Z1C Not starting; after reinstalling OS. - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The issue started with my smartphone under CM12. worked for months, but suddenly apparently no reason my main microphone went mute. i had to scream near low grille so it can record voice and in phone calls i was mute for everyone. After doing some research i found no solution for this, some said something about noise cancellation, others about hardware and maybe something SIM related. Anyways, i tried installing original ROM from this site:
the generic Android 5.1.1 for Sony XPERIA Z1 Compact D5503
http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/46-sony-xperia-z1-compact-d5503
Used the flashtool10 for it; everything went fine. It started and optimizing all the apps and when it finishes it boots up.
Then i get this NFC message and boom; the phone resets. and stucks in this loop. sometimes opens the list of languages to start configuration; sometimes i get to click on next but stucks and shuts down. Cycle repeats again.
What can i do now? I'm downloading now kitkat for z1 compact see if i get lucky...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...tock-rom-xperia-z1c-d5503-14-5-0-242-t3083695
but until then, i need more suggestions: Custom ROMs are better for my taste, specially CM12 but i can't stand using a phone that can't be a phone.
Please, Help me.

There are many stable options for CM-based Roms in the forums here. If you have fastboot, it should be no problem to flash any of them. Personally, I like Euphoria and Tesla the best of what I've tried, but there mist be at least a dozen to choose from.

[Q] Sound Issues

i have been having issues with no sound coming from the LG nitro , all of a sudden it cut out yesterday and have hard reset numerous times and 1 out of 4 or 5 reboots the sound comes in but if you power off then on the sound disappears .. this is a stock phone with only root , anybody have any ideas or similiar issues ?
This is not any kind of development related topic but I'd suggest that you bring it in for repair or replacement as that sounds like a hardware issue. Maybe try flashing another rom.
Sent from my LG-P930 using XDA App
moved to general
I had a similar issue and ended up returning the phone to bell for a new one.
Here is the long story just in case it helps some one. Like all good Android users I started by rooting my phone, installing ROM Manager and making a nandroid backup. Once this was done I ran rooted stock for a few days. All was well.
Then I started to debloat my phone. After which everything seamed good. Then installed and played with RAM Manager and SD Speed Increase. TBH i did not notice any particular increase in speed on my phone but that might be due to the following issue.
After all this I decided to run a few test by using the phone into the ground. Added a bluetooth headset, while using navigation and making several calls. It was all running very well until I rebooted. Once rebooted whenever I connect my bluetooth headset I was no longer able to make calls. The phone dialer would completely lag out until I de-activated bluetooth. The the 10 or so test calls I tried making would all go through at once. This wasn't the end of the word for me so I continued to use the phone as everything else was working fine. The things started degrading by which time I was on the new CM9 nightly build. The phone had started being really sluggish. I finally decided to return my phone after it would no longer play any sound and whenever it called to any sound related function would lag out and/or reboot. The same behavior happen in stock, cm9 and NO! NO! ROMs. I tried flashing a few roms in a last ditch effort.
I could be wrong by my conclusion is that the audio portion of the snapdargon chip fried and since these phone are basically just 1 chip the phone simply degraded from there.
I would like to know of anyone else has had similar issue or if I just got a lemon and also your take on the cause of the issue.
Hope this can help someone.
Thanks!
Edit: Returned my phone for a new one and I've been flashing CM9 since the first release and no issues. I'm actually really happy with the replacement and would recommend the phone as long as you don't get a lemon ;-)

[Q] Hello all. Slight problem regarding the Xperia S speaker.

Hey everyone.
I am new to these forums and new to Android in general. I finally got an Xperia S a few weeks ago. After a lot of reading and trying things out, I was able to successfully flash some roms (and unlock the bootloader, root, etc).
I have learned a LOT in the last 3 weeks. I really like the Paranoid Android and now, Nova roms. However, something is troubling. The sound was not working on viber (maybe it never did... i just used it like 2 weeks ago, so maybe it's the Xperia S, roms, or a setting). I flashed a baseband, using flashtool and it solved it mainly. I still could not change volume (slider bar moved, no change audibly). Anyways, I flashed to Dark Passion PA a couple nights ago. It worked well for the most part.
No audio on Play previews prompted me to try youtube... resulting in the same error. All the while internet radio apps were not working. I finally got one to work ('Tuned in'), but Xiialive said "Failed to set volume". Anyways, eventually, no audio was being heard anywhere except via earphones, and in call. The speakers (internal and loud) are silent on any setting and in any media (ringing, youtube, net, radio, mp3's etc). I can hear calls though.
I tried plugging earphones in and out (as per search suggestions). This did not bring a positive result. I am considering flashing back to stock. My phone keeps leaving flash mode, on flashtool though. Emma is not working (Sony's newest tool). I hope I don't need to send it back to Sony or Amazon (where I bought it).
If it matters, I am on Nova RC2 and was most recently on Dark Passion PA. Both are quite cool. The sound problems (no sound at all sans earphones) started yesterday, as far as I can tell. Both clean installs.
I really appreciate the hard work and innovation of the developers, and the support of these forums. This is my first post, but tireless reading enabled me to learn how to flash and troubleshoot better, for that I am grateful. Any guidance in resolving the lack of sound, will be sincerely appreciated. Thank you.
Seems like even a flash to Official ICS does not solve the problem.
Strange behavior. Old rom's background was showing up after a few clean installs of NOVA rom. I am not blaming the rom, it may happen with any. Now, post-flashing the Official NL ICS firmware (which didn't work in many attempts) It seemingly worked, with sill NO SOUND. It died (battery) and now it won't boot. It doesn't even charge, all the time. Just an orange light sometime. I'll give it to Sony.
Welcome to the forum. Thread moved. Please make sure you post your threads in the relevant sections as all questions should be posted here in Q&A.
Thanks

Phone restarts when camera flash is turned on!

Hello,
I've had my T-mobile SGH-T989 since March 2012. As it came with the standard Samsung Touchwiz loaded Android, I decided to flash a custom rom: Paranoid Android 4.4 RC2 (Android version 4.4.3), sometime back.
Ever since I have installed this new ROM everything except two things run very nicely.
1. I can use my camera, but only without any flash. The moment, I turn on the flash or put it on auto mode, the phone simply restarts. After restart, I can open the camera app, but the moment I try to take a picture with the flash on, it restarts. If I turn off the flash, the camera works without any problems.
2. Every time I am on a call, with me holding the phone to my ear (so that the proximity sensor detects that and turns off the screen to prevent accidental button press), after about 2 mins, somehow Google now gets triggered off and starts doing something on the screen (e..g opening browser, showing search history ,etc..) all the while I am talking on the phone. Off lately, approx since a week now, in addition to Google Now doing funky things, my phone now automatically goes to loudspeaker mode (even while I am holding the phone to my ear), and puts the phone on mute (although mute icon is not activated), but the other person can't hear anything.
It's just frustrating that I cannot talk without worrying about Google now triggering something off, or the phone going on loudspeaker and muting me off.
Can you guys please help resolve these issues? It's really annoying that a clean ROM like Paranoid Android is plagued with these problems, and I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere online.
Your help would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
Chintan.
Please help!
Hello Gurus,
I would really appreciate if someone can help me find out what the problem is with this phone.

Phone occasionally randomly shutting down and touch screen irresponsive: ROM or hard?

Hi,
I bought a Find 7 for my girlfriend. It's a good looking phone for a small price, so we are very happy with it. However, right after receiving the phone it already started shutting down randomly, about 2-3 times a week. After a week or 2-3 the touch screen also got irresponsive sometimes, which can be noticed especially while typing. The keys sometimes just dont respond, sometimes she even has to put the phone away since it's impossible to send a whatsapp.
Could this be a ROM problem or does this sound like a hardware problem? The phone is running the latest 'project spectrum' Android 5.1 ROM by Oppo.
Regards,
Ruud
Most likely software. Oppo ROMs aren't that great. Omnirom is the pick for the Find 7.
I had the exact same issue and it got solved by returning to ColorOS and flash everything again including the recovery.
Now i'm back on RESURRECTION Remix Rom. I hope it works for you too.

Z1 Compact hangs in random moments

Hi
My Z1 Compact started to hang while opening apps or while using them. Sometimes it doesn't reset and then some things are not responding and whole interface disappear and comes up again.
I tried to record it with the screen recorder and the "show touches" option but the record wasn't saved. The "show touches" option worked during the hang.
Sometimes I can turn it off by clicking power button and power off but it takes some time to "read" my touch. There are no problems with the battery.
Is it a RAM problem? How can I find out what happens before and during the hang? Is there something like Windows event viewer for Android? My ROM was DstrikerZ1 Kai SP007, after the problems started I updated it to SP008, now it is on stock ROM with no root. The bootloader is locked and it was never unlocked.
I thought it would work for another 2 years

Are you saying that the problem was the same through both Dstriker versions, and straight stock? Was there full wipes in between? If so, I would think it's a hw issue, maybe digitizer... If not, best thing to test is a totally different rom with full wipe.
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think digitizer can cause software freezes... If it was faulty I couldn't control the phone but it would respond anyway.
I flashed SP008 with data+system+cache+art cache wipe, then I flashed stock ROM via software repair in PC Companion.

I don't know what hw it would be, but seems like hw to me.
A good app for what you're looking for might be OSMonitor from f-droid - https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=git&fdid=com.eolwral.osmonitor&fdpage=3 There's a 'message' tab, and a drop-down menu you can choose which type of log you want to read.
I don't understand this log ;/ There is a lot of messages.
I consider buying a Z1C with cracked screen and swapping the mobo, but first, I will call a technician.
Hello I have the same issues from today. It looks like a SW issue. I never do updates, except yesterday I did,...
I also saw that lots of people have issues with the latest update of Facebook.
Yes, it was all because of Facebook. I restored custom rom and all mods yesterday and it works fine so far.
Somebody wants us to throw old Z1Cs, but we throw FB app instead. Nice try mr. Zuckerberg.
I don't know why, but i have this problem, i don't think it's hw fault, i have the same issue in all my 3 z1, it's kinda funny, deleting Facebook App 'fixed' my problem
Had same freeze on SP007, so I downgraded to SP005, instead of upgrade to SP008.
SP005 runs much better and doesn't look like Pixel but has the XZ look
Had this issue all week and now I know it's Facebook! Was having hard / soft reset issues for like a week after this stupid Facebook update... thank god I checked here.
