Kernel 3.4.0_1.52.1540.5 - HTC Desire 616

I'm aiming to build kernel 3.4.0 (1.52.1540.5) from the Source Code Released by www.htcdev.com last year
I Need your help, Can't do it all alone. So, please if anyone have some time,
do spare it here sharing the knowledge about building it from Source Code, once we get the New Kernel we can Easily Compile the New ROM for Example Android 4.4.2 for the Device.
Hoping to have some Assistance
Thanks

Hey bro, as i know you cannot compile rom without device and vendor tree but if you have a device and vendor tree you can compile rom and for kitkat rom required 3.4.67 kernel if i remember true also i am working compile 3.4.67 kernel for d616 and trying the find or create a new device and vendor tree with my friend but i don give 100% guarantee if i make a kitkat rom for d616 i will share at xda-developers and i will build cyanogenmod for d616 but i dont give any 100% guarantee because i am student and i have a exams but i try @v_singh and i have a d616

I too was thinking to do that , but was busy for last few months . Maybe we can build up a team first (Development is faster that way) .

Forget about it i will not make kitkat for we device because yesterday i received a call from htc and says to me "kitkat for desire 616 will get but now in development proccess" and if kitkat release for we device i will port cm11 for we devices but with a little bugs (video recording, second... sim etc.)

Hey Pal! don't get stressed, and also pardon me for getting so late, if I upload my whole rom backup, it would be long and idk if my slow internet can handle that much big file to Upload, well well! just make your ROM DE-ODEXED and download this and follow the README inside :good:

That's a great news. Does it show the htc logo or stuck on black screen? Could you capture the log? If yes, capture the Log with ALV(Advanced Logcat Viewer) and upload it here.

We are too lucky to get Devs like you guys
@arun483 please check the attached file :good:
@abhatia1435 actually I have messed up with my boot logo, so I can't see if anything going on underneath, but when I power on, it shows the broken boot n then reboots again (same like bootloop) but will try to capture the log.
And also I have a Question "do we need newer Rom to boot newer version of Kernel?"
Caution: for the other users , this file is only for Development Purpose, Do Not Flash it until you Know what you are doing. BE SMART, STAY SAFE.

Any Update @arun483 ?

@v_singh so first things first you messed up with boot and stuck in boot loop? NP you can easily find stock boot.img flash it using spflashtool
Need boot logo? I can make one and link you through pm
"do we need newer Rom to boot newer version of Kernel?" No it's actually visa versa, you need newer kernel to boot newer rom. We can port upto Android MarshMallow based on 3.4.67 kitkat kernel but not on jelly bean kernel. I can port some mediamods based on jellybean if you want

[DEV][4.4] CM11 Development - DEVELOPERS ONLY

As a proof of concept I compiled Kit Kat for our Acer Inconia. It needs a new build of CWM in order to flash. I have not been able to boot up CWM that I compiled so anyone here that has built recovery on here before try to build latest CWM and/or TWRP then we can try out this KitKat build to see if it boots or not. It may need some kernel patches. It's using pio_maski's jb-mr2 trees that I modified for 4.4 for a100 (note: I haven't uploaded yet and won't unless it boots).
Download: http://d-h.st/aKr
What you can do to help:
1. Compile the latest TWRP or CWM and post if it boots. Only do this if you've done it before; I'm not going to teach because it is out of my knowledge why CWM won't boot. If you come across any errors and don't know how to fix PM me or post here I'll help you fix it.
2. NOTHING can be done until we have a working (latest) recovery.
Sources:
Device: https://github.com/awid777/android_device_acer_a100 (cm10.2 branch)
Note for the sources: This isn't the source I used to compile the initial build. However, they are almost identical. The credits for the sources for the ROM go to @pio-masaki for his device and commons trees and prebuilt kernel. I would post the sources I used but I never uploaded them because I ended up deleting them early on as I prefer to use a single device tree. All my commits will now be posted to the listed source.

I am not a "DEV", however I have a good amount of talent with photoshop and have some self taught coding experience with linux and html5. I also am willing to learn/eager to learn. I know you mentioned you don't want to teach. Just know if you point me in the direction I am willing to do the work on my end to get the knowledge and apply it. I have been playing with this tablet and working on a hybrid kitkat look alike using 4.1.2 as my base. I tried using 4.3 and applying 4.4 goodies to it. Didn't work that well. The 4.3 Jellytime was a bit quirky at times and didn't seem stable as a daily driver. I have put together a couple new boot animations to compliment kitkat already. I have also modified Arora installer with a very good kitkat theme. I have used it several times to verify it works correctly. I can provide that if wanted. I am waiting for a stable build and willing to help where I can. I plan on installing this tablet into my dash in the very near future. Once that is done, unfortunately I will only be able to help with themes and basic items that don't require the tablet all the time. I have contemplated having the ability to remove the tablet whenever I leave the car so I guess we will see when I get there. Apologize for the long post.

This is not a port, thus doesn't need modification. It is compiled (built) from source and the work that needs to be done is in the source code so it can be compiled properly and work without modification

Thanks for the link and quick response, will take a look through some of that stuff and see if there is anything I can do to help. Also I noticed while I was typing the first one you put up a download... Did you get it to boot. I downloaded and tried using TWRP and was unsuccessful. I tried a couple times to make sure it copied over from the computer correctly. Still the same result.
4.4 updates different. Latest cwn will flash it. Maybe there's an easy way to do this

Ok so I am stuck right now. I spent a couple hours building an environment and started compiling from source. I am stuck at this point:
$ source build/envsetup.sh
$ breakfast a700
Where a700 is, should be a100. I get errors when doing this because CyanogenMod does not have the device in it's file system. Whoever has successfully done this, please advise. I am over half way with this and would like to complete the build. I have about 20gbs of data sitting on my cpu waiting to compile this so the sooner we can find the solution the better. Thanks in advance.
Need help solving this to move further... There might be a work around, however I have never done this and I am stuck.
Wait till tonight. I'll post my code.

Sounds good. I spent a good part of 3 hours compiling a master build of Kitkat which was complete prior to me leaving for work this morning, however my daughter kicked the power strip under the desk and shut everything down. I will try and find a little time tonight to recompile.

TWRP Version?
Is this TWRP new enough for your needs if not what is the newest version you are aware of
a100 TWRP 2.6.1.0 windows installer: as far as I can tell the Twrp image is based of linuxsociety's/GodMachine's work I know for sure the installer is his
http://d-h.st/Rfm
I have flashed this and all seems to work well
I also took the 2.6.1.0 from the above linked installer and put it into a flashable.zip that originaly contained GM's 2.2.2.1 TWRP
I updated the script to show the proper version as well attatched below
AngryManMLS Is responsible for both 2.6.1.0 and 2.6.3.0, "if I am not mistaken"?
His windows/Linux installers can be found here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=9577
and Here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47555451&postcount=109 For 2.6.3.0
I also invited AngryManMLS to build the TWRP needed for this project So We'll have to wait and see if he can help "Break US OFF A PEICE OF SOME KIT-KAT---- Iconia???!!!!!!"
I just want to correct something. The only thing I have done was updating the Windows and Linux installers for TWRP. I have no responsibility with the compiling of TWRP itself. At this point we're waiting for the TWRP folks themselves to fix whatever issues that lie with Kit Kat 4.4. I don't know what to say beyond that. Sorry.

My Bad I shouldn't have assumed do you know who is doing the compiling?
I'm going to go ahead and compile TWRP. I've educated myself on the a100 (I've never done programming on this device or any other Tegra based device... Used to Qualcomm and HTC) hopefully it will work. Current TWRP branch on GitHub is twrp2.7 and has all KitKat changes in it. I'll have a build tomorrow morning. Tonight I have to finish my essays and other homework. I'll let you all know if recovery boots or not. If it does boot, I'll go ahead and attempt installing and booting KitKat

Well I compiled latest TWRP it didn't work it has same errors. I'll take this up with Dees_Troy. Because when I place the same trees and TWRP into the cm-11 source it won't compile, whereas it compiles fine in cm-10 source. When I manually fix compilation errors it compiles but when flashed it doesn't boot. Same story with CWM

[KERNEL]Test Kitkat Kernel Files

So here are the Kitkat zImage and Modules for Q1000
PS. these are not appended with mediatek headers so they are currently not useful
Headers have been appended to the kernel and my Git repo is also up to date now.
I have tried to make a boot.img but it seems that windows doesnt like me, or our device :/
Installed ubuntu to do this extra work xD ( Building of kernel was done in fedora )
PS These files were uploaded as popular request to support developement
I AM NOT LIABLE FOR ANY KIND OF CONTRAPTIONS YOU CREATE USING THIS KERNEL ( UNLESS THE GOOD ONES xD )
This zImage needs to be Appended and then packed in boot.img to be used
But it is highly unrecommended to do stuff that may brick your devices. Just fool around with the kernel and you'll be good to go
Test builds of CWM 6.0.4.8 will be uploaded soon !!!

How to root Samsung Galaxy J2 : SM-J200G

Hi guys,
Is it possible to root Samsung Galaxy J2 with 5.1.1 ?
Firmware: J200GDDU1AOJ3
Putting together everything I found
TWRP recovery for J2 - Version 2.8.7.0 - here https://dl.twrp.me/j2lte/
The TWRP installs fine and fully working without bugs.
I flashed Supersu both 2.46 and 2.50 but no success, it is always giving me bootloops.
I thought 2.50 would work since it has this changelog
2.50 supolicy adjustments for Samsung 5.1.1

Even I flashed files from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh-wlpFaxpw&feature=youtu.be and official chainfire site: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
But still bootloops and not even going inside.
On browsing I saw that with 5.1.1, Samsung blocked root on stock kernels. I wonder how @Dees_Troy developed TWRP for this device without root. Any help would be really nice
I downloaded the kernel source and compiled a new kernel with the root protection removed. Kernel source is in our github.com account or available unmodified from Samsung.

Hey, do you know how to compile the J200 kernel from @Dees_Troy Github? https://github.com/TeamWin/android_kernel_samsung_j2lte

So @Dees_Troy has a compiled kernel for Galaxy J200 with root protection removed. I really need this compiled kernel to root my device Galaxy J200GU. Just like Galaxy S6, its update to 5.1.1 has root protection too, but developers succeeded in rooting after flashing their custom kernel with some restrictions removed. . @Dees_Troy, we really need your help, you can provide us the kernel (.img file). I don't have experiences in compiling an android kernel. Thanks for your response.

currently, it is not possible to root the device yet. just because of the samsung kernel that blocks root. you need to download the stock rom from sammobile and flash via odin to restore your device to original state.

The stock kernel has been compiled with 5.1.1 tree. So lets first comile a kernel with root protection removed as @Dees_Troy said. Have loads of work to do of which i need to download the 30GB sources first!!!

That's too big. .Hope you compiled the modded kernel. .And of course CM . nice work . .bro. .
Edit: Someday, you'll become an XDA Recognized Developer, I know your interests. .
Hey folks, I also got the J2 LTE last month. Tried to make a recovery but then found out that the kernel needed modifications. I was unable to spend time on this due to my heavy work. Here is Github Organization of the works I made. This org was made just few mins back to share my works. @CTXz helped me a lot. We compiled a recovery.img but that didn't work. I used Omni sources as my base. Omni 5.1. Here is some partition dumps/build.prop and other related files Google Drive.

I know bro! I too have no time but I just shared it here so maybe @irfanjunaid and others may find it useful.
EDIT : Let's get Root and CM for J2 @irfanjunaid ! I can help but I cant spend much time with it. Maybe an hour or two per day is my max. Link me ur github account, I ll add u to the org. Were you the guy who mailed me regarding root?
EDIT 2 : @Dees_Troy , I tried compiling your kernel and ended up with this error :
Code:

drivers/cpufreq/cpufreq_interactive.c:805:6: error: operation on 'ret' may be undefined [-Werror=sequence-point]

[KERNEL] -> tegra-3.18_unified_dragon_kernel_11_v201218 (DISCONTINUED)

Due to several reasons I have stopped the deployment of the "monthly Update.Zip packages" !
Thanks for your understanding.
This thread will be used for the unified tegra-3.18 kernel only.
Twelve:
tegra-3.18_unified_dragon_kernel_12_v211213.zip
Eleven:
tegra-3.18_unified_dragon_kernel_11_v201218.zip
Ten:
tegra-3.18_unified_dragon_kernel_10_v201010.zip
Pie:
tegra-3.18_unified_dragon_kernel_p_v200310.zip
Oreo:
tegra-3.18_unified_dragon_kernel_o_v200310.zip
Changes/Features:
- Upstream to kernel version 3.18.140
- Various patches and security updates
- Added Wireguard support
- Added/Enabled various file systems (exFat, NTFS, Network Filesystems .. etc.)
- Changed kernel config to enable/improve support for varioius services (tethering .. etc.)
- Added "fix cpu frequency limitation"
- etc.
Installation:
1. Boot into TWRP
2. Install the Kernel Update.Zip file
3. Reboot into system .. no need for SuperSU / Magisk !
The package contains an Image.fit kernel binary only - and no ramdisk part !
This way the kernel should run on all available Android Oreo/Pie/Ten ROMs for the dragon device.
And there is no need for a new SuperSu/Magisk installation afterwards, unlike to "full boot.img" installation.

Big thanks to @osm0sis (Anykernel2) and @jcadduono (lazyflasher) for the nice tools !

Thanks for feedback .. no good news.
Sorry, I can not reproduce your problem.
Tested the system_vendor udapte.zip several times on my Pixel C.
No problem so far ...
You flashed the complete .zip via TWRP ?
What was your previous firmware level ?
Did you upgrade bootloader as well ?
What kernel do you have in use ?
EDIT:
Which Version of TWRP ?
Pls use xceed version for now.
The NYChitman1 version seems to have problems.

Only the latest one I released because I didn't put the proper flag in place -- the previous one works perfectly fine as indicated by myself and others.
Also, I find it interesting that you've created a development thread while you aren't actually developing anything.
Thanks for the update.
Still like to test your version.
Ok, the version from here is recommended .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66557703&postcount=101
In the one from yesterday you fixed vendor image flashing via TWRP.. sounds nice.
When do you re-release this version ?
You may open a new thread for your TWRP releases ..
Thanks a lot for all your work!

There are so many fixes since MXC89F kernel .. which was commited on Arpil 5th .. even it's the May release. Ok, was tagged on May, 4th.
https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromiumos/third_party/kernel/+/MXC89F
Last changes .. 6 weeks ..
https://chromium.googlesource.com/c...+log/9c052efad6e651d33334b84c8f1feaf8945e8e7a
I am running the new kernel on latest M stock release .. MXC89F.
No problems so far .. really stable.
The kernel should run on all stock M releases for PixelC.
Used latest stock ramdisk to build the kernel .. maybe the dirty unicorn ramdisk is different.
But the actual kernel should work as well ..it's a dragon kernel.
Repack DU ramdisk with my kernel and it will most probably work as well .. maybe even with the same ramdisk, without repacking. Needs to be tested ..
Give it a try .. it will not hurt.
Cheers
Any chance of getting a port of multirom? Let me know if there's any interest, and what I can do to help.

Sounds good .. have it running on Nexus 7 flo .. really like it.
MultiROM for PixelC would be really nice .. the chromeos is part is maybe tricky.
But like SuperSU .. automatic chromeos image unpack and repack, if required at all.
It seems Tassadar is not around anymore .. not sure if he will come back.
Some new guys have taken over .. they just made a new update release for TWRP and MultiROM..
Works fine
Are you able to port it to Pixel C ?
Thanks

I am wanting to dig into the Linux4Tegra side of this, and was hoping that some of the work for multirom could or had been done. I don't know anything about the chromeos bootloader. Looking into it, Chrubuntu might be a viable path for this. I feel like this device is gimped with Android.

Sounds like a lot of work .. but if you have the right people involved ..
Maybe xceed or nychitman will know better how to "manage" the bootloader ..
As I know, until today, "nobody" knows how to remove the 30 second warning time beep sound ****.
Right now I am happy to "manage" the layer above .. boot.img and recovery.img

I had been keeping up with the chromeos-3.18 branch upstream, but I realized that a majority of the commits do not even apply to Dragon -- so it wasn't all that worthwhile to have in the majority of cases. With that said, I decided to go back to the MXC89F source until the next batch of source is released in June.

You are right .. there also many fixed not relevant for dragon at all.
But it´s a fresh kernel .. upstream
I was so free .. and made a new DU kernel now .. used your ramdisk and my fresh chomeos-3.18 build from today.
@redukt, please test this kernel again .. on DU

edit: I have to flash the latest supersu (beta v2.74-2) to get root again. Will test your kernel til the next DU weeklie as dd. I´ll have a look at the frequency overview and kept stock settings / governor. System runs fluid with no hickups or so. Great work!
Looks also very interessting ..stabilize-smaug-7897.B-chromeos-3.18
https://chromium.googlesource.com/c...kernel/+/stabilize-smaug-7897.B-chromeos-3.18
Will see .. today they released the 3rd N preview ... maybe it´s time for some N testing.
As I understand correct .. using N ramdisk and the same kernel from today should work on N as well.
We will see ...
