Phone occasionally randomly shutting down and touch screen irresponsive: ROM or hard? - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

Hi,
I bought a Find 7 for my girlfriend. It's a good looking phone for a small price, so we are very happy with it. However, right after receiving the phone it already started shutting down randomly, about 2-3 times a week. After a week or 2-3 the touch screen also got irresponsive sometimes, which can be noticed especially while typing. The keys sometimes just dont respond, sometimes she even has to put the phone away since it's impossible to send a whatsapp.
Could this be a ROM problem or does this sound like a hardware problem? The phone is running the latest 'project spectrum' Android 5.1 ROM by Oppo.
Regards,
Ruud

Most likely software. Oppo ROMs aren't that great. Omnirom is the pick for the Find 7.

I had the exact same issue and it got solved by returning to ColorOS and flash everything again including the recovery.
Now i'm back on RESURRECTION Remix Rom. I hope it works for you too.

[Q] cyanogenrom 7.0.3 help!

Hey
First off all, sorry about my english it´s my 3rd language.
I´ve flashed CM 7.0.3 rom on my desire 2 days ago, i realy like the rom but there are a couple things that are pretty annoying about it.
last night i got a call, when i went to look who i was, the screen blank, i pushed the power button to turn the displey off and again to turn it on again, and then it show who called, and after that i could unlock the phone but my screen didnt respond to anything, rebooted and all good.
And this morning my menu button went missing and i had to reboot again.
i know that they are minor problems if they can be solved by rebooting, but in my mind its unacceptable, that i have to reboot every couple hours.
So what i wanted to ask is.
does anyone else have the same problem, and have you found a fix for it?
or if anyone just knows what to do?
Regards
Drong88
CyanogenMOD 6.1 was my first rom; I was very happy, my device radically changed
Then I flashed 7.0 RC2 and I liked it, but since 7.0.1 it was very hard for me to use the phone.
It was unstable, Bluetooth take minutes to pair with other devices (specially my car-kit, I need it every day), photos were awful!
I give a try on a Geeksphone One, and it was worst.
Now I'm running InsertCoin (with Sense™, again) and it is pretty good: fast and stable, however had less customization than the CM. And HID devices do not work with HTC™ Bluetooth stack.

[Q] Sound Issues

i have been having issues with no sound coming from the LG nitro , all of a sudden it cut out yesterday and have hard reset numerous times and 1 out of 4 or 5 reboots the sound comes in but if you power off then on the sound disappears .. this is a stock phone with only root , anybody have any ideas or similiar issues ?
This is not any kind of development related topic but I'd suggest that you bring it in for repair or replacement as that sounds like a hardware issue. Maybe try flashing another rom.
Sent from my LG-P930 using XDA App

I had a similar issue and ended up returning the phone to bell for a new one.
Here is the long story just in case it helps some one. Like all good Android users I started by rooting my phone, installing ROM Manager and making a nandroid backup. Once this was done I ran rooted stock for a few days. All was well.
Then I started to debloat my phone. After which everything seamed good. Then installed and played with RAM Manager and SD Speed Increase. TBH i did not notice any particular increase in speed on my phone but that might be due to the following issue.
After all this I decided to run a few test by using the phone into the ground. Added a bluetooth headset, while using navigation and making several calls. It was all running very well until I rebooted. Once rebooted whenever I connect my bluetooth headset I was no longer able to make calls. The phone dialer would completely lag out until I de-activated bluetooth. The the 10 or so test calls I tried making would all go through at once. This wasn't the end of the word for me so I continued to use the phone as everything else was working fine. The things started degrading by which time I was on the new CM9 nightly build. The phone had started being really sluggish. I finally decided to return my phone after it would no longer play any sound and whenever it called to any sound related function would lag out and/or reboot. The same behavior happen in stock, cm9 and NO! NO! ROMs. I tried flashing a few roms in a last ditch effort.
I could be wrong by my conclusion is that the audio portion of the snapdargon chip fried and since these phone are basically just 1 chip the phone simply degraded from there.
I would like to know of anyone else has had similar issue or if I just got a lemon and also your take on the cause of the issue.
Hope this can help someone.
Thanks!
Edit: Returned my phone for a new one and I've been flashing CM9 since the first release and no issues. I'm actually really happy with the replacement and would recommend the phone as long as you don't get a lemon ;-)

[Q] Phone problems since day 1.

Hey guys!
Sorry for the long post, I'm going to write down in one post the story of the phone, because I've had so many problems with it (probably because I'm an amateur) since day 1.
1. When I got my phone I had the usual problems, lagging interface, subpar battery life - I installed nova launcher, tried all the best, it was nearly ok.
2. When android 5.0 came out the phone by itself didn't offer it, however when I plugged it in the PC Suite said that there was new software available, so I installed it. This happened again with another update. The weird thing that after every update, when I switched on the phone it said something like 'the current version is not available for user, somethingsomething' as a notification, but I could easily press the side and it disappeared.
3. About a month ago my phone started going crazy. Firstly it overheated really fast. Secondly, which was much more annoying, it rebooted at random times. A week ago it started rebooting so often I could barely use it. I tried monitoring which apps they were, uninstalling but nothing changed.
4. For this reason I rooted, tried memory leak fix, tried greenify and amplify. The problem still persisted. So my thoughts were, that this must be a hardware issue (the reason I thought this, is because sometimes after rebooting it said it had below 20% battery, even if before rebooting it showed 60%).
5. I unrooted (I think I nearly bricked my phone), and put on stock TOT, so I can bring it back to the provider for a fix. Now it has android 4.4.1., the lagging interface is still there, the problems are just like at day 1. However there is no random rebooting, so its not hardware issue, so Im not rushing to my provider (they take a month and dont give substitute phone).
I tried software update again (I'm european d855), but it said there werent any new software available. I would like to have lollipop.
Please can someone explain why it was overheating and how I can have a stable and rock solid android 5.0 on my phone with normal battery life and without lagging interface? I would love to love this phone but it makes my job very difficult
Thank you in advance!
Have you tried any custom ROM?

Random reboots

Hiya folks,
Just wondering if anybody has been experiencing random reboots on the OP3. Have been experiencing em on 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 about twice a day since I got the phone four days ago. Tried a cache wipe/hard reset but to no avail. Haven't been able to reproduce the reboots. Just happen at completely random times, while writing an email, making a call, or connecting to the car Bluetooth. Phone is perfectly responsive and stable otherwise!
Have asked Amazon for a replacement, but I'm wondering if this is something that's been noticed by anybody else. No mods done, completely stock. Running dual sims (Vodafone and Jio VoLTE).
Attaching a screenshot of how the battery page shows the reboots.
Yeah, they happen for me periodically. Not nearly as often as yours though. Mine is maybe once or twice a week max. But yes, slightly annoying.
Phone is completely stock, locked, unrooted. Running 3.2.2.

Haven't had a single random reboot yet, had the phone for about a month now. Started with 3.1.3, then 3.2.1, now 3.2.2, rooted, running xposed (not a lot of modules).
What are you doing when the reboots happen (an app issue)?

It's been all over the place, but often when the screen was actually off! The way I would know would be I'd pick up the phone and see that it asks for the PIN post reboot. If it helps, I've enabled encryption. I also have a work (exchange) email account set up as a device admin
I know there's ways of investigating this with logcats and last_kmsg, but I've had the phone 4 days and I cant imagine why it's spontaneously rebooting while doing literally nothing. Seeing as hardly anybody has had similar reboots (on XDA/OnePlus forums), could this be a hardware issue at all? I could possibly try reflashing the entire phone, but that would essentially be the same as a wiping data/cache, right?
Here's an idea - my LTE data/VoLTE is extremely spotty (on Reliance Jio which is in a beta test stage) - disconnects and connects VERY frequently, could that be triggering reboots at the baseband level? Now throwing ideas at the wall!

Mine had random reboot issues recently on a trip. It only seemed to happen when I was using Google navigation combined with listening to music on my bluetooth headphones. I haven't tried that combination since the trip and haven't had any reboots since then.

same issue
the reboots are random, and i could only know that the phone has rebooted itself if it ask for a pin upon scanning finger, went to service center and has OS flashed, but the problem still persist, for me some time when the phone hangs, some kind of pixels form on the screen, attaching a sample photo for reference, anybody experiencing this issue or am i the only one, and today the phone has completely stopped working, it is not switching on.

Wow that is substantially worrying, and almost certainly not just a software issue I reckon. Try getting a replacement maybe? - or atleast ask the service folks for a mainboard replacement. Anybody else with reboot issues?
Doesn't really seem to be an OS bug, unless it happens in very niche use cases which I don't have anyway! Getting the replacement on Tuesday, fingers crossed for that one!
My friend and I both got a one plus 3. He does not have this problem but I have.
The reboot is random but usually happens during charging. Sometimes it even turns off.
I have tried to ask for a replacement but they rejected me. Still communicating with the support staffs

Went to service center in Gurgaon, getting a replacement for motherboard, as oneplus policy doesn't give replacement handset, have to SETTLE for this, i dont know how many days this whole process is going to take, will update you guys about it when i get the phone back.
I have the same issue, random reboots usually when screen is off.
3.2.1, root + xposed... for me it started with 3.2.0 update

I experienced a similar scenario twice, only seems to happen on long trips, 3+ hours. I was using Waze with Plex streaming audio over car Bluetooth. I have not had this on shorter trips, 1-2 hours. I'm typically plugged into the dash car charger. Otherwise, haven't had issues. Never rooted 3.2.2.
Situation Update
Got the replacement OP3 on August 9. Have now seen 2 random reboots since. Once while paired to the car Bluetooth, once after finishing a call.
I have till August 19 to decide whether to keep this device or ask for replacement number two! Overall, the reboot situation is a lot better on this device, but I can't help wonder - why any at all?
Seems at this point to either be a bug with the Bluetooth implementation AND/OR with the dual SIM functionality where repeated switching between SIMs for every call. (I use one SIM for calls and texts, another for data)
Can anyone confirm the situation on a custom ROM as opposed to stock? I'm running stock 3.2.2
Aaaaand now we have an ota claiming to fix 'auto-reboot issues' - 3.2.4
The reboots were so sparsely documented compared to the other stuff that I ended up getting a replacement for a s/w issue!
Anyway - you folks reboot free now? Post results with 3.2.4 please
I had three back to back random reboots while using Google Maps and Amazon Kindle in the background. Weird.
I've yet to have a random reboot on 3.2.4
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Got my very first reboot :crying:
I'm on 3.2.4 with bl unlocked, rooted, Xposed, twrp
Had several reboots while driving and navigating on google maps one after the other. Maybe it is to do with the GPS sensor but its annoying coz you need it most when u r navigating turn by turn

Agree. It happens only when I drive with gmaps running on background. When the screen times out, the phone, instead of shutting down the display, goes to hard reboot.
I've never had this issue until I moved to the latest update. Weird. Annoying.
I had my first reboot a few hours ago (with 3.2.4). I was connected to Bluetooth in my Car. Noticed it, as my car told me that mein Phone is now connected. No gmaps or something with GPS runinng.
Looks like Bluetooth is the Problem.

TM-320 Random Rebooting

Good morning all,
I wanted to get some thoughts on random rebooting and wi-fi dropouts I am having with my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. For some time now I have had issues with random rebooting of my tablet - often when first starting a game or other app. I mostly dealt with it, but finally got frustrated enough to really start trying some other options. My tablet has long been rooted and for a while I had some success with CyanogenMod. But then I started getting freq crashes with that. Tried rolling back to earlier and later versions (always with a complete wipe)...still got crashes. Then went back to complete stock, still crashes. Then reloaded TWRP and tried two other ROMS - Resurrection Remix and Slim (always with a complete wipe). Still getting random reboots.
At this point I wonder if it is hardware issue.
As pointed out in other threads I have the issue of the wi-fi frequently dropping. It usually reconnects after a bit, but very frustrating.
Any thoughts or insight is appreciated.
Thank you.

I am sorry to see that we both have exactly the same problem, and that nobody seems to have an answer :crying:
I have wiped and installed numerous times several roms, but my tablet just won't boot again ...
misery loves company...
Fortunately mine boot and usually works...but the rebooting is very frustrating...
Good luck and I'll post if I find anything out.
Follow these simple steps to go back to stock ROM : https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ral/firmware-stock-firmware-tab-pros-t3087238
Tablet looks to work fine.
Still have to install twrp and flash RR or LOS and see what happens...
Edit: rereading your OP and realizing you already tried that : /
Hope second shot will be the good one...
Edit 2: RR 5.7.4 working perfectly
Mine just started to do something similar. Using ResurrectionRemix 5.8.2020170401 for months with no problem. In the last few weeks, tablet would not wake up after powering down. Had to do hard reset, then would work fine for hours until next failure.
I wiped the device and reinstalled RR and Gapps, same thing happens. Wondering if there is a hardware problem sneaking up on us?

I will be able to answer precisely within a few days.
In the meantime, tablet working great after reverting to stock, then falshing MM version of RR for 2 days straight...
ROM has nothing to do with hardware problem, especially the flaw in Samsung battery connector's cables, loosely contact to pins of battery connector on mainboard.
Everyone has a good technical background will clearly see what is causing reboot or shutdown:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...350-goes-continual-boot-loop.html#post5928150
You will see this problem in any Samsung tablet which has that battery connector: Tab A, Tab Pro, Note Pro, Tab S.....etc...
This is another example of this problem regardless different ROMs are loaded.
