How do I unroot my 10E G4? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would i be able to unroot just by flashing my original system.img or would i have to use a .kdz file?
Im about to use the Root Injection method in which i back up my system to a .img file and inject root into it. The model number is LG-H815, the bootloader is 1.1, and the software version is V10e-SEA-XX.
The only kdz available at hyelton's Stock firmware repository is the SEA H81510B while i have the 10E. Is it safe to use if it i wanted to unroot? Alternatively, is there some guide that allows me to create my own kdz or does anybody know of a .kdz specific to my device?

your original system image will work fine.

TOT method makes strict check, KDZ method does not
e980 which is AT&T's model imply TOT method for flashing back the phone. During the process it checks SBL3, as I understand, for the model of the phone. If it doesn't match, you get this error. If you proceed with KDZ method (not AT&T's ROMs), LG Flash Tool 2014 is not checking a model of your phone. You will be able to flash a ROM, but your device will not be reported as AT&T's LGE980 and you may have an access to 16GB only of internal space (if the image is for 16GB model). This is, btw, the quickest way to get your phone back to life if it is bricked. After that you will still not be able to use TOT method because SBL3 is still not native to your phone.
For success with TOT method you have to replace SBL3 along with SBL2, SBL1, aboot, and (probably) rpm and tz partitions from AT&T image, because secure boot checks each next partition to be matching the current one. You can take their images from extracted TOT file and use dd command from custom recovery or rooted Android system.
WARNING: it is quite dangerous to get a hard brick, so do it at your own risk and only if you understand what you are doing.

Hi I just found a solution to these problems that is much simpler than this. I have an att E980, and I wanted to see if I could get the sim to work on the stock lollipop kdz version only to discover that I could not, and was stuck from flashing back using TOT method, well I found a method to get back to a version of e980 in order to use the TOT method, I am working a full in depth tutorial post for it but long story short is if you flash the wrong version all you need to do is download the panama E980h kdz where all the other modem files are located here, http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+Optimus+G+Pro/Stock/E980H/ | flash it using the lg 2014 flash tools. Then you will be able to use any e980 tot file again to flash, I just restored my phone back to stock with no model error issue.

[Q] Root KDZ image

Hi guys,
I just want to ask if somebody tried to create a pre-rooted kdz to be flashed with the flash tool 2014?
I read in the G2 forums, that it should be possible by performing the following steps:
extract 'original' KDZ-file and DZ-files
hex-edit bin files
repack the KDZ file
With this method and chainfire's SuperSU beta it should be able to create pre-rooted Lolipop KDZ files, isn't it?
Installing TWRP on Lolipop should work or even creating a KDZ with TWRP or CWM included.
Unfortunately, I fail hex-editing the .bin - is there anybody that can perform this step?
There are some tutorials in the LG G2 or L9 forums here on xda.
Its easier to flash prerooted rom then this.
Not if you are already on stock Lolipop (I am on 20E).
I would now need to downgrade to 10L, root, bump & install new ROM.
And if you want to stay stock but rooted, you can use the 'official' way with the LG Flash Tool.
Doesn't bootloader check KDZ's signature before flashing it?..
About editing .bin files... System.bin is only an ext2 image, mounting and editing it is trivial. The problem is repacking everything to .dz + dll and finally to .kdz,
Just that could be a solution for rooting stock lollipop lg g3. Like: download kdz by well known imei link (http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=), root it, flash without wiping. But scince .dz + dll is a problem then probably there will be some another rooting method possible sooner... (Downgrading is not a solution for 2 reasons: requires wipe i think, imagine a new model/revision with lollipop preinstalled by default).
HI, did u downgrade or just got any flashable file for prerooted lollipop ?

Thats really sad im still waiting to root my phone. But support for H815 SEA is very low :crying::crying:

Pretty sure you can root that model check the easy root method. Im on H185T Australian and have root

But i need confirmation from a SEA variant holder.

As I understand it the low effort root works with the SEA variant. Is there any downsides to flashing the EU image on the SEA device?
I'm a SEA variant holder here.
It's fine, you can use the Low Effort Root method. You can also flash the EU open KDZ without any problem.
You lose VoLTE, but to me it doesn't matter so I don't really care.
I'm running the latest 10E ATM, and it's much much better than 10B, so flash away.
If you don't want to loose anything you have to inject root yourself. You need linux for this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
This guide describes how to backup your system partition to an img file.
Then you have to use linux to inject root. You will get a rooted img file.
You can then copy the file back to your system partition.
If you want to check your "dd" parameters, you can use my guide to calculate your values:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/how-to-determine-dd-parameters-lg-g4-t3184867
IMPORTANT:
Backup your files before doing this steps!
If you don't know what you are doing, wait for someone else to do it.
Download the kdz for your phone, so you can flash the stock rom if it doesn't work.
Do you have some experience with linux?
SEA Variant user here. Singapore set also. No issues when flashing in regards to rooting part.
If you just want to root, you could just take up flashing either via the Low Effort Root, or you could go for alternatives like the rooted system image that I have created or others, but make sure they are using EU OPEN KDZ in case of conflicting basebands and such.
And if you are going to upgrade to 10d/10e, I'd suggest downloading the KDZ, normal flash it, so that you can get your baseband and kernel updated before flashing the root image of your choice.

This is not a how to root a kdz.
This is how to root the system.img.
I know the guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62704051&postcount=9
I think you know what the difference is?
The kdz is a packed file which contains system, modem, boot,... files.
The system.img is an raw image of the system partition.
To root a kdz, you had to unpack it, inject root, repack it, create new checksums,....
That's a complex precess...
So I guess you don't know how to root a kdz?

You can download the latest version as a kdz.
Use this link and enter your IMEI:
Code:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=IMEI
You will get a download link.
Type
csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=
instead of
pkg03.lime.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=
to download the file.
Then you can use the LG Flash Tool to flash the kdz to your phone.
You will loose root. Don't know if you have root.
You will have to root you phone again, but with the appropriate system img.
(Or inject root yourself...)
Thank you
I tried and I got "/H81510B_00.kdz"
Same as what i have now
???
I don't have root yet anyway but wanted the latest os available.
Don't know why the latest does not appear

For your info, creating a rooted KDZ is currently not possible. If it was people would have done it already. And yes I do know the procedures to unpacking and repacking a KDZ for your info If it was possible to done it, I wouldn't be posting rooted images of just the system image itself and would have provided people with the rooted KDZ to save their time And also from what I know, I don't think there is any way for you to apply a root package in a KDZ and flash it together due to the modified md5 sum and such.

Then it seems that only V10b is available for your phone.
Other users flashed the EU image which is 10e.
But why do you need an update?
If everything is working fine you shouldn't need an update.
Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to take a few days to digest. If I can ask a quick question without starting a new thread. Does the adb backup, backup the system partition as well or just data and apps?

No adb backup can not backup your system partition.
It can only backup program settings, apps and data.
To backup your system partition, you need (the Send_Command.exe and) the "dd" command.
I have already rooted using the low effort root method. Used a pre-rooted system image. Still on 10b-SEA. everything works fine. Xposed is also working.

not if u backup all apps i use all in one tool box so when u go back stock just download all in one then restore apps make sure ure back saves on external sd or will be lost on restore from tot.
A TWRP flashable *.zip can be created from the KDZ file, but I'm not sure how it's done. Unfortunately the only TWRP flashable ZIPs I'm aware of are for the D851, those having been created from the 20b, 20e, and 20g KDZs.

Well I recommend a clean TOT or KDZ flash. Hope this will fix your problem. Please do follow this post to flash TOT or KDZ http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2785089 then Update If update available (Sometimes we get update in KDZ or TOT) then reroot again
