I had absolutely no complaints about until 4.3. Sorry for the rant but thanks for the info.

I've been perfectly happy with 4.3 and have had no issues, in fact it's made my S3 the first Android phone I haven't specifically hated after using an iPhone for almost 2 years. Everything works great, and it's fast, and I've loaded all sorts of custom launchers and lock screens and now have it rooted and running various Tasker automation. Great stuff. I'm finally sold on Android.
Regarding your random reboots/locks I had a Galaxy S2 with a dying power button switch that used to do that for months before I finally attributed it to the power switch specifically (when it finally died completely I finally realized it was the switch all along). That doesn't explain any other issues you're having, but it's something to consider. If you're rooted you can probably disable the power switch and assign some other hard button to work as the power button for a couple days as a test.
Good luck.
Thanks for the insight. I don't think it's hardware related since it was never an issue before the OTA but I am willing to try anything and will try it if I ever get the SuperSU to keep from randomly stopping.

The firmware only installed KNOX apps and bootloader. SO, you can remove KNOX from the phone but not the bootloader. NEVER try to downgrade the bootloader as you will brick. You are stuck on that bootloader until someone figures something out.
Edit: The bootloader is not locked.

I really need some help here. I'm looking to switch to the s3 but all this talk of knox and stuff is really turning me away from it because rooting and using custom roms are a big thing to me, i just need a device that can support it well. So what exactly do you mean when you say downgrade the bootloader? and would i be able to flash roms that run kitkat? or would i have to update my device to kitkat and root while running 4.4?

This is what I would do if you dont have 4.4:
1 Odin the official stock ND8
2 Flash TWRP 2.6.3.0
3 Go to the dev thread and folow the direction in OP and flash Wicked X 7.3 (custom 4.4) & thank bilgerryan
If you have 4.4 then proceed with 2 & 3!
You will then have a custom 4.4 rom on your S3!

2. flash Philz recovery cause that one supposedly works best with ND8

[Q] Updating to NE6 Firmware

You need to download and Odin flash the official stock N900T NE6 firmware.
Here is the direct fast download link for it:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358537528
The zip file also contains Odin, CF-Autoroot and TWRP 2.7.0.1 recovery.
Unzip the file into a new folder in windows desktop.
Be sure to go into recovery before Odin flashing NE6 and do a factory data reset
and a full wipe. Then Odin flash the TAR/MD5 firmware.
After successful odin flash, put the phone into download mode again and
flash cf-autoroot and the TWRP 2.7.0.1 tar files.
If you want more information and or instructions here is the link:

Ok So I did all the above and it worked good. I have all the New "Features". However, Baseband is still NB4 while the Build Version is NE6. Shall i try to fix this or leave well enough alone?

run triangle away v3.26.apk from chainfire, when you apply the info. it will shut down, power off, then boot to bootloader and flash firmware, that was the easiest way for the modem, baseband to stick....

Fix it! I think the baseband is partly to blame for the the data drops in nb4. And I'm getting way better battery life as well. To get the new baseband to stick download Triangle Away then reflash in Odin. Worked for me. Id recommend you wipe your data too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/orig-development/2013-10-04-triangleaway-v3-10-t1494114

Use Triangle Away to reset your flash counter and make it official. Then flash NE6 with Odin/Mobile Odin to get latest baseband.

do i need to be on stock nb4 kernel then use triangle away or does using triangle away good enough to start the process?
Just did this today, you need to be on a stock samsung kernel for triangle away the warning is VERY clear in the app. Personally, when a developer says "do it this way, or you will have a problem" I take their advice.
Read carefully and follow ALL of the instructions very carefully as well.
There are at least two different threads covering how to flash this. One has "stock ODEX" {{ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2713354 }}, the other has "stock Deodexed" {{ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761451 }}

There is "NO" way to update officially to NE6 if you have rooted, modded, used a custom recovery in the past on you Note 3.
If you have tripped knox in any way, you will already have the bootloader you need to be on, and can flash the new stock rom from the forum.
If you have not tripped knox, have no custom recovery, have never done anything to your phone, then you are free to get the update as TMO pushes it out.

I am looking for a thread that has just the modem files I need to flash to either update my modem or flash the previous modem if I have data issues.
I have searched and I know the thread exists (at least for the older modems) but for the life of me I can't find it -
Any help? Do you have the Note 3 TMOBILE modem bin's you can give me (or provide me a link? For the latest update and in the event there are issues for me to return to the previous version?
Any help is appreciated!

It does exist, but just flashing the modem alone won't solve your problem. I tried it yesterday. Seems to need something else. I flashed just modern and left the rest of phone the same. Still having to toggle every so often with the ne6 modem in here.

Good luck. I'm switching to at&t this next week. Just paid off my eip. I just want functionality. Going to hit up an aosp ROM later today to compare. When I cone back to touch wiz maybe *all new roms will be updated to ne6. It's weird though because I used to not have any issues, then a week ago I couldn't connect to anything on lte. Was hoping it was just a modem issue, but probably needs kernel as well.

That's what I told the t-mobile rep the other day. Phones will be bought through t mobile, but as far as reliability I'm going to have to go with att. I would have stayed with t mobile if they didn't cancel my companies discount program. It was 15%, but my company decided to no longer offer the program. With att I will have a 25% and no contract. Can't really beat it.

I also tried TMOBILE services - I could not get any signal strength inside my home so the only way to make calls was to use WIFI Calling - (probably why they built that feature in the first place)
Then the data speeds were very slow - the fastest speed I could get around town was around 6mps - but on ATT I get consistent speeds over 20MBS and soemtimes 35MBS and higher - download speeds have been also very good -
I have seen others praise TMOBILE for the high speeds they get - so maybe things are better in their market? Don't know - just that they suck where i live...

In my area they are great if outdoors, but don't cover the whole city. I also have zero indoor penetration. They have bought a ton of 700 MHz spectrum off of Verizon, so that portion should get better soon.
Their LTE is fast where I live if you can get it. I got 35 Mbps the other day. But again, I have to travel outside of the city on jobs and am quite frequently without Wi-Fi or service.... So the jump is going to be made. I use my personal cell phone for work, and if I don't have signal, that is money lost...

that is so wrong, i just did it, i used triangle away to reset my counter rebooted to let it do its thing, then chose download mode, flashed ne6 rebooted and i was at the updated baseband.

Anything special updating your phone?

Just wondering if there's anything special or cool about getting your phone updated to the newest version available, I got my phone already with a custom rom on it(modified), can't update it thru OTA, or 4.2.2. is till a pretty decent Version to sit and and still kick ass? ;p
IMO, i like KitKat (4.4+) more than Jellybean (4.3-). You can update via Kies if you want but you can't go back. Or you can just stay with the bootloader you have now and just flash custom ROMs, kernels and modem. 4.3+ has KNOX security but if you don't have a warranty then tripping the "KNOX counter" is nothing to worry about.
Nah, dont have a warranty on it. Got it with a custom rom, i guess some1 flashed it before selling it to me, it runs good n wut not, just was wondering wut i might have been missing out n w.e. xD if newer versions improve battery life consumption, makes it faster, etc, then it sounds good xD ill prolly try thru kies later n see if it goes thru
You dont HAVE to upgrade. Try Insane KitKat. Its a great custom ROM. Fast and good battery life. And if you download the sickness mods v5 (4.4.2) before he uploads v6(4.4.4), you can add whatever you want from the AROMA options.
Never used any of those custom roms.
On other hand, today i opened my phone to do some stuff on it, and it felt like some1 touched it(one of my bros), it wanted me to restart my phone to upgrade to 4.3 update. I guess somehow i got t-mobile OTA update and they clicked on it and downloaded the 700mb+ file. Oh well i guess, how good is the 4.3? Much better then 4.2.2? Or so so?
The new nh7 modem is tight. You can do this update because you are still on the MDL bootloader.

An OTA update will update your whole firmware. You might get another update for NH7 after you do that one.
Ahh I see, but OTA's don't usually change your bootloader eh? Just everything else.

Oh well I guess. Someone took my phone while playing games, and downloaded the new OTA, now it's going to keep bugging me to update it. Loved it at 4.2.2. Hope the nh7 is going to be better, heard tons of ppl having battery draining, bad reception, etc, maybe just a small % of ppl. not sure o.o Someone said nh7 is going to be smooth and fast, etc, haha that would be great rofl.

Once you update whether OTA or Odin, you will have to root again. You can ignore the update. There is a way to stop the notifications, just use Google.

How good is that insane rom? I mainly use my gs4 for calling, navigation, listening to music(downloaded/streaming), streaming movies sometimes thru wifi, games sometimes, use apps to remove wasted ram/Junk files/help with battery drain, etc. Main thing is really i need is the good signal at all times, so navigation and all that crap works awesome, calling, net. If all you've done is download the OTA but you haven't actually applied it AND you are still on the 4.2.2 MDL bootloader, I'd say leave your bootloader on MDL. I'm not saying don't run updated ROMs, I'm just saying not to take an official update. Use Odin to flash the newest modem and use custom recovery to flash any of the 4.4.x ROMs in the Android Development section, Original Android Development, or Unified Development sections. If you use custom recovery to flash the newer ROMs you still get the benefits of having updated firmware, you just don't end up having KNOX. Myself, along with numerous other users here, are still on the MDL bootloader, NH7 modem, and running modified/stock 4.4.4 NH7 TouchWiz ROM with no problems to speak of. The only thing about keeping the old bootloader, the only modem you can update is your GSM modem, not LTE; although as I said, I really haven't noticed any drop in reception... I still get full LTE whenever I'm in an area which has LTE penetration...

Do not take APH1 Update!

After taking the APH1 update on my phone, I can no longer downgrade to PG5, and I also can't flash the PG9 U firmware. I don't know what Samsung/Verizon did, but it's ridiculous.
I'm now stuck on the APH1 firmware and can't get on the U firmware at all.
I haven't tried rooting, but there is no Odin firmware for APH1 yet, so I'm not going to try until there is, so that if I mess up my phone I can fix it.

For me a lot of it is this is not the most conventional root, not very stable for me and battery life suffered a lot compared to stock, and flashing U firmware has not been very cooperative for me.
So thoughts.... I am on the latest U firmware on my 930V. Should I consider flashing back to the stock Verizon rom? Everything is working great. I do plan on jumping ship from Verizon in the next year or so. I am blown away at how well this phone runs stock and only flashed the U in preparation to take it to another carrier afterwards. Is this a bad idea?
Tried to live with root, but the battery and stability was horrible. Now, I am using the engboot to do any data back up or restore tasks in TiBU then flashing the AP again to unroot. Data is maintained, but now I have to live with ads. I use adguard, by it feel like it hurts battery life. Will try and quantify that soon.
Being able to count on my phone to make a call and hold a charge is too important to me. Rooting the phone to set it up after a reset saves me time. Unfortunately, rooting with our current method is too prohibitive for daily use.

Same here.
I have a 930U that I use on Verizon. I use the 930V firmware because I like having visual Voicemail. I have rooted 3 different times and gone back to stock everytime. I suppose it because of the engineering kernel but root with the S7 is just not stable. The battery life sucks and you have to do so many things to fix the lag it has just become not worth it. Also the 2 latest updates from Verizon have been good on battery. I do like not having Verizon logos all over my phone.

Been using the same ROM for almost a week with xposed and everything is fine. I feel great without seeing the ads again. haha! BTW, I didn't try the nearby devices so no comment on that.
I have the G930V and am running APH1 with root no problems. The lag was horrendous but after changing the CPU governor to "interactive" on BOTH CPU's (little and BIG) it's been running smooth. I'll run like this for a bit... but stang5liter looks like it will be my next move.
Has anyone with ph1 tried flashing another rom such as stang5litre?

PH1 doesn't break root. You just can't downgrade to older firmware's or flash any U firmware's. PH1 is still completely rootable.
So you can't Odin flash back to a stock image if you get in trouble or want to unroot. I guess I'll stay on PG5 for now.
I'm not rooted now, but was able to disable system update notifications using
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hecorat.packagedisabler
By disabling:
System updates (com.samsung.sdm)
System updates (com.samsung.sdmviewer)
and securitylogagent

Thanks @FoxyDrew for clarifying that... and I agree.
I used the following GUIDE to root APH1 on my S7 Flat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/verizon-root-knox-t3410624
Im somewhat confused. Your saying you cant downgrade from ph1. Are you talking only with odin? Reason i ask is stang5litre rom is APE1. And as was stated a few posts up, this rom can be flashed on rooted APH1. Which would take you back to APE1. Therefor downgradable? Any help is appreciated.

Ph1 upgrades the boot image therefore you cannot Odin flash back to stock pe1 which is the older boot image.
You can still root and flash stang5litre which is the pe1 rom, but you still have the ph1 boot image.

You can still root and flash stang5litre which is the pe1 rom, but you still have the ph1 boot image. So if something goes wrong, you have no means of recovery back to stock since there is no ph1 stock Odin image.

The ph1 image is available at this link (http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=78F84FCD811E11E69B2DFA163EE8F90B). I have flashed with these files and they work perfect.
Seems bootloader was uograded to version 3. So may be possible to flash between tmo and vzw and vice versa. Both now have v3 bootloader.
