Issues with MMS/mobile data after updating. - Verizon LG G4

I took the 11A update so that I could root my phone, and since then I've noticed that I no longer have simultaneous voice and data. It worked perfectly before, but now it just goes to the 1x and has no connectivity during calls. I also cannot send an MMS when connected to wifi. It will eventually time out and fail, but if I disconnect wifi it will send instantly. Any troubleshooting things I can do to fix these issues?

Apparently Advanced Calling isn't activated, and it won't stay activated when I select it. Anything to do to fix that?

Did you freeze the app mentioned in posts #16-18 in your other thread, "Caller Name ID"?

Yours may not be the same symptoms as the other user (they sound closer to my symptoms when still running 610B). But it may be worth checking.
If you're using Verizon's Message+, it can send texts over WiFi. Perhaps that feature could be causing trouble, if it doesn't get along well with your WiFi somehow?

Do you use as block plus by chance? If so try removing it, I had the exact same symptoms while using it. I switched to adaway and no issues.

You have to disable ABP, if you straight uninstall it it leaves the host files. I am not to sure where it stores the backed up host files but you can try to reinstall ABP enable blocking, disable blocking then uninstall. It may require a reboot after disabling. Not sure if this will help but its worth a shot.

"vzwavsservice" FCs

Hello -- I was trying out a MDM in the office on my G3, and after disassociating my device with it, I started getting FCs on "vzwavsservice". Mainly when the phone boots up. I can't really find any information online as to what this actually does. I have just disabled it. I have not noticed anything different or malfunctioning on my G3.
Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Obviously it is some sort of VZ Addon...But wondering what its functionality or reasoning is.
Thanks in advance.

I'll be honest. After I posted this, and I froze/disabled this "Service"...I haven't noticed anything not working or acting funny. I would say this is safe to disable. It is likely some type of Verizon add-on.
If you do disable it and see something act up, let me know. Would love to know what it does lol. But for now -- Mine remains disabled. :good:

Try opening the verizon mobile application (the app you would use to check your data...etc)...
Does that give you an error after logging in?
I think that is what it is for...
I started getting this today too. Most of my Verizon stuff is frozen however. Wonder if VZW is pushing an OTA today. Those of us getting it, are we all rooted?
I just got this force close today after updating some apps on the play store. Posting in the Verizon LG G3 section might get more responces.

It appears to be conflict with new Google+ update

You can disable the VZWAVSService without being rooted. Which likely means it is really really pointless.
I get it sometimes on stock unrooted, but also always when I have stuck a T-Mobile or ATT sim in the Verizon LG G3.
VZWAVSService caused by Google+ Update
The VZWAVSService error ceased when I went to application manager and uninstalled the Google+ updates.
Once the updates were uninstalled, my mobile hotspot and USB tether functions returned.
It seems that this service is an address verification process. This explains why, when my phone checked my subscription status for Mobile Hotspot and Tethering service, the functions did not activate.

My hotspot service works with VZWAVSService disabled. I do not think that hotspot and this app are related since I had also disabled this service on my Galaxy S3 for months and the hotspot service still worked the entire time.
I have a Verizon LG G3. I just uninstalled the Google+ updates and reverted back to an "Original Version" to see if that goofy message will cease to continue. I am rooted and i have Wifi Tether Router installed. I used Stump Root to root the device.

Just freeze the app, you can even do it in the stock settings. Vzwavservice-Verizon's anti virus software that McAfee makes and it is strait garbage.
The 11c update fixed this issue?
After flashing beans 11c and using if for a while I realized that I had not re-frozen vzwavsservice. It isn't closing on boot anymore. I believe Verizon fixed this issue in the latest software release.

Wifi Calling Error

I am just curious if anyone else is having trouble with wifi calling after the update? I can't get mine to connect at all. Sometimes nothing ever happens and sometimes I get an error message ER081.. I googled it and only the Note 4 I believe is reported of having this issue and it was fixed by doing something to the router. I don't think that is the case for me because Ive reset them twice. I reset my phone too. I called TMo and they're clueless. Any ideas??

Just chiming in to say I'm having identical issues. Tried multiple wifi routers (work, friend's place, etc), none work. Unfortunately I don't have any advice beyond what you already mentioned (factory reset).
Questions:
Was your update OTA? I used LG mobile support tool.
Do you think re-downloading/installing the update would be worth trying? My first thought is no. Basically if 99% of functions are working then it seems unlikely there was an error in download/install steps...

So I found out it was my modem from Time Warner Cable. I ran some speed tests on my wifi and it was running extremely slow. I was still getting decent internet speeds on all my devices, but I guess it was slow enough to mess up wifi calling. It turns out they upgraded the firmware around the same time I reflashed 5.0. It was more of a matter of coincidence. Try to have your internet provider factory reset your modem and re-tune the wifi channels.
I have same issue too.
I used LG Mobile support tool too.
my sd card wasn't recognized by g3 at first, so I format the card and now it works.. I just need to fix this wifi calling, and heavy battery usage...
also, when I go check setting, it's pretty much stuck on enabling... and when I mess with VoLTE toggle, sometimes I get error message, 99

I just got off phone with T-Mobile, tech support said, it's known issue, and temp fix is to get OTA via text msg and engineers are working on the backend to fix the issue.

I got the problem resolved
I had the similar issue on my LG G3 after Android 5.0 upgrade. This is because of wifi calling upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0 included in this android update.
I called T-Mobile support and they reset the APN settings over the phone. Issue is fixed now. Great!:highfive:

Well when I called 611 they tried everything and I still had the issue, they were about to do a device trade in because they couldn't figure it out. Might work for some, not me though.
If any of you want to roll back to kitkat I found a website that showed how to do it and it worked. I am getting alerts to upgrade but will wait til the bugs are fixed
I can't post the link because I haven't made 10 posts yet but if you are interested message me for the link and then maybe you can post if you posted more than 10 times

Yeah that's what I had to do. I had Time Warner factory reset it. I have the Tmo cellspot router hooked up to the TWC modem and it wasn't working initially either. After they reset it and tuned the signal mine started working with no hiccups.
Try turning wifi off and wifi calling off. Then turn wifi on and wifi calling back on then see if it will work..

I spoke to T Mobile today concerning the WIFI calling not enabling. They stated that they are aware and have been working with LG to get a fix. But there is no time frame for the fix. However, I have a work around that helps me out.
1. Go to settings >> Networks and tap Airplane Mode.
2. Wait for Airplane mode to enable, and, wifi states "Connections not allowed".
3. This is important! Read carefully. otherwise this will not work. While Airplane mode is enabled, enable wifi. Wait! When Airplane Mode goes from being gray to bold then disable Airplane mode.
4. Wait a few seconds and wifi calling will come one.

Apparently Big Red knows when you're rooted.

Talking to Verizon support today trying to figure out why Advanced Calling wasn't working, and they straight up said that it appeared that I was rooted. I feigned ignorance, but I thought it was very odd that they knew this.
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
The My Verizon Mobile is the one that tells them. If you deny it root when it asks, it knows you have root. If you didn't have root I think there would be no reply to it's asking for root.
Ah, is that why my advanced calling isn't working? Annoying.
I need to call them for my Advanced Calling as well (as it's complete horse s**t that I need to enable that so my phone doesn't drop from 4G to 1X) but I've never been prompted by My Verizon about root access...
There's a system property you can find with "getprop" called "vzw.os.rooted". I tried changing it in build.prop, but it didn't work. There's also a partition called persistent with a file /persistent/rct.cfg detailing some not allowed system behavior. There are things that detect root since it's pretty noticable and readable to everything at /system/xbin/su. An app that communicates to the internet could easily transmit that information. This is one of the many reasons I have a firewall (AFWall+). I installed it pretty soon after I got root, but one of the many vzw bloatware apps probably got the info out. Guess what, I don't give a s***.
FWIW, I had a lot of difficulty trying to activate Advanced Calling on software 610B. I worked with Tech Support for a week, no luck.
I finally updated to 611A as a last resort, and it suddenly worked. So if you're having trouble getting AC enabled, and you're on 610B, you may need to update your software version.

Isn't 11A the upgraded version of 11B? I know it sounds backwards, but we had to KDZ that to root phone.
Before I rooted my advanced calling worked. After root when I make calls it drops to 1x. Don't really care as I don't browse the internet on my phone while on a call (99% of the time).
Still, it's pretty dumb of Verizon. Then again they do more than their fair share of dumb corporate related ****.
Mine works and I'm rooted with no firewall or protection to block them knowing.

AFAIK, there is no 11B.
Just 610B (original, what shipped on my G4), and 611A (OTA update, which I needed to use in order to properly activate AC).
I am not rooted.
Advanced Calling also works fine for me on rooted 11A. However, I recently disabled it because ACR will not record calls with it turned on.

For those of us who haven't fully been following the root discussions, what does that mean, that you KDZ'd to 11A? You had 610B, you used KDZ to put on a 611A image (not taking the OTA to 611A, so you kept the 610B bootloader), then rooted that?
Did AC work before root, presumably on 610B?
After what I went through to finally get AC working, I would really hate for root to break that

AC worked perfectly for me on 10B, and after I rooted (KDZing to 11A) it will no longer activate. I tried toubleshooting with VZW, and none of the things they did on their end fixed it. The only suggestion they had was factory resetting, but I haven't tried that yet.
I'm sorry to hear that.
There seems to be some mysterious magic to Verizon's Advanced Calling. In the span of a week, after a bunch of work on their end, Verizon was unable to fix mine, they resorted to telling me to exchange the phone. I had already done a factory reset, at their suggestion, which did not change anything. Then after the OTA to 611A, it suddenly worked, and it seemed this was a surprise to them, as well as to me.
Having issues with AC after rooting would seem worse, they could potentially blame any issues on root.
Why problems with AC can't be figured out, and then fixed, is kind of disconcerting. I guess maybe there's a reason the phone calls it Advanced Calling 1.0.
AC was working for me also and then it stopped. I was already on 11a before rooting. If you have the verizon app called name and id on your phone ac will not work. Once I froze that app in tibu it went back to working. I'm not for certain but I don't think that app was on my phone before root so it may have been included in the rooted img file.

LG G4 WiFi issues

Good evening all.
Has anyone with a G4 on VZW noticed issues with apps on wifi since the latest firmware update? I've called Verizon and been on the phone with them for HOURS to no avail.
The only time wifi works normally is in safe mode. When I'm on wifi, most apps just aren't functional at all. We thought it was some app in particular so we reset the phone and the issue persists. The only thing tech support suggests is giving me another refurbished G4 which will get us nowhere as the new G4 will just be running the same firmware.
This is problematic for me as I work in and out of different buildings on any given day. These buildings don't always provide the best reception. I clamored with Verizon for a different, comparable phone. I spoke with LG and their solution is me sending the phone in with the turnaround time being 5-7 business day which is also problematic as I don't have another phone to use. Verizon refuses to acknowledge it's an "issue" because it's not "wide spread". A quick search revealed that this problem is not limited to just me.
I've exhausted my options. I do not want to spend hours on the phone with Verizon again. I do not want to speak with LG for the same phone again. I simply want a working phone. This is the 3rd G4 that I've had that does not work. The 3rd G4 in almost as many months. What are my options here?
tl;dr This is my 3rd LG G4 that doesn't work and the latest firmware update broke the wifi functionality. Verizon refuses to acknowledge the issue and will only give me the same phone, not a comparable phone. What are my options?"

I spoke with them again today. Their only option is to send the same phone again which isn't going to fix anything unfortunately.
Same problem here (and also with friends who have both VZW and the G4). This exact issue popped up on the LG G3, also after an update. Infuriating that they broke another otherwise good phone. The workaround is to install an app called DNSet. It sets the DNS to Google's, which fixes it.

I am having the same issues. doesn't matter which Wi-Fi network I'm on, it is terrible. Otherwise I love the phone, but this is getting really frustrating
Yeah I'm having the same issue. It's maddening!! Nothing comes through unless I manually sync or have to open the app to get it to sync. How is this an acceptable software update for verizon - who usually requires a high level of quality control on software updates??
The Update broke Notifications over WiFi. It has something to do with IPv6. Verizon PULLED the update because this is a major problem.
Either call Verizon and have them replace the phone (you will get the older firmware 11A back on it)
OR
The fix is to download DDNS or something (It is a VPN service) that routes ALL internet traffic over IPv4 connections. I forget the specific name, but it is being heavily discussed in the "VERIZON UPDATE" forum in the General section.

Read the thread, I think toward the end more.

You can fix this issue without root by using the app DNSet from the Google Play store. You hit 1 button (the one and only button), and it turns off IPv6, and problem solved.

So as far as the update goes I really do like it. However I am having a couple issues. Wifi calling will no longer connect for starters. Also when I open messaging and then open a conversation there's like a 2 sec pause before the conversation actually opens. Anyone else having these issues? I'm wondering if I should just do a hard reset and start from scratch. Thanks for any help.

No wifi calling for me after enabled for a few minutes from a fresh reboot. Get a can't connect wifi calling to the network message, but if I reboot It works right after for a few again.
I have neither issue, and I use WiFi calling on many different networks, you should call Sprint and have then reset your WiFi calling. On the messaging, try a different app, such as Textra. I notice a lil more battery drain, but that will prolly change after 7 soaks in for a few days.

It likely will not, or doesn't for me. I'd go without it for a while and make sure WiFi calling is fine. (make a few calls and such) then later fill a report from within the app feedback. They will likely get back to you asking to change the logging level to everything and reproduce the problem. so maybe do that from the start. The more reports the better chance it gets fixed.

Also when I open messaging and then open a conversation there's like a 2 sec pause before the conversation actually opens. Anyone else having these issues? I'm wondering if I should just do a hard reset and start from scratch. Thanks for any help.

Have you found a solution to the delayed opening of conversations? Mine is doing the same thing, I've done a hard reset and it does it still

Sadly no. If it's a known issue it could be fixed in a future update.

Welp it would seem WiFi calling is borked when using any VPN service.
Yay for Nougat....lol
god i hope they release a patch soon (doubtful)...
Is there anyway to roll back to 6.0?
WiFi Calling is now working when using Adguard when using build 2.8.71
NEED URGENT HELP
I updted my LG G5 sprint to Nougat and since then the LG IMS stopped error has been popping every sec....
is anyone having this issue and how to fix it
LG G5 Text Message Issues since Adroid 7.0 Nougat Update
The problem with not receiving text messages reliably on an LG phone running Android 7.0 Nougat is related to the text messaging app that LG created and loaded onto our phones as the default messaging app. I reported this issue to LG about a month ago after extensive testing and I've confirmed that many 3rd party messaging apps will work reliably. For instance and app like Textra will work reliably and offers much more functionality than the built in LG app.
I even went as far as to provided my testing details then send my phone in for warranty repair so that LG could have a closer look and work towards a resolution but all LG did was factory reset my phone and said that the phone worked fine. When I got it back I tested again and the issue remained. I firmly believe LG has no idea how to resolve this software issue and is ignoring it at this point and basically screwing their customers over. Luckily the solution is to ditch the LG messaging app and use any 3rd party messaging app instead.....but I would encourage anyone having this issue to hold LG to task and report it to them as this issue is a direct result of a poorly written application they created.
This is my first LG and it will be my last....never again!
