Samsung and or tmobile don't care if the phone is rooted with knox tripped.
Have a great day.

had anybody actually tried to send in their rooted edge+ for any reason and ended up being rejected because of root?

I've sent tmobile, Samsung and asurant my rooted phone. Never had any issues.

Sent my Knox tripped S6 edge+ in and it was denied service because of Knox being tripped

[Q] Clarifying questions..

I'm thinking of upgrading from my GS3, non lte, to the Note 3. As I've looked around the forms here, it would seem as though Knox is an added security measure so t-mobile can more easily detect root?
Is there a way to have root without tripping this counter? Is there a way to flash a custom Rom or kernel without tripping it?
If this has been answered apologize, I did look around before making new thread.
Thanks!
Also on a side note, white or black note 3?

Knox isn't really for T-mobile to detect root/custom firmware but for Samsung warranty. A fair amount of people on here have stated that they still sent their phones in to Sammy for warranty and they still got their phones fixed. T-mobile really only look for cracked screens, water damage and that the phone powers on and boots up. Not to say you'll never have an issue but i would say it's not really that big of a deal to trip the Knox counter. Especially if you bought the insurance like Asurion. I don't think they even care if your rooted and ROM'd
Awesome. My concern here is that I would be disqualified from the jump program... I'd like to get the Note 4 as soon as it comes out.. Is there currently any way to root and flash a room without tripping Knox? Or can we only root without tripping Knox?
Before this gets locked, yes you can root without tripping knox. As mentioned knox is for samsung to deny repairs if they see fit (if the phone is sent to them). Tmobile could care less if the phone is rooted or not. You just have to be careful about warranty repairs for samsung, thats what they may or may not look at.

On the old 4.3 firmware yes you can root with Root De La Vega and not trip the Knox counter but once you put ANY custom recovery it will trip the counter. Now on the OTA 4.4.2 that was released on Wednesday, the only 2 current ways to root (TWRP or Philz CWM) will trip the Knox counter no matter what. So until something comes out like an updated ROOT De La Vega, there's no way to even root without tripping the Knox counter.
Also from what i read, RDLV isn't being developed anymore so unless they decide to do something with it for the all the 4.4.2 releases hitting phones these days there may not be anything for a bit to root without tripping knox.

That is true for 4.3 but so far you can't on 4.4 from everything I have seen. Do you now of a way to not trip knox on 4.4?

Did I miss something? Is there a way to Root 4.4.2 without tripping Knox? I don't care I've tripped Knox the first night i had my N3 but I didn't think there was a way. Kningo and RDLV i thought borked the phones and caused bootloops.
My t-mobile store says that if you root your phone then it voids your warranty, so obviously they won't allow me to upgrade... So I know they check for it.. How is it you guys have stores where they don't seem to care?

[Q] Samsung note 2 N7105 - KNOX not working

Hi,
I updated my Samsung galaxy note 2 N7105 for firmware 4.3 and I found that my Know was was and also the home screen changed to hot air balloon image, Then I tried rooting the phone but was not successful. Therefore I again flashed the firmware with 4.3 but this time the home screen wallpaper returned back to original one and Knox is not working and saying your device is not authorised to use Knox.
I really liked the Knox feature, Can someone help me how to restore back the phone so that I can use Knox again.
Thanks
Wtf?
Do you even know what knox is for and it's "features"?

If you root and trigger the Knox flag(0x1) you're device has Knox warranty void. This means Samsung will not support a broken Knox problem.

Hi,
Yes I have used Knox before. Yes you are right and I have read about 0x1 binary counter, but the question is there any way to reset this counter so that one can reuse Knox ?

What IS a Knox Counter

Sorry for the noobish question, but I keep hearing about this Knox counter thing on the Root Bounty threads, that people will pay extra if it doesn't trip Knox.
Can someone tell me WHAT Knox is, what it's significance is to the phone and to rooting/flashing?

Knox is built in security that samsung has created. problem is that when you root, it trips a knox counter so samsung or verizon can simply power the phone into the bootloader and see knox is tripped, and right away know the device is rooted, which voids any warranties.

Can Knox be removed somehow? Have other phones with Knox been successfully rooted without tripping it?

No, knox can not be removed. It also can NOT be reset. Yes, phones have been rooted without tripping knox. I had my Verizon Note 3 rooted and knox was not tripped.
Basically, here's how I explained it to a friend. Think of knox, as a saftey line keeping you from opening your car's hood. Your warranty is fine as long as you don't mess with the engine. You decide to cut that line, and pop the hood. That's tripping knox. If you tried to modify the engine and ended up blowing it up, yeah, you ****ed up! However, if didn't touch the engine, and then later had your car's horn stop working, it doesn't matter. Because you popped the hood, your engine car's warranty is GONE!

[Q] Help needed to understand knox

Hi, as stated, I need a bit of help understanding what's involved when Knox is tripped after rooting. I want to root my Note 4 (Verizon) but all the methods I've found will trip Knox. From what I understand after Knox has been tripped, Samsung will know you rooted and there for will void the warranty. Well that's easy to understand, but what about insurance I have with Verizon? Let's say I drop my phone and break the screen while it's rooted (meaning Knox has been tripped) and I take it to Verizon and pay the $100 or so deductible to fix/replace my phone. Will they also look at Knox and potentially say "No, Knox was tripped." I just want to better understand the situation I would be in when/if I trip Knox because I'm a huge phone person and not having my device rooted is killing me. I feel like there is half of a phone I'm not using. Thanks in advance guys!

Most important question. ..Do you have a VZW Developers Edition that you bought straight from Samsung? They only have a 30day warranty. Tripping KNOX is really not that important to DE owners. Asurion insurance will not replace a DE with a DE if claimed for damage. If you bought the phone from Verizon or any other retailer...you have a "Retail" device ....currently no root for Retail Devices..

I have retail. And I've seen root methods for select retail including Verizon, Sprint and T-mobile. Must not work anymore or something. And I just want to make sure if Knox is tripped my insurance with Asurion is still okay.

Never has been root for retail VZW Note 4......only for DE. No root makes it really hard to trip KNOX... No unlocked bootloader means no custom recovery. so no flashing to trip KNOX. Flashing a custom recovery (on unlockable phones) always trios KNOX now. Sprint and T-mobile have unlockabke bootloaders....ATT and Verizon are locked.

Knox trip?

From what I have seen, it seems like the only things that happen when knox is tripped is the warranty is voided, and you can't use Samsung Pay. So is it possible to get a full root and trip knox if I don't care about my warranty? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
