Back tempered glass screen protector - OnePlus X Accessories

Anyone using one? I can't seem to find any

Probably there are none, but you should try the screenprotector 'pack' of nilliken. They provide a regular screenprotector for the back and a tempered one for the screen.

They are available, especially from China (ebay/aliexpress). I have ordered a Nillkin pack, comes with front glass, rear film and camera film (+ the cleaning accessories). The thing with back glass covers is that they may impair cases-hence I avoid them.

Yeah I can only find rear films but no glass for the back

Afaik, MK makes them along with front glass. https://folie-ochronne.3mk.pl/pl/p/OnePlus-X-One-1003-Przod-i-Tyl-3mk-ARC/14691

I have had those and that is bad idea right now. That foils is very soft and flexible and you can easly peel it off by accident. Wait till next year, they told me that they will improve them and they will send me another one (first one does not stick at edges so well). Then i will reply and tell you if its worth or not. Anyone found any rear glass protectors? Bored of using a case...

Instead of back tempered glass, one alternative is skin

Any consensus on the best aftermarket tempered glass screen protector?

Firstly, I have read through many of the threads existing on protectors.
When I checked YouTube to see if there were any videos comparing screen protectors for the OPX there were none, so I watched a video comparing 4 screen protectors for a different phone. Of these Armorz and Bodyguardz protectors seemed to come out on top, and survive the strenuous tests the videomaker put them through. It seems neither of these brands make protectors for the OPX.
Next I searched this forum and read through many of the threads on the different screen protectors. For as many people that promote the different protectors, there seem to be as many if not more detractors, complaining of rainbox effect, the protector fitting one OPX but not another, air bubbles, etc.
I ordered my OPX today, and I intend to order a Spigen OnePlus X Case Rugged Armor Black but I was hoping to compliment that with a screen protector.
I was hoping to order the best protector, that will fit my OPX, no rainbox effect, and that will not cause any isue with the Spigen Case - does this exist?
Simple answer is it depends on luck.
I have tried several including 1+, Nillkin, generic, full cover... None of them are perfect, if you go for any like the official 1+ one where only the display is covered you may end up with horrid air bubbles around the cover, many people complained of this-I only know of one guy who done it flawlessly. The plus side of this is that cases will fit fine. The full cover one is the best one I've tried, though it has a rainbow effect in the middle of the screen which can be seen under bright light conditions or on a white screen. This screen protector doesn't have any air bubbles and fits great, only downside is the rainbow, some cases should fit fine e.g. I use the Nillkin frosted back cover which fits without issue.
For me the small rainbow is something I can deal with unlike the air bubbles around the whole display which were an eye sore, you'd be lucky if you didn't get any. So it is hit and miss tbh, just trial and error, I wasted a good £20 on protectors for this phone, which is something I'll never do again.
In the end I ordered from Amazon:
OnePlus X Screen Protector,Nillkin®[Anti-Explosion ][With Camera film][With Back Protector]Amazing H+Pro 9H Tempered Glass Screen Protector for OnePlus X
You mention the protector you use covers the whole phone, but the thing is that I also want the added protection of the Spigen OnePlus X Rugged Armour.
Accepting that they all have flaws, as I can probably still cancel my order and change it, and considering I want front screen protection AND the Spigen Rugged Armour case, do you think I would be better with a different protector than the Nilkin?
*Air bubbles are the main thing I wish to avoid, I could live with a Rainbox effect, once it is only visible from certain angles etc.?
It is a real shame there are non more protectors, I really was sold on Bodyguardz or Armorz protectors after watching the videos where they were tested, and was disappointed to discover they do not make protectors the OPX. I am guessing they do not think there is enough of a market to make it worth their while.
I had a look at the case and it seems that the Nillkin one is probably your best option, as the case covers the sides and slightly overlaps on the front-full protector covers the whole front so you may get issues with it.
Have a look for yourself, here is the one I bought (and currently use):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/281856280418
This is the issue, you could risk bubbles and use the spigen or avoid them, live with a rainbow and use another case. It's down to luck, you may not get any bubbles or rainbow depending on which one you use.
The first sentence in your reply is not so clear, you are saying the Nilkin it is the best option although I may still have issues with it?
I ordered the protector you linked to on eBay about a week ago, but it will take a few weeks to get here!
I do have my Nilkin H+ protector here, my Spigen Rugged Armor case, and my OnePlus X arrived about 15 minutes ago
I want to try apply the Nilkin cover right away - I will post picture for others - but what is the best method? I read somewhere on the forum that we should make sure to use the 'x method', but I cannot remember what x is?
The full cover protector covers the whole front, I mean edge to edge, so the case may not fit-it may conflict with the glass. The Nillkin one only covers the display/screen not the side edges/bezels so you will have no issues with the protector and case.
I have never heard of the 'x method' so don't know, but the best method I have used is with tape or alignment stickers (your protector may have came with them). So you carefully align the protector with the display, apply the tape so it stays in place, remove the film and just close the protector (like a book), apply some pressure in the centre and leave it for a few minutes. Oh and make sure there isn't any dust before applying the glass, use a microfibre cloth to clean.
Also, just to clear things up-you may have issues with the full cover glass protector (not Nillkin-I gave the ebay link previously), the only issue with the Nillkin one is that if you botch it, you will have an air gap around the whole glass. Though if your lucky you may not.
I think this is the x method:

I'm happy with it. The glass feels better then the plastic stock one.
Use the 'hinge method' to apply the screenprotector.

Though I haven't tried it myself.
Please upload some picture of your result when you are done
Used hinge method, still got the rainbow effect. I tried unhinging it a few times and cleaned both the screen and the protector and places it back on but there was always a rainbox effect - the last time I tried removing it the protector cracked
I was suspicious at the time when I tried installing the Nilkin Screen Protector, the plastic film removable cover of the protector was on the OUTSIDE of the tempered glass!!!!
WTF!
I know it was on the outside, and not the inside, because the holes in the glass for the front ear speaker and front camera would only line up when the film cover was on the outside, that is facing me as I looked down at the phone. This was the first tempered glass screen protector I ever tried to install, so I assumed I must be mistaken and continued trying to install.
From the videos I have looked again, it seems that this film cover should always be on the inside of the protector (before being removed), that is, on the side of the tempered glass that will be touching the screen of the phone?
Thanks, yes that is the method, see my comments on how it did not work and how I think they somehow sent me a screen protector with the film cover on the wrong side.
xx
As you can see the plastic film protector is on the wrong side of the tempered glass, well, if you want the holes for the speaker and camera to line up!
http://i.imgur.com/VJU5LC7.jpg"]http://i.imgur.com/VJU5LC7.jpg
Yeah, the film is on the inside, the side that attaches to the screen, peeling the plastic sheet off exposes the adhesive bit which sticks to the glass. Just saw the pictures, bad luck man. I got through like 3-4 protectors before settling-if that makes you feel better.
Then I am not losing my mind! Did you see the picture I posted?
Amazon are refunding me at least. I hate that I could not apply a protector to the brand new screen.
Like I said before, I have ordered the one you recommended but it will take some weeks to arrive, and I think you said it will not fit with my Spigen Rugged Armor case anyway.
Can you recommend any others and I will order now? I am in Ireland so possible options are Amazon UK or ebay, though I guess I can order from anywhere really.
As this device is relatively new (only a few months old) there are not many variations of protectors available. As far as I am aware there is the Nillkin type which covers the screen only and the full cover which covers the whole front. I got the ebay one in about a week (China to London), I chose standard delivery (its free and faster than economy).
Check the image in my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65705849&postcount=37
That is the full cover one, I had an issue and got it replaced, now it only has a slight rainbow-but I can live with it.
TIFU - I did not realise the second smaller hole in the Nilkin tempered glass was for the proximity sensor, the camera has no hole...

Which screen protector to get?

I'm looking for a new screen protector for my 3T. Here's my requirements:
Tempered glass
Doesn't let dust get under it over time
Doesn't keep me from seeing pixels along the edges (rules out OnePlus 3/3T Curved Tempered Glass Screen Protector; see https://youtu.be/rVtWOmDrVGU?t=119)
Covers up the entire display area (rules out OnePlus 3/3T Tempered Glass Screen Protector; see my attached photo)
Works with at least one of the big protective cases like Otterbox Case for OnePlus 3/3T, Spigen Neo Hybrid OnePlus 3 Case / OnePlus 3T Case with Flexible Inner Protection and Reinforced Hard Bumper Frame for OnePlus 3 2016 - Gunmetal, or OnePlus 3T / OnePlus 3 Case, TUDIA Slim-Fit HEAVY DUTY [MERGE] EXTREME Protection / Rugged but Slim Dual Layer Case for OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 3 (Matte Black)
Are there any screen protectors that meet all of these criteria?
the unicorn..gl
Doesn't exist.. that I've seen.
Sigh... Why did OnePlus have to curve the screen? :crying:
Yeah, there's no good tempered glass protector. The only option is a plastic protector.

It comes off eventually, you get the rainbow effect and dust eventually gets underneath it as it only sticks to the edges.
I bought a couple of cheap ones off eBay that go around the home button and speaker. Don't even notice it's on most of the time. I get a little oil spill type effect but that's only when the screens off and not noticeable unless I look for it. Think the key is getting it really stuck down. When I first put it on I ended up with tobacco underneath it from my pocket but carefully took it off and reapplied it and so far it's been fine. Had it on about 2 months maybe 6 weeks and it's been great
I'm having the same issue as you. I'm not sure which tempered glass screen protector to use..
After a little search, it seems like the issue with the official curved screen protector from OnePlus has been fixed. I'm gonna bite the bullet and just go for that once, since it's "official". Will report back with images.

Where'd you see that? I'm under the impression that they said they were going to fix it, but all they ended up doing was adding a disclaimer about the problem to the description page.
Hey everyone,
I bought the curved tempered glass and it was so so so bad I removed it 1 minute after using it.
When you put your finger on the fingerprint sensor, I get the feeling that i'm putting my finger into a hole.
The feeling I get when I look at the screen, its the same as if my phone was outside a window...
It was expensive and I'm not using it. Tried to refund it and the support didnt allowed it.
The curved tempered glass does protect the whole phone into a point that it kills the whole feeling you get when
the phone is naked.
Please do not buy it!
I bought recently the normal tempered glass but I still didnt received it.
When it arrives I'll give some news.
I received these today and applied the first one perfectly. I can't tell there is anything on the screen. They do not attract smudges anymore than the phone's glass which is good.
I am more so trying to protect against micro scratches so do not necessarily need the better protection of glass.

Using the orzly v2 glass and its cool. Yes you can see the dot matrix in direct sunlight, yes you get random rainbow in in hot/humid places. But overall its usually clear and perfect. If you use a case it just blends in and although the extra height is daunting on the home button at first, after a month I can say I can't even tell anymore, not obtrusive at all.
Experience with official tempered glass protector
So just to share my experience with the official curved tempered glass protector from oneplus after using it for some weeks.
I'm using it with the Otterbox case and it does work well together overall. It did happen very rarely that an edge was pushed off by the case when the phone was in my pocket. The visibility of the edges of the screen is impaired, but not to the point that I find it disturbing in every day usage.
So my point is, overall this combination works well and provides good protection while adding reasonable bulk. I think it's a very solid choice as of now.

Yup, quite happy with that. But I'm not 100% persuaded that's actually tempered glass. I managed to get it chipped just by holding it in my pocket with some coins (I assume, as I never dropped it). Nothing major, but never happened with any other glass screen protector before. So, guess that's still going to provide some level of protection but wouldn't trust it too much for major protection.
Apart from that, that's ok for the price.
IMHO

It seems to have the same problem as the official OnePlus full-coverage protector where you lose some edge pixels, according to the 3-star review on the white model.
I'm on my 2nd Orzly V2 now and it's not too bad. I have limited rainbow affect which is only visible under fluorescent lights and the touch sensitivity is generally OK. It's not great by any means but it's adequate, will protect the screen and is the best out of a poor lot.
Make by my self based on polyurethane film

Tempered Glass and Screen Protector Film

I bought an Edge to Edge tempered glass from good mobile accessory shop and got it fitted in my Mi10 by a professional technician there itself. After a week or so there developed one or two air bubbles in the screen and they began to grow big covering half of my screen. So I approached the shop again and they repalaced the glass with a new one. After about 2 weeks there began to develop air bubbles again and they growing in size gradually. My had not dropped anywhere from me or others. So what is the reason for this?If I replace the tempered glass with a Screen Protector film, can the developing of air bubbles be completely prevented?Aso will this actually protect the phone screen glass from breaking in the event of a fall? Can anyone suggest a good quality Tempered glass and good quality Scree Protector Film?

It will offer some protection but if the phone lands a certain way the screen is going to crack regardless of what you've got on.
I just used a basic film one but the fingerprint is a bit crap. Glass ones never fitted right.
Hey you can try using Siege Glastimate+ for Galaxy S20+. It's a UV glue tempered glass. Price is quite high but it is really case friendly tbh bc im using the glass with my Ringke Fusion-X casing with no problem. And also the tempered glass has no touch issues whatsoever bc it is a UV glue not like normal tempered glass with edge only glue. And for the back panel I'm using a cheap carbon fibre sticker to avoid scratches haha
I bought the one from *******.. to much of my surprise it actually is quite good.
Installation was easy with an included guide/holder. The film has 2 parts that lets you apply the top half first then the bottom.
It's super thin, like what you'd see from the factory. The TPU film is also really smooth.

Did any of you found a good screen protector that is case friendly? I want to use it with a Spigen case. Thanks!

Cases that work with Whitestone Dome glass

I've been waiting to install my whitestone dome glass until I finally received a full body case. I finally received 2 of the Spigen cases and I come to find out that if I install the whitestone glass then the front part of the case won't go on, on either of my cases. Has anyone found a case that works with the whitestone dome glass.
Just in case you're wondering I have the Spigen Thin Fit design case and the Spigen Ultra hybrid design clear case.
I wouldn't imagine that there would a front case cover that would be compatible with the Whitestone Dome screen protector due to the fact that the screen protector curves. If the case is made to fit over the tempered glass than the plastic around that area would much thinner and weaker. This might be possible if the case is made out of Aramid. Then this is were my mind goes in circles, why didn't Samsung create an Aramid front cover and just the back one only. When I first noticed that the Whitestone screen protector I immediately thought there will be for sure many complaints regarding either "defective" or bad design screen protectors due to the pressure of the front case cover on the screen protector, causing the protector to shift.

This is what I was worried about. It didn't seem like the whitestone would fit with a front case. So i guess leads to the next question, what will provide better protection, a whitestone glass or a front case. I feel like day to day, the front case will help prevent a lot of scrapes and scratches but when your drop it, i don't know if it will really protect the screen. Decisions decisions. First world problems....

So for protection, front case would be the way to go. This wouldn't apply to all case, ie something sharp could still damage the outside screen. If a drop does happen, front case or just case would offer better protection. The downside on most front cases, are the limited ability to swipe down or just touch response around the edges of the screen.

I found this today. This guy installed both the whitestone glass and the Spigen case at the same time. You just have to deal with the front case being lifted a little. But it's not that bad.

Question Which front glass screen Which front glass screen protector

From experience of using front screen glass protectors for the fold 3, which would you recommend for the fold 4?
Yes won't purchase from whitestone due to bad support they gave when trying to get support on screen protector and how rude they were. Even though I used to recommend them a lot before. But when needed. They failed. But that was my experience. Should be decent but haven't used them for more than a year since it happened. With the note 20 ultra release.
Spigen looks decent but haven't used their screen protectors as used AMfilm. But they don't seem to have for the fold. So still seeing on what to use. As well.
But seeing both would be about same warranty just depends on who handles it better.
The Spigen comes with guide to install it but whitestone comes with 2 at a cheaper price.
The good thing of these is not as the note series that they are $30 to $45 per pack.
The Spigen is so easy to install, plus I don't see the point of installing or replace the inner screen protector. We can get Samsung to do it for free? or cheaply after a year.
I went with the non liquid adhesive whitestone simply because i have it on my fold 3 and it works well. Plus the kit came with a film hinge protector as well.
this one. it involve soap water while applying. i dont know if we can apply the inside protector over and bove the stock one on inside screen
https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B0B9YQF2LF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Installed the Whitestone last night with no issues. This one is not as easy as the Spigen since there is no lineup template but I like that I received 2 front screen protectors, a camera protector and an edge guard.
can we apply screen procetor above the factory one inside? last year the inside screen protector oleophobic coating got weared off and it was so hard to scroll. this time thinking of applying another one, so that i can change it every 5months or so
I applied the Spigen EZFit on my Fold4 today, came out perfect. They make a great product, been buying their stuff for years.
Recieved my fold 4 today
Immediately i put on spigen glass Tr
The front tempered glass is good
And doesn’t interfere with the case lips
But the hinge protector is not working as advertised.
The hinge protector from spigen is very thin already but after installing it, everytime i open or close the screen it will get caught up and peeled off on edges
Maybe the gap between the hinge and the screen is slimmer this time
So I don’t think we can put any protector on the hinge without interfering with the mechanism.
On my old flip 1 it was ok
I tried the Whitestone and it is smaller than the front screen?!?!?!? I should send it back!

I also got the whitestone. I must say it perfectly covers the actual LCD part with about 2mm extra glass borders. The camera lense cutout is quite perfect as well, with the face unlock light ring lining up perfectly. I would certainly have preferred the glass to be taller and wider, but that's to prevent case interference as we know. Sometimes later in the cycle certain companies release their "edge to edge" screen protects, would want to see if any of them come up.
The included camera cover also fits quite perfectly, no have issues with the official Samsung case cutout.
The included hinge protector film I didn't try, not sure if it would mess with the mechanism to keep dust/grime out.
Overall for the price, I think it's pretty good.
Waiting for my Whitestone EZ glass screen protector to arrive. In the meantime, I already have a fairly deep scratch in the front glass. Ive babied this phone and have zero clue where it came from.
