First of all i would not recommend you use this kernel as a DD yet. It's mainly for reference and to show what i worked on trying to get root with the other devs. In the future once we have twrp i will build this kernel properly inline instead of tearing it apart editing and combining the stock kernel with parts of my custom one.
This kernel was merged on top of the msm8x16 caf branch that the kernel started on(LA.BR.1.1.3-02810-8x16.0) this allows me to see what changes Huawei made pretty easily as you can see in the source. This is how i found the nfc bits as well as root detect and system write protections. Currently it is not needed for the pre-rooted system root method though.
Kernel features:
Root_detect removed
System write protections removed
Left over NFC bits disabled
Vibrator Intensity Control over sysfs (/sys/devices/virtual/timed_output/vibrator)
Install instructions:
Because we do not have twrp yet we need to flash an actual boot.img through fastboot. If you have not unlocked your bootloader you have to before you can flash my kernel.
Go to your bootloader and type the following:
Code:
fastboot flash boot Stock_Deathly.img
Bugs:
Currently the camera breaks, trying to work on a fix for it

Are you sure you need Band 12 in the area? Usually, that is a secondary service anyway. They other bands are more wisely used. You could try using the LTE Discovery app in the play store and see what bands are in use nearby.
My wife has Ting (using the T-Mobile network) in the St Paul, MN area and my wife has no problems with LTE on the Honor 5x.

On the map there's band 12. Without having band 12 on my phone, i don't think lte discovery would be able to tell me if band 12 exists here, at least I don't see that option anywhere.

Oh sorry, I was assuming that you had not bought the 5x yet and that you were possibly using a different GSM phone that currently has band 12 support. It would make sense that if the phone you install the app on does not have band 12 support, neither will your results show that.
Here is to hoping that band 12 does get supported soon anyway!

Really? Well that's an awful thing to hear, he released TWRP for the honor 5x so I was expecting something like a custom kernel without a full ROM would be underway but I guess if he doesn't have the phone anymore, it can't be helped... :crying:

I probably won't provide any further updates to this ROM, mainly because my computer takes ages to compile (with only 4GB of RAM). Moreoever, my interest shifted towards other projects such as postmarketOS.
In fact, I didn't work on this ROM during the last month or so. That's why the build I uploaded dates back to June.
All my sources are uploaded. So, everyone is welcome to make improvements and share new builds in this thread!
Gapps
Gapps are not recommended as they make the device much slower. However, if you really need them, you can use microg instead.

Replace the ramdisk.img in the ROM zip with the one attached below. It contains Magisk v14.0 and it is taken from (°_o)'s ROM (thanks @(°_o) )
Then, you have to install the latest MagiskManager apk from https://github.com/topjohnwu/MagiskManager/releases

Well, it's not my ROM, @MYEUHD made it
And no, believe it or not I still use my S1 as my day-to-day phone - although only for texting and music. Partly because I don't need anything more, partly because there are no small phones (<5") around any more. I've tried a couple of 5" phones but they're not as convenient to carry around plus you can't cover the full screen with one handed use. The Palm phone looked interesting, until I found out it was a Verizon exclusive not available where I live.

me too was looking for a compact-not-looking-pan model to replace my glorious i9000. I found out that the A3 2017 was closer enough to its size and I'm quite satisfied. Now the only problem I see is that it lacks the same support from the xda community of modders, so I would be glad if you bought this model :^)
Hello after installing this rom I can not go back to the previous 6.0.1 error in the installation. I restored from the factory and still the problem persists. Any solution.

The Sony Xperia ZL has gotten even sweeter with the release of this unofficial LineageOS 16 build! This build is built directly from the LineageOS source and fusion3-common. This ROM is compatible with devices that have and unlocked bootloader and runs pretty stable from my testing. However, there are two issues with this build: Bluetooth and both cameras do not work. I aim to fix this in the future. The latest security updates are present in this build, and I plan to continue updating it every week or so.
NOTE: Bluetooth and both cameras do not work with the current build. I aim to fix this, but I need help in order to do so. If anyone would like to help me solve these issues, please help me out and reply to this thread with possible solutions. Just for reference, here is a short logcat of Bluetooth-related logs.
Screenshots
Issues
- Autorotate broken
- Bluetooth broken
- Camera/Flash broken
- Auto brightness broken
Download
You can download the newest build of the ROM over at my website. Older builds will also be available there in case you need them.
Installation & Setup
Download to your device and wipe system, data, and cache.
Flash the ZIP in your custom recovery (preferably TWRP).
OPTIONAL: Flash OpenGapps
Reboot & Enjoy
Root access
At the moment, there is no addonsu available for LineageOS 16. As such, in order to gain root access, you must flash Magisk onto your device. From there, install Magisk manager and you will have full root access available.

Great to see that our beloved ZL still got it going on... The only thing that keeps me from testing this right now is the camera, I use it a lot. Hope you can fix it. Thank you for your hard work! Cheers!!
Done Flashing with Magisk on it. So far so good, even in alpha build. It was smooth. Will stay on this rom and wait for bluetooth/Camera fix. Great Job!

What app are you using for the step counter? Since Oreo the sensor framework switched to Sony DASH, so that might be a limitation from that.
Flash the 12-10 Alpha build, here is what i observe after the update. Also do a benchmark test. Here is the result. Also the network traffic is not working but thanks for latest build. Much better
- Screen brightness works properly on MX player before you need 15% in able to work it on the player
- Gallery app now is available

Sim2 can run only with 2G ( gsm only) will use edge (e) ....data only ...if you need 4G you must put the card in sim1 slot ...
I have been using 4G on sim2 with my swift2 since when I bought it (my secondary sim is too big for slot2), and I began having issues with the latest official firmware upgrade.
Since it’s likely to be the last one (they moved to windows, sadly for them), I was looking for an alternative, but from what I read the issue is at the source

Occasionally.

Yo, any chance you can build one for 11 too?
I updated my TMO unit to the softbank build and I'm assuming that this twrp is for 11 only?
I assume this works fine with an OTG mouse??

This is super old post but I can confirm that using a mouse via OTG works just fine!

Thanks for this! I think adb sideload is not working. Can't find any adb devices after starting sideload
I'm using a XT2071-4 not -5. Do you know what's the difference?

any luck?
Thank you so much for making this!
I decided to void the remaining 6 or so months on my motocare warranty because I found I didn't like using an unmodified phone. This recovery works as advertised on my XT2071-3, and I was able to successfully extract the boot image to patch with Magisk.
Can you explain how... I have a -3 as well.. and when I fastboot twrp up it comes up for a moment then shuts off.. at one point i was able to connect thru adb with root.. .How would I extract the boot.img? Or can you post a rooted magisk with the latest a12? Please and thank you.

contact me on telegram @ afaneh92 for testing
@afaneh92 I don't know if I am totally dumb or if Telegram (app version) don't permit to PM somebody who don't appear in contacts, but even in XDA channel, I dont find your name. Mediafire link in XDA forum PM isn't possible and easier ?
Mine is Doghan13 on Telegram and I would be honored to give a try to your TWRP.

Anyone tried to flash the SM-G990B with this?
Supported models says only 990E but from a hardware point of view they are exactly the same. I would try it myself but I'm on vacation with a ****ty connection, if it fails downloading stock and re-flashing would take me weeks

What the hell?
I blindly trusted this info: https://www.phonemore.com/specs/samsung/galaxy-s21-fe/sm-g990bds-128gb/ which says exynos
I downloaded cpu-z to make sure and it sure says snapdragon, wtf? I though snapdragon was US/China and this is a brand new swedish phone

I guess that goes to show you that you shouldn't always trust sketchy websites (phonemore) lol. Matter of fact I think most if not all websites contain errors (including gsmarena) so it's always good to keep an open mind.
