Android 2-DIN Headunit (BT, WiFi, GPS) - Connected Car

hey!
I just recieved my new android headunit for my car.
just wanted to share my experiences so far, i did not have the time to fit it into my car until now.
the CPU seems to be a RockChip RK3066 and not the RK3188 stated in the descriptionn in aliexpress.
but anyway its seems to be fast enough.
- root was possible with KingRoot (4.8.0), will try supersu-me
- CopilotLive Europe (offline-Navigation) works, hat to pull the apk from my phone though.
- soft-bricked the device once already :cyclops:, restore was easy with a backup image on microSD.
- nova launcher (prime) works
- android seems to be pretty much stock
- google play store works, some apps cant be loaded though, i guess its DPI-related...
i will keep you updated on FM, installation and so on.
plus i will post my own images soon.
thinking about installing a 2,5-jack-port for an external microphone ... what do you think?
cheers!

Does that model have its own gps ?
Have you tired tether 3g connection with it ? Works fine ?
Google play store works on stock ? Or gotta be rooted ? Also, google maps works fine ?
Thank you very mych

most of your questions were answered in my original post.
gps - yes, including external antenna.
3g tethering - you mean use you phone as a WiFi-Hotpot? No, havent tried that. the unit is still on my desk
play store works, just some apps are being blocked. for some i was able to transfer the apk from my phone to the unit.
hope this helps a little!

OK sorry for my late answer.
there are 2 firmware-images available, the newer one does not work for me (doesnt flash/boot)
my current problem is BT-related as well, the headunit cannot find ANY bluetooth device... tried phones, tablets.... nothing.
it seems the BT is not really embedded in the chipset but connected through some non-standard-interface, so no hardware-detection-tool recognizes a BT interface.
I have contacted the seller about this issue but got no response until now.
maybe thats what you get when you buy directly from china

hello
i've the same problem , no bluetooth , no communication with the seller (deals machine)
firmware bug
interference radio/music
i open a dispute on paypal .... the seller propose $30 (it's not a joke )
---------- Post added at 09:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:01 AM ----------
i add i m very disappointed because a product with android it's simply to use (when it's functional

i need to know if someone can to register or post here
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=712024&st=520
maybe they know the problem of the bluetooth , or know where is the parts ( maybe i can to change it .....)

nobody ???/

ii have been following the thread on 4pda wor a while, of course just through the google translator so i cannot post anything and registration does not seem to work for me.
but basically the sound quality cannot be improved due to a hardware design fault.
maybe a solution turns up some day, i for myself decided not to worry about this anymore. the money is gone but i was already expecting something like this but gave it a shot.
one more thing @caraudio30000: you are too impatient. if anyone reads your posts and has something to say, he or she will answer. trust me. cheers!

none yet, its going (if BT works again) in my 2001 skoda ocavia combi (1u5).
it has nothing but speakers and power, so no fancy steering wheel, AC or seatheat controls.
flashing the new april upgrade right now, keep your fingers crossed

so i think there is 2 threads for the same device, the one over at android auto seems to be a better option as it is easier to find for new folks.
this is why i suggest going here:

i dont know how to close this thread, if an admin reads this please do so.

有中国人吗

Rockchip Rkpx3
Just bought a Rockchip Rkpx3 (Chinese car Android Player) yesterday from a local car accessories seller in Dhaka, Bangladesh. They imported it from China but the box doesn't have any name or logo and the seller said it's non-brand. However, when I connected to wifi with mobile hotspot and signed-in with my google account, playstore recognized it as Rockchip Rkpx3.
Long story short, although I had suspicion about the quality and longevity of the product which cost me about 200USD, after installation it seemed to work just fine. All the features including bluetooth, g-maps, wifi, cd/dvd playback, usb to android phone connectivity, external micro-sd, aux etc. works all good. I bought a rear camera as well with the player and that works fine too.
Android 5.1.1 (doesn't have any upgrade option though)
I didn't root and probably will not root in the future.
Don't know much about the firmware and stuff though as neither the box nor the user manual has much written on it except the features and which icon does what. Yes built-in gps works fine with g-maps and voice navigation was perfect. Although not possible for me to use the stock navigation app because Bangladesh's map (navigation purpose) is not available anywhere in the Internet LOL!!
All together, money well spent I must say. Was playing youtube all the way to work this morning

Utilising the Adreno130 Graphics on the Hero

So as it says i wish to utilise the Adreno130 graphics like the legend utilises the adreno200
Taken from egl.cfg (Legend [Adreno200] )
Code:
# One line per configuration, of the form:
#
# D I TAG
#
# D: display (0: default)
# I: implementation (0: software, 1: hardware)
# TAG: a unique tag
#
# The library name loaded by EGL is constructed as (in that order):
#
# /system/lib/egl/libGLES_$TAG.so
# /system/lib/egl/lib{EGL|GLESv1_CM|GLESv2}_$TAG.so
#
0 0 android
0 1 adreno200
As you can see it uses a cfg to use the adreno200, Is there no way of changing it and the drivers so the hero does the same?? Im no developer so i really need help!

only edit egl.cfg
Code:
0 0 android
0 1 qcom
to
Code:
0 0 android
0 1 adreno130
EDIT: Then you definitely must add adreno files also
Note that the differences between 200 and 130 can be quite large.
While 200 is considered as a separate GPU unit, the 130 is integrated into the CPU I believe.
While legend and newer uses KGSL for rendering triangles, we unfortunately still use hw3d. I believe this is due the GPU/integrated differences.
Maybe it is of any help...
Should this improve the gfx performance on our Heros?
Ooh it got moved! Thanks!
I think it may speed up a little but now im thinking the drivers will have to be made,
dont think it'll be easy...
Ill search through other Adreno 130 device rom's to see if i can find one that already uses them
...EDIT...
Adreno 200
A quantum leap in graphics quality from the OpenGL-Es 1.x, the Adreno 200 GPU has a unified shader architecture that makes maximum use of its graphics processing power. Developers can use this GPU to implement high-end effects that were previously impossible.
Dont think it will be possible after looking on the qdevnet site
bonesy after reading your thread I thought I would check this out a little and stumbled upon a thread over at simply android. looks like some devs working on the moto cliq had the same idea as you and they have been trying to contact qualcomm about this, doesn't look too promising at the moment but they are trying so maybe something will come out of it.
http://www.simply-android.com/discussion/833/mod-opengl-es-1.1-for-motorola-cliq/p9
Thanks for that, i will keep an eye there i managed to currupt my HD last night so it may take me a while to get back all the stuff..Hopefully they will have has a response by then!

awesome! is it possible to port ?
lol, they have everything working (stable) for their Legend. They are lucky !
Can't we take some fixes (Bluetooth, Wifi and so on...) from their build or from CM9 ?
Legend is ARMv6 too .. they say they have : 24) Hw Acceleration (Stock Gallery, Live Wallpapers, Video, Youtube, Google Maps App, etc.). Could that be made for the hero also or Legend has GPU ?

I'm sorry but it is not ARMv6. It is ARM11.
Specs as per gsmarena:
Chipset Qualcomm MSM7227
CPU 600 MHz ARM 11
GPU Adreno 200
So, no! HW accel is running for them because they have the hacked drivers from Qualcomm which are released and working only with Adreno200. We have Adreno160. No HW accel!

And what about Bluetooth, Wifi and others tweaks ?
borice,
nope, their bt and wifi fixes most likely wont help you guys. other tweaks they uses (as long as they pertain to fixes that are universal across phones) could possibly be used though, such as build.prop entries, etc.
also im downloading that legend rom right now to see if i cant get it working for heroc, if it works for heroc then it will most likely work for hero gsm.
I tried to get camcorder working on our camera driver, but it crashed whenever I tried to record something. I don't think that the problem lies in tha camera. It's rather the same reason that YouTube doesn't work and so on.
yup no love on heroc with the legend stuff
stritfajt,
thanks for your continued work on this. does the camcorder use gpu/hw acceleration while trying to record? im wondering if the reason legend got camcorder going because they have the adreno200 libs and a real gpu instead of our situation. please bare with me, im talking out of my rear end. i have no clue the code that makes cam/camcorder tick.
also, figured i'd tell you again, you are awesome. :good:

Then how is it working on wildfire, which has NO GPU?
i thought there were 2 different wildfires, one with gpu and one sans gpu? wildfire s has adreno 200, and im not sure about the regular one.
by the way, did anyone seem to notice that buzz has working youtube? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473344
im pretty sure the buzz is the wildfire without gpu, i downloaded the rom and upon initial glance see nothing to do with adreno 200
edit: currently harvesting the crap out of libs from buzz to see if i cant get youtube working, wouldnt that be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet, but dont get hopes up
edit 2: (best one by far on my part) boys and girls, YOUTUBE IS GO. I REPEAT, YOUTUBE IS GO!
ill upload the libs and build.prop from the buzz to take entries from, sweet jeebus its really happening!
edit 3: zip is attached, i included a copy of the youtube apk, i havnt tried one from the market as i just installed aokp and forgot to flash gapps, also build.prop from my aokp heroc is attached with relevant entries
if anyone decides to include this, please give all credit to erwinp at the buzz forums, he fixed it, not i
Is it a flashable fix?
hero/heroc flashable zip added, go ahead and flash it (after nandroid backup if your worried about losing anything) and see if it works for you
youtube apk is not in this zip, so install it from market
also gles from buzz is included, im not sure if it will work with our hacked up 1.1 gles, ill see about that and get back to you guys

I just tried and I could not get my wifi to work. So I reverted back.

I confirm, wi-fi isn't working. Also, no synapse (and no support of it if installed from google store), no new governors, no zram in standard performance setting. And with this kernel there's only 721 MB of RAM instead of 722 MB RAM in stock! Where's my precious 1 MB of RAM? Is it gone forever? No way! I'll restore you from recovery, my dear, come to papa!
But it's booting and seems stable. A good work anyway, thanks bubor!
updated new one:
38ac4f4657e7ce60b34a4dada67235f6 gk_1.2-i927.zip
I dont know what with wifi, try to disable wifi from rom before updating.
My i927 has many issue, but wifi stable with this kernel
Factory reset, install cm-11-20140315-UNOFFICIAL-i927.zip, gk-1.2, and wifi work.
What rom do you use?

Ok, wi-fi works, camera works, OC to 1.2 Ghz works, I see new governors (testing Intellidemand at the moment, people say it should be less battery consuming than interactive), the only thing else I wish from kernel is a bit more RAM (819 MB in LiteKernel was great, but it caused camera to bug and wake lag, maybe there is a compromise?). Thanks to bubor once again!
Fast Charge support
Any chance you can add a patch to the kernel? This would add Fast Charge support.
This patch is for another device but it looks clean enough that it can be applied to ours without much work.
https://github.com/bruce2728/android_kernel_htc_pyramid/pull/1.patch
There was fast charge on LiteKernel, but it was removed for some reason. Maybe it was unstable.
Btw, I just restored an old backup of CM 10.1.3 (it's 4.2.2 ROM), flashed LiteKernel and... Asphalt 8 is working! Hey, I tried everything for couple of days to make it run on different ROMs, with different caches and apks, and the only thing that game needs is a bit more RAM? What a crap...
Is there also a chance of increasing RAM on grakernel? Sorry for my humble asking, I'm just a fan of Asphalt series, from the first game back on Symbian... I know you're doing dev work in leisure time and I'm Ukrainian with 130$ monthly salary, so can't even donate, but I very appreciate all your work here.

better use zram. Litekernel simply decreases reserved ram. Its very easy to implement to this kernel, but I think there is reason to reserve 280M memory.
Put ramhack version here: http://dualhoki.vim.hu/bubor/dev/grakernel/gk_1.2-i927-ramhack.zip

But not for me. The only way I managed to launch Asphalt 8 is that 4.2.2 android with LiteKernel. When I flashed back "stock" kernel from kick buttowski, Asphalt said me: no more! I even tried to manually close every service and program and turned on zRAM yesterday. Still crashes on launch and even doesn't show me an error message.

Interactive governor works as it should, smooth and stable, there was no new issues, the kernel is solid when used from the box. The only thing is the need to change CPU max clock from 1320 (default) to 1000 Mhz (this should be default I think).
But I caught wi-fi bug again - I turned it off, used my phone for a some time, and after that it doesn't turn on until reboot. Still I can't find what causes this problem. May be it's somehow related to deep sleep, because I never encountered this when the phone is on charge (the phone never goes to deep sleep on charge).
And thank you bubor and grtsarav for your help! I managed to launch that Asphalt 8! Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I downloaded apk again (not the latest 13081 version, but previous 13051), downloaded cache for third time and it launched even without ramhack. It seems that latest version of Asphalt 8 on google store is simply broken on our device.

MTCE_MX2_v2.94_1, cortex-a53 px5-userdebug 8.0.0 - Hardware buttons stopped working?

Hi,
Newbie - first time post. I've hit a bit of a wall - I've bought a Seicane px5(1024*600) Android 8.0 on 4Gb/32Gb 8 core coretex-a53. I've had some issues with Bluetooth pairing (and still do with the ELM 327 OBD II dongle) but after a factory reset it seemed to behave itself. The only downside is the hardware buttons on the facia (its a merc slk 200 type facia) are now not working! navi, setup, BT, 1-6, power etc all not responding. I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to the hardware side of these android head units - am I missing some sort of interface APK that helps the hardware buttons talk to the android OS?
I'm starting to get a bad feeling - I purchased from seicane direclty and so far, the support feels like one guy doing it after he gets back from the factory...
For ref I took some pics and a video of the issue - any hints? Is there an app that will show the hardware interfaces connected (I could ssh in and look at the gubbins if I root it I guess?)
ah - newb - can post link... darn. Oh well, heres the system details...
I believe it MTCE_MX2_V2.94_1 on 8 core 64-bit coretex-A53 @ 1.5Ghz
px5-userdebug 8.0.0 OPR5.170623.007

i have some PM from guys with my previous smartphone who ask me if A50 is good choice, so ... here is my answer after a little week of use my, may be people who hesitate to buy it will find this post useful :
My model : i have bought the one with 4G RAM / no nfc ( 250€ only ! ) i was thinking RAM would be far enough, but when i have seen all apps samsungs pre install .... => if you dont want to debloat it's better to buy the 6G Ram model. After debloat 4G ram is enough for me
Screen : the oled screen is big and beautiful, i really enjoy it
speed : after this debloat and disable animation ( in dev settings ) the UI is very fast , before that i had slight stutters
sound : internal spaker is bad for music, but it was not a surprise for me, i always use a bluetooth speaker or my bose headphones. With dolby atmos enabled in Sound\advanced : the sound is really good in my headphone
Samsung rom : it's my first samsung device, I usually use custom roms, so for me there is far too much apps that i don't need...
BUT after this debloat i must say the rom is really good not really need custom rom ! a lot of usefull tweaks who improves the daily use.
the black theme is beautifull. the Blue light filter can be fully customized (opacity, start time, end time ) . AlwaysOnDisplay can be programmed to be disabled the night (so it drain less battery ). Samsung gesture is fine and can be enabled instead of navbar. easy switch (call , sms , data ) when you use 2 simcard.
Camera : i like it. quality is good. My wife use it for selfies ( :crying: ) and love the "show hand feature" to take a selfie
Battery : after debloat and disable AOD the night ( AOD drain near 1% per hour ) , the battery is good. I would say a little bit less that my previous device ( moto z play ) but it was a battery monster. And A50 screen is bigger and cpu faster, so it's ok, enough
Fingerprint scanner: epic fail from samsung (have not they tested? ) , you can still use it but with me accuracy is bad, even if it's a little bit better after april update and with that or that . Even when it works it is so slow ( it is faster to use pattern )
BUT for me it does not matter so much because the face unlock works so fine ! even in a dark room. So i have enable : Screen pattern + Face recognition + Smart Lock + changed screen timeout from 15 sec to 30 sec, and quite happy with that. I rarely need to use screen pattern and nearly have forgotten this bad fingerprint scanner
EDIT November 2019 : Samsung have patched the fingerprint, it's fast now, so not an issue anymore
network some guys seems to complain about 4G speed, no issue for me, i use 2 sims with no problem
XDA / root / Custom Rom : twrp dev is probably abandonned, root is a bit touchy/risky
BUT Samsung ROM is secure and well designed, a lot of usefull tweaks => so for me better to stick to stock for now anyway.
So, Would i recommend A50 ? the answer is "Yes", if you can use face unlock and forget fingerprint. if debloat with adb is in your in your abilities ( or try to root ). And if you don't use internal speaker to listen music. For that price ( the 4G ram model = 250€) it's really a good purchase for a so excellent oled screen / big battery / quite fast cpu / quite good cam / excellent rom. Warning if you need NFC there is a specific model with NFC
The 4GB model was €169 here in The Netherlands a few weeks ago on sale. I think you can't beat that price with any phone not even from Xiaomi. With DNS66 for removing ads and Youtube Vanced I don't even need root anymore. I also de-bloated it via powershell and it's amazing fast.
Just bought an A50 from Carphone Warehouse on contract for the wife. To my great surprise and happiness - it has dual sim enabled and both IMEI's and options all working out of the box. My other phone is a P30 Lite which I'm struggling to get dual sim working on and here she has a working Dual sim out of the box. Life aint fair .
She had a Samsung J5 2017 so shes' used to the Samsung phones and quite likes this one - especially the fact that with 128GB RAM, she's not runnnig out of memory space any more.
