one request tarun pls dont limit the charging current.its very annoying to wait for 3hrs+ to charge mobile full.if you can increase then go for it higher than 1amp

Does it support f2fs, or i have to re-format data?

@Tarun93 what app u recomend to control this kernel?
A small review about the kernel..
The kernel is performing very good considering the initial release.
Using this kernel with latest temasek ROM.
Performance is good and no lags for normal use.
Multitasking performance is also good with few hiccups here and there.
Gaming performance is good.Able to play asphalt 8 at high settings with minor or no lags at stock clock speeds.
Battery performance ..... Yet to check...will update after 2-3 cycles
The only problem is that I'm unable to set max frequency to 1689 MHz through kernel auditor app.
It is stuck at 1401 MHz.
I request @Tarun93 to look into the issue.
Keep up the gud work!!

Oops double post

Firstly thnx for the stats n review
For multitasking I will recommend u tune the low memory killer to aggressive or very aggressive
Use kernel auditor for all the tweaking and for people who like to tweak a step further I recommend aero kernel control but u have to add the things manually by adding the sysfs path in the misc tab
As for the freq that's a know bug in kernel auditor that sometime there is a freq glitch and if u mean it was showing the 1689 step n u set it yet it was going back to 1401 the. Pls just calm it's normal as the thermal solution is doing it's work
*EDIT*
a request to.all the users pls do not set DT2W On boot via any app it will give u a non responsive screen on boot up I will fix it in the second build with the addition. To the miui support

Works on official cm?
Which ROMs does this works on?
You did have mentioned KitKat, so the Wi-Fi works or not coz other kernels work too but Wi-Fi doesn't
I can't wait to test this baby and see how it develops. Thank you for your hard work.
wowwww
R1 Released
Links updated sorry guys was busy with a few things.
Works on dirty unicorns last test build, thanks @Tarun93 i'll test it
Rom Dirty Unicorn TEST-v9.7
- In kernel adiutor the max cpu frequency is stuck at 1497mhz, if I try to enhance it will return back to 1497mhz. (Rebooted and seems to stay at 2265mhz)
- I can see only interactive, conservative, powersafe and performance governor. No seen of your governors :c
Works very smooth also at 1497mhz, nice job!
Hope you implement D2tw in future, in these days i'll test the battery and tell you all the details
does it work on official miui?

that's normal bro you phone might be warm at that time n its the thermal are throttling it down to get the temps lower you might have lowered the thermal limit
the thermal limit can be set manually with the help of kernel auditor
once the temp hits the temp limit = 1728000,
5c over set thermal limit= 1497600,
9c over set thermal limit = 1036800,
12 c over set thermal limit = 729600,
once the temperature is under the set temp limit it will be back to the normal freq
make's sense
n yes i have not added any governors as this was my first release i wanted it to be as basic as possible
i feel DT2W is still in BETA stage n i cant risk my users getting random reboots n things. will add it soon tho @vasishath (original porter of DT2W) is working hard on it so should be added soon

Kernel adiutor covers most of the things
BUT if you are old school sysfs types n then use Aero Kernel Control n add you custom sysfs paths in the misc settings tab :fingers-crossed:
for faux sound its kernel adiutor will do well
I might have missed it, but i can't find the commit for hardware key disabling fix for cyanogenmod. Can you apply it? It's kind of important for me since my phone's capacitive key backlight is kind of screwed up(annoyingl6 uneven birghtness) and i had to use on screen button.

Bro take your time and implement dt2w.Waiting for it. Best of luck.

UPDATE: Fixed cleaning dalvik + cache

@Andy1911 thanks for the kernel
@Andy1911 here's a little suggestion. Add in zzmove governor and don't forget to add in zzmove profiles by @ZaneZam and it'll be awesome!
Another thing I will like you to take note is that although supporting CM can be the easiest but CM nightlies has been so buggy lately (unlike the past which tends to be no different than snapshot/milestone) and thus you never know when your kernel might suddenly not boot after merging in the new CM codes. Thus my suggestion is to adopt Omni's based as they tend to be more stable and there's a lot of Omni based ROM but 1 custom kernel. Or be a AOSP kernel which supports ROM like AOSParadox. Lastly, be a CAF kernel that supports a lot of ROM as most of the ROM now although based off CM as their base, they have hopped on to the CAF wagon which is more stable and gives slightly better battery life than CM

Sure,
I will merge CAF sources, or build another Kernel based on CAF. Thanks for your suggestion... But most of the users use CM and not omni, that was the reason i was not woring for omni.
UPDATE : UBERTC will be merged in upcoming build

Build one based off CAF and Omni because they're more stable and most people will stay clear of CM due to how buggy they're slowly becoming.

hey. first welcome to opo development. im glad we have a new kernel here.
Second:THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. i d prefer a more simple kernel than the way it seems you re following.
we have 3 or maybe 4 kernels right now that include multiple hotplugs, TONS of features . Synapse and everything you can imagine. and dont get me wrong its good thing to have features. but i think that if you want your kernel to stand out i d try to build a stable optimized kernel. Choose your favorite hotplug your favorites governors. Tune them. and make a simply kernel with great performance and a more down the hood changes.
Its not a great example but i d try to fill the void that Franco Kernel left( yeah i know its apparently not dead and franco says he is gonna update, but still that development is more or less dead).
Like a Boeffla kernel but using different hotplug and different aproaches.
Then again that its just my opinion.
sorry for my bad english

you know what . its your kernel, . im gonna get back on android development(just apps this days)( i was building a rom for the g2 last year) . im gonna build my own kernel. so ty for the inspiration men.

I totally agree with you. But some people are currently been there who require different features. It cannot be the thing where a single feature is required for all the members. And in case of governers and Hotplugs, totally agree with you. We need a single optimized one. I already have included bioshock and msm hotplug(special edition) in my build. And optimizations, a Ton of them will come in new build tonight... Really thanks fr suggesting me... . But some features like sound control, fastcharge, voltage control, msm limiter, etc are needed. Actually planning to configure hotplug myself. If it goes fine upcoming builds will my own modded hotplug. So wish me atb. And actually my aim was to make a kernel with optimization and lot of mods like AK. So I was planning to build one like AK.

Maybe for all ROM.
I use Citrus CAF ROM, no problem.
When the next version will be released?
Is possible to use the file "zImage" inside DarkMoon-Kernel-z2_plus-Release-002.zip and use
Code:
fastboot flash boot zImage
to flash kernel instead of use TWRP Install method?
Thanks
oh, OC clocks were removed I liked hitting 160k on antutu just for fun haha

Yes it's possible but I don't suggest that because probably you will have broken wlan. If you want you can try

Ahahahah
Anyway I removed them because already weren't working. Maybe I'll add them another time in the future but the problem is to make them working without set them as default. Setting an overclock value as default is something that I don't want to do

Technically for all the custom ROMs nougat, then I heard some people that said it works on the marshmallow ROMs and on the stock ROMs too. I only can grant for the custom ROMs (it seems not the Jaguar... Lol) so I don't know about the zui. If you want to try and then tell us it will be very appreciated.

I didn't know how to say that. When connected to a USB port of a computer or something like that is the meaning. I haven't hearing issues, others have. I'll try to fix these completely with the next release. I hope you will like the kernel
Does it has any impact in the battery life of the phone ? If so its better or worse ?

I'm not really a stock rom guy, I always prefer custom rom. I was only confirming whether is it for stock or custom cause I didn't wanted to go through making nandroid backup and etc. I did try the kernel and I liked it, nice work.

No, no impacts at the battery life, just the charging speed changes. It can't damage the battery because with a normally charge it still charge faster
Hey DD3Boh, a bit offtopic since I didn't find the specific thread, but are you still updating Darkness Redefined or now you're only developing this Kernel and Citrus? I saw some people asking about it on zukfans's thread but you seem to be more active here lately.

I'm more active there because I won't publish on zukfans anymore. For now there is only the zukfans thread for the DND, with the next update I'll post it here too. I still develop it.

Adapt, improve and evolve!
Info:
Guys I created this kernel to Moto G 2013 (Falcon/Peregrine) and Moto G 2014 (Titan/Thea) in other words MSM8226 Motorola SoC baseds to learn, adapt some "unstable and unsafe" things as well to give a new life to my device, the plan is to support all Android versions avaliable for our device, I plan to do a better kernel with time and help of the comunity. This kernel is a nightly I will do it when I have a freetime or LineageOS update their sources or I add new features, it aims to be a rich feature kernel and a "perfection balance" between battery life and performance, this can be a UNSTABLE kernel, my routine will be build, upload and test, so stay tuned! I am open to suggestions. This is a kernel that don't work out-of-the-box the objetive of this kernel is give power to the user.
This kernel DO NOT WORK WITH STOCK MOTOROLA/GOOGLE PLAY EDITION ROM or IDCRISIS or AOSPARADOX.

How to install
If you're on other kernel please at least DIRTY FLASH you ROM, thanks.
The kernel:
By recovery:
Using TWRP (Please use the latest one)
1. Put the zip at /sdcard > Reboot to recovery > Install > Chose the kernel zip > Confirm to flash > (optional) Wipe caches > Reboot.
or
By app:
2. Flash it using Flashify or similar app from Playstore.
The kernel scripts backup your current boot.img so if you want to restore just use Flashify or TWRP.
The Bootlogo:
Using TWRP (Please use the latest one)
1. Reboot to recovery > Install > Chose the bootlogo zip > Confirm to flash > Reboot and enjoy.
2. Flash it using Flashify or similar app from Playstore.
3. Extract the zip and on mfastboot (or just fastboot) enter this command: fastboot flash logo logo.bin
Recommendations/Tweaking
Gov Tuner a mod to tune govs based on profiles for better battery life, better performance, or a balance., I have added a lot of sound patchs but A.R.I.S.E. will blow your mind! so if you want a better sound on your Moto G I suggest you A.R.I.S.E the best one in my opinion or just Viper+Dolby. And the best of the best tweaks app LSpeed just download and select a profile from main screen and fell it! or tune it by yourself!
To tweak use Kernel Adiutor from Playstore (or XDA Link), the Kernel Adiutor-Mod (fork with more experimental features) at XDA or Synapse You will need this zip and download Synapse app from Playstore.

How to git and build
Setting up and building
Basics of GIT
- How to build my kernel:
Code:
export ARCH=arm
export SUBARCH=arm
export CROSS_COMPILE=/path/to/toolchain/bin/arm-eabi-
make mrproper (cleans config files)
make clean (cleans already builded files)
make falcon_defconfig (or you device_defconfig)
make menuconfig (if you want to tweak the config)
make (I use this too -o2 -j4 CONFIG_DEBUG_SECTION_MISMATCH=y CONFIG_NO_ERROR_ON_MISMATCH=y)
How to cherry pick commits
Basically to cherry pick a commit you have to have it source and branch, this is a simple how to do it
First of all you need to set your upstream since it is a fork of CM/LOS or STOCK source:
Code:
git remote add upstream linkingithub.git
For example
Code:
git remote add upstream https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_motorola_msm8226.git
so if you want to cherry pick a commit from me
Code:
git remote add bryanbytez mysourcelink.git
and after that you need to have my source locally but stay calm this wont mess you source
Code:
git fetch -all
To merge upstream changes (From CM/LOS or Motorola)
Code:
git merge upstream/cm-13.0
This will merge upstream cm branch cm-13.0 in your source code.
Misc help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2319018 (about boot.img, ramdisk and others)
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2816715/branch-from-a-previous-commit-using-git (Unlike me you can just revert or create another branch based on the commit and not delete the whole source code )
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4410091/github-import-upstream-branch-into-fork (Import a upstream branch on your fork)
And to revert a git: git revert sha1, example git revert eab5c8fef098548f0f00085196bbf40f41bf8ba1

Did you enabled on KA? It give some error? Which kernel DT2W worked? Which is you display? check note section in OP, please. I used the same "formula" for falcon, peregrine and titan/thea but maybe this last need some special atention.
Thanks.

I've used ex kernel manager, i don't think the problem is on the software side. In marshmallow kernel dt2w worked, is not a fault of yours, i think is nougat
In devolution kernel is not working too
When i try to unlock screen i had a soft reboot

I'm just asking because I don't own a Titan/Thea/Peregrine but since it have the same SoC same features should work in all.
BTW you can test in a MM?

So basically any kernel that have DT2W is not working on N right?
Can you grab me a dmsg and lastkmsg? Maybe I can debug it.
Thanks!

Can you say something about the general performance and stability? Does CPU overclocking work without overheating or other issues?

Here You are thanks for working on titan too!
I'm on RR MM at the moment, when trying dt2w/s2w my phone reboots.

General performance is great, i'm using interactive with alucard at maximum 1401mhz, never faced overheating issues :good:

Does OC actually work?
Other developers have tried it before, and realized it was a placebo soon after.
Kernel working great!
But one thing, if I select Dt2w/S2w from kernel auditor.. After that, the device got reboot automatically & settings are changed itself to default settings n kernel auditor..
So pls, implement/improve/repair Dt2w features..
Sent from my Moto G 2014 using Tapatalk
I use Conservative governor, no heating problems.
DT2W crashes/reboots device. I would not bother with DT2W, it just drains battery.

FAQ
1. Why the kernel zip is so large?
-> Treble Pie and Treble Oreo version of the kernel are packed in single file. You have to choose your version during installation so choose carefully.
2. How frequently it will get updated?
->Well its not fixed ,most probably it will be updated after every 15 days. But if some major bug is there then there can be quick updates.
3.Do you have any telegram release channel where we will be updated about the news about this kernel?
-> Yes we have telegram channel-https://t.me/prototypereleases
4.Can we request features?
-> Yes you can request features and ill try my best to implement it but no promise
5.I dont have any knowledge about governors and schedulers?
-> Dont worry if you dont have any knowledge just select next in aroma installer
6.Which ROMS are supported ?
-> Treble ROMS of pie and oreo are supported.Further compatibility will expand.
6.My phone heating after booting the kernel ?
-> Yes as the phone boots CPU carries out various tasks which lead to increase load on cpu and thus heating. So it is recommended that after flashing the kernel keep the phone idle for 10 mins and then see the magic

Ofcourse
Okay, initial impression.
-Charging rate is fine.
-Pubg gameplay is smooth and this is amazing that it stayed at 40°C for me. I was shocked cuz this was only possible before in Cardinal Rom. Great work dev
-Battery consumption is 13-14% per full length classic match.
- Though the phone doesn't heats as such, but the idle temps are higher than stock Arrow and Moxie ie. >36°C
I haven't done a full charge, so can't really comment in battery.
But this is Greta for initial build. Thanks for this kernel.
Finally a pie kernel. Well managed thermals undoubtedly. Although it is too early to comment. I hope battery lasts. Please move the thread to development section. Also kernel lacks hotplugs, wakelocks, and thermal controls. Also please list the work of each governors as listed on aroma on the thread for easy governor handling. One major missing is option to overclock gpu and cpu both.
PUBG not working
Super fine performance but while on pubg it's taking too long just to load (About 3 mins) then it hangs up at loading screen. I'm on AEX 5.8 rooted.
Kindly Suggest something to resolve this issue. I tried reflashing kernel but it didn't workout.
Thanks again for this Super thing.
I'll add battery backup as soon as possible.
Edit- I have checked with cpu float GPU freq. are not going up.
If this is using aroma for install, can something like ElementalX where you pick the default cpu & gpu clock speeds before installing the kernel possible? Of course setting everything after booting into rom with a kernel manager is fine, but a option to run without a manager would be appreciated
Will try this later today on ArrowOS Pie, as for features Im looking forward to overclocking, thermal and voltage control to be implemented
edit: early benchmark result, with all battery-oriented choice from aroma (darkness governor, noop i/o sched, "No" at playing games). Adreno driver v328 rev3
about the same as a snapdragon 625 according to gb. Gpu performance doesn't seems to be hobbled much

Well with how the little cluster's missing 1.56ghz frequency I guessed that asking for cpu oc would be hard although it's obviously the main performance bottleneck and the adreno 530 on a 1080p screen is already fast enough.
Pre-baked undervolting and voltage though would make it I hope? Can predefined uv level be implemented in aroma as well?

Its a known issue. When you upgrade GPU drivers from 2xx on z2, geekbench fails to properly benchmark the device, GPU performance isn't considered. Antutu benchmark doesn't have this issue.
after dirty flashing my rom then flashing the kernel all is going good performance is great but when i play pubg if i try to raise or lower the volume i get flashes in the background of the volume panel . i think its something related to the gpu drivers .
