html5 videos corrupted with pixel c and ff - Pixel C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Who to report this issue too? It works under chrome but FF html5 videos are all corrupt and pixelated. No other Android device does this.

I have the same issue. I believe that you should report to Mozilla as it works fine in Chrome.

For those whos browsers crash with Flash content

I have just installed Skyfire Browser (beta) from the Market and the sites that crash for me using the Android built in browser are fine in Skyfire, ie BBC , sites that embed justin.tv videos.
i mainly use flash to watch football and the framerate is superb using Skyfire.
Hope this helps some people on here.
So you don't have todays Flash 10.1.95.1 update skewing the comparison?
5MB more gone...

No........... but ive just installed it and my usual sites are still crashing with the stock Android browser and fine with Skyfire
Here's a test then. How many embedded videos can you see and playon this page with the Skyfire browser? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9004741.stm

I clicked your link and it crashed
and even worse the sites which were ok for my about 10 minutes ago now crash!!!!!!
what have you done?
got it working again after uninstalled/reinstalling.
this is weird as the football videos on the scottish premier league section of the BBC website play fine.
I have the "Enable plug-ins" option set top On-Demand and when i try your link i do not even see a box where the flash videos should be.
If i set "Enable plug-ins" option to "always on" and try your link then the browser crashes.
Thanks for trying and persisting
It's pages like that giving us weird problems, like crashes, lag, no embedded video showing, etc.
There should be two Flash vids on that page to play. I too have plugins set to on-demand and if I change it to Always on, then try that page -> crash. I don't know what it is but it is limited to a few sites in my case so it doesn't bother me as much.

same **** man....browser crashing here on bbc football.
fixed the crash by setting plug-ins to on demand but still some missing videos.
tried dolphin browser too but same problem

BBC Iplayer HD Stutters

Ok I am using the Dophin Mini browser and I have set the User Agent to Desktop. When I go to bbc iplayer website, and go to view a show in high quality mode, it plays ok, but I am getting some stuttering.
When I go to play a HD video from the iplayer website, it is like watching a slide show its that slow.
So how come I can watch 1080p videos on youtube just fine, but I cant watch bbc iplayer videos.
How do you change the User Agent setting on the standard browser, as I believe that is GPU accelerated so I should be able to play bbc iplayer HD videos fine?
I don't think it is related to this site or the user agent that's not "gpu accelerated", the whole browser is hardware supported but there is some streaming players that are more optimized than others on the 3w. For now I only have a galaxy S and with the default browser I can watch 480p youtube videos just fine but I low quality videos stutter on some other sites like engadget, so I guess it's the same thing that happens to you.
And btw what's the point of watching 720p or 1080p videos on a 480p screen ?
Just stick with the resolution that you can watch it will be well enough I think. just my 2 cent

But watching the HD videos I do notice a difference in quality, there is less artefacts. Anyway even playing in standard definition I am getting a bit of stuttering.
And surely all flash videos should perform the same, my theory is because BBC Iplayer is using higher bit rate would that cause problems?
I think its all in your head, but anyways, opinions are opinions. Higher bitrate, maybe, who knows. And the issue for the UA string in the standard browser has been addressed atleast two times, so please search wisely next time. You change the UA string by typing in about:useragent

Ok changed the user agent thank you.
And I have three options for watching iplayer. I can either watch in mobile mode, which significantly degrades video quality. I can watch it in desktop mode on low quality mode, and believe me there is a DIFFERENCE in quality between the two. Or I can watch it in HD mode, but I agree there wont be much difference between HD mode and low quality.
Still getting stuttering even in Low quality desktop mode.
Yeah I've noticed this as well. Kinda surprised as I thought the phone would be able to handle iplayer HD or even standard considering it plays 1080p youtube videos in browser without any trouble. The only one that works in the browser is the mobile version.
I also tried using the iplayer app my phone came installed with and medium and high quality are both a bit laggy whereas low quality is fine
Iplayer is just as juddery using the iplayer app
I would be very interested in finding a fix for this, as the iplayer app is unwatchable on this phone, stuttering constantly. Even when connected to fast wifi / adsl. The quality also seems to be heavy on artifacts.
Why aren't more people complaining?
I've just loaded the KF3 firmware and iPlayer still stutters.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more flak generated by this. Maybe it's because I'm in a small minority of SGS2 owners affected?
Are there owners out there with a completely smooth BBC iPlayer experience?
Not for me ;-<
It's really annoying - anyone know how to solve this ?

So now that we have HTML5

What can we do with it?
Places like Vimeo won't let you see html5 video without detecting a specific browser. I believe youtube works the same way.
It seems like there is plenty of html5 content, but that it doesn't show if it doesn't recognize the browser.
what can we do more with html5? does it more faster?

indeed I also tried it on YouTube but it defaults back to the mobile website. Html 5 is quite useless now for the most popular video websites it seems.
you also tried changing the ie9 to "desktop"?

I totally forgot about that setting.
I changed it to desktop, enabled HTML5 on YouTube, and guess what, it started working just fine.
Update: I now realize that it doesn't work on all the YouTube videos, as I am guessing only a portion of them playback in HTML5. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it told me I needed Flash. Go figure.

Html5 video tag doesn't work in Android with local video files

Hi everyone.
I am not able to reproduce local video files, using video tag of Html5 in an Android application, even developing an Android cross walk application, the video Html5 tag only works fine with videos located in a http server, with local files includes in the application only works in full screen mode, otherwise only the audio is played, the video is showed as a black screen.
I think the issue could be related to the Web browser for Android, I tested the application in the latest version of the chrome Mobile browser and the behaviour is exactly the same.
Anyone know how to solve this issue?
By the way, the Android version where I am trying is 4.1
Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards
David
the issue is not with browser.its with the video. i too had the same issue when playing mp4 videos locally in webview. i tried different versions/ encoders when converting video and it worked without any code changes. just try converting the mp4 to different encoder or better try with a 3gp format. it will work
Thanks si much, I did some tests just related to you mean, but it doesn't work for me, may be if you could me the encoder, format, bitrate, etc. I will able to solve as you did.
Do you remember the combination you used.
Thanks a lot

David
I was able to execute correctly the app in other device, with mp4 and with webM video format, but in the initial device doesn't work fine, there, the video only works in full screen mode or if the video is located in Internet, if the video is located locally it only is reproduced if I tap the full screen icon of the Html5 video tag controls.
For this reason, I am not sure that the problem is related to the video, but with the Web browser, or may be with the device, the app works fine in other device with Android 4.2 and Android 4.4.
Any idea about how to try to solve for Android 4.1?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards
David
The problem is that the local files have "file://" protocol so they can't be played by just using the video tag, you need to use a video cordova plugin like:
https://github.com/moust/cordova-plugin-videoplayer
https://github.com/nchutchind/Streaming-Media-Cordova-Plugin
Hope I helped
Suggestion
I would suggest checking that the local file exists.
Perhaps a popup-box or console log that displays the url, and manually navigate to the URL.
This is almost always the issue for me -- other than file corruption it's self.
