[GUIDE] Disable "logd" process - NO MORE BATTERY DRAIN [ALL ROMs] [ROOT req] - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

[GUIDE] Disable "logd" process - NO MORE BATTERY DRAIN [ALL ROMs] [ROOT req]
Hi all,
I have the G4 (H815) for over 6 months and always (both Lollipop and Marshmallow) I have been suffering from a tremendous battery drain.
After a lot of research I discovered that the reason (the main reason) of my battery drain is due to "logd" process that normally burned over 15% (or more) for each charge cycle (checked with Better Battery Stats).
Obviously I tried everything, full wipe, change ROM but that process was always there to suck battery them.
I do not know why the process is so high but I know that deactivating it the problem is automatically solved
So finally I found a way to eliminate the underlying problem permanently by disabling the logd process from TWRP.
if you also have this problem, follow this simple guide and you will solve the problem permanently.
After disabling "logd" process the only evidence it is that logcat no longer works but for many I do not think it's a problem.
Anyway you can always go back and put everything back as it was.
[Before Start]
I suggest you to make a FULL BACKUP before you follow this guide.
I am not responsible if your brick your phone.
[Prerequisites]
Root
TWRP
[Step by step Guide]
Reboot phone into Recovery (TWRP) and click "Mount"
Check System and then press "back"
Click "Advanced"
Click "File Manager"
Choose the "system" folder
Choose "bin" folder
Choose "logd" file and press "Select"
Click "Rename files"
Add ".bak" and then press "Go"
Swype right to confirm
Press Home button
Restart => System
Now, "logd" process is permanently disabled and should not appear between processes (verified with Better Battery Stats).
To put everything back as it was before, just rename back "logd.bak" file to "logd" by following the same procedure above.
See the attached screen for a visual guide.
I also attach my battery stats AFTER disabling the "logd" process.
Before deactivating I did not reach the 2 hours of SOT. Now they are 4 or more with 20hrs of standby
All without Amplify or other battery savers
Let me know if this works for you.
EDIT:
Some users reported that renaming \system\bin\logd to \system\bin\logd.bak using a root explorer and then reboot .. works too.
Ty.
If you find this guide useful ... press "Thank you". :good:

Unfortunately, I realized that my system runs much non-circular. I test further.
The file renaming with Explorer works the same.

I have the Loggong reactivated and my system is running as well as ever. Several times tested.
I suspect that the battery saving on cost of slower system goes.

that should not be ... is that the international version of B107?
try to make factory default, think that should work or try to reflash the B107 ...
good luck
Have disappeared because they match the folder path CUST.
First you must be ROOT
Second with Root Explorer app, go to the folder "data" and see the contents of custom.bin
Depending on the file custom.bin say, is as it should rename folders CUST.
For example if it says "Orange/dm", that means that inside the folder "CUST" the folder must exist "Orange" and within it another folder "dm".
If not there you can rename the folder "Channel" to "Orange" and within it you choose to rename the folder to "dm" much of the country that depends on where you live, could be renamed folder "namerica" to "dm" or "neeurope" to "dm"
Finally do a factory reset
Best Regards

"custom.bin" method does not work. For some reason I have "unicom/cn" inside custom.bin. Tried to change custom to Orange/Dm does not work. Tried to rename Orange directory to "unicom" and dm Directory to cn does not work.
Anyway thanks

Of course, if it works, I've tried several times and if it works.
Maybe I did not understand the procedure.
I'll try to explain it better:
1. You must be ROOT
2. Having installed the app Root Explorer
3. Log in to Root Explorer and find the file custom.bin
4. You must remember the contents of this file.
5. Go to the root folder, using the Root Explorer
6. Go to the folder Cust
7. Rename the folders according to the content of step 3.
8. Perform Factory Reset
At no time should change the file contents custom.bin.
Best Regards
succed the process, but bring more painful problem.

it is definitely there from what i can tell. It's named update.zip, it was modified today, and it is 614MB
maybe it wont let me grab it because the phone is on? should i power off and grab it via usb cable? currently trying to modify it via Root File Manager App.

Is it giving you any kind of error? Since it's Write only, you'll probably have to change the permissions to be able to copy it from the cache folder. You should be able to do it with Root File Manager. I know I can with Root Explorer.

i created a 0byte file named update.zip in the cache folder and rebooted, and now it is telling me it is ok to install. (my battle level is below 50% so it wont let me). so i cured the modified error. but the actual download is still MIA. says device status is normal. it was probably kicking that error because it couldnt find the update.zip since i somehow renamed it and it decided to play Where's Waldo.

[Doesn't work] Fix WiFi disconnecting problem running a stock ROM.

When I'm using my phone with it's stock ROM installed and I don't set manually the IP parameters, my device has a WiFi disconnect issues. After a lot of searching, I finally found a solution to fix the problem !
Steps :
Before, make a copy or a backup of the file wpa_supplicant.conf which is present in /system/etc/wifi/ (using a file manager with root permissions, such as Root Explorer)
Open it and search for ctrl_interface, its value used to be : ctrl_interface=/data/system/wpa_supplicant
Replace it with eth0 and it will look like : ctrl_interface=eth0
Delete ctrl_interface_group line and its value
Save the file and change the permissions to 777
Reboot your phone (and wipe dalvik-cache if there's a glitch)
I can't guarantee anything but at least for me it worked and I wanted to share it with the community.
Doesn't work.

If you suffer too from random disconnects (every 5 mins for example), you can set manually the settings in your Wi-FI parameters. (DNS, submask address ect ..)

[GUIDE]How to install latest Marshmallow KDZ on the LG Spirit

Hello, as some of you may already know, we can't flash MM kdz on our LG Spirit using LG Flash Tool, so we have to use LG UP, a method which is also used by LG G4c owners. I drew the idea from them, since G4c and Spirit are practically the same devices. I've modified a script from G4c, all credits go to @bender_007.
So here are the steps:
1. Make sure you have USB drivers installed.
2. Download and install LG UP: http://www.filedropper.com/g4 ---- First install LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_3_23, then LGUP_Install_Ver_1_14_3.
3. Download the script that makes LG UP recognize our device as H440n(Courtesy of @bender_007, I only modified small parts of it). Link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lbxdwloffi75qqg/AABfz5e9AIiSxipsnZQIiikGa?dl=0 (Download as zip)
4. Extract the zip and run h440n.bat
5. Connect your Spirit in MTP mode.
6. Run LG UP and wait for it to load.
7. Leave all settings as they are.
8. Under file path, browse to the kdz file you downloaded. NOTE: It won't show in the directory it is in, because the browse window sees only .tot files, so you have to manually type in the KDZ name in the text field and select it that way.
9. Click Start
10. Wait
11. ???
12. Profit! Enjoy your LG Spirit running Marshmallow!
Thanks, I had to manually copy the dll in the LGUP folder, dunno if it's my fault, or script's fault though.

I got adaptive storage to work! It's pretty simple. Just follow the guide from modaco.com (search for "modaco adaptive storage galaxy s7" on google", I don't think I can post links).
Then go to Settings -> Storage & USB -> Your SD Card -> Merge (in the additional menu).

You need to replace stock services.jar with my file. In /system/ I give it permissions and move it to framework/.
services.jar should only be in framework/
