No root for marshmallow - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Reading this article
http://www.xda-developers.com/a-look-at-marshmallow-root-verity-complications/
And with the locked bootloader of the LG G4, does this mean whenever marshmallow is released for the G4, it wouldn't be possible to root without a new exploit?

Sorry
seems like already a thread with discussion here http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/marshmallow-t3218595/post63238531#post63238531

How to downgrade LG G3 from Marshmallow 6.0 to Lollipop 5.0.2

Hello, I'm new to this site and made this thread because I couldn't find any tutorials on how to do it from my phone model. Recently I upgraded my T-Mobile lg g3 phone ota to Marshmallow and I hate the update. I've been searching everywhere trying to figure out how to downgrade back to Lollipop. My model is d851 and I heard from some users that you need the LGUP or LG Flash tool. I still just don't know how it works. I only seen tutorials on it for models d855. Anyone know a fix around this?

LG G4 Root Verizon

Is it possible to root my LG G4 from Verizon on Android 6.0 (software version VS98626A)
I've searched and either I'm inept or there is no definitive answer to my question.
Also, please forgive me if this is a bad place to post

Strictly no. It Is not possible. They have the boot loader locked and Android 5.1 is the only way.

I got videos for downgrade and root. No 6.0 root tho

Will the G4 in canada get nougat?

So I did some searching online and found that LG decided to update some of the eastern models to 7.0. My question is weather the models in North America will get nougat by OTA or if I can load it manually without root. I just got a brand new H812 model and I'm sick of the OS. Will flashing the official nougat for those models work on my phone?

It's looking increasingly likely that the H812 will not get 7.0 (you can check out the *****-fest on https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/official-nougat-g4-v10-q2-2017-t3567402 to get a better idea).
I do not recommend flashing any other models of official Nougat - with the H812 locked bootloader and the model differences you will most likely hard-brick your device - I am not aware of any H812's that have successfully done this but will stand corrected if someone has managed.
Now with that said, do not abandon all hope. Senior member steadfasterX has been working steadfastly on overcoming all these issues and has recently had a breakthrough development (refer to post #252 in his thread [Bootloader UNLOCK][LS991|H81x|VS986|F500] Unofficial unlock -> PoC).
So hold on and wait for further developments and check his thread there regularly ... he had previously unlocked successfully an H812 but with some limitation but this new development may lead to all limitations and risks being overcome shortly.

Thank you very much
Exiting stuff!
No point in waiting any longer, lol - it is doubtful that the LG G4 will last much more than this year before they all are toast - either by battery or by the phone itself.

Nobody has had to wait. As of March 8 '18 were able to unofficially unlock our locked LG G4 H812 bootloaders, thanks to @steadfasterX 's brilliant & persistent work: [UNLOCK][UNOFFICIAL][G4] Unlock **ANY** LG G4 device with UsU
Not only have we been able to install a ported official Nougat stock rom but many of us have been using custom Nougat and Oreo roms. Batteries can be replaced and later LG G4 models have not suffered the ILAPO issues that plagued earlier versions.
Custom Rom for LG G4 H812
Can someone tell me where I can find a custom rom for the LG G4 H812? In particular where I can find the ROM for Nougat. I'm curious if I can go from MM to Oreo and skip over Nougat? Can I also go straight to Pie from MM? And if I find any of these unstable or unsuable, can I downgrade after upgrading?

Most custom roms have their own thread in the following forum: G4 Android Development and some of the very best can be found in SteadfasterX's Download Server - steadfasterX is the author of the unofficial bootloader unlock process for the LG G4.
Note: If you have not unlocked your bootloader unofficially following the process in the linked thread in post #6 ([UNLOCK][UNOFFICIAL][G4] Unlock **ANY** LG G4 device with UsU), you will have to complete that whole process first before you can install a custom recovery and rom. Read everything very carefully and make you you understand it fully.
