The Newest News of UMi Rome :
UMi Rome Is A $99 Smartphone With MT6753 & 3GB of RAM
UMi is known for making value for money smartphones and this is evident from its recent releases like the UMi Iron Pro and the UMi Hammer S. Now, the company is going to take things to a whole new level with its brand new device, called as the UMi Rome. This latest release from the company will bring the best specifications that we have seen on a phone under $100.
The UMi Rome will feature the fast MT6753 octa-core chip clocked at 1.3GHz. This is the same chip that powers most other mid-range flagships in the market under $200. Along with the powerful processor, the company has included 3GB of RAM. Yes, you heard it right! The phone will indeed feature 3GB of RAM with 16GB of internal storage to make sure that you no longer have to settle for slow smartphones at a budget price.
As for the display, the UMi Rome will feature a large 5.5-inch screen with 1280 x 720p resolution. With this display, you are sure to enjoy watching movies and playing games on the device. At the back, there will be a 13MP Sony IMX164 sensor with dual LED flash. What makes the UMi Rome even more interesting is the presence of an LED flash up front aiding its 2MP shooter. It will surely attract a lot of selfie lovers to this device.
The phone is also pretty compact, measuring just 7.9mm in thickness. Inside this body, you get a 2500mah battery that's large enough to last an entire day. Finally, the Rome will run on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
As you can see, these are great specs for a phone that costs just $99.99. In fact, this budget device can take on the so called flagships like Cubot X15 and Ulefone Paris in a number of areas.

3GB RAM + 16GB ROM, $99.99, really?

The IMX164 is an 8mp senso. So the 13mp is an interpolation.

i saw some real pictures here:
but it seems not at $99.

Looks like a cross between an iPhone and an Elephone P8000.

What can offer a smartphone for $ 89 nowadays?
Over the past few weeks we have seen Chinese phone makers release phones for under $100, some for as little as $70. And for the money they have all looked pretty good, but as prices creep lower so does the amount of RAM available in them.
The answer gives you the UMi Rome , with the design, features and price, this phone could be one of the most affordable smartphone .
UMi Rome has 5.5 AMLED "HD 2,5D display and MediaTek MT6753 octa-core 1.3GHz SoC, well 3 GB of RAM , 16 GB of internal memory , Battery 2,500 mAh and Lollipop Android 5.1 pre-installed. The phone has the intricate CNC’d chassis visible around the edges of the device.
Impossible not to notice how the rear and the lower frame with speaker and micro-USB socket of the device then are guided by Galaxy Note 5 (also the shape of the camera is almost identical), although in the render below the similarity is slightly less marked.
Umi Rome was priced at $ 90. At this price these parameters look great.

UMI Rome short review
I received an UMI Rome today and made a lot of tests of it and I must say that even for $110 I’m rather disappointed. Here are some of my early findings.
Build quality
The build quality is ok for the price. The phone feels rather solid and weighs 183 grams with screen protector on. But it’s thick and it also feels rather thick and clumsy in the hand. The specs from UMI say 7.9 mm which is a lie even if I measure beside the protruding camera. Beside the camera it’s 9 mm thick and over the camera it’s 10.4 mm. Too thick in my opinion. Also the buttons on the side rattles a bit and feels a bit ”cheap”.
Display
It’s no AMOLED display as far as I can see. On the contrary it seems to be a rather mediocre LCD HD 1280x720 display with not so good viewing angles and a lot of light leakage at the top of the display. If it’s really an AMOLED I wonder how it can have that much light leakage at the top? It’s also no real 2.5D display. The glass has slightly rounded edges but that doesn’t make it 2.5D when there is so much borders on the sides of the display. It just looks 2.5D when the screen is off. The aspect ratio between actual screen and the rest of the front is very good though. The worst downside of the screen is perhaps that it only has a 2-point digitizer. It’s many years since even the cheapest smart phones on the market started to have 5-point touch displays. Really bad. Also the screen has very bad touch sensitivity but probably it gets a bit better if I remove the screen protector.
Radio reception
All radios are suffering from very bad reception. I wonder how they managed to build such a large phone with so bad antennas? The wifi signal is generally 20 dB lower in WiFi Analyzer in the Rome than in my cheap MT6735 reference phone. Also the 4G download speed is low. In Ookla Speedtest I get below 30 Mb/s download speed and below 8 Mb/s upload speed on the same spot as I get 100/40 Mb/s in the MT6735 reference device. The max speed in my 4G network is 100/100 Mb/s on LTE B20. I think the modem in MT6753 is capable of 150 Mb/s download speed and therefor I draw the conclusion that the reception in the Rome is very bad due to bad antennas. Also the GPS reception is very bad. There is no way that I can get a fix inside whereas the MT6735 reference gets a fix in only a few seconds. Even outside it takes a long time to first fix. Seems like antenna problems again. I almost wonder if there’s some production error in my Rome, if all the antennas are wrongly or badly connected somehow? I haven’t tried the BT yet but I suspect that it suffers from the same problem.
Performance
In AnTuTu V6 I get a score of 37,500 which is ok I think. The Mali-T720 GPU in the MT6753 is relatively fast and therefor even most 3D games runs ok. Especially since the GPU only has to drive a HD display. In Geekbench 3 the multi-core score is also ok at 2,900. However, it’s the single-core score that really counts in my opinion and that score is quite low at 620. The low single-core score is reflected in the Sunspider 1.0.2 java test. The Rome needs almost 1200 ms to finish that test with the stock browser. It’s not fair to compare with my $800 iPhone 6S but the 6S finishes the same test almost 6 times faster. One good thing I’ve noticed with all MT6753 devices is that they don’t overheat like the miserable MT6752 SoC does in all devices that I have tested. 5 minutes of HD video in YouTube over WiFi only brings the highest monitored temp in CPU-Z to less than 45°C, whereas the MT6752 easily reaches 70°C.
Cameras
The main camera is quite good but only 8 MP (IMX164 confirmed) interpolated to 13. The photos looks natural in colour and whitebalance, unlike the photos from UMI Hammer 5" for example. Setting the camera resolution to the true resolution, 8 MP in this case, seems to make the photos sharper and better. Maybe because the interpolation mess up the photos. The front camera is a rather bad GC2355 fixed focus 2 MP camera. Maybe good enough for video calls but definitely not good enough for the users who wants to take selfies.
Root
This is the greatest strength of this and other UMI phones. The phone comes pre-rooted with just a flick of a switch. Also SuperSU is already there as soon as you activate developer options and unlock the bootloader. Many thanks to UMI for the initiative to sell the phones pre-rooted (maybe depending on which version of Rome it is for different markets?). Also the Rootjoy PC software deserves a lot of cred even though there’s no other firmware available for the Rome yet (and might never be?).
Software
The phone comes totally free from bloatware. No Chinese crapware and not much gapps crap. Again UMI should have a lot of cred for that I think. All there is is just a standard Android 5.1 + SuperSU.
I add a few screen dumps below from some of the tests I made. If I make any new observations worth sharing I will add them in edits below the original post.

Thanks for the short interview, I found it very useful. Your review reflects most of the issues which people have complained in Umi forum. I also ordered mine around 2 weeks ago, hoping it will be okay for my usage.

Through rootjoy update firmware to v3.03

The phone is ok but not worth the money really. The battery time turns out to be a lot worse than I thought and there is no way that it's real 2500 mAh. I might test the real capacity over a test load just to prove my point. I did that with the UMI Hammer (the 5", not Hammer S) and it turned out that the specs were greatly exaggerated (not to say faked). I found a lot of other small bugs and problems in the Rome also but hopefully some of them will be fixed with firmware upgrades soon.
I think that the Elephone M2 (same SoC) is a lot better buy at 150 USD (what I paid on pre-order in October 2015), which really means a lot because I don't like the Elephone brand.

Yea, I received the phone. The build is quite good, but the touch screen quality is quite bad, and camera quality does not do better. It's been one day, so I am still trying to see what I can do to improve. I also got Iron Pro for myself, Rome is for my gf, and Iron Pro is quite good though. Umi does produce a nice design and good build phones, but they should do better with their software. And they should stop using false/hype marketing like big companies, they shouldn't do that with their growing reputation *crossed fingers for new update

Ulefone Future 5,5" MTK6755 64bit, 4GB+32GB, Android 6, Fingerprint ID
It has a front without bezel between display and the right & left edges, so it will be thinner than most 5.5" phones such as iPhone 6 Plus. You can not find a volume rocker on the frame because there will be an invisible "touch" volume rocker. Its fingerprint scanner will be located on the right side. The "Future" will be Ulefone’s first metal uni-body model. And it will come with both CyanogenMod and Android 6.0.
It is powered by the MTK6755 2GHz octa-core 64-bit SoC, 4GB RAM plus 32GB storage. This will be Ulefone’s flagship device in 2016.

It is not out yet and there are no more information, but I'm definitely going to review it when it comes Rumours say that the "Elephone P9000" maybe will look similar as Ulefone and Elephone are working together on some models.
Nice phone! I am really looking forward to it.

Ulefone Future vs. Elephone P9000 Edge...... both have similar hardware and design. But there will only be one winner!

I even heard they work together and yeah they both look beautiful <3 I can see that the OS on Ulefone Power looks the same as in the Elephone P9000. Stock Android with e few customizations But in benchmarks the processor looks weak, weaker than x10 on Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 hence even from MTK6752 in multi core so that's definitely a let down. If they just used x10 instead but they probably want to cut the price too as the competition is very high. We'll see how things will go.
Btw, I watch your videos on YT and you do amazing work so keep it up
I'd like to ask you based on the phones you've used/reviewed which one would you suggest more based on display, OS stability-speed-lag free and support, performance - gaming, camera, battery (I heard there are batteries that get weaker after only a few charges or maybe months i.e percents of batteries go down while screen off(have you faced such an issue ?) .. etc.
Eagerly waiting for this phone to get released. The build quality and the display are looking top notch from all the photos and videos you can find on the web.

It should come end March if everything goes well.....
Personnally, never liked the buttons on screen or one-button phones. It looks like a good phone, but not for me. I wish they build another version that have menu, back and home button not in the screen...
Anyone else thinking like me?
it is amazing, i like it. good design
It seems it will have a version with Helio X20 and 128 GB internal memory:
Ulefone Future will have Helio X20 128GB Version
Chinese brands are high on making devices with stunning specs since the beginning of 2016. Earlier we have Xiaomi, VIVO, and now Ulefone join in the rush saying their bezel-less device Ulefone Future will also a Helio X20 version with 128GB built-in storage.
Ulefone says the X20 Future will still be equipped with 4GB RAM because the chipset is not compatible with 6GB memory at all according to the MTK official information. Among other specs, the display will have a resolution of 2K and the back camera will adopt 20MP CMOS. Due to a shortage in supply of X20 chipset, the top-spec Future will be released later than the Helio P10 version.
In addition to the bezel-less Future, Ulefone will also launch a version with narrow bezels around display, also packing Helio P10 and 4GB RAM but offering lower camera resolution and smaller built-in storage. And of course this version will be a little cheaper.
Anyway, the normal version of Ulefone Future will be released in April with 16MP Samsung Camera, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 1080P display besides, Helio P10 and 4GB RAM.

I think I also would prefer hardware buttons because from what I can see in the video, the screen doesn't fill up the full phone frame, and the virtual, pop-up buttons look like a little too away from the bottom edge. It's weird.
I think a best bet is just to keep the traditional, stylish look such as from Be Touch 3 and Vienna. The virtual pop-up buttons could end up compromising the new design style and new features of the phone. My 2c.
According with Ulefone news, it will be on sale next week
Ulefone Announces Bezel-less Flagship Device Ulefone Future
If you have ever suspected that Ulefone Future is a just a bait the company use to keep the their brand awareness, you can be at ease now because we finally see the bezel-less device announced on the official page of Ulefone, who stresses the sale will begin next week.
Ulefone Future has all the specs that are supposed to come with a Ulefone flagship in the year of 2016. The octa-core 64-bit chipset Helio P10 is as fast as 2GHz; RAM and built-in storage are enlarged to 4GB and 32GB, respectively; and the 16MP Samsung S5K3P3 camera is expected to offer more details in photos with PDAF for fast focus as well as dual-tone flash to fill natural light in darkness.
The above specs only justify the Future’s existence in the high-end market, but it would be an average competitor if without the bezel-less display and side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The 5.5-inch 1080P display is said to offer limitless visual experience while sitting below the power button, the fingerprint scanner will be right next to your finger.
3000mAh battery capacity sounds mediocre this year but a flaghship is not supposed to be thick. Many brands’ solution to this dilemma is a high-power charger, while Ulefone is no exception. They will provide users of the Future with a 9V/2~3A charger to fill up its battery in 1 hour.
Another indicator for Ulefone Future being a flagship is its metal unibody, which claims to come from a whole piece of magnesium-aluminum ingot by CNC cutting. While preserving the natural texture of metal, the unibody will have solid structure to protect the screen from hitting.
For more, Ulefone Future will come with Android 6.0; the Cat 6 baseband will support 350Mbps mobile data speed if your local carrier can offer 4G at that level; gyro sensor is equipped for VR apps; and Type-C USB is adopted for reversible plug.
Ulefone Future measures 151.5 x 73.5 x 8.6mm in size and the weight is 185kg with battery built in. Thanks to the bezel-less design, the Future will be smaller than most 5.5-inch devices. And you will have 2 colors to choose, grey and golden.

Ulefone Future - Information & Reviews
Introduction
After their amazing DAC Smartphone at a low price, Ulefone has finally announced another amazing device that will be sold with sales starting from next week.
This is the Ulefone Future
Unlike their previous devices, this is their first flagship featuring a Mediatek Helio P10 CPU, 4GBs of RAM with 32GB of ROM, an excellent 16MP Samsung S5K3P3 Camera supported by PDAF auto-focus and a dual-tone flash configuration, a 4G Cat. 6 Modem and a Gyroscope Sensor. Pretty nice considering that no other Ulefone device was made with so much high-end hardware.
Even if some previous leaks said that it would have a 2K Display, this isn't true. It will have a 1080p 5.5" Display (bezel-less)
Similar to some Sony Xperia devices, the Ulefone Future will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a pretty particular feature that makes this device different than others.
There are no dimensions known yet, but it is said to be absolutely thick and this is why its battery is just 3000mAh. It doesn't mean that this is too low, because the included hardware doesn't require so much power. Supported by MTK Pump Express Quick Charge technology, it will be able to be recharged in more or less 1 hour.
Almost all Chinese companies are now focusing their attention on the chassis, and this device will have a Metal Chassis (with CNC treatment) that makes the device much more ergonomic and reduces the risk to break it much easier than standard treatment.
Mediatek provided the Helio P10 CPU only starting with Android 6.0, so the Ulefone Future will have the latest release of Android.
Other details coming soon
Hi Guys. New information. The Pre-sale will start on 4th May 2016:
Ulefone Future Presale to Start up May 4 with USD199.99 Flash Deal
Ulefone announces today they will kick off the presales promotion of their bezel-less flagship Ulefone Future from May 4 with a flash deal of USD199.99 apiece as the beginning, a sharp discount of USD70 from the original price of USD269.99.
At 17:00 (GTM+8) next Tuesday, 2,000 units of Uleofone Future will be offered for flash deals at more than 10 partner shops of Ulefone simultaneously. After all of them are sold out, you still have the special price of USD239.99 for unlimited preorder until May 25. Remarkably, the USD239.99 package will contain all accessories including 9V/2~3A fast charger, Type-C USB cable, Type-C to micro USB adapter, TPU case, screen protector, and dust plug while USD199.99 will only cover the cable.
Among Ulefone Future’s components the most remarkable is 5.5-inch FHD bezel-less display which is comparable to the 3D display of USD700-or-so Samsung S7 Edge, while the 4GB RAM is popular among international flagships this year.
Other specs of the Future include Helio P10 8-core 64-bit 2GHz chipset, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, metal unibody, 32GB storage, 16MP Samsung S5K3P3 camera with PDAF and dual-tone flash, 3000mAh battery, 9V/2~3A fast charger, Type-C USB, and gyro sensor.
Ulefone Future will come with Android 6.0 pre-installed. Color-wise, there are grey and golden to choose.

More information about the battery
Ulefone Future Recharge and Drainage Test
Ulefone Future has 3000mAh battery which is only passable in the year of 2016, since a flagship is not supposed to be thick. As compensation, a 9V/2~3A fast charger will come in the package to fill up the battery in 1 hour.
In a latest battery test, Ulefone staff managed to charge Ulefone Futre from 21% to 76% in half an hour with the phone turned on, indicating that a singe charge will cost less than 1 hour. And playing online HD video for 30 minutes, the battery drained from 100% to 91%. If this has authentically reflected real life, one-day normal use should be out of problem.
In addition, Ulefone Future will share the same Pump Express Plus charger with the mammoth battery device Ulefone Power. And as always, Ulefone claims the Future has packed a Sony li-polymer battery.

Leagoo Shark 1 Hands on, Design, Display, Camera, Performance and storage review

Design
Leagoo Shark 1 comes with olycarbonate plastic and aluminum alloy on the side and back of the device. It has three various colors, twilight blue, starlight silver and champagne gold. So it has provided you with the nice choices for men and women. It sports by 6inch 2.5D FHD Corning Gorilla Glass screen, and the dimensions of this phone are 158.6×82.8×8.5 mm. Because of large battery, the overall weight has 240.9 grams. But that’s ok for me.
What’s more, you can see the front camera, light sensor, the speaker, LED notification light on the front side above the display.
There are 3.5mm Headphone jack and IR port on the top of the smartphone for TVs, home appliances, etc.On the back side of the phone, there are fingerprint sensor and 13MP camera with dual LED flash. In the center of the back, there is a Leagoo logo and, below the removable cover, there is a speaker grill.
The power button and volume up and down buttons are placed on the right side of the phone. You can see there is a micro card slot, and the micro USB port is located in the bottom right side.
Made by LG, display on this phone breaks the 5.7″ boundary, featuring 6″. Manufactured in LTPS technology, this 6-inch full HD “monster” will provide 30% more brightness than a standard LCD and, it will reduce power consumption by 20%.
By the way, 6 inch FHD Corning Gorilla screen provides you with nice viewing angles and superb contrast. You can use your smartphone freely during sunlight and moonlight.
In conclusion, Leagoo shark 1 has a great design in terms of its appearance. So i believe 6inch smartphone will meet your nice needs.
Hardware
Leagoo Shark 1 is equipped with Mediatek’s 64bit Octa core processor and 1.3Ghz main frequency. It is also built in RAM 3GB ROM 16GB internal storage. Of course it can be expanded to 64GB via a micro SD card.
as a flaw, but when you need more room, you can always expand it with additional 64GB via micro SD card.
Therefore, you can enjoy the latest 3D games, movies, tv plays, etc. And here is the antutu benchmark screenshot result.
Hope it will be helpful for you to know more about this Leagoo shark 1.
You can see there is 31406 Antutu scores. It can beat most Xiaomi Smartphone. There is no problem to play the 3D games, watch tv without limits and stopping.
Camera
Leagoo Shark 1 has Sony 13MP BSI-2 sensor camera for the back camera, and 5MP camera for the selfies, or front camera. Of course, you can do the HD video calls by the front camera.
The front 5MP camera can offer five lenses and large f2.0 aperture.
Here are the details about the images as example you can see. And you can feel that the dual camera have taken the nice pictures clearly and crisply with the help of dual-tone LED flash. images look natural when shot in the dark and you don’t get those too bright photos. Front facing camera is very good as well.
Here are the pictures as examples:
Operating System
Leagoo Shark 1 runs Android5.1 Lollipop OS which has a flat interface which looks very professional. Of course, you can download the latest apps or games in the google play store. And it didn’t support OTA updated to Android6.0 Marshmellow OS.
Connectivity
Leagoo Shark 1 has dual SIM card, dual standby support which can let you enjoy 4G, 3G network freely. It can also support bluebooth 4.0 port. You can transfer the data with others.
Shark 1 has dual SIM, dual standby support which is excellent because many people have a personal SIM card and the other one for work. The device is 4G LTE network supported, and it has good signal strength. What’s more, it can support hotspot to share the data with others. But there is a flaw that it doesn’t support NFC function.
Battery
Leagoo shark 1 supports 6,300mAh battery. And the smartphone can last at least 72 hours for general using and you can watch online videos for 25 hours straight and listen to music over 49 hours.
It is simply amazing, and it is not even the best part of it. The best part would be its rapid charge LGQC v3.0 technology. It charges the phone in 3 hours (considering its massive battery, this is quite a feat) and you can use the device for a day after you charged it for only an hour.
Other features:
Leagoo Shark 1 supports various sensor like gravity, motion sensor, GPS, compass, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou, etc. So it’s very useful for you to make the position. You will never lost yourself in the strange place.
Leagoo shark 1 also has a fingerprint sensor, and it supports to unlock in 0.39 seconds which is very responsive and quite useful. it’s manageable.Shark 1 uses AWINiC K6 amplifier and offers pleasant and loud sound over the earphones and speaker.
In conclusion
Leagoo Shark 1 has nice design, large 6,300mAh battery, good quality, fingerprint ID, 64bit 4G LTE processor. But others think it’s too large in terms of the display, and it doesn’t support NFC, 4k video, therefore, in your opinion, Leagoo Shark 1 will your nice or first choice? Which aspect do you like best?
It looks like a bigger Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which is a good thing imho. Hopefully battery life will be great with those 6300mAh.
I'm really glad that the manufactures are starting to realize that we need bigger batteries! Looking forward for this device though

Which one is better between Shark 1 and Oukitel K10000? I love to get one
Thanks for your advice. I will go for Oukitel K10000. Does Oukitel K10000 has freezing or hanging issue?

If battery life is the most important thing to you, then get the K10000. It also has a very bright display. I've seen somewhere that Leagoo Shark 1 scores around 10-11 hours in PCMark Battery test while K10000 scores 29 hours. You can find reviews for both the devices at devicespecifications.com

Is Oukitel K10000 free from freezing or hanging ROM ? How smooth or fast is its ROM ? Most China made phones are plagued with freezing or hanging issue.
Dual stand by with MicroSD
Can I use 2 SIM cards with memory card together on Leagoo shark or there is same "problem" like on Oukitel K10000?
Can you please share the wallpapers found in this device? thanks.

Hang on FumiJ, i'm confused. In your 'real pictures' of the Leagoo shark, the bezel/border is waaaaay thicker than in any other photos i've seen, or the photos posted in this initial thread. It looks like a completely different phone. I can't get a straight answer out of leagoo about what the phone actually looks like. Are you sure these photos are of the same phone/version?

Hi,
I also bought one, But mine has a little bit trouble with focusing while taking a picture.
It is working fine while shooting a video, but whenever i try to take a picture, most of the time the picture gets a focusing issue (resulting in too much or too less light).

Leaked News:
OUKITEL is starting to work on a new smartphone named U20 Plus with dual camera design on back cover.
This is not the first device that designs two camera lens on the back. Other brands like Huawei, LG, HTC, Apple, Xiaomi already released some smartphones with dual rear cameras. OUKITEL is also joining this field to build dual rear cameras smartphones, but with most cost-effective price.
The model is named as U20 Plus, it will pack dual lens on the back, the main rear camera is powered by a 13.0MP (interpolated to 16MP) Sony IMX135 sensor. Combining superior hardware and optimized software with dual lenses, the U20 Plus will offer DSLR experience with more light and better clarity.
U20 Plus also offers the latest fingerprint sensor. Except for improving the unlock speed, OUKITEL will also pre-install more functionalities for fingerprint. It will divide long press fingerprint function and single tap fingerprint function.
A good camera ensures great photo and video quality, it would be more exciting if the display can show it in a perfect way. For showing the best effect, U20 Plus will get a 5.5 inch FHD display with 1080p resolution and adopting original SHARP glass for screen.
U20 Plus is planned to go to market at end of this month, and will be officially on www.oukitel.com next week.[/url]
Last week OUKITEL stated that they are releasing a new smartphone named U20 Plus with dual rear camera. Here comes more information about this new promising smartphone.
The most important feature of this device is the camera. It will pack dual-lens on the back with the main camera processing imaging and the secondary camera recording the image data, providing SLR shooting experience. The most obvious photo effect is that it will highlight the theme and blur background.
The main rear camera is adopting an original Sony IMX135 sensor. Originally it was planned to do 13MP mega pixels and interpolated to 16MP in software, but according to research among consumers, it's better to not use interpolation (finally). So this time U20 Plus will feature real 13MP Sony IMX135 camera and 5MP front camera, no interpolation.
Big battery is surely important for batter enjoy the device. U20 Plus will get 3300mAh big battery from SCUD with intelligent power consumption management.
According to OUKITEL sales team, U20 Plus will be the most cost-effective dual-lens smartphone. Presale is starts from this week.
Authorized stores will be listed on OUKITEL official website www.oukitel.com.

How to distinguish a real dual-lens camera and a fake dual-lens camera
Recently many brands like Huawei, LG, HTC, Apple, Xiaomi and others already released several smartphones with dual rear cameras. Other manufacturers are also following their steps to produce dual-lens cameras. The produced photo effect is surely great if you use a dual-lens camera because it can reach the levels of a SLR camera.
When we choose it, we need to be sure that it's a real one. But how do we distinguish it then? Here is the way.
Working principle: main camera processes the image, the secondary camera handles the image data. Frankly speaking, the main camera is for taking photos and secondary camera is for handling the photo effects like blur background, deduce noise, etc...
Difference between a real dual-lens camera and fake dual-lens:
a. Among Mediatek chipsets, only chipsets above MT6737T can support two cameras working at same time, so if the device has an MT6737 (not T) processor, then it can't support it.
b. The fastest way to judge: cover the secondary camera, the blur effect will disappear for a real dual-lens camera.
c. The dual lens will both open when working
All specs of U20 Plus have been added to the first post attached. More details can be found on OUKITEL official page.
Another great news is that U20 Plus already started wide pre-sale flash sale on OUKITEL Authorized Stores.
Someone say that the U20 Plus design looks like iPhone 7 plus, but if you see it clearly, you will find that they are different.
See the first video about the appearance design of U20 Plus below. At first sight, it indeed has the iPhone style because both of them design the dual-lens camera on the top left and both of them getting rounded back cover.
U20 Plus gets 3 colors: grey, champagne gold, rose gold. According to OUKITEL product team, they will most probably make a Jet Black color that is the same as the iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black. But, it will come later compared to the first 3 colors.
As already said, it features a dual-lens rear camera, and the main camera is Sony IMX135 (13MP) sensor, here ( https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B7cZ8nZJjxovaGUxY1dtT3VHQ3c?usp=sharing ) you can see several photos taken by U20 Plus. Notice the blurred background.
U20 Plus gets a 3300mAh big battery, but it is only 8.4mm for the body. Though the back cover is not metal, polycarbonated instead, the back cover should give you a wonderful hand feel.
U20 Plus is still on pre-sale for the moment, with flash sale. Authorized Stores can be found on OUKITEL Official website.
OUKITEL said that the final software is confirmed and real photos taken by the U20 Plus are now available.
In the video, they took photos in outside, in a room and during the night. They also compared the photos taken in normal photo mode and SLR mode. At the end, they took a short video of an aquarium. YouTube Default Compression has been used so it might be a bit better in real-life.
As already said many times, the U20 Plus has a dual-lens rear camera, with a 13MP Sony IMX135 primary sensor while the secondary rear camera is only 0.3MP, required to adjust the SLR effect. It also features a 5.5 inches FHD display from SHARP.
OUKITEL said that the U20 Plus is on mass-production starting from this week, if there is no issues, next week they will start normal shipments. Consumers who already pre-ordered will get it soon. Also, the Pre-Sale flash sale is still running in some stores, but in limited quantity.
OUKITEL has reworked the design of the U20 Plus smartphone, planning to add the popular Jet Black color version, which is the biggest change and totally different exterior color from all the old models.
Jet black back cover is glossy. The glossy surface is achieved by running the device through a complicated process required to achieve the stunning perfect glossy appearance and to produce a mirror-like effect. As far as we know, all the specs and features are the same with the other 3 colors variants.
The Jet Black color will go on pre-sale online by the end of this month. According to latest news from the OUKITEL's factory, they have already started producing champagne gold version on the 7th of December. Regarding the date for the other 2 colors, we will update it soon.
So, which one would you rather get? Jet Black, Gray, Rose Gold or Champagne Gold? Just post it here if you want.
OUKITEL U20 Plus Vs. Xiaomi Mi5S Plus Vs. iPhone 7 Plus - specs comparison
As we known, OUKITEL U20 Plus, Xiaomi Mi5S Plus and iPhone 7 Plus, all are the new products in 2016 that used the double camera module for an high quality shoot. Regarding which one is the best choice, check out this specs comparison.
For those who are planning to buy a new smartphone for the new year (2017), just comparing the pricing, the OUKITEL U20 Plus will not burn a hole in your pocket.
Great device - just ordered the Gray version.

Here unboxing video from me.
Introduction
This is the OUKITEL U20 Plus.
Hardware
This device is powered by a Mediatek MT6737T SOC clocked at 1.44GHz, the Full-HD capable variant of the MT6737 (standard variant supports maximum HD), together with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM. Unlike any other previous OUKITEL device, this features a Dual-Camera configuration, made of a 13MP rear main camera and 0.3MP rear secondary camera. Nothing special for the front camera, just a classic 5MP camera.
Unboxing
Packaging comes with some accessories: 1x Micro-USB Cable, 1x 5V/1A USB Charger, 1x Quick Start Guide, 1x Warranty Certificate, 1x TPU Cover and the Smartphone (of course). A screen protector is already applied (mine was scratched so you won't see it here).
This is the second device i review from OUKITEL using an Unibody Plastic Chassis and it feels pretty solid (not superb, it is still plastic), much better compared to the U7 Plus (same type of chassis). Something i do not like at all is the position of Volume/Power Keys, they are on the left side of the device.
It is 15.39x7.75x0.85cm, as big as the U7 Plus, with medium bezels. As regards its weight, well it is heavy considering the type of chassis. 193g are a bit too much.
On the front side there is the usual 2.5D Curved Display and the upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing Camera, an Earpiece, and the Sensors hole that includes Light, Proximity and Gesture Sensors. A Notification LED is here, but it only supports one color: green.
On the lower front side there is the Touch Keys area, with Menu, Home and Back touch buttons.
On the back side there is the unibody chassis, just like the U7 Plus.
The upper rear side of the device features the Dual-Camera Sensors supported by a single rounded Flashlight, and the compact, rounded, Fingerprint Scanner.
On the lower rear side there is just the OUKITEL logo because the Speaker is placed near the Micro-USB port.
Device
Screen
The screen is great, probably the best Full HD screen i have ever tried on a OUKITEL device. Color Temperature is slightly high, but not too much, and everything else is just fine.
Light Sensor supports smooth light changes, this is its maximum brightness. Ok, this isn't the brightest screen you can find on a device, but it is bright enough for any kind of usage.
Viewing Angles are good, just like on all IPS screens, nothing to complain here.
Camera
First of all i am not a professional photographer so my photos might look a bit messy, i do not know how to handle this Dual Camera system properly.
Photos taken using the standard photo mode are good, the usual noise level is here, but every single photos looks pretty detailed. The old Sony IMX135 (13MP) sensor still works great.
"HDR off" on the left and "HDR on" on the right.
Here you can see some photos taken using the SLR feature, "Standard" on the left and "SLR" on the right.
Flashlight is powerful enough, but sometimes it seems to be a bit too warm making photos look a bit yellow, just like my glove here.
Macro Photos look great, detailed and with vibrant colors.
As regards Video Recording, the camera is able to record 1080p Videos at 30FPS, and the quality is decent. Check my sample here.
Front Camera is not great, but neither too bad (GalaxyCore GC5005). Sufficient for Video Chats. It seems to be a Wide-Angle variant though. Here you can see a cat-selfie.
Audio
Starting from the Speaker, its volume isn't super-high and lacks low frequencies. Unfortunately this is something common with OUKITEL devices. (except the C3 and C4)
As regards the Microphone, it works great in any case (in-call, VOIP, etc...), and the earpiece is loud and clear.
GPS
The GPS on this device confuses me. Ok, it was cloudy when i have tested it (check this photo) but it is weird to see that outdoors is able to lock many satellites (just like all OUKITEL devices), while indoors it isn't able to see any. I don't know how to evaluate this result.
Weather Photo
Indoors on the left, outdoors on the right.
Telephony, Mobile Network & WiFi
Thanks to the 4G Band 20 support (some other Chinese Smartphones don’t have it), I’m almost always and everywhere connected to the 4G Network of my Mobile Network Provider (TIM Italy).
4G Network Speed is sufficient, it highly depends on your Mobile Operator and mine isn’t pretty good.
WiFi 5GHz is supported here, and its speed mediocre. Something that impressed me is the ping, lower than my Desktop PC.
Battery Life
I have measured the real battery capacity using my USB Tester, and it seems that the real battery capacity is a bit higher than the declared one. (declared 3300mAh, real ~3350mAh).
This is the Geekbench Battery Test, somehow the battery runtime is low, definitely not acceptable for a 3300mAh battery. I assume this is a software issue, so i hope to see some improvements with an OTA Update.
https://browser.primatelabs.com/battery3/393303
As regards battery charging times, the 5V/1A charger is pretty slow to charge this big battery, almost 3 hours. I don't know why, but OUKITEL doesn't seem to like fast chargers.
Software
Just like almost all OUKITEL devices, also this one uses a clean Android 6.0 OS with some minor customizations. I know, it doesn't have Nougat, but OUKITEL has already planned the update so don't worry about it. Anyway, it runs smoother than other 2GB RAM devices i have tested, this MT6737T CPU is great.
MiraVision is here, together with other Mediatek Features such as Smart Gestures (double tap-to-wake, etc...)
There is no Gyroscope or Magnetometer even though the software doesn't think so.
As regards the Fingerprint Scanner management, it is pretty easy to configure, pretty fast unlock times with almost no issues with its accuracy.
As you may notice, the fingerprint settings menu is full of nice options. Interesting additions compared to previous OUKITEL devices.
Benchmarks
I have used 3DMark, AndroBench, Antutu Benchmark, Epic Citadel, GeekBench 3, GFXBench, PCMark (Work 2.0, Computer Vision, Storage & Work 1.0) and Vellamo to stress the device to the limit. I won’t test Games or Video Playback because there are already some related tests included in these Benchmark suites.
3DMark – GPU Performance is interesting, compared to the MT6737M it is an huge improvement.
AndroBench – Mediocre eMMC Performance, Write Speed is lower than average.
Antutu Benchmark – I won’t say a lot about this benchmark, this isn’t as reliable as others. I’m providing this just for benchmarks lovers.
Epic Citadel – 3D Performance is a bit low, the Full HD screen isn't easy to handle.
GeekBench – CPU Performance is nearly as good as other CPUs with the same configuration (8x Cortex-A53), i would have expected an higher single core score.
CPU
Compute
GFXBench – GPU Performance isn't superb as regards OpenGL 3 tests, but decent for OpenGL 2.
PCMark – Compared to the MT6737M, this is an huge upgrade.
Work 2.0
Computer Vision
Storage
Work 1.0
Vellamo – I might have expected some higher scores here, just sufficient.
Luckily this MT6737T CPU seems to be the real alternative for low-end devices, it isn't as laggy as MT6737M, and is able to handle almost everything without major issues.
Conclusions
Surprisingly balanced device from OUKITEL, i'm not saying that the Dual-Camera is useful or not, but the device itself, with a great display, snappy user experience and fast enough CPU/GPU, makes it balanced.
I consider this Dual-Camera feature an extra that is good to have (for those who like it), and it works great even though i still have to test other devices with the same feature so i can't tell you if it is working better or not than others.
So, do I recommend it? Currently it isn't possible to find any other device that is able to beat this for the same price, so the answer is pretty clear. Yes!
Pros:
Dual-Camera Design
Good Camera Quality
Great Screen Quality
Decent Fingerprint Sensor
Best CPU/GPU Price-Performance Ratio
Surprisingly Cheap
Cons:
Screen Brightness might have been better
GPS Signal is weird, great outdoors, poor indoors
Single-Color Notification LED
Battery Life lower than average
Heavy for a Plastic Unibody Chassis

Super easy to root as soon as someone creates a full-working TWRP recovery.
And you're welcome, if there is anything missing in the review just tell me.
Hello,
I have the phone for 10 days,
It is of good quality, I am happy to use it. I just had a problem on the front camera that no longer works. I think it's a software problem because the front works well and when I want to use the front camera I have a black screen. I would like to reinstall the firmware but for now I do not find it.
Thanks for your review
OUKITEL U20 Plus features a dual-lens rear camera and has been on sale for a while, now we have got a tear down video to see what's inside the body.
Hello,

Hi all,
Got mine a few hours ago from Gearbest, because I thought that at 90€ it was a decent price.
I then chose DHL delivery because for only 6.50€ I could have it from 1 to 7 days.
Big mistake, I didn't knew DHL was passing all the packages to the customs, taking 15€ too, so I had to pay 29€ in taxes in total at delivery...Which is way less interresting at 90+6.50+29=125.50€ :crying:
Anyway, here's my 1st impressions :
The thing is ****ing heavy for a plastic phone !
Good point is it has a silicon cover on it, bad point is it seems to have a very weak signal strenght, mostly the GPS signal :/
Charger is damn slow, it's written 1000mA on it, but I won't be surprised if it's only 800mA...
Last point from my tests : can anyone confirm that this phone can't do nothing in VR ? I tried VR games, Youtube 360 vids, nothing is moving when I move the phone
For now, i won't advise this phone, the only good thing is the screen to me (oh, I forgot : the protective film is shorter than the screen, which is pretty frustrating when you slide your finger from border to center of the 2.5D screen...).

Different sources state different things. But it seems this device doesn't have a gyroscope hence VR isn't possible (or at least not traditional VR). For clarification simply test which sensors your phone has by using Sensor Box for Android (or whichever sensor recognizing app you prefer): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=imoblife.androidsensorbox&hl=en

Leaked News:
OUKITEL is starting to work on a new smartphone named C5 Pro with proper screen protection and all-metal frame.
Here you can see the first rendering of the C5 Pro. The texture printed back cover and the all-metal frame are pretty noticeable. The texture printed back requires more complicated procedure than any other battery covers. Also, the OUKITEL's factory, will do one more extra process to make the texture's print more clear and anti-abrasive. The all-metal frame is CNC crafted to make it more comfortable to handle.
The C5 Pro will come with a compact and handy body since it is designed with a 5-inch HD display for one-hand operation. According to the OUKITEL product team, it will use Asahi or Corning Glass for the screen to mitigate shocks efficiently and to make it harder against sharp scratches. It should have a 9H hardness and more than 800MPa stress value for the screen. (to be verified though)
As for the specs, the C5 pro is said to come with a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core 1.3GHz chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and 5.0 inch HD display.
Reserved
Stylish, Speedy and Strong! This is the new OUKITEL C5 motto. Tough and durable devices are attracting more and more attention and smartphone manufacturers are trying their best to improve the durability one after another. OUKITEL already leaked week ago that their next smartphone C5 Pro will feature a full-metal frame and anti-smash screen. Here you can see the full specs and price range of this model.
OUKITEL C5 Pro meets screen challenge
Smartphone manufacturers are paying more attention on the durability of smartphones. OUKITEL is one of them who is doing a good job in this field. Recently OUKITEL introduced another shock-proof smartphone C5 Pro.
It was said to feature a tougher build quality and fabulous hand feel. Today, OUKITEL's Official YouTube channel uploaded a new video of the C5 Pro. Several challenges were carried out to show the the device toughness.
Hit by an hammer, knocked nails into wood, dropped from top head, there is not any scratch or crack on it. C5 Pro screen has gone through several process to be toughened before putting into massive production. It passed several tests like dropping, slide dropping, twists, high temperature, low temperature, rolling tests, etc. to ensure the materials conform the quality standards.
Another good news is that hte OUKITEL C5 Pro will pack a silicone case as standard package. The silicone case is also special designed to protect the screen. With the silicone case, even with a drop on one of the 4 corners, it will survive. So users don't need to worry about the device from suffering damages by dropping.
OUKITEL C5 Pro has been already released on OUKITEL's official website, to know more, click here: http://www.oukitel.com/products/c/c5-pro-59.html . Presale flash sale will start next week. Authorized stores could be found on OUKITEL official store page.
Introduction
This is the OUKITEL C5 Pro.
Hardware
This device, an evolution of the great OUKITEL C4, is powered by a Mediatek MT6737 SOC clocked at 1.25GHz, just like its predecessor, together with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM. It features a 8MP (interpolated from 5MP) rear camera and a 5MP (interpolated from 2MP) front camera.
Unboxing
Packaging comes with some accessories: 1x Micro-USB Cable, 1x 5V/1A USB Charger, 1x Quick Start Guide, 1x TPU Cover, and the Smartphone (of course). Unlike the C4, there the TPU Cover is included here.
Talking about the dimensions, it is 14.46x7.22x0.98cm, not the smallest 5 inches device you can find. It weights 178g, similar to other metal devices.
The chassis is interesting, with rounded corners, solid metal and antenna bands (that should be useless with a Plastic Back Cover). The device feels rocking solid just like almost all OUKITEL devices, and doesn't have any minor design issue.
On the front side there is the standard 2.5D Curved Display and the upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing Camera, an Earpiece, and the Sensors hole that includes Light, Proximity and Gesture Sensors. No Notification LED is here, just like all C-series devices.
On the lower front side there is the Touch Keys area, with Menu, Home and Back buttons.
On the back side there is the removable back cover, with a 3D-textured surface that feels and looks great.
The upper rear side of the device features the small rounded Camera Sensor supported by a single Flashlight.
On the lower rear side there is the OUKITEL logo together with the nice Speaker holes.
Device
Screen
Screen Quality seems to be slightly worse compared to the C4, colors looks a bit washed out and the brightness isn't high at all.
The Light Sensor supports smooth light changes, with a proper auto-brightness management. This is its maximum brightness. There may be some issues under direct-sunlight.
Viewing Angles matches IPS screen capabilities, with no major issues.
Maximum 2 points are supported here.
Camera
Just like the C4, this C5 Pro features exactly the same camera sensors. A GalaxyCore GC5005 (5MP) for the Back Camera and another GalaxyCore (2MP) for the front camera. The result is almost identical, decent photos considering the price target. Of course this isn't a camera-focused device so do not expect miracles.
"HDR off" on the left and "HDR on" on the right.
Photos taken on medium light conditions are average, with an high amount of noise.
Something that isn't working properly is the flashlight, it is completely out of sync with the shot, and a result you get an almost dark photo. This is a Software Bug that OUKITEL MUST fix. Looking forward to an OTA Update.
As regards Video Recording, 720p videos are decent but with low framerate, starting from 15fps up to 25fps.
Front Camera records some barely sufficient photos that might be useful for Video-Chats or similar. It isn't a Wide-Angle variant.
Audio
Speaker Quality is slightly worse compared to the C4, it lacks low frequencies and also a bit of volume. Maybe they had to reduce the cost of the Speaker in order to provide the Metal Chassis, a bit disappointing considering that both C3 and C4 had such a great and loud speaker.
As regards the Microphone, it works decently well in any case (in-call, VOIP, etc...), and the earpiece is loud enough (maybe a bit too much) to be used in any condition.
GPS
GPS Signal is as good/bad as other MT6737M devices, nothing serious to complain about it.
Indoors on the left, outdoors on the right.
Telephony, Mobile Network & WiFi
NOTE: If you see "WIND" (Operator Name) on some screenshots, that's my secondary SIM with no Mobile Data, Signal and Speed Tests are made using my Primary SIM Card. This is used only for minor tests.
OUKITEL provides full european bands support, with 4G Band 20 (some other Chinese Smartphones don’t have it).
3G Signal Reception is accurate too, actually I never managed to get connected to the 2G Network of my Mobile Operator because there was always some 3G Signal available. (luckily there are no coverage issues here)
4G Network Speed is average, even though it highly depends on your Mobile Operator and mine isn’t pretty good.
WiFi 5GHz isn't supported here. With my 2.4GHz network, i was able to reach almost 39mbps, connected at 65mbps, with the same ping that i get on my Desktop PC.
Battery Life
As always, i have measured the real battery capacity using my USB Tester, and it seems that the real battery capacity is nearly exact compared to the declared value (declared 2000mAh, real ~1960mAh).
This is the PCMark Battery Test. Minimum Brightness, WiFi On, SIM Card Inserted and Active.
As regards battery charging times, the 5V/1A charger is enough for a normal charging runtime, but you can't expect super-fast times.
Software
Just like almost all OUKITEL devices, also this one uses a clean Android 6.0 OS with some minor customizations. I know, it doesn't have Nougat, but OUKITEL has already planned the update so don't worry about it.
Just like other last-gen Mediatek Devices, there are some typical features such as Gestures, Scheduled Power On/Off, etc…
I haven't noticed any lag/stutter while using this device, except the usual MT6737M animations issue that no one is able to fix.
Benchmarks
I have used 3DMark, AndroBench, Antutu Benchmark, Epic Citadel, GeekBench 4, GFXBench, PCMark (Work 2.0, Computer Vision, Storage & Work 1.0) and Vellamo to stress the device to the limit. I won’t test Games or Video Playback because there are already some related tests included in these Benchmark suites.
3DMark – GPU Performance isn't superb, lower than MT6735, i don't know why every MT6737 device has this Graphics Performance issue.
AndroBench – eMMC Performance is sufficient, Write Speed lower than average.
Antutu Benchmark – I won’t say a lot about this benchmark, this isn’t as reliable as others. I’m providing this just for benchmarks lovers.
Epic Citadel – As you can see, 3D performance is low. Not as good as MT6735, somehow lower than other MT6737 devices.
GeekBench – CPU Performance is nearly as good as other CPUs with the same configuration (4x Cortex-A53), enough to handle almost every type of activity.
CPU
Compute
GFXBench – As already said, GPU performance is lower than MT6735 so it clearly confirms that Mediatek broke something in this SOC.
PCMark – Sufficient Performance, nothing to complain about it.
Work 2.0
Computer Vision
Storage
Work 1.0
Vellamo – Just like other MT6737 devices, you can't expect high scores here.
Conclusions
Starting from the C3, the C-series devices from OUKITEL always impressed me, but this time, considering that the C4 was just enough even though it had a weaker build quality, i'm not as impressed or satisfied.
Compared to the C4, there are some upgrades and downgrades. More RAM/ROM together with a Better Chassis, but weaker screen and speaker compared to the C4. Anyway, just like almost OUKITEL devices, the price-quality ratio is unbeatable.
So, do i recommend it? If you have a C4 and you are satisfied with it, no, otherwise if you are searching for a low-end device with some decent hardware, then this might be a good choice.
Pros:
Impressive Metal Chassis
Extra RAM/ROM compared to the C4
Decent Battery Life
TPU Cover included
Cons:
No Notification LED
Worse Speaker Quality compared to the C4
Worse Screen Quality compared to the C4
2 Points only Touchscreen

Interesting to see there is little discussion about this phone, it does look great for the money. Is the battery like really OK? 2000mah seems small for 2017 :/

Just like all previous gen devices (C3 and C4), it doesn't seem that users who buy this kind of ultra-cheap devices are interested to join a community.
Well the battery is sufficient, there isn't much power to handle.

Don't worry, in reality the CPU is MT6737M, not MT6737. (otherwise we would get different performance results)

Did it go ok? Asking because the comments on Needrom are not all very positive about the update. But also notice that the comments are older; for previous versions of the update.
Is there a lot of Chinese crapware on this ROM?

No problems after intallation, everythinks seems ok.
This ROM if free of crapware and gots stock launcher (not pixel launcher), some menu haven't been translate (in French) but this not a problem.

Hi. Enjoyed the review. Just got myself one of these Oukitel C5 Pro.
Not sure if many people are following this thread. Happy to answer any questions or discuss this phone.
Have to say, so far, really disappointed in the camera. Is there anything can be done? My last phone was a Sesonn N9700 and pictures were MUCH better. Oukitel just seems really noisy, in all conditions? Anyone figured out some good settings, or is it just bad hardware?
Also interested in getting Android 7? Isn't this supposed to be available by Wireless update - I got a small fix update but still Android 6 ???? Will it become available? Should I use the version on NeedROM? Is this equally optimised/official? Given Oukitel are releasing Android 6 updates, is it better to stick with this for now??

Review (part 1)
Introduction
This is the OUKITEL K6.
Hardware
Coming as the first Helio P23 device ever released on the market (correct me if i am wrong), this new K6 should be the successor to the K6000 Plus. It could be easily considered as the second flagship, together with the MIX 2, from OUKITEL since the specs are not bad at all. It comes with 6GB of RAM, 64GB of ROM an
d an huge 6300mAh battery.
Unboxing
Unlike the K8000 reviewed before, this K6 comes with a whole new packaging that also looks more premium, even inside. The amount of included accessories is still the same: 1x Type-C USB Cable, 1x 5V/3A USB Charger (not sure whether this is a Pump Express charger or not), 1x User Manual, 1x SIM Card Removal Tool, 1x Warranty Certificate, 1x OTG Cable, 1x TPU Cover and the Smartphone (of course). A screen protector is already applied.
The K6 doesn't feature anymore a full-metal chassis found on the K6000, but they choose to go with a plastic back cover (not-removable) instead. That's a pity because it is something that makes a device more premium. Anyway, the plastic cover doesn't seem to affects its solidity too much, even though i can notice some minor imperfections where the plastic touches the metal body. Also, i will never understand the need to remove the 3.5mm Headphone Jack on thick devices. There are just no valid reasons that would justify this, and i am not the only one to think the same.
As a battery phone with a 5.99" 18:9 screen and 6300mAh of battery, it is almost obvious to not expect a compact device. It is 15.8x7.61x1.08cm with a weight of 263g, really heavy considering the size. I don't understand why it is so heavy considering the plastic back cover.
This is probably one of the most complete devices i have ever reviewed, since it includes both Front Flashlight and Notification LED (RGB) on the upper front side while still keeping the reasonably thin bezel. Of course there is also a Front Camera, the Earpiece and Light/Proximity sensors.
Nothing to complain about the Notification LED, it is really bright and RGB.
On the lower front side there isn't anything at all.
As regards the back side, it features, as already said, a plastic non-removable cover with a nice-looking light effect. Still, it is plastic so expect to scratch it easily. I may recommend to use a screen protector also on the back in order to not ruin the effect.
The upper rear side of the device features the Camera Sensor with a Dual-LED - Single-Tone Flashlight on the left, and a Fingerprint Scanner just below.
Just like most latest devices, there isn't anything important except the OUKITEL logo on the lower back side.
Device
Screen
Compared to the MIX 2 5.99" 18:9 screen, the one used on the K6 is, in my opinion, not as good as i would have expected. Colors look slightly washed out even after some calibration using MiraVision, and i can notice a minor smearing effect while scrolling menus. It seems to be a common issue for this kind of rounded screens, since i found a similar issue on another device reviewed some weeks ago, so it might be a software issue or just a limit of this first gen of panels. Hopefully in the future this will only get better.
Nothing to complain about the light sensor, and the screen brightness is high enough for a sufficient visibility under direct sunlight.
The rounded corners do not seem to affect viewing angles at all, as good as they should be on a IPS panel.
Camera
Identical to the MIX 2, this K6 features a Samsung 16MP rear camera sensor that, together with the new Helio P23 ISP (Image Signal Processor), does seem to provide some great shots. HDR works decently, and the amount of image noise is not too high, as long as the available light is high enough of course. An overall good result.
Also the Flashlight seems to work properly, no out-of-sync issues neither lack of light. Powerful enough, maybe a dual-tone variant would have been better.
Excellent results as regards the Camcorder. Videos are recorded in 1080p30 with a really stable framerate, no stuttering and high image quality. Currently the best Mediatek device ever tested in this area.
The front-camera sensor is, unfortunately, unknown (was not able to obtain the codename) but it should be an 8MP camera sensor interpolated to 13MP. Thanks to the Flashlight, it is possible to obtain some pretty decent shots even in low-light conditions. Pretty average quality.
Audio
It is pretty common for most smartphone to not feature a really powerful speaker, especially with latest models where, due to the bezels reduction, the space for a big chamber is slowly decreasing. This K6 is not exception. It doesn't feature a really loud speaker unit, but the sound is clean and there is a minor amount of low frequencies.
Unfortunately though, just like on the MIX 2, the Earpiece seem to produce a slightly distorted sound at highest volume. This is where the lack of a proper sound chamber is noticeable. Anyway, it is loud enough.
Nothing to complain about the Microphone, it is properly calibrated, and the lack of a secondary microphone does not seem to affect much the quality. Perfectly usable for calls and video recording.
GPS
Excellent results for the GPS. An high amount of satellites gets locked, even indoors.

Telephony, Mobile Network & WiFi
The device is meant to be used with European Networks (Band 20 included), just like most Chinese devices that are sold with EU Plug chargers. As regards the signal, i was not able to find any issue or lack of network connection, and the speed test run on 4G confirms it. Not a bad result.
For some reason, Mediatek keeps providing a WiFi N-only card even for last-gen mid-range chipsets, thus there is no WiFi AC support on this device. Still, 5GHz WiFi N networks are perfectly working. Connected to my home network, the device is able to use my internet bandwidth completely.
Battery Life
Starting from the Battery Capacity, i was not able to confirm the 6300mAh battery capacity declared by OUKITEL, instead i get a result of ~6090mAh. They declare a minimum of 6000mAh, but a typical of 6300mAh is definitely unrealistic considering it (it is usually ~100mAh higher from the min, not that much).
Battery Life is just outstanding compared to the previous gen Helio P20/25. The PCMark Battery Life test provided a result of 22 hours and 5 minutes, able to last at least two days of heavy usage (or one if you don't sleep...just kidding). Test run at minimum brightness, with WiFi on and Sync on.
OUKITEL seem to be really proud of the choice to use a 5V/3A charger (Pump Express 3?) for this device. They are not alone, OnePlus also uses a 5V charger with even higher current. Based on some testing made by external websites, this reduces the device temperature while keeping the charging speed high. Is it really making a difference compared to a standard up to 12V quick charger? Well, i was not able to notice that much difference as regards the charging speed, but the device felt noticeable cooler to the touch.
Software
Different from previous devices reviewed in the past, this is the first one that comes with Android 7.1 instead of 7.0, probably due to the newer BSP provided by Mediatek for the Helio P23. Unfortunately it isn't Android 8.0 Oreo, but i guess it will be updated really soon.
The OS is clean, there is no bloatware pre-installed excluding a third-party keyboard that can be disabled, and it runs pretty smooth with no lags neither slow-downs.
Something even more interesting about this K6 is the NFC Antenna. As far as i know, this is the first time OUKITEL implements this feature, so well done for this choice. Unfortunately i can't test Android Pay here in Italy so...i need your user feedback about its compatibility.
All Mediatek Goodies such as MiraVision, Gestures (double-tap to unlock included) and others are included.
An extra feature has been included with this model: Face ID/Face Unlock. How does it work? It just uses the front facing camera to recognize your face, do not rely on it if you care about your device's security. Period (also clearly written in the warning).
Both Gyroscope and Magnetometer/Compass are present.
No malwares detected with Malware-Bytes Anti-Malware using latest definitions.
As regards the Fingerprint Scanner, it is really accurate, but slightly slow. Personally, i prefer accuracy more than speed, but if an OTA Update will be able to speed-up the reading process, it would be even better.
Review (part 2)
Benchmarks
I have used 3DMark, AndroBench, Antutu Benchmark, GeekBench 4, GFXBench, PCMark (Work 2.0, Computer Vision, Storage & Work 1.0), V1 - GPU Benchmark Pro and Vellamo to stress the device to the limit. I won’t test Games or Video Playback because there are already some related tests included in these Benchmark suites.
3DMark – Even though this Helio P23 comes with a new-gen Mali-G71 GPU, it is less powerful compared to the one found on the Helio P25. Not a bad result, but pretty average.
AndroBench – No words about this result, it is just outstanding for an eMMC 5.1.
Antutu Benchmark – I won’t say a lot about this benchmark, this isn’t as reliable as others. I’m providing this just for benchmarks lovers.
GeekBench – For some reasons, it fails to get an internet connection. To know more: http://support.primatelabs.com/discussions/geekbench/23518-not-internet-connection-detected
GFXBench – This benchmark is just too much for not high-end devices.
PCMark – Somehow this benchmark gets higher results compared to the Helio P25. As i always say, software optimizations are more important compared to raw performance, and this is the proof.
Work 2.0
Computer Vision
Storage
Work 1.0
V1 - GPU Benchmark Pro – Using the Snapdragon 820 preset, 3D performance seem to be a bit low for really heavy games. Consider to reduce graphics quality for a smoother experience.
Vellamo – Overall good results considering the CPU, somewhere in between the MT6750T and the Helio P25.
Conclusions
Being the first devices ever released by OUKITEL with such high specs, together with the MIX 2, i am not so surprised to see that some areas are not as good as they should have been. They always focused on battery life more than performance, and this new strategy can only help them to get better and better, device after device.
This is an overall good device, i like the thin bezels and also the new Helio P23 that seems to be way more power efficient compared to previous alternatives provided by Mediatek. Still, the lack of an headphone jack on such a thick device is really non-sense.
I recommend it to those looking for a battery phone that features almost everything, with no great requirements for gaming.
Pros:
Android 7.1 instead of the usual 7.0
NFC Support
Notification LED
Gyroscope & Magnetometer/Compass
Excellent Battery Life
Cons:
No 3.5mm Headphone Jack (adapter-only)
Not released with Android 8 Oreo
Noticeable smearing effect while scrolling menus/pages
Really heavy considering the plastic back cover
Requires longer than standard USB plugs
