Please help!!! My G4 H815 hard bricked without any custom software or rooting - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The decive is only recognized as qhsusb_bulk. And I never messed around with any custom roms or rooting. The power went off suddenly and couldn't turn it back on. Please help!!!!

If you were not doing any sort of modification, it sounds like a hardware failure. Get a warranty replacement if you can.

Not clear what you mean here ?
- the battery ran out
- something was updating when the battery ran out

Nope the battery didn't run out. It was about 80% left. And above of all, I was in the meeting at that morning and i put down the phone in silent. After that, i couldn't be able to double tap anymore then I tried power button at the back. I even try plugging the charger in and pressed the power button. Tried to factory reset it. And tried using different adapter and cable. The led light didn't even turn on. But when i plugged in to my laptop, i hear the noti sound and it shows qshusb_bulk in the device manager. I think it's on qualcomm mode. I saw some posts about unbricking g3 which is on qualcomm mode but no luck for G4.

It must be hardware failure but I don't have warranty. See the thing is I'm in Myanmar. The authorized distributor only sells dual sims model. But i never planned to use dual sims ones. So i tried to get the single sim version from singapore and the warranty from that country doesn't really seem to be able help.

That error means the bootloader is corrupted. No way to fix it currently without the right software and LG proprietary firmware. Not available anywhere I looked for the G4 (for the lay person at least). Since you weren't tinkering with it, could also mean the memory is bad.

Call LG.

Ask on lgviet.com there are guys that can repair a dead boot. One even wrote here I dunno if it was Manhit or else. They are in Vietnam, not too distant for you maybe
Edit it's @vn_mobile

I had one do the same thing. Warrantied it.

Contact the seller and ask if they can help. it would mean you send it to them, they sent it over to the service center and when its fixed return it back to you. you will be spending for postage. there is a warranty but its in singapore.
unless you can figure out a way to repair it locally.

that's the other thing, how often have you found memory to go bad.

Agree, quite rare, but it does happen. On my original Galaxy Nexus, the CPU just crapped out and died one day. That was the repair facility's assessment.
Flash memory specifically, not so much.

HTC Desire HD cannot turn on

My 6 months old HTC Desire HD suddently died yesterday. I tried every way to turn it on, it just does not work:
1. Recharge the battery for the whole night and it is not turned on. The recharging light is not on when it is recharged.
2. Try with a backup battery. I still does not turn on
3. Try to hard reset, still does not turn on.
The worst thing is that my phone was bought in South Korea, and I am currently in the US. Called HTC US customer service center, they just does want to help. The funny thing is one of its staffs spent 20 minutes trying to find a phone number for me but could not find it.
Does anybody know what the problem could be? Is it a hardware failure?
BTW, I will not buy ANY HTC product for its bad warranty and customer service.

So you can't boot to bootloader? Hold vol down and power it.
Even though you bought it from S Korea, you should be able to get it to warranty repair with your phones IMEI code only. You could also try contacting the store you bought the phone from if possible.
No, even I tried the hard reset at you mentioned, it didn't work.
Also, I have called HTC US customer service for few times. As I said Htc's customer service is so terrible. They just don't care about you at all. They let you to get it repaired where you buy it. But the problem is that I will stay in the US for few months so I don't have a chance to use the phone any more.
Maybe I will switch to iPhone on 10/4...
Thanks for your reply and the information.

You should e-mail the HTC customer support one more time. It's often better to email them so they can look into the problem better, without the need to talk on phone at the same time.
The mail could also be forwarded to a technical department. Instead of the mostly useless people on so called "front line" of the phone customer service.
I don't mean to insult anyone personally. Big companies just do hire almost anyone to "first wave" and all the people who are really experts on phones are on so-called "second wave" where to the problems are sometimes forwarded.
Thanks for your tips. I am going to send the e-mail right now.

No useful information from your first post ? What happens when you turn on the phone ? White screen ? Can you go to bootloader mode ?
In my opinion two things are possible - the ROM memory is very badly damaged (hardware issue) and have to pay to repair it . The second - the ROM/Build is broken and have to preinstall it. Unfortunatelly I don't know is it possible only by cable. If the case was for the good old HD2 it's easy, but no easy way for DesireHD.
So, go to a service, pay to someone to flash the phone (in a special box). In Bulgaria that will cost you 20 euro (about 30$), but it USA - no idea.
P.S. I mean unofficial customer service. In official HTC service will take you much money and you may have a problems. Don't worry - in the official service can't realize, that the phone is flashed in unofficial way.
No, when the phone is turned on, there is just nothing shown on the screen. It is like a brick. That is really wired.

If the answer is to bring the phone to Korea for servicing, send it via mail to a friend of you. It will cost you much lower, than paing in USA.

Try connecting the phone to the computer via USB. If it enumerates under QHUSB_DLOAD then you either need JTAG or motherboard replacement.

The HBOOT on our phone is damaged or it had an incorrect installation of it, so that the phone is bricked.
The solution for this problem is, that you can send your phone to mobiletechvideos (just google it) and they have the necessary components and software, which can repair your phone. But it will cost you some dollars, but at least it isn't so expensive so that you can live with it, so I think.

Ok, chill. didn't you read this?: DO NOT USE THIS IF YOUR PHONE CAME WITH GINGERBREAD
So you messed the bootloader. There is no jtag for HTC devices. Hboot fix is not easy nor fast. Pull the battery and put it back. Keep pressing power + volumen down until you get to the white splash screen. That might take a while, but you will eventually get to hboot. If you manage to get to hboot just let me know and i will lend you a hand.

It just do only some little actions like:
-When I put the cable into the phone, the led is orange
-When I try to do a hard reset it just vibrates 5 times and the led is green
That is all my phone is doing

[Q] Galaxy Nexus is bricked. Any ideas?

Hi,
About 1,5 months ago I received my first Android phone, a Galaxy Nexus.
I have unlocked the bootloader, rooted it en eventually installed Clockwork Mod Recovery following guides on this excellent forum! Everything went perfectly and it ran very smoothly in that state for about half a month up until yesterday.
I didn't have any custom roms installed, so I received the notification for the Android 4.0.2 update, it failed because of Clockwork Mod which I later found out. So I set about to manually install it, I downloaded the image from the google site and placed it in my home directory on my Phone, when I then wanted to restart to start in recovery mode it didn't do anything.
I tried getting the battery out and in, sim card out and in, recharging it,...
It does nothing, not even a small vibration signaling the phone is trying to start.
Anyone has any ideas to fix it, or might it be possible to send it back to the shop ( even though it is rooted etc. ?)
Thanks in advance,
Exatto
You need to get the stock images and flash using Odin or the ADB/Fastboot method. After which the phone will return to stock. Then you can root and do what you like. Lots of guieds on here on how to do it. Good luck.
---------- Post added at 05:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------
By the way if you send back a rooted phone they will tell you to take a jump. Rooting voids the warranty.
No response at all? A real brick?

Can you get into download mode? If you can you can use any of the methods above to sort it.
I don't think there is a real brick. There are restore images. Extremely hard to brick a nexus...borderline impossible.
Yeah I have never heard of a "real" bricked Nexus.

No, that's the point. I can't get in any modes. It does't react at all. I think it might be a hardware fault, a friend suggested it might be due to a short circuit battery.
I just followed this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419170) to update, using method 1, having clockwork mod installed. And when I shut it down to restart in recovery mode it suddenly stopped reacting. I have had this before, but then taking the battery in and out fixed everything. Now it doesn't anymore.
Cool, well if removing the battery for a few minutes doesnt sort it then you should be able to return it because the carrier won't be able to tell if it is rooted if they can't turn it on.
When you charge it do you get the charging battery icon when you press the power button?

No, not a charging sign. I hope I can return it, but what if the battery is faulty and they just pop a new one in and then see that it is rooted?
Thanks for the help.
Could well be a dead battery dude, if you have a mate with a Nexus you could try yourself first. I know what you mean about the guy in the shop seeing the unlocked bootloader if he tried a different battery but you may be lucky in that he might not know what it is or you could just grab the phone and leg it ha ha
I hope it gets sorted and be sure to post here what happens. Take it easy.

As promised the followup:
Luckily they didn't notice my GN was rooted etc. as today I received a brand new one after I sent the broken one in to an official Samsung repair center
I did test some things before I sent it in though, a friend just bought a new one and we tested if my battery worked in his phone (it didn't) and we tested his working battery in my phone (it didn't work either), so something was definitely very screwed up.
Haven't got any idea of what went wrong eventually as the repair service didn't offer any details, although I am off course glad I got a brand new one.

[Q] Hard bricked, but...

Hi there, I hard bricked my Tab S 8.4. No reaction to anything I did (key combinations, let it charge for hours, stuff like that). Don't know how it happened but it just crashed to death shortly after installing an inofficial Lolloipop build from here. I don't think a ROM can make a device not turn on at all. My money is on hardware failure.
Anyway, brought it in for repairs (willing to pay since I knowingly voided the warranty). Got the call yesterday. They said the software had been tampered with and they can't repair it. I objected that the software won't break the hardware but no dice. They won't even do it for cold hard cash.
BUT: To see the 'illegal' software they HAD to get the thing to turn on . And if they got it to turn on somehow, so can I. Or... am I completely wrong there and they have some magic fairy dust?
Any ideas on how I could accomplish what the repair guys could obviously do? There is no important data or anything on it so I'd be happy with Odin mode, CWM or whatever.

I kindof had the same problem, but got mine repaired.
May I ask where you send it to for repairs? Was it Samsung or a local repair shop that told you they could not fix it?
And did they send it back to you? Kindof weird they won't fix your device after you say you are willing to pay for it.
Depending on where you live, Samsung covers a lot of 'problems' in the first year of the standaard warranty.
As for turning on the device..
What options have you tried yet?
If you connect the tablet with usb to your pc and turn it on, does it get recognized?
And if so, as what?
But if your screen doesn't turn on, you're probably going to need repairs anyway.

Over here you bring it back to the shop where you bought it. They will try the simplest solutions in house but usually send it back to the manufacturer. I think the information came from Samsung directly. Another theory I have is a simple lie. They tried it in house, nothing came up, some clever guy screamed 'CYANOGEN!' and they all high fived (I have a vivid imagination )
As for turning it on: tried everything. It's not only the screen, it did nothing at all. No signs of life whatsoever. Of course the PC wouldn't recognize it since it was turned off.
I'll pick it up tonight. Maybe whatever they did to see the software tampering stuck and it will at least go into Odin mode. I can work from there.

It simply reset itself after the battery completely died. Black screen and no response doesn't mean the device is off.
As soon as they switched it on they would have seen knox had been tripped.
Sort of did you a favour by telling you it wasn't bricked.

I am unable to boot, therefore unable to go into recovery or bootloader to flash anything at all.
please advice!
Have you tried turning it on while connected to the charger after an hour or so?
You may need to return it, is it still under warranty?
What did you do?
Did you root? Custom roms? Battery dead? Flashed wrong image?
Just got mine back from LG for this same BS after only 2months new. They wiped everything and said it was faulty screen cable/ribbon. Came back with no screen protector so I guess the replaced the screen as well. Warranty it. There's nothing you can do. I tried every fix, combo, cables.

after meddling with power buttons, it'll randomly register and unregister in my PC

Thanks for following up!
I've contacted my seller on ebay and he is checking with LG for me!
I tried those methods and they also don't work, mostly because of compatibility issues.
It's a real vexing situation for me.

I've been calling LG to and i must go to LG to check the phone , it's far from my home .
yeah i know , it's very vexing me to . i have nexus 5 it's been 1 year without any problem .
Where I live there's no support for the 5x yet. So I send it with a friend to USA and contacted LG to send it as RMA. They say they fixed it.. replacing some board.. I don't know, I still didn't get it back. hahaha.
LG is your friend =)

Semi-Dead Phone

Yesterday, my groupmates and I were presenting this VR application to our panelists. Somehow in the middle of the demo, my phone rebooted and it took a while before it actually opened. After it opened though, a few seconds or about a minute later it will reboot again and this happened a few times so I decided to turn it off. Later, when I decided to turn it on again it won't let me past the LG logo and it just keeps on bootlooping so I decided to turn it off by removing the battery and let it stay off for a while. Again when I decided to check on it, the phone won't even turn on even after holding the power button for a few seconds and trying to remove battery and place it back. I decided to check on it later again and it would boot but only until the LG logo again and this time it stays there for a few seconds and then it goes black and this just keeps on happening every time I try opening it. I even tried to do a hard reset (reset to factory settings) but only the same thing happens, the phone freezes at the "Yes" option when doing the factory reset and it goes to black after a few seconds. I even tried flashing a firmware but it won't let me do it because the same thing happens (reboots into LG logo, freezes and then turns black).
What could have happened? Is there anyway to fix this? :/
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: My phone (H815) is running MM, not rooted,

Unfortunately you are also in bootloop effected G4 club now. If it is in warranty, claim it as its board will be replaced, it is hardware failure. What is Serial Number of your G4?

Damn :/ I bought mine from an online store not directly related to LG but they have a 1 year service warranty though so I'll try that.
How do I know the serial number?

Your S/N is on the phone behind the battery. They will also need your IMEI number.
So you, just like hundreds here, and I am pretty sure it's thousands globally have got bootloop issue so there is no need to create new thread as that is not going to fix your issue as you are in the same boat just like all of us with probably your serial number starting with 505xxx.

Oh well, unlucky... I don't remember seeing any 511 developing bootloop which might be concern for others since I believe that from November 2015 they fixed the bootloop issue with hardware revision 1.1. You can add it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/longest-running-bootloop-g4-t3386329 so that others are aware that 511 can also develop bootloop

I'm sure you'll find all the answers going through threads on LG G4 bootloop issue. Seems like the pins on the qualcomm chip get somehow loose or unstuck from the motherboard overtime (usually the 2 big cores) that why the phone is unable to boot when that happens. That's why disabling the big cores helps to boot the phone using only 4 small cores.

Problem is I bought the phone from an online retailer and all they have is labor warranty. I've also tried e-mailing LG here in the Philippines but I haven't received a reply yet and it's been almost a week.
Can removing the 2 big cores (hardware, is it even possible?) by a guy who can repair it, fix the phone?

That is not correct. 12 month warranty is provided by LG for the device so he can go ahead and get in touch with LG. As long as he's got proof of purchase that's all they ask.
