Is this the reason why i can't install gapp on my wileyfoxswift and an error appear("e: unable to find partition size for '/recovery") every time i use the wipe.
i upgraded from 12.1 to
13.0-20160127-NIGHTLY-crackling and use the same for recovery but did not work so i installed TWRP and this error occurs -see pics
PLEASE HELP

AromaGapp not working in TWRP
TWRP not working in Aroma Gapp need fix (Aroma is best for me since i can customize install & will not replace CM stock files/app)
In the previous post, i was able to install twrp but i found out on many trial and error that open gapp aroma/full doesn't work both on cm12.1 and cm13.0 using TWRP. Also cm13.0 recovery will not work with open gapp aroma/full.
What works: (haven't tried all version)
On TWRP - i was able to use arm64-pico-6.0 on cm13.0 20160130
On CM Recovery - arm64-aroma-5.1 on cm12.1 20160107
This is based on my experience with the HELP of the awesome people in the forum. I just want to let you know and maybe it will be useful to other noobs like me

Aroma compatibility with TWRP is listed on the Open G-Apps website.
Unfortunately this is the only TWRP we have available to us.

The .img file can be flashed by fastboot.
The zip file by any non stock recovery
and yes I do know the image file is contained in the zip but some people may not

Yes i downloaded the zip file, extracted the recovery.img then flashed by fastboot. I am used to using fastboot commands
So the zip file would function as an update file via a non stock recovery, however once installed would replace the non stock recovery with twrp version!

I have to say, this is very good, still concerned that it is an unsupported recovery now, though I did see that Philz updated sources today with a fixed lib file. Good work @mythi. Are you going to update this or does it matter?

Hi guys. Does anyone know if backup and restore works on 4.4.2 kitkat with this recovery?
I'll answer my own question. Yes it does, as I did a restore from my backup last night making it, imho the best recovery for our device.

CWM is very outdated, brain dead (it will kill root on zip flashes) and unsupported. Philz is a better choice if you like that kind of recovery, but it is abandoned as well. TWRP is a better choice if you grab the one from the Multi-ROM thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...mod-multirom-v30-multirom-twrp-i9295-t2962492
philz touch builds are currently broken on cm12 so there isnt much todo on cm12 , will see if its same on cm11
Am i the only one with following problem?
When i turn off the phone and plug in the power cable, the Stock charging animation appears but its freezed. After 15 seconds a smaler charging animation appears. Next thing is: During this, i cant use the power button to power on the phone. The phone restarts, but it will go back into the charging animation. I must unplug the power cable to boot the phone into android.
I think this is a problem of CWM/PhilZ ?!
PhilZ Touch 6.57.9 CWM 6.0.5.1 with CM12 official nightly.

TeamWin's TWRP Touch Recovery For Lenovo A7000-a
SCREENSHOT ON ATTACHMENT
TWRP is an open source, community project. TWRP development is done by roughly 4 people at this point. TWRP also have a large support community with many people who are willing to answer questions and help people with their devices either through our IRC channel or on forums like xda-developers.
This TWRP was originally formed to work on Lenovo K3 Note. After Denis work on K3 Note, I wanted to make it that would work on Lenovo A7000-a to. Today TWRP is the leading custom recovery for Android phones.
A custom recovery is used for installing custom software on your device. This custom software can include smaller modifications like rooting your device or even replacing the firmware of the device with a completely custom “ROM” like OmniROM
You can find the source code for TWRP at https://github.com/omnirom/android_bootable_recovery/
Flashing Instructions :
To install recovery images use Flashify / Rashr / TWRP Manager from Play Store or flash in your current recovery:
1. Go to install, find and select the Images... button.
2. Browse to the image that you downloaded and select it.
3. Choose recovery and swipe to flash.

TWRP : Mod Edit: Link Removed

WHAT IS TWRP?
Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.
Read more about TWRP here: https://twrp.me/about/
What's new in 3.2.1-0:
* minui fixes (cryptomilk) * Better android-8.0 compatibility in ROM trees (Dees_Troy) * Fix missing library in android-8.0 (nkk71) * Fix inconsistent SDCard naming (DevUt) * Default to TWRP restore instead of adb backup restore to fix restore on fresh TWRP boot (jlask)
INSTALLATION:
Most devices can be updated quickly and easily within TWRP if you already have version 2.8.4.0 or higher installed
1) Download the latest version above
2) Reboot to TWRP
3) Hit Install and tap the "Install Image" button in the lower right
4) Browse to the location of the TWRP image on your device and select it
5) Select recovery from the partition list and swipe to flash
To install from SP Flash Tools:
1) Download scatter file attached to this post
2) Load scatter file into SPFT
3) Plug USB cable into device and computer
4) Press download in SPFT
5) Reboot device
To install from offical TWRP App (Requires a rooted device.)
1) Download Official TWRP App from playstore
2) Choose the device (elephone P9000 -- p9000)
3) Install it
BUGS:
If you have an issue, the first step is to post a recovery log so we can determine the cause of the issue. This is done in recovery using Advanced -> Copy Log, or adb pull /tmp/recovery.log. Once a log is uploaded we can determine how best to proceed.
Other Projects:
Make sure to also check my dualbooting guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p9000/how-to/guide-dualboot-patcher-t3608213

That's good news.
But again, what's the difference between an installation of twrp from its app and via flashtools. Is it in the end the same? Or do you recommend one of both methods?

If you already have root, i recommend the app, since its an easier to way to download, install/update the recovery, but if you dont have root you need at least once to install it from flash tools, since the app is not an option yet for the moment(its not on devices list, but you can manually install it), you can download the image and flash it through the app (if you have root, that is) if you dont have roog you need to use flash tools
I have P9000 with Nougat on it, version Elephone_P9000_20170418 and I'm trying to install TWRP 3.0.2 with SPFlash Tool, I only check recovery and flash it, but when I start the phone in recovery mod displays only show "no command". Any scatter file from one of our stock roms should do the trick, just put it alongside the downloaded twrp image, and flash it, also twrp 3.0.2 is not official, unlike this one, this one will be able to be updated directly through the twrp app once the issue is fixed.

the app will always require root, but you can always use magisk with the certification bug fix and magisk hide so that you can have the device certified and still be rooted. (if you dont know what certification is used for, its to allways allow the usage of android pay)

You can try to compare your sources with those of Jonny. The TWRP versions which he build worked for me.
Edit: I tried to fix it by myself and after I used another kernel (Darksense kernel) as prebuild kernel it worked.

This recovery will use the security patch level from the system partition to decrypt data. It should not be tied to a security patch level anymore.
DOWNLOAD
Make sure you download the .img and corresponding .asc.txt file (see INTEGRITY)!
You can always find the latest version of the recovery HERE.
INTEGRETY
The recovery images also come with an GPG armor file (.asc). With that file you verify that the image I created hasn't been altered.
How do you do that?
Download my gpg keyring here: https://cryptomilk.org/gpgkey-8DFF53E18F2ABC8D8F3C92237EE0FC4DCC014E3D.gpg.
Download the recovery.img and recovery.img.asc.txt file
Rename the recovery.img.asc.txt file to recovery.img.asc
Verfiy the signature using the following command:
Code:
gpg --keyring ./gpgkey-8DFF53E18F2ABC8D8F3C92237EE0FC4DCC014E3D.gpg --verify recovery.img.asc
A good tutorial is: How to verify signatures for packages from the Tor Project.
SECURITY ADVICE
Don't flash ROMs or Magisk modules which set SELinux to permissive or you welcome malware on your device!

Nice work!
What does the STOCK addition in the title mean?
Can't I flash for example LOS with it?
Nice work! So does that mean that we finally can root our xz1 compact?
And currently this TWRP is not working for security patch November, right? I mean build nr: 47.1.A.5.51

I did read the OT, if that's what you mean, but it doesn't answer my question.
If the LOS I want to flash comes with the same security patch level, would it work?

There is no limitation in flashing. However there is no LOS you can flash yet ...
works perferct! thank you :good:

I will indeed test too juhuuu...
it flashes okay via fastboot, and twrp is also working. except for format option under wipe, when typing 'continue' it seems like it doesn't show the inputs, only the last letter 'e'
anyway after i flashed the twrp, i booted it up, and mounted everything except for otg. and then of course i flashed magisk.zip (latest v14) and it also succeeded
but then when i reboot from twrp, it stucks at sony logo, meaning default bootanimation doesn't kick in, and i patiently waited for like 10-15 min
so i assume it's not working. i even tried with a userdebug and regular user build 47.1.A.5.51
now i will try just to boot the twrp without flashing it and then flash magisk.zip while it's booted up via fastboot to see if it boots up normally
a) Do you have your partition encrypted and could you mount it, so it asked for a password?
b) TWRP writes a log file you can download adb pull /tmp/recovery.log
c) adb logcat is also working
Note that there is currently no upstream TWRP developement for Oreo ongoing. I just wrote several hacks to get it working.

A: it does not ask for password upon bootup so i guess it's not encrypted in that way
B attached here
C is there any specific logcat you want, like error or fatal level etc.
Question just to be clear: do we have to update twrp for evry new securitypatch?
To decrypt the /data partion on a stock ROM, yes you do.
Hi modpunk,
Ur a true star...****
I just want to ask a couple of question's.
Does the bootloader have to be unlocked in order to flash this....?
I have had a Z3 Compact and got it rooted with bootloader locked and also a Z5 Compact using munjen setup.
Install TWRP on it Flashed SuperSU using TWRP was best thing i did.
Do you have a step by step guide how to flash this. I would love to test it for you.
When you flash is it using munjen flashtool...?
Thanks Sham
UPDATE
TRWP is working actually, just figured out that it's magisk that get the phone not to boot, bith 14 and 14.5
and latest supersu both the xperia one and the regular one v.2.82 fails, give error "unzip fail, no proper recovery etc."
Now for fun i will load it up with userdebug firmware and see if i can make it manually root with the "angela" method

This is very good news, it was about time that Lisa had a recovery for Android 13.
Thanks for sharing.
What a wonderful new! Previous version for Android 12 where absolutely perfect, I am sure that this update is, or soon will be also an excellent version.
Thank you very very much!
@Dkpost3 :
I would like to send a little contribution, have you a PayPal account?
Edit: I just installed it on my Lisa running Xiaomi.eu miui 13 weekly version (Android 12): It works perfectly on Android 12, the only limit (it's a beta version) is that it can't read the ext storage. I immediately installed the update to Xiaomi.eu update to miui 14 (14.05) stable without formatting. I don't notice any problem till now.
After update the stock recovery came back so I flashed again this new one through fastboot, first I booted boot_lisa.img then I flashed it definitely from inside recovery using the zip file.
At the end I flashed successfully magisk 25.2. I am really impressed with the wonderful work of Dkpost3!

Excellent recovery. Fully functional. Very good data decryption and OTG. Only the temperature sensor is not working but that's not a big deal. Surely there will be an evolution and it will be fixed. I use MI 11 lite 5g NE (lisa), MIUI 14 global (eea) android 13.
