APP for Battery drain fix - T-Mobile LG V10 Themes and Apps

:good: My v10 had been suffering from batter drain ever since i got my phone last year. I kept looking up information about other peoples problems and how mine differed from theirs. Aside from doing the basic phone setting tweaks, rooting, and greenify my battery life still suffered. I came across an app called Gservicefix from the play store and it increased my battery life by alot. Normally i would get around 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours SOT with my normal use like listening to music, youtube, facebook, intagram, (would be snapchat but cant seem to get it to work) browsing the web. Now i get 2 hours SOT with 30% battery used. I will post a picture if permitted with my battery life and SOT after more use. For those who are looking for something else to try because it can not hurt I say download the app and do what it tells you to do which is simple.
the app is called Gservicefix
it will ask that you have a full charge 100% and cord plugged in just FYI then follow the instructions and see if it works for you.

As quoted from the Play Store: "After using app. turn off gps and sync to save battery according to usage."
It will take couple of times to work depending on os version. Its a workaround for the battery drain bug caused by Services / OS / System. *Tested on limited devices only . Services are the background tasks on devices that keeps all of the company's services in sync and updated. This covers basic environment, among other services which results in heavy battery drain of your device."

So if you have to turn off gps and sync and turn them on when needed, then why do I need to install the app? Just turn on and off gps and sync and get the same results, no?

it is a work around for the battery drain. after using it i found out that if you remove the battery you would have to do the process all over which can be a hassle if your in a rush. The app did work for me but i since found a better solution that i will post in a the general forum.

What was your better solution?

Use Naptime, a greenify like app, but more suitable for V10.

Rapid Battery Drain - How can I improve?

My battery seems to be draining quite fast. I have removed a lot of bloatware, but I'm not getting the type of performance that others are getting.
It has lost 70% in 5 hours just doing a little browsing, watching a 20minute video and playing a game for half an hour. This was with Wifi on, and mobile data switched off, and background data switched off too.
I've had the device for a week now and I've charged it every day.
Any Ideas on how to improve it?

Could well be your brightness level? Are you using autobrightness or is it on a fixed level (I hope its not fixed at 100%!)
If you use autobrightness try using an app like LUX auto brightness instead.

Thanks for that, I did have it on Auto brightness for the first few days, but the last few days I switched it off just in case it was that, but the problem remained. I will try LUX auto as you suggested.

My guess is a corrupted media file somewhere which is causing your media server to prevent the phone from going into deep sleep. When you go to settings , battery, is media the no 1 juice sucker?

Yeah I got rid of the radio and media player from one of the homescreens as they showed quite heavily in wake up time. but the battery still kept draining fast.

I wouldn't mind, but I just bought it 8 days ago, people are experiencing a lot longer battery life than I can.
Immediately just played a game and look how much has gone.
Why is Android system using up so much? I've even got location switched off and Google search etc. is deleted.
If 're not using Xposed Frameowrk for tweaks, looking into enabling ART - I did that and my battery life has been impressive.

I did try that, but it didn't work and the phone was a bit laggy. Why would android system take up 15% of whatever the battery uses? I'm getting so frustrated, I might do a factory reset.
Here is the picture of what is being used, down 40% in such a short time. :

A shot in the dark:
Do you skype? Skype was draining the battery down in the Nexus 7 2013 even when you were not using it. I disabled it and the battery improved greatly.
Another option:
It sounds to me that there's an app that is draining the battery down a whole lot. I would try to isolate that app (by deleting each one you downloaded one at a time) until you have found it.

I don't have skype, but I like your idea - I've gotten rid of almost all the bloatware stuff. What I think I'll do now is charge it to max. DO a factory reset and not allow Google to start downloading all my apps again.
Funny thing though - when I charged it last night and unplugged it for 3 hours it only dropped a couple of percent. It started dying rapidly after I opened up a few other apps.
What I'll do now is charge do a factory reset, then switch it off, then charge to max before turning it on again. When I first got it, it turned on as soon as I plugged it in. did the same happen for everyone?
What you might want to do is download Greenify on the play store. This will tell you what apps are running in the background and then it will turn them off (hibernate).

Make sure that you leave the battery charging for about 10-15 minutes more after your cradle light turns green. Sometimes the battery isn't fully charged despite the cradle light turning green. 30 minutes on a game shouldn't be using that much battery consumption.
I usually get about 10-12 hours or more on each of my batteries ( video calling, chatting, games and my 4g is turned on 90% of the time
Try this from Google Play

Frustrating Battery Situation. Let's figure it out! help??

I never had a good battery on this phone since I bought it (second hand)
my average SoT is about 2hrs for around 15h uptime daily
I formatted many times trying to fix it, changed roms, kernels, governors, interactive profiles. nothing worked
I thought it was the battery. so I changed it by myself and it's the same, or even worse than before (lol)
Yesterday I removed my google account to see if I have too many services running. and still have 25% active drain and 3% idle (ex kernel manager stats). too much
I don't know what to do now.
1) someone suggested me to watch wakelocks but I need help on that because I don't know how exactly and what look for
2) do you think that could actually be the device? is it possible that lg could accept it as defective? I don't think so. they should be able to repeat my issue, and we know that isn't possible since battery usage is very personal
3) do you have any configuration you suggest me to try.....? maybe I'm missing something
Thank you for your attention, I hope that this thread will be useful for everyone
Personally, that's just about right for me. I think I get about the same SOT if I had light usage. Usually though I get 3-3.5 hours SOT with around 12 hours off the charger. I top off for an hour on the charger once a day everyday and just got used to it. A lot of times if people have longer uptimes, doze was working overnight.

Have you tried to flash it back to the stock nexus image? (Return it entirely to stock) That would be my first step in nailing down battery issues. It will completely wipe your device, but it rebuilds all the partitions and updates everything to the newest images. (Assuming you've downloaded the newest release from google). Then you can run it on pure stock for a few days and monitor it. My n5x isn't the greatest either with battery, and standby drain is brutal on nougat no matter how you configure it, but I usually get at least 4 hours of sot. It also depends what you have running. If you're using bluetooth and location services, google assistant ect, it follows the battery is going to drain much quicker. If you flash the stock image, you need adb and fastboot installed. There's lots of guides here on XDA.
@throcker, my advice: try a ROM, stock or PureNexusc, clean flashed, without GApps, any Sync off, GPS and mob data off. You should get 5-7h SOT.

but...I'm really bounded with google services stuff, I sync my pc chrome, keep, docs, maps....
I think I'll give this a try, but there is no way I could run that setup as my daily.....
Same here and I don't really know what to do... Really frustrating and I don't even have BT, NFC and GPS toggled on!
Use BettetBatteryStats to check for wakelocks during the night to see if something is keeping the phone awake. Then I also recommend either unplugging the phone from the charger right before going to bed or setting a custom reference point to check how much the phone drains during idle. I had the problem that my phone was draining about 2.5%/h in idle even with nothing installed, airplane mode, everything off and so on. This turned out to be a hardware problem which could only be fixed by replacing the motherboard. So check if you have the same symptoms that I did.

Battery Consumption Too High

Hello Guys and Gals,
Its been awhile since i have been on here. But i have been very satisfied with my Note4. However. It had come to a point that carrying 4 batteries with me to make it through the day was too much.
Here i am . Finally upgraded to the 8+ and overall. I am very dissapointed.
So. i would like some input on what changes you have done, as well as apps running, how much you use the device, your daily connections. and so on.
i have:
Bluetooth always on, connected to my Gear S2
Location services always on
I am a big social media junky, on FB, and IG, not too much of Snapchat.
I use Line to talk to my group that i game with
I play Transformers Earth Wars, about 15 minutes at a time a few times a day.
Do not use bixby
Screen display is set at Amoled Cinema, HD resolution, auto brightness is turned off stays between 30-60%
Very Rarely use WiFi
Google apps do not auto Update
USB Debugging
3 gmail accounts linked, sync is off
Anything else just ask,
So after my 8hr shift of work, my phone is at about 40%, my Note4 on would almost make the whole day, i would get to about 20%, then i would switch batteries.
I am not happy with the battery. Just seems like for no reason it is draining.
Comment below, let me know your setting, impressions, and so on.......... Maybe im doing something wrong and dont realize it.
Well your first problem is all the social media apps, pretty much all of them just destroy battery life. When your not using those apps I would put them to sleep.
You need to monitor which apps are draining the battery. You can do this through the stock device mait. app. Once you find out which apps are causing the drain we can go from there.
I use standard mode, screen on WQHD, sync always on, all data no wifi, screen at 50 % or higher. No social media apps, I use the browser for those.
Here's some screen shots of battery life, this is and average battery cycle, I have reached over 9hrs of Screen on time (SOT) and 1.5 days in previous cycles.

Believe it or not sometimes that consumes more battery life having to open the app every time vs just letting it run in the background. Probably not true with social media apps but it's worth a try. You may also want to try a package disabler app from the play store to disable apps you don't use that run in the background. I use BK package disabler.

Battery Drain

Ever since I updated to 8.1.0 with December security patch, I've noticed my battery draining faster than normal. I was getting 4-5 hours of SOT with around 45-50% battery left. This was after being off the charger for 12-16 hours. Now I'm getting about half the SOT at similar numbers. Anyone have any ideas?

Excuse my stating the obvious, but you need to find what process or app is using the battery. You should be able to get a rough idea just using the new features under Settings>>Battery. It will identify which apps are using the most juice. Run the phone in Safe Mode to see if your battery life goes back to normal. It could also be a service like Google Play Service which sometimes wigs out and starts chewing battery. Are you rooted? If you need more detailed information there are battery drain apps available to help isolate the problem (BBS and GSam). These apps require root to give the best results.

Not rooted and currently locked. I've downloaded GSAM and have adb permissions and it simply says things like Chrome, RCS Phone and Play services. If you see from the photos below you can see what I'm talking about. Chrome currently isn't that bad, but yesterday and the past couple days it's been like 9% or more of the battery.

Two things: I've never seen phone or kernel use that much battery. On one page phone usage is 33 seconds, yet it used 9% ? I think RCS is running the background all the time. See if you can toggle it to not run in the background under Settings>>Apps>. High kernel I'm guessing is a kernel wakelock or multiple. You've probably loaded app(s) that are creating the problem, but you need to find out which one is causing the wakelocks. There is a wakelock detector "lite" app that doesn't need root but I don't know how well it works. I know the root version works well. Lastly, on the first screenshot with the battery, scroll to the bottom of the page and see which apps are listed there. I'd be willing to bet if you ran the phone in Safe Mode, your battery drain would disappear, meaning your user apps are causing it.

Well in safe mode my drain is gone so I'm not sure which app is doing it, but to directly answer your question about the RCS it is an overall app meaning it is related to several Google play services. I'll upload a photo of it. I have to reboot into normal mode.
Edit: I'm wrong about that it was the play services.. I'll have to start uninstalling the apps to determine which one is draining the battery I guess.

RCS can be a real battery hog, but I don't know why. I don't have RCS on AT&T. Do you use Messages as your primary SMS? Open Settings>>Advanced and see if you can toggle off "Enhanced Features". Open properties and check if it is using battery optimization. If it is not, set Messages to battery optimization. You can always turn these back on later if the battery drain remains.
My battery life has been restored to pretty much the same as it was with 8.0. I also noticed poor battery life after installing the 8.1 update, even though they changed the way battery life is estimated with this update (supposedly). Something just felt off, but now everything feels great! I am fairly certain what changed is installing the Greenify Magisk module and/or the Google play services doze module (this enables battery optimization on the Google play services app). Not sure which one really made the difference because I installed them at the same time. However, there is definitely a major difference!!

I am fairly certain what changed is installing the Greenify Magisk module and/or the Google play services doze module (this enables battery optimization on the Google play services app). Not sure which one really made the difference because I installed them at the same time. However, there is definitely a major difference!!

In my experience that's really good.
Before 8.1 I noticed about 11% per hour during screen on use and about 0.33% per hour while on stand by in my pocket or a little bit better if it's just sitting on my night stand not moving while I'm sleeping (I think doze is more extreme in that situation) which seems to match what you are getting. Based on that screen shot I think that's like 8 hours screen on time over like 35 hours for a full charge. I've done a little bit better but not much. That's excellent battery life.
Since 8.1 it has dropped. Best now is maybe 7 to MAYBE 7.5 hours over maybe 26-28 hours. In my experience battery life always drops after an update but this case is far from the worst. I remember when my Nexus 5 updated from KitKat to Lollipop. The battery drop was awful and to make matters worse the battery life of the Nexus 5 was pretty bad to begin with.

So in my last reply I thought I was wrong about RCS Phone app being a conglomerate of several apps in the phone. For some reason I couldn't find the information I needed at that time. I wiped my phone and started over after posting this thread. I was trying to isolate the misbehaving app. I thought it might have been greenify actually, but no the drain has returned to a lesser extent though. Here's some photos of this RCS app from GSAM.

I'm not sure what is causing the drain at this point. I've installed Better Battery Stats to locate the wakelocks so I can ignore them through ADB.

Have you tried disabling RCS ? (Post #6). BBS is good for idle drain, active drain not so much. It's best run overnight without touching the phone for 8 hours or so. Pick the phone up in the morning and create/save a log file as quickly as possible. Post the log to the BBS thread if you need help deciphering.

I cannot disable it since it is comprised of multiple apps. You can see it in the pics on my last post.

Anyway to stop this horrendous battery drain?

I have wifi/bluetooth scanning OFF. What else could it be?

I'm not sure on this one....you have to have an app somewhere that is killing your battery. My phone normally gets almost a day and a half easily. With Wifi and bluetooth constantly on, watching YouTube videos, and even screen sharing to my TV. Go through your Apps and find the culprit that is killing your battery.
go back to stock, watch drain for a couple hours install an app, rinse and repeat until you find the culprit.
Here, personalization service uses the GPS the most, but I don't know all the related Samsung apps that depends on it.
Same problem here, i dont use too much my phone, not gaming, not videos, just social Network and the telephone dont reach the 5 1/2 hrs screen time, most of the time is on standby, the WORST battery of all my phones in years.
Those with battery drain issue, are you guys using the Exynos version? Mine is Exynos and the battery drain is crazy since day one
Try this, it doubled battery life for me, especially since I spend the majority of my time connected to WiFi.
I'm using the Exynos version and not noticing abusive battery drain.
wifi will off mobile

technically, when you connect to WIFI, mobile data will not be used.
Except you turned on the use Mobile Data if Wifi connection or signal is slow/weak option
I had the same problem... Multiple factory resets and setups later, same problem. Was ready to return the phone because System was using WAY more battery than Display and I was averaging 2.5-3 hours SOT to 5% battery. Found someone suggest Bixby problems in another thread, disabled all Bixby related apps and now battery drain is gone, regularly getting 7-8 hours SOT with no problems.
Additional screenshots (first battery screen is before, second is after disabling all Bixby junk)

Going to try this and get back to you, thank you so much for sharing
Bixby doesnt even show up in battery usage. Should I still be concerned. I Bixby voice is disabled but routines and the Bixby homescreen is still enabled.

One interesting thig I see in you first(high use) screen shot is the amount of battery used by adguard, where as in the subsequent image it doesn't even show up.
Because all traffic runs through adguard, battery stats are skewed when running it. It tells you this when you first activate it. I wasn't using it when trying to isolate my battery troubles, but I'm back to using it 24/7 and still get 7-8 hours SOT, so it wasn't the cause.

Bixby Voice Wake-Up was a huge drainer for me. Find it in apps, doesn't show up on battery stats page, but when you pull up app stats, it'll show how much battery it's used since last charge and for me it was crazy high.
This phone has had the best battery life by far of any I've owned. I'm on the US version unlocked straight from Samsung, using on T-Mobile network. Use it all day at work, been at work playing games and making fantasy football moves on my phone all morning for the past 6 hours and am still at 75% (and my battery widget that uses the system algorithm says I still have 14 hours remaining at my current usage level), and I use Always On Display on ALL THE TIME. Has to be related to an app or something. I will say though that I installed sideActions and disabled all the Bixby packages (along with several other Samsung-specific packages) since day 1 using CCSWE App Manager. I'm not a light user, either - I have Nova Launcher, several KWGT dynamic widgets, Tasker, AutoInput, etc...
Do ensure you have battery optimization turned on.

This was directed towards the OP who IS having issues... some people are having issues, just because you aren't doesn't discount other people's problems.

Do you have any other apps you have disabled or frozen using CCSWE and can share the list please?
Disabling those Bixby apps helped a bit with my drain.
