How to dump/make backup of stock firmware or .img files on a non rooted Lg G4 H818P - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I'd like to dump stock firmware or make backup of system.img and others img stock partitions BEFORE make root on my Lg G4 H818P.
I've tried dd method but it doesn't work because adb asks for root permissions.
My firmware version is 10L EU and its KDZ files doesn't exists at this moment.
Is there some working method to get a backup?
Thanks in advance.

First saw it on a P936 in Singapore at a LG roadshow, LG official GB 2.3.6.
Managed to grab it directly off LG's server, below KDZ is untouched (without root) except zipping it into 2 parts.

For those with CWM installed, below is an upload of the nandroid backup of the V10e ROM (stock with root)
Unzip and copy the '2012-08-12.05.03.45' folder with all contents to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup, restart in CWM and restore

After restoration, if you wish to, flash the below firmware / baseband to get the V10e baseband
OR
You can also use the V10e baseband on ANY ROM that you are on at the moment; I am using it with CM10

Unzip and copy the 2 IMG files to the root of your sd card.
Reverse the source and destination in the code by drumist at post #4 to flash (you may want to backup your firmware and baseband first if yet to do so)
For those who wish to go through the whole nine yards yourself, refer to the post below on how to root stock LG 2.3.6 on P93X (replacing V10c KDZ with V10e KDZ from above; SuperOnceClick, Doomlord won't work)

Can somebody extract the baseband and firmware img files from the KDZ?
Or provide a tutorial on how to do it?
Meanwhile, will continue to google on how to extract, will update this thread with baseband / firmware if I managed to do it

Last time I looked into it, no one knows how to extract the KDZ files for the P93x phones (or more specifically, the TOT files inside them). They don't work the same as some of LG's previous phones. The only way to get the baseband/firmware images is to flash the KDZ and then copy the images off the phone (root required) -- at least, until someone figures out how to extract the TOT files directly.

any idea is it possible to root a P93X LG Official 2.3.6?
and how does one backup baseband / firmware?
to flash a KDZ directly, do I follow the unbrick method?
if possible, i will flash, backup the baseband / firmware and upload for those who wants it

1) Don't know.
2) From adb shell or terminal emulator:
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/firmware.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p14 of=/sdcard/baseband.img
3) Yes.
It's entirely possible that Zergrush will work on this 2.3.6, but we won't know until somebody tries.

it is not possible to root P936 V10e (2.3.6) using SuperOneClick or Doomlord atm, however, the below method works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29280358&postcount=21
a roundabout method to keep stock and root, tedious but works 100%
i will be uploading the V10e firmware/baseband and a full nandroid backup of rooted V10e (sorry, still looking into how to make a cwm flashable zip) shortly.

You don't really need to do a nandroid backup. You can just do this to back up everything at once (including firmware/baseband):
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p8 of=/sdcard/boot.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13 of=/sdcard/recovery.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/firmware.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p14 of=/sdcard/baseband.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p27 of=/sdcard/system.img
This is slightly better if you do it before you install CWM since it will include the original recovery image. But most people don't really need the recovery partition anyway.
If you upload a nandroid backup, you might want to delete the data partition since it may contain personal information (if you've entered any).

thanks. i did backup the above files, just in case, however, did not upload them due to large size of system.img
i did a factory reset before nandroid-ing, when another user restores, he/she will be welcomed by the setup screen
Didn't really need to do a factory reset, you wouldn't be uploading your /data
So you got the V10e rom rooted then?

yup, the nandroid backup contains the stock v10e plus root
or for those who wish to give it a go for themselves, they can download the KDZ and follow the instructions from another thread as stated at the bottom of the opening post.
in fact, that keep root method of indirect rooting applies to ALL P93X 2.3.X roms if my understanding is correct, as it roots the leaked ics v18f instead; one can also look at it as a shorter version of unbricking that doesnt involve korean roms, and most importantly, allows one to use any LG stock rom rooted
i went through all the hassle not for the rom but for v10e's baseband and firmware, i m presently in Singapore where v10e is the latest baseband used on the optimus lte (p936) here, so i thought it would be good to have it on my Nitro HD (p930) too, of course it may make no difference vis-a-vis the p930's v10f baseband/firmware for daily usage or any felt difference may simply be a result of placebo effect
thanks helped me get my 4g working again

OP updated 09/14 with P936 V10F firmware and baseband files
fellow member drumist has very kindly created cwm flashable zips for P936's V10e and V10f basebands / firmwares, you can get them here:

recommended over manually pushing IMGs as it involves no typing, so no chance of messing things up
Problem with LG P936 Signal.
I am a programmer from Cuba in my hands I have a LG P936 which I installed a ROM cm 10.1 compatible with the device but in the process I made an oversight and did not do wipe / cache data and as it is obvious the terminal entered into Bootloop I did the Umbrick with a ROM version V18f that was developed as an ICS upgrade for the LG nitro HD from ATT and came with a guide that I found in xda forums and now receives the signal but it falls in a few moments and tells me without cover, my provider is Cubacel. What do you advise me to do?

[Q] Root KDZ image

Hi guys,
I just want to ask if somebody tried to create a pre-rooted kdz to be flashed with the flash tool 2014?
I read in the G2 forums, that it should be possible by performing the following steps:
extract 'original' KDZ-file and DZ-files
hex-edit bin files
repack the KDZ file
With this method and chainfire's SuperSU beta it should be able to create pre-rooted Lolipop KDZ files, isn't it?
Installing TWRP on Lolipop should work or even creating a KDZ with TWRP or CWM included.
Unfortunately, I fail hex-editing the .bin - is there anybody that can perform this step?
There are some tutorials in the LG G2 or L9 forums here on xda.
Its easier to flash prerooted rom then this.
Not if you are already on stock Lolipop (I am on 20E).
I would now need to downgrade to 10L, root, bump & install new ROM.
And if you want to stay stock but rooted, you can use the 'official' way with the LG Flash Tool.
Doesn't bootloader check KDZ's signature before flashing it?..
About editing .bin files... System.bin is only an ext2 image, mounting and editing it is trivial. The problem is repacking everything to .dz + dll and finally to .kdz,
Just that could be a solution for rooting stock lollipop lg g3. Like: download kdz by well known imei link (http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=), root it, flash without wiping. But scince .dz + dll is a problem then probably there will be some another rooting method possible sooner... (Downgrading is not a solution for 2 reasons: requires wipe i think, imagine a new model/revision with lollipop preinstalled by default).
HI, did u downgrade or just got any flashable file for prerooted lollipop ?

Ota update help

Can someone help?

Thanks for the reply. That means I'll have to install all apps all again.
Any method I can make the Ota file flashable through recovery?

not if u backup all apps i use all in one tool box so when u go back stock just download all in one then restore apps make sure ure back saves on external sd or will be lost on restore from tot.
A TWRP flashable *.zip can be created from the KDZ file, but I'm not sure how it's done. Unfortunately the only TWRP flashable ZIPs I'm aware of are for the D851, those having been created from the 20b, 20e, and 20g KDZs.

Well I recommend a clean TOT or KDZ flash. Hope this will fix your problem. Please do follow this post to flash TOT or KDZ http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2785089 then Update If update available (Sometimes we get update in KDZ or TOT) then reroot again

How do I unroot my 10E G4?

Would i be able to unroot just by flashing my original system.img or would i have to use a .kdz file?
Im about to use the Root Injection method in which i back up my system to a .img file and inject root into it. The model number is LG-H815, the bootloader is 1.1, and the software version is V10e-SEA-XX.
The only kdz available at hyelton's Stock firmware repository is the SEA H81510B while i have the 10E. Is it safe to use if it i wanted to unroot? Alternatively, is there some guide that allows me to create my own kdz or does anybody know of a .kdz specific to my device?
your original system image will work fine.
