2 SGS3s-1 Great LTE other NO LTE show different HW Ver in settings - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey all, I have two S3's (ATT i747). One has been on TMS3KK for a few months and running great. I flashed the other recently and it runs super smooth but it has poor/no LTE signal connection. I mean sitting side by side one has 4gLTE icon up and the other is on Edge(E). The only difference I can see is that the one with good LTE signal shows Hardware Version REV0.4 in Settings>About Phone. The one with the poor reception shows i747.00 hardware version.
I pulled the battery on the poor signal device and found under the battery that the hardware version there is listed as REV0.4 even though it shows the other in the settings menu. I ran *#2222# on both and it shows REV0.4 for both. I also see that the RF Cal is showing none. These two devices seem to be identical in every way but I can't get the signal on the one.
Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this? The other one has fantastic high speed connection everywhere.
Thanks for any advice.

What does Settings -> About -> Baseband version say? Are they on the same modem?

The baseband is the same, both on NJ1. I used a phone info app and saw where the bad signal one is showing unknown on the CSC Product Code. The low signal phone was purchased already unlocked and rooted. The good one I rooted and unlocked.

Any thoughts on this link?

Is anyone else having signal issues? Possible baseband update?

I recently purchased a samsung captivate glide and I have noticed very spotty coverage and dropped cell connections. Whenever I am indoors I cannot get a signal. The cell reception is very sensitive and constantly shows no connection. I was unsure if anyone else was having this problem?
I found another thread that had a loose sim card issue and attempted the fix but this did not work. I've also tried my sim in another phone in which i had no problem with cell reception. I've relashed the ROM and Kernal multiple times, rooted, unrooted, nothing seems to fix my reception issue... I was not sure i there was a baseband update or I just have faulty hardware. I'm eager to get this phone working at full capacity. How can I get it working properly?
Pertinent Info:
Android Version 2.3.5
Basband Version I927UCKI3
Kernal Version 2.6.36.3
Build Number GINGERBREAD.UCKI3
Carrier AT&T
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like status quo for AT&T
On a serious note; I am not having any such issues here in southern Louisiana where I usually don't get anything but Extended; rarely ever see 3G.
Been looking around for more information. I'm going to try and get a new sim and see what happens. Looks like i'm stuck for the time being :/

Try pulling the battery cover and see if your SIM card is loose? I've advised for a couple different folks having signal issues the same thing, nobody else seems to have the same problem I did - using a smartphone SIM, it looked like the metal cage for the SIM card was a millimeter too large in width and height, I used some strong clear tape to hold the SIM in place and havent had any issues since...
HTH!

//Edit - I need to read the _ENTIRE_ post before replying - sorry, I'm fresh out of ideas if the loose SIM card wasn't the problem :\ -tidE\\
Ok I take no credit for this, but felt bad about the useless post above, crawled a couple more posts this morning, and it looks like mariol66 may have found another solution -

Reduced Signal Quality after update to CM11 M8?

Hiya, I'm running the most recent version of CM11 (Snapshot M8), and I've noticed a pretty dramatic drop in signal strength. Places where I originally had LTE, I only have HSPA+. In places where I only had HSPA+, I'm down to 3g. I've already checked my settings menu to ensure that the preferred band is LTE, and I've already ensured that I'm connected to the ATT LTE APN. My baseband is UCDLK3 and ... I don't *think* there was any change made to the modem in the update. I'd really like to avoid going back to M7 due to how wildly unstable it was, but at the very least, it didn't have this garbage signal problem.
Any users experiencing similar issues? Perhaps those who have fixed it?
I'd ask in Original Android Development in the CM11 thread if I could, but the new user rule prevents me from doing that. Grumble, grumble. I already used the search function to find similar issues and turned up nothing, probably due to how recently this Snapshot was released.
Thanks!

[Q] Really Weird Antenna Problem?

I have a Bell Galaxy S3 I9300M, running a combination of CM11 + KT747 kernel, and I've run into a pretty weird problem as of recently..
While my phone picks up pretty decent signal, usually about 4-5 bars, I can't do outgoing/incoming calls, or use data (3g, or 4g) at all. I'll get the odd time throughout the day where it'll work for about 5-10 minutes, but then disconnect completely, all while holding 4-5 bars of reception.
The Wifi seems to always work without any problems.
I've checked my APN settings, and their all good. I've tried flashing to older versions of CM, and newer, tried different kernels, did a full wipe, but nothing has worked.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?
TL;DR: Near full signal, but still no data/texts/phone calls. What do.
First, to be clear, what model is your device? Im assuming I747M, but theres no i9300M that ive ever heard of.
If it is an i9300 or variant of that, you should probably be posting in its forums. (The i9300 is a very different device than the Qualcomm model S3's)
Have you checked your baseband and IMEI in Settings? Make sure the IMEI matches the sticker under the battery, EXACTLY. If it does, also check to make sure its not blacklisted.

Yeah, that would be the I747M, under Bell.
Double checked my IMEI. It matches, and it's not blacklisted.
Call your carrier and ask if there are any issues with your account and if they have any reported tower problems in your area.

Problem with IMEI and signal

Hello I bought an used ATT Note4 unlocked and I use it with TMobile. I have two problems maybe related. I have very low signal and the phone dont connect in my home and my previous phones didnt have that problem. In works in other places but you know it disconnects inside buildings and low signal areas. I was thinking in flash a TMobile modem and I think its not possible. The other problem is the IMEi that shows in settings is not the same as the sticker behind the battery so something has be done to the phone. Its possible to fix the IMEI to the real one?
Thanks a lot.
It might be a fake, install cpu z and compare the hardware results to a real one

After October Update - No LTE

Hey guys, just did the October update this morning and now I can't get LTE. Icon just shows 4G. I've tried several restarts and cycling airplane mode and mobile data to no avail. Anyone else experiencing this?
October release? What's the build number? I don't see an October update anywhere.
Are you mistaking the hot fix for the October update? The October update won't be until next week.. it's always the first Monday of every month.

I am on AT&T. Version # is QP1A.190711.020.C3. It probably was the Hotfix.

There are quite a few people talking about it. I just don't know if there's a fix or not. I'm on T-mobile

There is. My Gf received the OTA yesterday.. I did as well. We are with T-Mobile. However, my bootloader is unlocked and I'm rooted so I ignored it. The security update will be next week, so I figured I'll wait to apply any updates.
4G and LTE are the same thing. Do a speedtest to check if you find the same speeds, but it's very likely just some regional assets not correctly fetched by the OS. The only reason why some builds show LTE in some countries is because of some very bad advertising from some providers (in the US for example some of them did that) where they called "4G" what should have been known as 3G+ (even though it was the same base protocol as 3G).
I'm seeing the same issue. Ran speed test and it's only hitting 10-12 Mbps. I'm also on AT&T. This happened after I updated today.
Flashed over with .020 and still having issues. No luck on the LTE.
I downgraded to .019 and was able to get LTE back. It automatically updated to .020 and I lost LTE again.
I had to downgrade back to .019 to get LTE back again. I turned off automatic updates in developer mode for now until the issue is gone.

Okay I figured out the issue. Hopefully this helps everyone here.
There are two updates from September, .019 & .020.
.019 is for all other Pixels.
.020 is for Verizon Pixels.
When the update for .020 was automatically applied to our phones, this is what broke LTE.
I didn't try updating from .3C to .019 to see if this would fix it. Maybe someone can try and report back.
What I did was just clean flash the .019 on my phone. Once Pixel applied the additional small update for Oct. I still have LTE.
Basically, we all on AT&T flashed the wrong firmware.
Good luck!

I have a Pixel 3 on AT&T. After the last hot fix I noticed that my LTE notification changed to 4G. I prefer the LTE icon as it is more informative that "4G" which has little meaning anymore. I ran a network signal info app and I am on actual AT&T LTE and my speedtest is 118 Mbps up, 6.7 down with 19ms ping. So am pretty confident that I am actually on LTE just that the icon changed. Based on your post I looked at my build number and it lists QP1A.190711.020.C3. So I guess I have the .020 that you reference.
Are you sure you did not have LTE and it was not just an icon issue? I don't really feel like flashing different firmware so might just live with the 4G thing unless the "wrong firmware" will cause some actual performance issues...

Same here. I have good speeds, just trying to figure out why the icon changed after the flash. Since the firmware was pushed to my phone does that mean Google is pushing the wrong firmware? I know this is not a regional issue because I flew around the whole US over the last two days with no change. I also reset my network settings with no change.
4G = LTE on AT&T.
If you are ever in doubt, do: *#*#4636#*#* from the dialer and select phone information.

I agree but I have always been on AT&T and through every Nexus and Pixel my notification bar always read LTE not 4G. My wife's P3 is on Google Fi with the latest update and it still reads LTE. I will check what hot fix build she got tonight. So why would my phone (and others here) read/indicate 4G now?
As I said, probably just an asset being fetched inconsistently. I know for a fact in other parts of the world it never says LTE but just 4G (because less bad communication around it here), so the system pulling one or the other is just up to how it associates the connected network to a region that says LTE or one that says 4G. My best guess would be that AT&T was misplaced in the last update for some reason that I can't imagine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I lost my LTE this morning.
Had to "disable" the Google eSIM.
Then re-enabled it and LTE came back.
Lost it again after a reboot.
Repeated the above steps and it's been solid since.

I had full bars with 4G on .020.3C and was only getting 10-15Mbps. It wasn't just an icon change then. It could also be the spot that I was in.
Anyone else having normal LTE speeds, but only have the 4G icon?

Thats for AT&T and/or Google to answer.
The bottom line is, regardless of what the indicator shows, use the dialer code and you will find out exactly what data network type you are on.
I have a Pixel 3XL and had the same issue. I did a factory reset yesterday and my LTE was good again
