Need a 3 meter cord for my new OPO - ONE Accessories

Hi.
Charging cable is so short.
Is there a good, safe, fast 3M (10ft) or 1.5M (5ft) option? OnePlus doesn't seem to have such a cable on their site.
Thanks!

You could buy an extension cord to plug in your charger. It seems that any other charger is slower, am I wrong?

Yeah I need a longer one too, not good for in bed

If you can, I'd order from Monoprice. They have a large selection of cables and good quality.

I think you just have to make shure that the cable can handle 5V 2A and not only 5V 1A

What rating is the one from OnePlus? Cause that is super fast at charging? 2A?

Yes 5V 2A, you can check it on the wall adapter

i just ordered this one last night. it uses 21AWG pwr wires in the bundle. I read a bunch or reviews and it seems to have the best current over a long length.
http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Braided...ie=UTF8&qid=1439994659&sr=1-17&keywords=anker

You probably will receive no joy from that cable from Anker. Way to long.
Read this and choose one of the cables they tested. I opted for the EZOPower Extra Long 6ft from Amazon or ebay. I got it cheaper on ebay.
Let us know what charging rates you get with the Anker. I use Ampre app to measure.
http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-micro-usb-cable/
Rick

6' is too short for what I need it for. I have 2 10' cables already and I usually get around 550ma. I've watched/read a ton of reviews and this anker usually sees around 1200ma. It uses 21awg wire for the power wires. It'll be in on Tuesday so I'll be sure post then.
If I need a quick boost I use the 3' cable that came with the phone. The 10' if it takes a extra 1-2 his to charge don't really matter since it's plugged in for several hours at a time anyways. I'd rather have convenience over speed... That's why I installed a qi coil in mine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...ded-internal-qi-charging-to-opo-pics-t2997326

Got the 10' cable today. Charges at 1200+mA. I have two other genetic cables that only get around 500mA. The anker is the red one. Money well spent.

Wow so I should have waited a few more min before declaring that it charges at 1200ma. I only left it plugged in for a few min when I checked battery monitor. This morning after charging all night it actually sped up and plateaued at 1800ma! Pretty dang good considering the stock charger/cable one sees charge rates of 1900.

I would go for AC side extension cord.

You're going to need it to be 4x as thick if you want it to be 3m and have the oneplus detect it as the original charger. OR we could all demand that onePlus allow us to use normal cables.

Efficient enough car charger.

Hi guys.
I have a problem finding good car charger for my phone while in car.
I either use sygic sat nav or Google maps but on top of that I stream music either via Google music or di.fm app.
Problem starts when I start streaming. My battery slowly drops down about 1% per 15min. I've tried various car chargers that have either 1amp, 2.1 amp and even dual 3.5amp they don't do the job. Only my HTC 1amp charger manages to hold the charge but it doesn't charge on top of that.
Any ideas and suggestions?

I bought the car charger from Amazon HERE earlier this year and it has worked out awesome. I usually leave it in my car but also makes a great wall charger for when you need it in a pinch and didnt bring your own. Its 17 (I got free shipping since I have Amazon Prime) and well worth it since I dont think I ever have to buy another car charger again for any device I own. Even charges my tablet.
Genuine Motorola rapid car charger, simply the best. Charges like a wall charger, seriously, phone says it's plugged into AC power
No other charger I have used, has allowed to use Google navigation and still quickly charge my galaxy nexus

In some roms like Slim ICS you can make the USB charge as fast as a wall charger!
I use a rocketfish 1a charger from bestbuy and it charges while using navigation and streaming.

I use a 1A HTC charger and never had any issues. Are you sure your cigarette lighter is working properly? It sounds like all of these chargers you've tried are charging at less than 1A.
I think 1 amp is about all it will do. It will have a hard time keeping up if you are using it a lot. I have the htc car charger and it seems to keep up for me but actually getting a decent charge while using it will be hard.

not all 1a chargers actually charge at 1a. it depends on if the two middle pins are shorted together or not.
this charger is cheap as hell - 3 bucks - and charges at a full 1a. i use it and it works perfectly.

I noticed this too, using a Kensington USB charger in the car. On my drive out to Phoenix, I noticed that having Navigation running while plugged in caused the battery to drain.
I also noticed that running Torque sucks the battery down as well. I stopped at a gas station that had a ton of gadgets, so I bought another off-brand USB adapter that stated its output is 1.5A. I also picked up the OEM extended battery at a VZW store while out there. It doesn't drain as fast now, but it does still drain a bit.
Motorola
Absolutely go for the motorola charger. I use it everytime in car, it's a 1A charger, has a nice blue light and can charge your phone even when using navigation.
And on top of that it's also cheap. I bought it in boundle with a motorola wall charger @ 10€.
is it this one guys http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Motorol...846874?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a1ea6619a
Make shift cable.
If you're super cheap and/or like to DIY, I was able to get my Galaxy Nexus to recognize any USB charger as AC by cutting a USB extension cable in half. I then soldered/twisted the green and white wires within the USB cable together and then I soldered the red to red and black to black. By putting the modified USB extension in between the charger and a USB to Micro USB cable it will force the phone to recognize the charger as AC instead of USB. I sealed up my adapter with some White and Green heat-shrink tubing I had lying around so it would be easy to identify. Same thing can be done to a USB to Micro-USB cable if you want.

OEM charger output vs. high output car charger

IIRC the stock wall charger is rated at 1.8Ah. But, what is the phone's actual draw? Does it ever get up there near 1.8mAh?
I'm just trying to figure out if a car charger with "only 1000mA" will be sufficient. I'm guessing that the OEM wall charger is rated well above whatever the phone might ask for, but as to how much, I don't know.
I'm actually looking at these two right now as they both seem to give a pretty high output for both Android and Apple devices.

My experience with other phones is that the phone draws exactly what the stock charger gives it. I'd imagine it's the same with this one. 3140mah is a lot of battery to charge.

I'd agree. I charged it the first couple days using the OGP wall charger and USB cable from my Nexus 4. It took all night. Switched the cable with the one in the box, and it charges in like an hour!
I have a 2.1a car charger, and the OGPro charges in exactly the same amount of time as the stock wall charger.
Oddly, it charges slower from my 2a Note II charger.

Im looking at all of the chargers from Anker on Amazon. It seems they have the best positive reviews of anything I've seen. Although the 3.6 watt (white unit with either 2 usb ports or one port and a micro usb cable) unit is newer than the 3.1 (black heavy duty), the black unit can give the full 3.1 watts to either port or split it amongst the two ports. And according to Anker, either port will work for Apple or android. They suggested i get the newer (white) unit, but i want to have the full 3.1 watts available to a single port for future h higher powered devices.
I'll have to check those out. I've been looking at this one, which has good reviews on it.

My concern with that one is that it gives a total of 2.1A. So if you charge your OGP using one usb port, there's only 0.3A left for the other port. The disclaimer at the end of the description says that if you are charging an iPad to not use the second port. I'm guessing that warning would also apply too us with the high draw OGP. It also states that the blue light gets even brighter in the dark. You might need to cover the led if it's too bright, but that's a personal taste thing, and it might not actually be that intrusive. Lastly, do you have enough room in your vehicle to rest both your phone, and the head of the charging device? I have a dual outlet 12v supplier in my car, but i bought one that has no cord. The two outlets are rigidly mounted right at the end of the cigarette lighter plug.
I bought a Griffin Powerjolt single USB at Walmart. It only charges at full speed using the OGPro's stock cable. Any other cable is slower, and the cable from my old S2 gives me a "Slow Charging" notification.
Anyway, this charger is just a stop-gap. I'm going to be hard wiring two USB plugs into my truck's 12v system (with some 5v regulators and an Add-a-Circuit).
I was looking at the 3.6A charger, here's the link on amazon.
As I expected, one port is for Apple and one for Android. This is very irritating because I need to charge my OGP while my fiance charges her OG at the same time on trips.
Can our OGP charge at full speed on the Apple port?
Edit: I just read that the kernal in Android 4.2 fixes this issue so we can charge in any USB charger, including apple chargers. I'm guessing LG devices still on 4.1 won't benefit from this update.
Shouldn't going to Settings > PC Connection > USB Connection Type and then setting it to "Charge only" force the device to see any cable as a charge only cable thus making it charge faster?

As per Anker, the Apple port will charge Android at full speed. I have not verified this myself as I have not gotten mine yet, but that's what I'm told, and expect. I'm waiting for their wall charger to come back in stock as the shipping will be free if l order both.

Hey I have the same charger. Can you try this for me.
Get a battery lower than 90%. Turn on Maps and set it to navigate somewhere. Put brightness at half and play music (at any volume). Can you watch your temperatures and see if you end up pushing 45C which implies "overheat" and therefore you won't charge?

The Nokia one was through AT&T. The bad thing is uses a barrel plug for power, which makes it a bad choice for travel. It is also bowled out, so the phones don't sit flat, which is kind of stupid.
Most will all work the same. The only difference between the cheaper models compared to the more expensive ones are the features. More expensive ones typically have multiple coils inside to allow multiple positions and ease of use. Cheaper ones typically only have 1 which means you have to sit it in the "sweet spot" vs just plopping your device down.
Some Qi chargers also have different methods for keeping the charge topped off. Some just reach 100% and turn off, so your phone starts consuming batter at 4am = 75% remaining when you wake up. Others will stop, start, stop, start, stop, start... which is ok... unless it has lights and beeps every time it starts/stops. Some describe it as a beeping musical/lightshow at 5am. Most should reach 100% and begin to trickle charge to keep it up.
So know what you're buying and make sure if you buy a cheap model/off brand, you can repurpose it or return/exchange if it doesn't work to your expectations. I've moved my cheaper ones into my home/work offices and I have a good Samsung model by my bedside.

Yeah, no worries on the flat charger I have. It only makes 1 initial beep when connected and that's it. Actually, I'm not sure if it's the charger or the phone that makes the beep haha. When it reaches 100% there's no extra sounds. It also keeps the phone topped off. So when I wake up in the morning it's fully charged, and cool to the touch.

It's not even worth it at $12. Even being from Nokia, it only has a 750mA output current, so the charge time is going to be super slow. The one the OP posted has 1A output. The generic ones I posted are much cheaper and have 1A output.

Yes it will charge faster from an AC adapter (if the amps are enough to fully power the charger) compared to USB into a computer. If you use a PC/Mac USB port there generally is not enough current to allow the charger to operate at full speed. If you have a charger that is 5V/1.5A Input make sure you have a USB adapter that provides at least the same output. If you have an adapter that provides higher (ex: 5V/2A) that is fine as too as the charger will only draw what it needs.

battery widget shows they charge at about 50, compared to my retail that charges super fast at 1000
where do i get GOOD cables?
A few years ago I bought a couple of blackberry OEM cables on Amazon, and ever since, those have been my favorite ones because they are really nice high quality cables. Recently, I was looking to buy some more, and I bought a pack of 5 for $10 from the ebay listing below. I can vouch that they are the same genuine blackberry cables I've received in the past.

I don't think its the USB that slows down the charging. It's the charger? I bought plenty of cheap USB and all charge at same speeds using the stock wall charger..
first of all, thank you!
2nd lol @28usd shipping to Israel

but should i be just looking for OEM cables?

Yes, I would look for genuine OEM cables from a name brand. However, with ebay or other sites that have 3rd party sellers, they will often say OEM when in fact they are knock offs. It is more common with chargers than cables. I felt comfortable with that ebay listing because it looked like an actual picture of the product and not a stock image. Also, I already owned a couple, so I knew what they looked like with the blackberry logo on the end.
USB cables plays a big part. out of my 10 USB cables that i own only 2 can manage to transfer 1A.

Fosmon Vivid Series Flat Tangle Free Micro USB Cable for Smartphones and Other Micro USB Devices (6 Feet, Blue) by Fosmon Technology http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E0M55RC/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_she1sb0525RFD
Comes in a variety of colors. Looks like as of this writing, only the 6ft length is prime eligible. 3ft length has a $2.98USD shipping cost.
I use these all over, have bought many and all are still working great. I use them with a 2A anker charger. Charges my phone very quickly.
Good luck

I pretty much buy all of my cables of any kind from Monoprice.
I just posted a thread about this yesterday.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608236
It's also got a $10 off $30 deal as well. Make sure to choose the Premium Micro USB cable, as the normal one is not guaranteed to charge quickly.

Yeah I purchased initially because I wanted a flat cable. These really are tangle free and they are tough as nails. I bunch them up, roll them up, tug/pull etc and have yet to have one fall apart or crap out functionally.
Biggest problem I have with it is my coworkers stealing it from my desk!

What's the mA charge rate when you use it with your 2A anker charger? Does it allow fast charge (Full 1050mA)?

sorry, I do not know how to test that...?
I am using it with these chargers:
Anker® 18W/3.6A Dual-Port USB Wall Charger / Portable Travel Charge... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B8L36A6/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_SVf1sb1DQ2N3K
Anker® USB 24W / 4.8A Dual-Port Car Charger - Simultaneous, full-speed charging(White) by Anker http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B8M4IMK/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_GXf1sb07XQGKT
It definitely charges substantially faster than the OEM wall charger for my Nexus 5. That may be the charger or cable or both.
Would be happy to test the mA charge rate but I assume I would need an ammeter which I do not have.

If you could test that would be great! I just ordered a bunch of high quality full speed micro USB cables from monoprice that I linked above, but I wouldn't mind having some more that were a little more fun and colorful. It's always nice to change things up every now and again.
You don't need a multimeter or anything.
Just get CurrentWidget off of the play store (it's free) and add a widget to your homescreen. Set the update interval to 1 second, and watch for the highest number to repeat multiple times (it will always fluctuate up and down, but the highest number will keep popping up) that's your max. It may take a few minutes to get to the top speed, but you'll know when the same number range keeps showing.
It's probably not 100% accurate, but it gives a good ballpark number. The stock LG charger/cable charges at ~1050mA. If the flat cables allow full speed charging, you should be able to match that.

Installed CurrentWidget and ran the tests - very sad to see these fosmon cables that I love so much are limiting my rate of charge.
I tested the Anker wall charger with both the 3ft and 6ft fosmon cables at work and got a max value of 480mA. At home I got a max value of 518mA
I tested the Anker car charger with both cables and was floating around 350mA
When I got home I compared (using the same outlet) the Anker wall charger versus a Blackberry Charger I have (which is the fastest charger I own) and found a distinct difference. As stated before the Anker wall charger with both lengths of fosmon cable maxed at 518mA. The blackberry charger maxed at 1589mA.
FWIW, here is the blackberry charger I used (no, the cable is not detachable from the wall adapter)

Sorry to hear about the cables, I was going to grab a few if your results were different. And sorry about making you sad bud... I guess you can see that it's not just a high amp adapter/charger that is important, but the USB cable has to support high charge rate as well.
Your Anker wall/car chargers are very good though, if you used different cables (or even the stock Nexus 5 cable), the charge rate would be faster.
I've heard of the Blackberry charger being very good, but to get it in Canada (amazon.com won't ship it here) I have to use amazon.ca and they charge $20+ for it... Which is so stupid considering Blackberry is a Canadian company located in Ontario... You'd think it'd be a bit cheaper in the motherland.
But it's not really necessary for me anyway, I'm making an attempt to have all of my chargers as Qi chargers. I have plenty of 2A adapters, I just wanted really good USB cables to make sure my Qi chargers are getting fully juiced so they can provide the full 1A output.

No worries - if anything I thank you for showing me how to test it. I had read a review on these fosmon cables saying they were fast current but never went so far as to test (because I thought I needed an ammeter to do it).
These cables still have their use, but I will be snagging a few of those ones linked on monoprice for my bedside, work and car chargers.
I am going to look more at fosmon too (maybe reach out with an email) and see if they offer or plan to offer a flat micro USB with more amperage.
Side note: which Qi charger are you using? Specifically using well with those cables from monoprice.

Best wired charger for nexus 5

Hi. Can you guys please tell me which charger you are saying. And which is the best charger for nexus 5 which takes less time to charge up the battery. I recently lost my stock charger and the other chargers I have are taking much longer time to charge the phone they are like 500mAh chargers so its taking long time. Can you guys pleas suggest me the charger.
Check another post in this sub forum. It has links to the BlackBerry playbook chargers, which are awesome and cheap.

I second this - bought a bunch of these chargers to use everywhere.
I'd go with the blackberry folding blade chargers.
There's a review thread someone did. Lots of people here have it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/accessories/hands-best-fastest-cheapest-nexus-5-t2729066
It's also so much cheaper than the HP touchpad charger. On amazon you can get anywhere from 4 - 8 chargers for the price of 1 HP.
Just use a USB cable with a MicroUSB port at one end. You always have a computer next to you.

OP was looking for something that can charge faster than 500mA which USB charging is limited to. At that speed it can take 4+ hours to charge the phone vs 2.5 hours with stock, and 2 hours with a 2.1A unit.
My GF got an LG G2 at roughly the same time I got my phone.
I've tried charging my phone with a wide variety of chargers, including the ipad 4 charger, as well as other 2.4A heavy duty chargers from other companies. I dont know why, but NOTHING is as fast as that stock G2 charger. It beats the "heavy duty" voltage stuff by a noticeable margin.
It does a proper quick charge on her G2, and while I've read that the nexus 5 doesnt really support that quick charge, it DEFINITELY does something.
It looks like this: http://www.lg.com/us/images/cell-phone-accessories/wcp-300/gallery/medium05.jpg
I am not sure if you will get the folding blade charger in India. You can buy the CP AD2 charger. One of my friend bought it and the Nexus 5 is charging at around 1300-1400 mAh. You will get it in Amazon for 550 rupees.
