Moto 360 1st gen spot top left of screen - Moto 360

I have a spot on the top left of my watch and it's always there no matter where I go. When I click it, it brings up a small set of icons. Is there any way of changing this? Just got it and I'm not that familiar with it still.

Might be some 3rd party app. Have you checked your downloaded apps for any unknown apps/an app that could cause this? Also this reminds me of the MIUI floating button, what rom are you on? ^^

It looks like the show-touch icon... but that was disabled on Moto 360 due to the OMAP3 processor having issues with it.
I would do a factory reset. Doesn't hurt, particularly if you have done several upgrades since 1.0W.

I concur, but I don't see any easy way to purge that. Hence why factory reset may be the easiest fix.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. The factory reset took care of it.

Same problem.
I am having the exact same issue on my Moto 360 after just resetting this weekend. I have rebooted several times. I will try resetting again later tonight, but I wanted to post it here to document another occurrence of this strange issue.

After resetting my watch yet again, I finally figured out the culprit. It is an (annoying) "feature" called "Assistive Touch" of the popular "Wear Mini Launcher" app (which I generally love) that can easily be disabled by going into its Behavior options.

I say that previously

New firmware v. 1.0.B.6.30

I just got a new firmware for the SW2, 1.0.B.6.30 it has new watches faces and a new function to switch clock faces swiping left or right with the clock turned on (by that I mean, when you press the button and the watch display gets brighter)
It also has a new "Do not disturb" option that silences every notification that comes to the clock.
My watch has crashed (and reset itself) four times now since installing the update.
Which is a big pain!
I wonder if the number of widgets I have on the watchfaces is causing it to struggle.
Anybody else experienced crashes?
No.
restarting
i have tha same problem in two watches i have.after the update tha watche is restarting and restarting showing the logo and the boot loading line.then restat and tha same loop.what is going on?!:crying:
Same for me and all date widget in custom watchface do not works.
I uninstalled the exposed module for overwrite widget position, hope this solve ?
Same issue here, I just replaced my widgets and all I well now. The update seems to have messed up the setup I had.

I have many many .... crash, reset and reboot
I think also, SW2 have memory issue and problem with number of face and widgets.
Since yesterday I use only ONE custom watchface and selected only ONE face in SW2 system face and not THREE (deselect all and keep only one marked). Since I have only one face since the last reset/reboot my SW2 has not crashed or reset/reboot .....
this new update is really unstable ineed, lots of spontaneous resets
the fact it broke all kind of watch faces really sucks
been trying to contact Sony, but as usual, they don't give a **** and do not respond at all, really pisses me off
oh and i hate the new notification style, font is smaller, makes it harder to read

Broken 3rd party Widgets - How to "go-back" to prev firmware??
The latest firmware update has broken third-party widgets in a bad way, primarily some icons in 3rd party widgets are appearing as corrupted images and some elements are blank, such as the "DATE" element. The "MONTH" element shows up just fine but the "day of the month" (i.e. date) in the date field is blank now. I've read about other issues from others where analog display widgets aren't right. I can confirm that NeFa Studio's Watchface Widgets app has many corruptions due to the latest firmware update and reinstalling the SW2 and 3rd party widget apps doesn't fix it.
I've tried going back to a previous version of "SmartWatch 2" apk, but the SW2 is protected against down-grading by this method. The Smartwatch-2 app will say "Cannot communicate with SW2, Upgrade required". The only way to get them to communicate again is by re-installing the version of software that caused the problems in the first place.
Is there a "FACTORY FIRMWARE" reset or a means to "GO-BACK" to a previous firmware on the watch. I've investigated the use of DFU but I've read about a lot of people bricking their SW2 so I want to be absolutely certain the procedure works flawlessly and have a good DFU backup from before 12/17/14 before I'll try it.
Any suggestions? I emailed Sony to plead for a down-grade option even if they only put it up on their support website.

Does it really works? Anyone can prove it?
I have the Sony Z3 along with the SW2 and ever since the update, the smart connect app force closes. it cant connect to my phone anymore. it just vibrates every 2-5 seconds.
@BmagicDaBeast: Try clearing the cache on SmartConnect and Smartwatch 2 apps. If that doesn't work, try clearing both the cache and data on both. I can't remember which one worked for me but I had the same problem initially and one of those procedures cleared it up.

"selecting the previous model", what does that even mean?
the previous model smartwatch made by Sony?
the previous firmware?

I gathered that the poster meant the original Sony Smartwatch model because "there is no SW2 there".

Going from very stable and working to a shambles.........not happy
Even better after new update
Delighted to know that Sony is not forgetting its SW2 even after launching the flagship SW3.... The watch got even more stable now....,
Question: Any possibility for keeping watch in Always On mode, i.e. I want its LCD to stay on for like 5-6 hours..

Unfortunately Android Wear has stopped

My wife's moto360 has recently stopped working. She woke up today and was greeted with a white screen that said "Unfortunately, Android Wear has stopped." Clicking Ok brings you to the watch face which hangs for a few seconds and then returns to this screen. During this period you cannot navigate the watch at all.
I have tried the following to resolve the issue but none of them have solved it.
1) Rebooted the watch by holding the button for 30 seconds.
2) Rebooting the phone.
3) Turning off bluetooth on the phone.
4) Uninstalling android wear.
5) Unpairing the watch and the phone.
Right now it looks like the watch is basically a brick. Has anyone else seen this? Is there a way to factory reset the watch without having to go through the menus on the watch (i.e. from a phone app for example).
I ended up fixing this. Basically I had to repeatedly mash the button on the side while trying to scroll the screen and dismissing the error prompt. Eventually I was able to get to the settings screen which then allowed me to select the reset (which factory resets the device).

Clearing cache of Android wear app on phone helped. Restarted watch as a safe side measure. Everything fine now.
I have exactly the same problem now. But I can't solve it with you metod. Any clue of how can I fix this? Thank you!!!
Mine just started doing this as well. Tried just about everything I have seen on the internet so far to fix it and nothing has worked.
+1. Woke up and found the screen as OP described. I have tried everything except factory resetting the watch. I can't get into the menu long enough to do it. As soon as I hit the OK button the "Android Wear has stopped" screen pops back up within about 1 second. The GUI doesn't respond well enough for me to get to the factory reset.
update: Finally managed to get to the factory reset. The watch rebooted, but did not factory reset.
I gave up and am RMAing it.
for me it worked after lots of resets... but had to start all over again then.... dont know why this happened

I just bought my Moto 360 all excited to get my Android Fanboyism to the next level.
The first thing I did was try to update my Android Wear version.
And This is when I start getting the error..
It keeps saying google play services crashed.
google apps crashed..
Someone help..
I know it's a pain, but I ended up RMAing mine. I took my aftermarket band off and just sent it back in the original box with nothing else. They very quickly shipped me a refurb (which appeared to be new). It came in a brand new box with full accessories (charging cable/stand and band). A few days of inconvenience but well worth it. Got the new watch, updated to the latest and it's been running smooth.
i just got this message today!! i cannot interact with the GUI no matter what i tried.. i tried all possible steps except factory reset cause i can't get to it...
IM kinda SOL cause i bought this in the US when it launched and I am in Canada... : < sigh... this totally BLOWS
I tried several times to get to the reset... No luck, Motorola agreed to replace it for free.
Same here ... No luck in accessing settings for factory reset ... going to send it to RMA

Just wanted to say thanks, because I've been experiencing a similar issue, and I just filled out the RMA for mine. It's been freezing and overheating so bad I have to take it off for awhile. I can live a few days without it.
I think you need to contact with the service center as soon as possible.
I had this same thing and the only solution was to RMA. Goty new 360 in less than a week.
So I got my new 360 in the mail, brand new in retail packaging, and even came with an additional charger. (YIPEE one for work!!) However it's started doing the same thing!! "Unfortunately Android wear has stopped wait, close" No matter how many times I hit close it reappears. I have to hard reset it every time. I took it off the charger 2.5 hours ago at 100% and its down to 52% already because of this. (Once again thankfully I have the extra charger now). I don't understand the issue. My boyfriend's 360 has the same software version and does not have any problem whatsoever. He's also able to change the colors while on the dock and neither of mine would do it (the old or the new). I have tried every color in the settings on my phone and it stays blue. I am beyond frustrated here. IDK what is going on!! Oh we both have Nexus 6 phones too, so I don't think it has to do with that.
I think I'm going to try flashing a different ROM to my phone, and factory resetting. Maybe **sigh** maybe that'll work...

So I'm pretty sure I narrowed my issue down to watchmaker. I asked my BF if he still uses the watchmaker watch faces and he said no. So I took it off, and started using the regular MOTO watch face. I have not had any errors in 2 weeks. I'm about to install a new ROM on my phone again today, so I may re-install it to see if the issues resurface. If they do I will be contacting the developer, as I have the paid version of the app.

New recalled Note 7 - Issues with Media/Lag/Wifi/Heat

Hey all,
I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with my Note 7 (recall replacement one).
1. It lags like HELL! I've done all the animation scaling off/force GPU rendering etc, but I shouldn't have to. Just a simple thing like pulling down the notification bar noticeably lags every couple of times.
2. I use Android Auto, which I always have to reconnect manually to use (never did on the S7).
3. When listening to Spotify over Android Auto, I occasionally get stutter/glitches in the sound. Once the glitch was so bad the phone froze and it had to be reset.
4. The thing gets hot. Annoyingly hot, even if I'm just browsing Chrome, or reading G-mail etc. It's not like I'm gaming!!
5. WiFi is very sporadic. The connection is rock solid, but often it will be downloading an app...sit at 100% of download and progress no further. This happens quite frequently.
With all the above, (bar number 2), none of it applied to the pre-recalled Note 7.
I'm frustrated to say the least. Does anyone else get any of this whatsoever? I can't go through not having a phone again, or sending this for what Samsung will insist on a repair. This phone is jinxed and I'm gutted.
Any suggestions (bar a hard reset haha) will be greatly received.
PS. I have disabled loads of apps with the AppDisabler to try and help it along but I think there's an issue with the RAM or some of the internal modules (at a guess). Thanks all
I have just managed to reduce the lag quite a bit by uninstalling Samsung Good Lock (which was forced upon me earlier today)! I liked it, but serious lag creation!
Did you use Smart Switch to change phones? I've found quite a few apps don't like to be transferred. Android Auto apps don't move right via Smart Switch and I had to uninstall/reinstall them.
Be careful what you disable. Some of Samsung's seemingly benign system apps are called by other apps and if they don't respond are constantly polled. That could cause a lot of background processes and may be a source of your overheating. My pre-exchange phone did what you're describing the first couple of days after I set it up. It would maybe once or twice a day get blocky when scrolling as if something was running in the background. The (U.S.) PH1 update made it go away. But we're S-820 in the U.S. and I think you guys are Exynos. So different problems different solutions.
Thanks for your reply Barry. Actually not Smart Switch, but I let it restore my 100+ apps from my previous Note 7 (near the end of the initial set up). The apps were downloading but strangely, every so often nothing was happening after they'd reached 100% downloaded, just before "installing..." (over WiFi). I cancelled that specific app and the restore continued (this happened over and over). Turning WiFi on and off sorted it temporarily but I couldn't download more than 3/4 without this really strange issue.
I also observed the longest lag ever! I went into the OS update screen, pressed update and the device didn't respond. 5 mins later while doing something completely different, the update screen popped up about 12 times (as I'd pressed it 12 times 5 mins previously). This happened again after a reboot too!
Now, I've just bitten the bullet and performed a hard reset. This time the WiFi seems great, although now I'm speculating that it was getting stuck at 100% post download perhaps because the security thing was having trouble scanning it for malware prior to install.
I also take your note re:disabling stuff! I'm going to do something unheard of and just try it stock for a bit and see how it goes. For such amazing hardware, the fact my note 3 was running 10 times smoother means something drastic is going on. I hope this hard reset is the end of it!
Chances are the hard reset won't do anything, though I hope you have better luck than I did. I went through three phones (on my 4th). I did the hard reset as soon as I picked up the 2nd handset and onward before I did anything with the phone. Sadly you should not have to disable anything, the phone should just work for 900.00. Some will say otherwise.. Wi-FI is good for me but the reception is garbage. On various phones with T-MO including other android devices that colleagues have - they get 4/5 bars and usually double the download speed on Speedtest. The head I had on the first I don't get as bad on this one. But the lag I do...
Did you get the update from your provider as well?
I just picked up my replacement Sprint Note7 today so not much time with it though seems identical except 1 small issue. I had my first Note 7 rooted, Viper4Android and Dolby Atmos flashed along with Xposed and it worked flawlessly. The replacement Note fails with binary invalid using the exact same odin version, Sun7 systemless root etc that I have on my pc from the first Note 7 and the second Note 7 was given to me not updated, in other words its on the exact same firmware as the first one!
I am very proficient with rooting, adb, etc and this has me baffled.
Has anyone successfully rooted a replacement N930p that came with PH9? using freeza's guide?

Yea disabling seems like a great idea at first but it actually creates problems. I run it completely as is except uninstalling the preloaded games. Didnt disable anything. Disabling stuff caused massive lag on my note 5 and same with note 7.
Thanks chaps.
I've gotta say, the hard reset has made the world of difference. Which to me is strange, I've never had to hard reset a new device, but it's done the trick.
Regarding the disabling of services, there must be *some* that are safe to disable? I agree if you're tinkering with potentially integral things like S-Voice it's not a good idea. But then stuff like OneDrive surely that's okay? Maybe, things like the Disabler package are a bad plan. You can disable software by default without it, but only certain apps. Maybe that's why Samsung prevent the disabling of certain bloat...?

That's cool. I have no interest in Gear VR.
I have heard somethings about latest version of chrome causing batt drain, could possibly contribute to lag also, I cant tell much as I am expecting my note 7 exchange, but I have seen some posting about it
Have no problems when I used package disabler and chose "disable all bloat"...but after doing that, I looked through the list and enabled around 3 to 5 that I thought didn't need disabling.
No problems since.
Oh...that option doesn't disable facebook, messenger, hangouts etc. So if you don't use those, you need to add them.
Thanks all. Well, after all that, and a hard reset my phone is running perfectly again. Then, this morning I received this from Oculus...
"We recently pushed an Oculus Software update that has inadvertently caused some people to experience phone performance issues."
I haven't put my phone into my Gear VR since the hard reset and I can almost guarantee it was that blimmin thing. Samsung have also updated their Good Lock app to remove lag yesterday!
Damn you Oculus!
Oh..and strangely, the first few hours I got the phone..it got pretty hot...especially since I was using it while charging. I turned off fast charging and no difference. Anyways I just cooled it down w the aircon now and then.
Long story short, it doesn't get hot anymore.
Maybe it's because I used package disabler snd greenify...but whatever I do...Even while charging..it barely gets warm...

This. I just spent two days doing that and its like a totally different phone. I started a thread highlighting my experiences.
i am quite annnoyed with the lag too. it's nothing too bad, but there's noticeable keyboard lag, and whenever you go into settings to search for something, it takes like two seconds to load. i don't even think this is a case by case situation here, this phone just isn't as fast as a oneplus 3, lg g5 or iphone 7 plus. again, it's not terrible, it's just not the fastest or smoothest.

Toast popups stay on my screen for 10+ seconds long, each... Unrooted Android 10

I don't know exactly what I did that made this start happening, but right now every time a toast message pops up it stays on the screen for over 10 seconds. If there are other messages queued up then it will display all of them one after another each for over 10 seconds. I did a Google search and could not find a solution. Has this happened to anyone else?
I've tried everything short of a factory reset. I rebooted and safe mode and it still happens. I reset all of the application preferences, as far as permissions and that sort of thing goes, that fixed a few issues I've been experiencing but the toast problem persists.
Is this a bug? is there a solution? Can you adjust the timeout for toast messages? Are there any third party apps that change this setting on an unrooted phone that I unwittingly may have used?
Will I be forced to do a full factory reset to fix this problem? It's really annoying, haha!
thanks in advance for any help
I did everything including a factory reset and those toast messages still did the same thing, so I am thinking it definitely is an OS system upgrade problem!!! It is so annoying !!

I still don't understand if this happens on everybody's Pixel 3 or if it's just ours. if it's just a few people then there has to be a common thing that caused it to start doing this. I haven't thought about it too much but my first suspicion was SystemUITuner. did you by chance install that and change anything using it?
I can't think of anything else that I have had to enable permissions with ADB for on here that would have messed with the display settings.
I've been rooting every phone I owned since cupcake. usually owning more than one at a time because well that just makes your power level go up exponentially ... through carelessness and not reading what I needed to before purchasing my Verizon Pixel 3 XL, This is the first phone I've had in my life for more than a month or so that was a daily driver without root.
my point is, I really can't think of a reason why the timeout for all toast messages system wide would suddenly change to be 30 seconds long instead of three. I would have bet on it that that is something that you need root to alter. ??*

looking at Google's past release schedule and also starting to hear rumors about Android 11 (they did put a system image up on Google's page but you cannot install it without an unlocked bootloader), we should start hearing official announcements about it soon, with beta1 probably end of April beginning of May.
Even if there are a few not annoying bugs I think it would be worth the upgrade to get rid of these toast messages covering all kinds of stuff that I need to be reading NOW! not in (in the case of three or four toasted pop-up great after each other) 2 minutes later when I've already Ben distracted and can't remember what I was wanting to be able to tap on that was under the eternal-1 toast message timeout.
it's very interesting to me that if you Google this problem there's maybe one or two results. I'm very curious what we are doing to cause this issue. if you or anyone from the future is reading this and knows This information please leave a little response or just post a link it, so maybe I can die happy having finally solved this riddle
thank you in advance

I stumbled upon this after googling the same issue.
I'm not sure if we had the same issue, but I just noticed that it was the "Time to take action (Accessibility timeout)" option, under Settings > Accessibility that made my toasts be long than 3 seconds.
Although it should be on "Default" by default (duh), so if you didn't change this, it must be something else.
Just thought I'd mention it.

Oh my, thank you so much, I had the same problem and this solved it!!!
I wish there was a way to make it shorter than 3 seconds but from my research it can not be changed can it?

looking at Google's past release schedule and also starting to hear rumors about Android 11 (they did put a system image up on Google's page but you cannot install it without an unlocked bootloader), we should start hearing official announcements about it soon, with beta1 probably end of April beginning of May.
Just an FYI, coming from AT&T prepaid 6 years during the covid party the depth AT&T is it has taken me 9 months to move to postpay. It is a corporation a complete morons above customer support. All my problems are met with an upsell attempt and I have bit once or twice in return I was kindly bitten all this to say that they put a Motorola one 5G Ace 64 4G ram in my hand and I have the same issue except might hang for 20 to 45 seconds it seems like 90 seconds! May well be. Obviously they're not translucent but the desktop or any operation underneath it will take a finger command if you know where the hell to push. I did not get it from Amazon but I was looking to upgrade to the 128 prior and post this phone and one of the main salesman there with Motorola America which of course is not a Motorola product it's just a Motorola name. The ruination of a long-standing pioneer groundbreaking company! and he wanted to know more information from me and wants me to become a free paid intern or some crap and help them figure out what's going on so there you go? I am sure I am not the only one and just as sure as I am of that, I am sure that the people that make them and sell them and talk about them all day to potential customers or two customers have no freaking idea what their products do.!!

dude... thank you.
i dunno how leaving a toast message on top of the buttons you need TO take action helps but that is what caused, likely, or at least what corrected the issue for me.

I can't find this accesability option on my note 10 + g975fd bubi know it was some kind of setting somewhere because I remember turning it on trying to see some message it waS throwing while I was setting up some Tasker task. Which makes me think it might have been turned on by option for a tasker action but I'll be damned if I can find it again. It's actually nice most of the time but lately it's been really annoying to me because it shows over the keyboard and most of the time an OK or cancel prompt. And like previously mentioned if there are ten of them its quite a long time to wait. And I also turned something on that does a toast every time an intent is launched so you can see how this has multiplied the issue. I think it's one of those situations like (in Tasker you can say launch so n so app, one of the potions is to make the app launch a new instance and another is to have the app not appear in recents. That's all fine gravy for that instance but nobody anywhere ever says that from now on any time you launch that app that it will launch a new instance and it won't appear in recents) whether it's in Tasker or from the Launcher or if you just switch to another app and back. It quickly becomes an issue when you are trying to enter passwords or watch Netflix and do something else real quick. And if you don't put 2 together with 2 because you didn't notice right a way it can be a brain bender trying to figure the little problem out. I'm thinking that's what I have done is set some obscure option for God knows what experimental task and now its stuck that way. But it's really not something I want to bother joĆ£ (Tasker de"sorry for spelling") with and he may not know anyway. But thanks for the thread and any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Phone automatically goes to home screen,

I've been having an issue with my Z2 Force that I've never had with any of my other phones. For some reason, it acts like I'm hitting the home button, even when I'm not touching it. I could be using a web browser, the XBox app, or any other app and it will go back to whatever launcher I have set as default. It doesn't close the app, it just minimizes it. I've tried disabling the home button for navigating & use the touch buttons instead, and when that didn't work I tried doing a factory reset. Well, it's still doing it, and I'm to the point where I'm very tempted to try to use one of the rooting methods I was able to find online, one of which does mention the specific model of my Verizon variant (XT1789-01). I can live without root if needed, but this 'phantom home button pressing' thing is driving me nuts. Any help is appreciated, and thanks.
I have 4 Moto Z2 Force in my house, 2 of them (Android 9, Verizon version) have this same issue.

I'm still working on getting myself to go through with trying the root method I found. I think it'd work, but my main issue would be with making sure I can find a rooted ROM for the phone. Assuming the method works and I don't bork my phone, I'd still need a different ROM to install in order to determine if it's a hardware issue or software based. By the way, on the chance you're thinking of trying to remove the screen protector, be aware it is realllllllly stuck on there. I almost pulled my screen off, but I was able to remove it & was rewarded with a bunch of left over residue.
At any rate, if I do actually get myself to do the root thing, I'll be sure to post my results here.

I use the ROM stock so isn't the root that cause the problem, but I hope you find the way, my only hope is on you, actually ):

My concern is whether the root method I found is legit or not. The only reason why I want to attempt it is because the description mentions the specific model of my phone. All variants of the Z2 Force start with XT789-, but it's the number after the '-' you have to look for, and for Verizon users is '01'. Rooting the phone will let me install a different version of Android that should help me narrow down the cause of the glitch. Since your phone is doing the same thing mine is, it's more-than-likely not due to an app, so it has to be either the OS or a hardware thing.
Maybe a downgrade to 8.0 will make it, this bug is so annoying

It's possible that might work, but either way I still need to be able to root the thing and find a ROM made for the Verizon model. My phone has only been doing this for a couple weeks or so, but before that it would actually fully close certain apps (gsam Battery Monitor, RadioU, Taskbar, and some others). However, I more than less fixed that by setting the timers for those apps to 23 hrs.
How did you set the timers? That fixed the problem of minimizing the apps?

The reason why I tried setting timers on certain apps was because they were being killed automatically, this was before the 'phantom' home button thing. The following steps may/may not resolve your current issue, but you can try them if you'd like:
1. Go to Settings
2. Apps & notifications
3. Screen time
4. At the bottom, you'll see a few apps listed, and a an option to show all of your apps. Select 'Show all apps', then the app you want to set the timer for.
5. Next to each app you'll see a little hour glass. If it's empty, then there is currently not timer set. If you'd like to set a timer, tap the hour glass, then set your desired time.
Again, I did all this well before my phone started acting like I was hitting the home button in an effort to get it to stop closing my favorite apps. For the most part, it worked, but the automatic closing thing only started after the upgrade to Android 9. I did find a site where I could download a previous stock ROM, but without root it may/will re-update again. There's an app that let's you prevent updates, but the phone has to be rooted in order for the app to work. I can't really remember the name app right now, but I used to use it on my Note 4. I think there was also a way to do it through the command line in Windows (might've worked in Linux, too), or it might've been a combination of an app and the command line.
In any case, the root method I thought I'd found wasn't really all that instructive, and I need to make sure I can actually fully unlock the boot loader before attempting root. If I can't unlock it, then whatever root method I try won't stick. The auto home button thing, at least on my phone, seems to be random, though. Sometimes it'll be fairly soon after opening an app, other times the app will stay open for a good while before going back to the home screen.
Well, like I said, I have other 2 Moto Z2 Force but they are Sprint or whatever the carrier are. They don't have the phantom home button problem. But they are in Android 8. I actually don't have a problem on click the multitasking button to go back to the app but the problem is on the games and that stuff. So if I go back to Android 8 the system will update automatically to 9? I didn't know that, I thought that it was volunteer hahaha. Btw I don't even know how to downgrade since I'm not a moto user of all life. This is my first experience with a moto phone and it sucks. . Hahaha actually the home button problem happen.

It may not immediately update the OS after a downgrade, but you would get a notice there's an update available, even on a rooted phone. Since root only removes the barriers that're usually there to keep the less knowledgeable from hurting their phones, you'd still get any update notices a non-rooted phone would usually get. There is an app called NoBloat Free, and with it there are two files you'd be able to block that'd keep your phone from updating when you don't want it to. I'm not sure if the app is still in the Play Store or not, but I did use it on my Note 4, and it worked pretty well.
On a side note, I've had Opera open on my phone for a while now, and so far it hasn't gone back to the home screen yet. As for the phone itself, Moto phones are pretty good phones, my Z2 Force is my fourth phone from Moto (the other three being the RAZOR smartphone, Bionic, and the original RAZOR, which I sometimes miss). For all we know, our issue could be caused by a software glitch, hence my desire to root and test a different ROM.
Do you know how to downgrade to 8.0? I'll try it, it's a good phone and I didn't pay so much por this, that's why I'm not that angry. I won't root the phone since the games I play would kick me from the game. So just for make me sure I understand, do you reestablished the phone with a computer or from the same phone?

My man, I found something, I think it's a Verizon app's problem, there is a post in Reddit with more people having this problem, one of them leading to the conclusion that two apps of Verizon update recently. I don't know if that work. Btw I leave the link to that post. https://www.reddit.com/r/Moto_Z/com..._source=amp&utm_medium=&utm_content=post_body

I think I may have finally given my phone the smack in the pants it needed to start behaving itself again. I followed the link you provided, and one of the comments suggested installing any updates for a couple Verizon apps and disabling them. Not sure if this would work on a non-Verizon phone or not, but I've had the XBox app open on my phone for over 20 minutes now, and so far it hasn't minimized yet. To be accurate, I even closed & reopened the app. The apps mentioned were Verizon App Manager & My Verizon Services. I was able to disable the first app, but not the second, and rebooted my phone after doing so.
If your phone isn't from Verizon, there may be a similar pair of apps you could try disabling, though I'd probably look it up first to be on the safe side.
Update: It's been almost two hours now and the app still hasn't closed. Now, to get the screen protector residue off my phone.
