My phone is unable to find latest updates. SM-J500F - Samsung Galaxy J Questions & Answers

Hello,
ISSUE : My phone's android was corrupted while I was updating it via Smart Switch so I gave it to Samsung Service Center. They flashed stock firmware in my phone and IDK what they do but they said that Wi-Fi and Hotspot is not working and they asked me to come back after 2 days to lodge a complaint again. Now when I reached home I saw that my firmware is older than it was before servicing. I called them to ask them what is wrong with this. They said that they dont have latest firmware so they flashed older one and said me to do update via settings > about > update. I went there and it says that it have latest updates installed already.
How is it possible that 48 hours earlier I had latest update and now after servicing I have older firmware than what I had before.
Question :
1> How do I update my phone to latest version and why is this issue caused that my phone is not able to find the latest update ?
2> How do I fix my wifi and hotspot feature ?
Best Regards,
Pr0Ankit

Solved
I fixed both the issues by doing this :
1> Downloading the latest firmware from sammobile.com for my phone.
2> Downloading Odin and flashing that firmware in my phone fixed all of my issues.

Big problem after flashing ... "Searching"

Hi, everyone I had a rooted GS2 and yesterday I flash the lightly tweaked ROM made by Mr. X for wifi calling. The phone was having problems with wifi calling, so i decided to flash the original Wifi calling update from T-mobile via ODIN and now after i flashed the phone it shows "searching" and it won't find the T-mobile network.
What do you guys recommend i do?
thanks
Flash the stock ROM, wait and see if it finds the network. If everything is normal, flash the update.
I dont think mrx rom requires an update being flashed, it didnt for my phone
Yeah people in the thread were having problems and i read somewhere that it was recommended to do what i did so the baseband number can be updated.
I have flashed back to stock ( the original update before the wifi calling update) and it still shows "searching".

This is what I get when i try to manually select the T-Mobile network. BTW i took out my SIM card and put it in an unlocked iphone 3GS and it works just fine.
Any help? I basically have a brick laying around now.

After trying to update, my phone's baseeband turn into OH1
yes
Yes, it is true. I got it for my T999L, update is 4.42 MB. I've read that the update is to patch against stagefright exploit. I haven't applied the patch. Newly purchased phone and still trying to figure out my root options.

If you want to root, use your phone to download towelroot, then install it, run it and your device will be rooted
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Free mobile app
I was running UENC2 and got an update alert, when I tried it was told that all download quotas were filled for the day and to try kies, kies is now giving me a 911 Meg DL.

s9+ doesnt want to update firmware/software

Greeting
I recently bought a phone from a second hand website a galaxy s9+ after confirming the IMEI that it is authentic I still am unable to update the software or firmware on the phone using the about phone menu.
I get the "registering device-process failed" error in the software update menu.I am currently residing in Namibia Africa but the phone is a SM-G965U American version. Also in the about phone section it shows United Arab Emirates TRA ID, how can I work around this to get the phone updated? it is still on android 8.0 on September 2018 security update.
thanks for the help.

this is the first post the OP ever put up, might need some more guidance with odin
but you are correct IMO
OP go to sammobile.com/firmwares and get the files for the american carrier version your phone is for and flash them via Odin. The Odin process can look intimidating, but its completely doable and will likely fix your updating issue and also get the UAE stuff off the "about phone" section. Odin flashing is probably what got it there in the first place

You likely don't have the matching csc flashed for the build you are on. You will need to flash the full matching set for your current setup.

IMEI says "unavailable" and signal isn't working

I have a Galaxy S9+ that usually runs AlexisROM (Android 10) but I recently switched over to Lineage in order to try a stock Android ROM. As much as I liked it, I am too used to Samsung ROMs so I decided to restore my TWRP backup and the problem started happening. I tried reinstalling AlexisROM (clean install) but the problem remains, IMEI unavailable. I tried accessing the service menu (*#06#) but it just results in a black screen and a frozen device.
I am thinking about returning the device back to stock by installing the latest firmware from sammobile, do you guys think that would fix the issue? Or is there something else I can try in the mean time? It's my secondary device so I am not in a hurry if there's a fix out there somewhere without having to go through the hassle of going back to stock.
Sorry for the long post and thank you
