I think I messed up my lg gpad 7.0 - G Pad 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been running in circles on rooting my LG gpad 7.0 and with a lot of trial and error. With that said, I came across the error : boot certification verify. and that's it. Wont load or go further than that. I think I broke my device, any thoughts or help?

That's the error you get when you try to boot with an unsiged boot image. I've gotten out of that by using cybojenix openbump script to sign boot images (only works for kitkat bootloader), and using TWRP flash a ROM with a bumped boot image or just restoring a working backup. However, since you're just getting rooted I'm guessing you don't have TWRP installed (if you do, fixing this would be way easier).
If you're on the lollipop generation bootloader and don't have TWRP, the only option I can think of is to use the kitkat kdz to reset your tablet. It sounds like a really long and involved process to get the internal storage back to normal following using it. Good luck.

[Q] Secure booting Error! after official update - TWRP installed

This morning my LG V500 offered a software update. I started the update process without thinking. When the tablet restarted to install the update I saw the LG logo and then was greeted with the following message on the screen:
Secure booting Error!
Cause : Device Unlock!, so Boot Success!!!
...after which I end up at the TWRP screen.
This happens every time I restart the tablet.
Before the update, I had Android 4.2.2 installed with kernel v3.4.0. I had installed TWRP v2.6.3.1 to root my phone. I have NO custom ROMs installed.
I'd prefer not to restart from scratch, but I guess that I can do a Factory Reset, Advanced Wipe or Format Data from TWRP to restore functionality to my tablet.
Any ideas on how I can avoid losing all my customizations?

What all have you tried?
A simple shut down and re-start possibly could fix it. Just a guess, but worth a try. You should update to TWRP's latest also.
same problem here
Same problem as original poster, just I was on 2.7.0.0 TWRP. Upgraded to 2.7.0.1 - same problem.
Restored from previous TWRP backup - same problem. Installed custom ROM - SAME PROBLEM!
Out of options at this point. HELP!

Ever since I rooted I've had that. In fact if you watch Ytube's video about rooting an LG G Tab, you will see guy say "Don't know what that is - but all works.
Now on a transformer101 I didn't see that.
But frankly, so what? You don't go to recovery that much -- that is the only time it shows.

Cal-123 - issue here is not just information message, but boot loop. No matter what I tried - it goes to main TWRP screen.
Looks like solution is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2622034&page=2 , will post update when done

I did a recovery with the LG tools. All my data was backed up so it wasn't a huge deal for me. I can't even remember why I rooted my GPad in the first place.

I Hope you worked things out, but your problem possibly could be that some Roms have a built-in recovery option - by that, I mean instead of just rebooting, they will boot into recovery. You might ck. that to see if it is enabled. This "SlimKat" ROM has the feature.
Good luck!

Cal-123, thanks, I was restoring backup done with TWRP - same problem (rebooting to TWRP screen, not to system). Still don't know root cause, but problem was resolved by flashing stock KK update by using B2CApp. Obviously root is gone, so back to reading forum
At least can play Deer Hunter again
Cheers!

[Q] LG G Pad 8.3 secure booting error cause boot certification verify

Hi,
I want to flash my device to Android 4.4.4 Stock Android(Who likes this annoying LG Bloatware?).
When i wanted to get into Recovery Mode using TWRP the LG Logo pops up and in the top-right corner stands:
"secure booting error cause boot certification verify".
I tried everything i know to get into recovery mode, but nothing helped.
Go through the "first time" recovery manual installation procedure found in the CWM thread for the v500. I'm assuming you have a v500.
I have this problem too. Lg gpad 8.3 vk 810

Thanks a million, after hours trying every single method I found across the Web, this was the only thing that managed to get TWRP 2.8 on my v50020d 4.4.2.
It would be interesting though for us to let us know what exactly is that, because I found many people with the same problem than me, and this appears to be the only solution

Well, my problem it was I was using this method (the only one which do not gave me any explicit error) to install TWRP, and when rebooting to recovery it was always loading the stock recovery. That app solved me that instantaneously.
I was a little scared to see first the message "secure booting error, device unlock, so boot success" but it did loaded after TWRP. I guess that is supposed to be that way.
Yep @Maxxd01 That "secure booting error, device unlock, so boot success" it means it bypass ur bootloader to boot into custom recovery

[Q] Secure Booting Error! Cause: boot certification verify

Hi, I am new to the whole root/custom recovery scene so don't really know what I'm doing, so I tried to use Flashify to flash TWRP on to my international LG G3 running 5.0 (rooted). Unfortunately, when booting into recovery I got a small message in the corner saying Secure booting error! Cause: boot certification verify, before my phone screen went black and my led started flashing blue and red. Holding down the vol - button seemed to fix it and the phone still boots fine, but it does this every time I try to boot into recovery. I just want to play around with custom ROMs and TWRP
Anyone got a fix for this, or know what is going on (bearing in mind that I am a complete noob with this stuff)?
Thanks in advance

Are you sure it'll be safe, given my current situation? I was led to believe it was an error that I'd only be able to fix with a factory reset.

I have used this method and had no issues. The reason you can't flash it with flashify is because it only works on KitKat for lg g3. People using lollipop has to use image prep method. There should be two tutorials, one for going back to kitkat and one for alowing you to flash it while on lollipop.

OK, just had a read of the Imageprep post and this all seems completely beyond me. Is there an alternative method, or if not, could someone simplify what I'd need to do with Imageprep to get TWRP working on 5.0?

[UNBRICK] Getting into recovery/unbricking V410

I'm posting this just because it might be helpful for others, as well as providing some warning for anyone else who might one day get into the same situation.
I was rooted and had installed TWRP on my new Gpad 7.0 V410 and everything was running just fine. I've been modding Android devices for years and thought I knew what I was doing. I didn't like the AT&T boot animation and thought I'd replace it. I found the stock animation in system/media, and replaced it (with a Nexus 7 ani) just like I'd done on previous devices.
When I rebooted, the animation started and ran. But then it hung, and rebooted. It was now stuck in a bootloop. Well, no problem, I thought, I'll just get back into recovery and restore the stock ani.
That was when I discovered how locked down the firmware is on this device. No fastboot. No standard Android bootloader. Not even, as far as I could tell, anyway of rebooting into recovery using the hardware buttons.
I could get to the factory reset screen and download mode, but neither have any way to get to recovery. ADB could not connect. The LG support tool found it, but did nothing but tell me the firmware was up to date. Lots of searching and reading turned up similar tales of woe. I began to worry that there was no way out.
Having no other ideas, I tried doing a factory reset. It ran, and lo and behold, kicked me into TWRP. From here, I confirmed that the device was wiped.
However! I had had the foresight to create a TWRP backup on my external sdcard, and that was still there. Restoring it got everything back in working order.
The moral: If you're up and running now, make an external backup. It could save your butt just as it did mine.
Amen
I'd just like to add that you can enable fastboot on this tablet for anyone who might read this thread. If you follow the method described here you'll lose download mode, but the tablet will fall back to fastboot when download mode fails. :good:
Without a kdz file released for the V410 the download mode isn't really good for anything, but fastboot gives you a fighting chance of being able to flash your way out of trouble if you brick your V410. Probably advisable to keep a backup of the laf partition just in case you need it someday.
Aha, thanks, I had seen that referenced several times, but wasn't sure where to go with it, and wanted to try less extreme methods before attempting something like that.
I've been spoiled by modding HTC and Nexus devices up to now, so this is a bit of a culture shock over here.
Edit: Decided to bite the bullet in case of future problems and nuked laf. Ah, sweet fastboot. :highfive:

Moto G6 Play Boot Loop

I'm an idiot and didn't back my stuff up properly. My phone is now stuck in a boot loop with the "hello moto" screen. I tried flashing the stock boot, recovery, and logo img but now it just stays at the moto screen. I have the boost mobile version. How can I fix this?

Flash the entire firmware. Not just the certain files. At the least flash the system.img. Those files likley wouldn't need fixed but you Def need system.

Using the command, I get "no suitable package" "remote failure"

In the bootloader or fastboot as some say the command in cmd starts as "fastboot" without quotes. For example "fastboot devices"
Give more details on how you ended up in this situation. Have you unlocked your bootloader, and verified it unlocked successfully correct?

I got that settled. I'm just trying to figure out how to downgrade to stock before the OTA update so that I can root my phone successfully
I got a boot loop too whie trying to root;
with Lenovo MOTO Smart Assistant I could install android new.
My Moto g6 play XT 1922-5 dual sim got updated to Android 9 even if I wanted Rescue only to get it usable again.
For rooting I could install TWRP; first I got hung with flashing "Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_05.21.2019.zip" and
Magisk-v19.3.zip, then I tried from TWRP to install the files.
I had to format the system partition to get the files installed, then I got no error message during installation but i still got the boot loop.
Tried installing again, same result.
I guess something with the encryption did not work out but with only one phone I could not take screenshots to better document what was going on.
For anybody rooting Moto phones or looking for an android update, the moto smart assistant may be a rescue.

My guide for rooting is literally for your phone and it also comes with instructions for reflashing stock firmware. and there shouldn't be issues as long you READ THE GUIDE so do not skim it I'm sorry but you shouldn't have had these issues at all if you read my guide and followed it's directions. Since YOU are on Android 9 just use the twrp that is SPECIFICALLY made for Android 9 within my guide. As long as you have followed it down to a T it will work....

Edit: Disregard. The majority of this thread wasn't showing up when I posted my reply.
Hello,
Hello,
thank you for the response.
I wanted to point out a different rescue method that seems to be fairly unknown and was very easy to use.
I will try again to root and log what I am doing.
G6 play root success
Finally I got the G6 (1922-5, with pie) rooted; your way works.
It was a bit more complicated then just trying to follow the steps as good and close as I understood them, compared to other instructions you expect a bit more experience.
I flashed TWRP, it worked the second attempt, but after rebooting I got pie starting again.
From then on I could not access the phone over usb and put Disable_Dm-Verity and Magisk on a microSD card and flashed from there.
The phone is up and running again with root as it should now.
Thank you for the guide and your help.
