How to encrypt all files in the SD Card (phone said new files will be encrypted)? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have Android 5.0.1 installed on my HTC One M8. I enabled encryption in the SD Card but the phone said "only new files will be encrypted".
I want to encrypt my old files too, do you know how can I achieve it?
Thanks

[Q] Is mSD Encryption possible?

I have the c2004 with CM11(12/3/14 version) and no custom kernel(3.4.0-CM+), I've encrypted the phone and I was certain that the mSD would be encrypted too, but it was not, I've googled how to do so, and there was a guide saying that in security there would be an option to encrypt the SD card, but it isn't there, then I came to xda where I found everything that I needed to put CM in my phone(Thanks!) but I didn't found it either, so, if there is a way to encrypt the mSD could you please tell me or show me a topic where it is explained?

Android (HTC M8) has "forgotten" my SD Card is encrypted. Help!

Hi there,
Having a bit of a stressful problem. My HTC m8 (Marshmallow) is encrypted, as well as the external SD card. All my photos are on the SD card. I have lots backed up but I'm having a great trip to NYC that didn't backup to google because I was roaming (it seems). Anyway, today my phone crashed (I think the battery is failing, it turned off instantly at 14%). When it turned on, all my photos are showing a gray icon (like they are corrupted). I cannot imagine how every single photo (of thousands) in multiple folders has corrupted.
Now, I noticed that when I go into Storage options the "Encrypt SD Card" box is UNTICKED. Implying the phone has forgotten the card is encrypted and thus cannot read the images. Though I thought it was weird that it can read the directories at all, implying its doing a file by file encryption rather than a full card encryption.
Anyway, obviously I know my PIN number that I need to decrypt the phone at boot up, is there any tool I can use to decrypt the images using this PIN? My fear is that (upon some research) that this is "encFS" encryption, which uses an encfs6.xml file to read the data and consequently the crash has deleted/corrupted this file. If so, this seems like a very delicate encryption mechanism.
Something else, when the phone started up again, it had reset a few other things. My default keyboard was no longer SwiftKey, I'm getting Android "tips" for scrolling etc. Also, I used to have a DND (Do Not Disturb) button in my pull down menu which is gone. Is it possible a carrier update occurred and wiped the encryption key file? Or the crash reset it and other default settings? Does Android by default use encFS to encrypt SD Cards? If this is encFS, is it a file I should be able to find on the internal storage called "encfs6.xml"? I did it as so (months ago, without issue until today... on holiday sigh)
Settings -> Storage -> SD Card (SanDisk) -> Encrypt SD card content.
As mentioned, it's currently unticked
Anyway, please, anyone, help me get my photos back
Many Thanks, WA

Using 'Adopted Storage' can I install Custom ROM?

Is it possible to install a custom rom on my HTC 10 (bootloader unlocked, rooted) and keep the adopted storage option?
There are a distinct lack of options in TWRP when searching for zip files... I'm not sure what folder it actually shows, but in choice of location options I am given External SD (0Mb) and USB OTG (0Mb).
I couldn't get Xposed installed coz it wouldn't find the .zip file, until I took out the SD card and replaced it with one that wasn't previously used as adoptive storage. That had the .zip on, and it worked fine... I then replaced the original SD card and all seems OK, but I'm not sure this would work with a Custom ROM?
Any help/suggestions?
Cheers

Yes. When you boot into a freshly-installed ROM (and assuming you've wiped everything, as you should have), you'll have the option to set up adopted storage with your SD card, just as you did when you initially put it into your device.
This also assumes whatever ROM you install hasn't disabled adopted storage, but I can't think of any offhand that do.

Was going to try this at the weekend.......in theory it becomes 1 massive internal storage, but if twrp is only giving you option for external SD or USB it sounds like it doesn't support this new feature yet. I'm going to try it this weekend I'll post here if it works for me or not

Thanks, that sounds helpful. The only problem I have with that is getting the phone to find/read the ROMs .zip file. I'm clicking cancel on the first 'de-encrypt' popup in TWRP but then on second, swiping to allow system to be modified but for the life of me I can't seem to get it to find .zip files (originally bluetoothed over, but then moved via Root Explorer - set to RW mode - into various folders within system)

problem flashing "encrypted" ROM from SD card

I'm trying to flash stock WW Nougat ROM onto my UK Three P2 from an unencrypted SD card but it says file is encrypted and fails. I've renamed file update.zip and tried it on a few cards all with the same problem.
Can anyone help?

Maybe download it again. Download it on a pc and format card prior to copying it to card and put card in phone while off etc as phone encrypts it I think soon as inserted. Just did my wife's and had to re format the card that was in my p2 as above or it failed.
i had the same issue with the three uk edition its because the phone keeps the file encrypted when downloading directly to device you need to download it on a laptop or pc (ect) and then move it over to the device through a sd card (take it out the phone) it will work then if you change the name of the rom zip file to UPDATE.zip (must be capital's) it took me 2 weeks to figure it out the phone has same kind of block on it being oem unlocked on a few devices (comes up with some weird things in bootloader mode)
Update don't need to be capitals.

Stock + 128GB SD, later maybe LineageOS

Hello all,
I have HTC 10 already rooted with TWRP and SuperSU running Stock Android 7.0.
I'm happy with Stock room but most probably I'll install LinageOS.
I have options and questions in my head to reconsider:
Restricted SD card access - I agree with it (after what I red just recently), but my idea was to use advantage of 128GB (fast one) card and store various app data to it. I was used to "full SD card access". I was thinking just format it as adopted but It would get wiped after ROM reset (which shouldn't happened that often once I'm settled down). But how is going to be SD card access on TWRP backup and recovery?
I red somewhere splitting SD card but it seems not necessary.
I don't know yet but how does LinageOS 14.1 handle SD card?
I would love to here there is simple solution for SD card for Android 7.0 (is it Nugat?...) or LinageOS 14.1. Because I have tried SDfix but didn't work because Error information - "no groups specified in WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE".
What solution wold you recommend? What options do I have?
BTW: Also I have in plan to start setup with ElementalX Kernel to get more functionality possibly?...
EDIT:
Should I use App2SD/Link2SD maybe?
