Moved from a regular edge to the plus? Feedback requested! - Galaxy S6 Edge+ General

I just picked up a edge plus to replace my normal edge last night, both gold 64gb.
At first I was smitten with the giant screen but after less than 24 hours I'm starting to miss the smaller, easier to use one handed edge. The exact reason I wanted the plus was for the larger size, the edge was the smallest phone I have had in a bit but now I'm actually missing that form factor.
I still have both and will take the two weeks to decide, maybe going back and forth a bit.
Anyone else make the swap? What are your thoughts?

I made the swap from a regular edge to the plus and I love it. Way better battery life from what I've seen so far.
As far as the bigger screen being harder to navigate with one hand, try hitting the home button 3 times. This puts the phone into 'one-handed mode' which shrinks the screen down to a smaller size into the bottom right/left corner.

I have watched tons of reviews of the phone and nobody ever showed that, it does not work for me but maybe that's because I'm using the gel launcher.
I too have noticed better battey life but wanted to give it a few days before I know.
Edit** One handed mode had to be turned on, works great! Ty

SInce it's AMOLED. I'm not sure why I don't make the outside area all black to save battery when the phone is in 1 hand mode.

Good point! But I think I personally wouldn't have liked having most of my gorgeous screen off, like it's out of order or something (the way it looks on iPhone 6 plus), besides since one wouldn't use one-handed mode for long period of time, it wouldn't make a lot to difference on battery.

i made the swap and couldn't be happier. I debated over a week and then finally bit the bullet. from s6 edge 32GB to Plus 64gb. the Plus for me has better camera settings, it's smoother and more responsive, that extra 1 GB ram does help IMO. The increase in size does not bother me at all, a few days with it now and I forget how the regular edge feels.

I'm definitely happier making the switch and everything seems smoother and less lag.
Gold colour looks far better then the black sapphire.
Battery life is better and smoother.

Many people with the brightness bug in this s6 edge plus?

After a few weeks I'm now happy I made the switch.
The regular edge always felt too small, the plus is perfect and feels faster somehow. I have both side by side same apps, same firmware and the plus is faster.

I want to know is there many people with the brightness bug in this s6 edge plus?

I am. I tested many and many s6 edge plus in a lot of stores and they all nave this bug. I am starting to think samsung made this for some reason

I love this phone coming from a Note 3, no note 5 in Holland, I love it and can barely put it down for too long.
Only issue I have just like my Note 3 I have WiFi dropouts.

My thoughts on the Galaxy Nexus

Hello. Thought I'd add my thoughts into the mix, kind of a mini-review but not very well written and missing lots of things.
The hardware is awesome. The screen really is amazing, and in particular I like the way that it displays blacks so well. Because of this you usually can't see the edges of the screen and it looks fantastic, and coupled with the lack of hardware buttons the front of the phone is really sexy. The back on the other hand isn't as impressive, but it's ok. The "hyperskin" is more hyperbole, and doesn't really help you grip the phone much. Overall it's quite slippy really and I do feel I'll probably end up dropping it sooner or later.
The processor seems to handle everything fine and keep everything running smoothly. GPU I haven't really tested with any 3d games so can't comment on that. Battery life I've found much better than I expected, although I haven't done extensive testing on this. Here are the current battery stats, 18 1/2 hours with about 13% left:

I haven't really tried out the camera yet so can't comment on that. Call quality is good. Oh and size, I find it a bit awkward sometimes to pull the notification bar down or to hit the back button in the top left of the screen, ie. in the market app but overall I find the size to be good (I have quite small hands). The light weight and thinness kind of make up for the large size.
In terms of software it's as you'd probably expect - awesome. Face unlock doesn't work well in low-light which is kind of annoying. I'm not sure if I'll keep using it but I like it as on my old phone I only used swipe-to-unlock, so it's a bit more secure with this. I'm not exactly worried about someone taking a picture of me and then robbing me anyway.
The hardware acceleration makes a huge difference. The UI is nice and fluid and it's just really enjoyable to use. There is also an option to force hardware acceleration for apps as well which makes a big difference too. For example Twitter was a bit jerky and laggy before enabling it, yet with it on it's perfectly smooth and fluid. The News and Weather widget however doesn't seem to be accelerated; it's really jerky and slow.
Auto-brightness is something that needs tweaking I think. It's often too low (to save battery no doubt), and needs to be raised a little. On top of that sometimes it doesn't even seem to work properly. Earlier on I was looking at it and thinking how it's too dark and then it suddenly jumped up to a decent level of brightness, even with no change in the ambient lighting. I've seen this a few times so I think maybe it's a bug which needs to be ironed out.
The people app is really brilliant, and the G+ integration is really great (if only more of my friends used it..). The swiping thing they've got going on now in various apps is really good and hopefully we'll see more of it in the future. The dialler app is nice, but I am disappointed that you still can't start typing the letters of your friend's name to bring them up like you can on HTC phones.
That's everything I can think of for now, but overall I love the Galaxy Nexus

S4 vs. Note 2 thoughts - Finale

This will be based off the Snap 600 Variant of the S4, Exynos should be the same or perform better.
There are lots of us, who have considered hopping. Many have & many have regretted it while some of us do enjoy the change. Lets ignore the spec battle for a few.
GS4 Pros:
* Easier to Handle
*IR Blaster
*Faster SOC
*Better Camera
*Better LT Support - Due to i9505 roms being compatible with S600 Variants of the device it seems to all be the same until kernel & modem. it means wider support
GS4 Cons:
*Still Laggy on custom Roms/Touchwiz bases
* AOSP would make you lose the features that makes S4 worth it
* 20-30% less battery life then GN2.
GN2 Pros:
*Great battery
*Bigger screen
*Spen features
*more support as of now
GN2 Cons:
* Sometimes can be battle to hold
* PPI
Both devices share a outdoor usage crutch, even on full brightness both are a pain sometimes if in direct sunlight.
Size:
The GN2 Has some more side bezel & is obviously slightly larger due to its .5inch larger display. The S4 takes a more curved approach to the edges which I think looks neater. The S4 Body also feels tighter then the GN2.

}
Bezels:
The S4 to me personally has the nicer body. Coming from the N2 you will feel at home with button placement, something some find awkward since they aren't used to it.
Camera:
13MP sounds may fancier then 8MP for sure, especially when the sensor is obviously larger on the S4 which makes the GN2s look dwarfed. But realtime shots?
GN2:
Downfall of GN2s slower shutter speed:
GS4:
Macro Quality:
Battery Life:
Depending on Kernel, Rom & usage Average Screen-time for the GS4 is 2.5- 5.5 Hours. GN2 Is way above this going for 7-9 Hours screen-ontime. You will lose battery an average of 20% faster. idle that left my GN2 at 92% after work put my GS4 at 72% with airplane mode, I had a day I left it alone at 71% and after work with no use my GS4 was 19% battery. I was able to juice that 19% for 1 hour and 40 minutes of use with kik after underclocking to 500mhz... else I would have been stranded with no ride.
Thoughts:
If you just bought a N2, I would stick with it unless your under remorse and think its too big. The S4 is an amazing device but you trade off battery life for an IR blaster, slightly better camera...and no Spen. If you want to switch because "Better specs" is all you see, dont. Touchwiz is lagging the S4 & Even custom roms slightly resolve the issue. Exynos 4 may not perform better in benchmarks but real time is were it currently outshines. The GN2 opens everything faster in tests I conducted even if by fractions of a second.
Another thing you will lose is the note taking abilities of the note & drawing capabilities. Using a Wacom stylus is 100x better then your finger.
There is no way to really say which is better. They are two different beasts and in the end you just have to follow your gut on whats more important within their feature sets. Both devices values WILL degrade the S4 will eventually be cheaply contracted & the NOTE2 will be replaced by the N3 without its contract price really dropping much (299/149 STILL!) so there's no reason to factor pricing anymore as choice, rather features at this point.
Both devices have amazing Rom support, if you are ok with battery life sacrifice for a newer feature set and something that is pocketable, Go GS4. If you want a device that will let your creative juices flow, or something to show off your note taking prowess & also is great as both a phone and tablet replacement and need something that you dont have to worry about battery life, go Note 2 if you are a extreme power user.
Either way you wont be disappointed.
~ Happy GN2 to GS4 user
**
If you think I should add more to this, feel free to point out what I missed/can add.
Pros:
Gn2 has by far the most superior battery life ever .
Not to laggy,
Loud speakers
Cons :
Spen was useless to me .
To big to hold by the end of the day.
Really it was made for size , but in the end I believe size was its only downfall as a phone it made a better tablet.
Im sure some didn't mind but I think we all know it grew to become uncomfortable as a phone to carry.
I still owned it 3 times over lol

[Q] About those viewing angles...

Hi to all
I'm pretty new to the tablet market and I just bought the note 10.1 2014. I'm in my first 14 days where I can exchange/return my tablet and I want to make sure everything is ok with my stuff.
I've read countless online reviews before making my choice and, as you all know, one of the strongest aspect of the note 10.1 2014 is the display. Most if not everybody is praising the resolution, the colors, minimal color shifting, brightness and the viewing angles. Now, I want to make sure my understanding of lcd displays/viewing angles is good.
My tablet's display is gorgeous... when I look at it straight at it. I have the minimal light bleed on the edge which only shows on black and has 0 impact on colors which I'm ok with (all demos in stores are the same so...) As soon as I tilt the tablet though (vertically or horizontally), colors become very dull. Actually, colors do not shift but everything becomes dimmer/duller. Now, I suspect this is normal behavior from a backlit LCD but still, I keep reading reviews stating the display is gorgeous and bright even from an angle which is not 100% right for mine. I've tried to look at videos/pictures online but most people doing reviews actually setup a camera right in front of the tablet and barely move it once it's turned on so it's not helping me. So when you guys are saying the tablet's display stays vivid and colorful from every angle, are you getting the same kind of behavior my tablet has and are not talking about this because this is normal behavior for an LCD display or is my tablet's display defective?
Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation. If needed, I could take pictures.

As is typical of the Samsung displays, the viewing angle stability is great. The colors remain stable regardless of the viewing angle and we did not note any great loss in brightness.

Thank you very much for your reply. Well, I guess my tablet's screen is pretty similar to the test unit provided in the review. My definition of stable brightness and colors is pretty different from the behavior of that display But to know my screen behaves normally compared to other tablets is good to know.
Just enjoy this tablet..Don't spend hours looking for problems that arent there. This tablet is wonderful , I have had mine since December with no issues at all. I'm rooted with tons of stuff on mine. Most of the problems I have been reading about are people with way too much time on their hands. Have a beer , and love your tablet!!

Don't get me wrong here, maybe I did put too much emphasis on the display and I'm sorry about this. I love my tablet too. I'm just discovering the power of the tablet and the S-Pen, the integration is pretty amazing.
Cheers

T-Mobile LG G3 vs. T-Mobile HTC One M8

Hey guys i'm having trouble deciding between the G3 and the M8. I'm looking to get a new phone but i really can't decide between the two! I have heard good and bad things about the G3's display (too dim and extremely sharp effect). I would like to know what you guys think about the two phones and why you might think one phone is better than the other.
Thanks!
I have absolutely no issue with the phone being too dim. I use auto in and outdoors with no problem.
The text has a sharp effect on grey pages I think. You can notice it but it's not as bad as some people make it seem.
I didn't consider the M8 at all. My debate was between the S5 and G3. The m8 looks nice but aluminum scratches fairly easy, it's quick heavy(I wouldn't want that in my gym shorts), average at best camera. I just wasn't feeling the M8. Its big plus are gesture feats, speakers, and battery life from what I've heard.
I love my G3. No phone can compare to its aesthetics, fantastic camera, double tap to wake and lock works flawlessly, the keyboard is actually really good, the display, the battery easily gets me through a day, I love the animations, lots of customization options out of the box.
In before the lock

Thank you so much for your response!
Have you had any overheating issues? what do you usually leave the brightness out? Around how much screen on time do you get?

The phone does get warm after extensive use....just like ANY other phone would. I had your concerns too cause some xda members make it seem like the phone becomes boiling lava after a YouTube video but that's not the case.
I use auto brightness. Works great for me. My latest battery stats

I have both phones. So far I am liking the g3 a bit more, like having a notification light. The kinda feels like a bigger version of my nexus 5 with a micro sd and a removable battery. The m8 is nice but it has to a case on it or it is way to slippery.

Should have kept my note 4

After having this phone sense it came out ...battery life is some what OK not any thing like the note 4 ......... WiFi keeps damn disconnecting .......memory issues sucks butt everything reloads ....no SD card ......and not but least there's no rom development for this piece of crap phone...I will be looking to trade or sell this phone

Sorry Pancho but he's not crazy. For some it doest bother them, other it's does. Honestly your telling everyone your getting a wonderful battery life, no memory leak issues where your phone is not responsive, and lastly wifi issues? Also the development in this phone is just not slow but terrible. The sprint variant for one is doing better then here. It's sad.
i regret i sold my NoteEdge.
galaxy s6 edge is waste a money, the edge screen doesnt do anything! the edge screen only turn on when main screen is off !
on NoteEdge, i can surf web, playing game, watching video and still able to check my live stock quote on the edge screen at the same time !
I gave my Note 4 to the wifey. She loves it and I don't regret it at all. I picked up her phone yesterday and was damn this phone is huge. lol I prefer a smaller phone for the summer time.
That's a preference. You prefer a Galaxy S series. But when I compare the note 4 Vs the s6 edge and I have a 64 GB edition, I can say that I miss my note 4. The performance even with stock tw was better then this device the s6 edge.

Disable the junk apps, that's the big drawback with Samsung and t mobile, they cram all that crap into your phone, in the process slowing it down.
BTW, I have 4 pages of disabled apps.

After I debloated using disable, everything was as I wanted/expected. They're all different phones. Yes, there might be better for you, but if you were insanely happy why would you switch. I held onto my S4 forever. I switched to the Edge because it really delighted me in person. I weighed what I was giving up and have since not really missed those features. Memory leak was harder for me on 5.0.2. I get it much less often than before. Battery like has been about the same as on the S4 but I actually use this phone more often. I don't know why people think the newest phones will fix the few ills of a phone that actually made them happy.
I also came from the S4 running root on a stock rom and it was fabulous.
Didn't even consider the S5 because it wasn't that much more than the S4.
My S6 edge is superior over the previous models.
