Any running apps that work with the heart rate sensor? - Huawei Watch

I can't find a single running app that will take heart rate while running with android wear. Am I missing something here? Anyone recommend any apps? On my Apple watch, I can run and have a constant heart rate displayed. Looking for something similar for android.
Thanks.

I just got an update to RunGPS which says that the update has a setting for continuous hr monitoring for android wear. When I go into settings sure enough there is new check box. I haven't been able to try it yet. Will let you know if it works.

Well, RunGPS didn't improve things. Not that I really thought it would, it's a problem with the watch. It did read continuously, for 5 minutes, then if froze and just stayed there.

yeah, I actually called Huawei and asked them about this, and they said that if I was linking to an android phone instead of an iphone it would be able to do continuous. Apparently not. I joined this site hoping to find instructions for hacking it to be able to get continuous HR monitoring. I like having one device for all this, and since I pedal to work, use Strava and My Fitness Pal to track my fitness, I would like to have an HR monitor I don't have to fuss with. I can barely even get it to read my HR at all, since it never seems to have a good read, even pressed tight against my wrist.

I tried Heartrate OS but it stopped working and I tossed it for Cinch. (It's called Cinch Weight Loss and Fitness.) You can get Cinch to give you every five minutes but not continuous. To be honest, the battery on the Huatch can't handle continuous anyway. Drains it too fast.

One if the big problems with the readings is to get it tight enough. Mine which came with the leather band couldn't get really tight, but then I got a rubber band for workout and it's great ?

[Q] Possible to access heartbeat monitor with other apps?

Is it possible to access the Moto 360 heartbeat monitor with other Android apps? I'm interested in using the M360 with Runtastic to also track my heart rate, instead of buying Runtastic's own hardware. Or any other app that allows me to track my jogging and include in the heart sensor.
From what I'm read about the M360, it looks like the heart sensor is only used by the watch and nothing else really makes use of it.
I've love to have a continuous measurement of my heart rate while jogging and have it tracked with an app along with the phone GPS data. I wouldn't even mind if it drained battery faster as long as it lasted for 4hrs or so.
I think once all these apps start taking full advantage if Android Wear and Google Fit they will be able to pull the HRM data. At least, that is what I'm hoping.
Sent from my LG-LS995 using Tapatalk
I hope so too!. I guess we'll have to wait a month for Android L and everything else to come out and settle down. I'd love to use the M360 doing exercises and not have to use one of those chest bands.
APIs....
I guess IFTTT guys may provide you with a recipe that triggers the heart monitor to the google drive channel so that you can post your heartbit to a spreadsheet or something...we will see...

This app does it for the gear live: Heart Rate Trainer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=portablepixels.heartratetrainer
I assume one can be developed for the moto 360.
I've been using this watchface for a few days on my Moto 360, it seems to work fine: the watchface displays real time heart rate info, along with actual time and HR measurement accuracy).

The UI has nothing fancy, but it gets the job done, and that means that we can expect other developpers to be able to write similar watchfaces, including (I hope) the editors of our favorite fitness applications!

Surfing is a no go

I was wondering when and if this would happen. Lasted about 6 months and through about 9 surf sessions. This was session 10. I have a surf watch, but forget to swap it out sometimes. The funny thing is that it still works great, just lost a third of the screen. The damage was about a third more two days ago, but has receded a bit since then. Hope version 4 is a little more waterproof. Still love this watch. [emoji106]

On the SWR50 webpage (at SmartWatch 3 SWR50), Sony is very clear about sea water:
The SmartWatch 3 is water and dust protected as long as you follow a few simple instructions: you can’t take the SmartWatch 3 deeper than 10m of water and for longer than 30 minutes; and the water should be fresh water. Casual use in chlorinated pools is permitted provided the SmartWatch 3 is rinsed in fresh water afterwards. No seawater and no salt water pools. Abuse and improper use of device will invalidate warranty. The SmartWatch 3 has an Ingress Protection rating of IP68.

I had no doubt that the seal would fail at some point. Like I said, the salt water exposure was unintentional. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. It still works great, and I'm looking forward to the day that a true sports smartwatch comes our way.

A sports watch ought to be salt-water proof. If for no other reason than to protect against sweat. I hope the SmartWatch 4 will correct this problem.

Yeah, well I have accidentally dipped my watch in the ocean a few times, but not submitted it to this kind of abuse. However, this thread has me thinking about making a waterproof housing for windsurfing. That could be quite nice. Just a thought.

Yeah, I have thought about hat, but though I do not go deep, when I get pitched, and I do get pitched a lot, there is a lot of force involved. So, I wonder about the risk.

I hope you are kidding.
I am using this smartband since 2 weeks. I am not able to say if distances, steps or calories are accurate. Battery lasts 6 days more or less.
I would like to ask a question to others that uses the app iWOWNfit (iphone) : there is a goal setting section in the app, where you can insert the sport activities you'll probably perform during the week, this activities never complete themselves, even if I start the activity manually by the band Training section. If someone uses it please give me some hint.
Bye.

Hi,
didn't find that too. Also didn't find an option to turn off heart rate monitor to save power.
Maybe in one of the next firmware versions...

It is no official way for that. But I had no reports about need to change it.
order one and can't wait to try it out.
i can read the arabic message
Recently got the band, overall it's good, measures everything correctly. Unfortunately the app is horrible, drains the battery and is nearly useless. Even though the band itself records the sleep, steps and heart rate 24/7, the app has no way to show the previous day's recordings on the sleep and heart rate. Calories target on the app seems useless, if the band goes out of range - it doesn't reconnect to the app.
try the english mod of the latest Chinese app (zeroner health 4.0)...It's a lot better...
http://www.mediafire.com/?qcejvc1pw4cq3gp
Yes, translated Zeroner 4 and IwOwnfit 4 much better, but chinese software sucks at all I'm waiting for full support of this band by this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.wilix.device.geekbracelet
For now it lacks some functionality but works much better: only controller sending data to GoogleFit, not duplicating GF features.
I cannot make it work...It scans for the device (i6 pro) but cannot find it....

Maybe Iwown for Geek is not implemented for I6 pro?

Maybe, your band is already connected to other app like zeroner?

Is there anyway to get my phone to display my HR readings from watch in real time?

So I used to have Xiaomi Mi Band 3 that could do that with an app you download from Play. Is there anyway that makes this possible on GW? It was very convenient being able to see your HR reading in real time while rowing/using eliptical so that effort could be adjusted in order to remain in the aerobic area. And if there isn't such a way to do that currently, is it possible to make such an app? In other words, does Tizen allow apps on Android to access HR readings in realtime? I have an okey experience with programming and would gladly spend my free time to make that possible if no one already did.
Thanks in advance.
tried any hr watchface yet?

I haven't been able to find a way. Here's a thread that's been out there for a bit longer with more replies. Half the people who reply are confused on what is meant, and no one else seems to have an answer. https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/gear-s3/displaying-heart-rate-phone-t3555867
Fitbit handles this natively right on their dashboard in the phone app, it's disappointing that Samsung can't have this same functionality.
I would love to see an app that does it. Would be great if it also had a short term history graph of the heart rate too.

I found a way to do this from my Galaxy Watch Active using "Heart Rate and Speed Transmitter for Zwift and Arcade Fitness" from the Galaxy Store https://galaxystore.samsung.com/geardetail/org.bipr.hrspeedtransmitter which broadcasts your heart rate over BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). Once you have that running and your device paired in Bluetooth, you can use "Heart Rate Monitor" from the Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bmi.hr_monitor

You can also do this to a PC by using "Heart Beat Monitor" from the Microsoft Store https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/heart-beat-monitor/9wzdncrdkw2v?activetab=pivot:overviewtab This one seems a little buggy on getting it to work, but it does the trick once you get it running.

Question Pixel watch 2022, thoughts.

Just popped up on Google feed there for me, this is what iv been wanting a full pixel eco system, having G assist on a watch would be like perfect!
What's your thoughts and expectations on this?
If there's another thread for this my bad
Since they dropped almost every new device because of the chip shortage, I wouldn't get my hopes too high. I remember 9to5 making a lot of news about the Pixel Fold, only to have other Tech sites 3 weeks later claim that it's a dead product for now.

I think they might go for it considering the amount of pixels they are selling atm it only makes sense for them to now have an eco system for it, they already have there own operating system for it wearos, so I hope they do

1) I run google free. The presence of the "assistant" was the part of the google spyware system that finally convinced me that it was time to get rid of it all. You should be very cautious about allowing anyone to spy on you. Read some George Orwell -- what they are ACTUALLY doing now was at that time seen as an unbelievable overstep.
2) I stopped wearing watches when I got my first cell phone. Why do I need to carry two things that do the same thing? The phone is a lot more convenient since it has a much bigger screen.
The whole idea of a "smart watch" is a gimmick. Don't fall into it.
Google might get into the smart watch game to compete with Apple and Samsung. I mean, it is logical. It is a good move to get into that market. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple starts making electric cars.
Oh good...another half baked device.
As long as I can sideload the Google Assistant to my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic I'd be happy
Maybe find an app that can rebind my HW Keys to replace Bixby too

That would be very frightening. They are not good at things that are complicated. If it happens, I'll be trying to come up with some means of detecting them (i.e. 360 degree visual) and alerting me when one is getting close so I can keep well clear of it.

True. But it has been reported that at least 5,000 employees are currently working on the project code name Titan, as of 2018. Willing to take the risk to overtake Tesla

I wish people could figure out that electric cars are not as "environmentally responsible" as they're made out to be. The reason Musk makes them comes down exclusively to the fact that you can't run an internal combustion engine on Mars. Tesla is a hell of an R&D lab for that.
