Minecraft operational - Shield Android TV General

I don't know if anyone noticed, but after the marshmallow and latest app update Minecraft is working on our shield TVs. I was able to sideload install from the browser play store. Enjoy the building.

Android Apps vs Amazon Apps

Just a general question:
Do all android apps work on FireTV as long as I sideload them?
Can I assume that apps from the play store are the same as from the amazon store?
I bought the Plex App for android and I don't want to pay full price now for something that I already bought
A lot of apps work fine, but the 3.0.x Twitch does not work so you'd have to get the older 2.5.0 version.
The Amazon versions of Twitch and YouTube suck when compared to the real apps for anyone that has a K400r Keyboard to control the apps with.
Alternatively since the original YouTube app requires Play Services, you can get the YouTube HD MOD and install it on Fire TV without root.
It is on XDA itself.
All widgets do not work at all.
Only the Memory Booster rectangle and a few other things "widgety" will work.

No, not all android apps work on the FireTV.
Some show up wrong because they are portrait mode. So show up fine, but doesn't seem to accept any types of input at all. Some just fail to load.
Guess I will have to try then
You can always get an app that forces the orientation to be landscape so you can run those portrait apps in landscape mode.
Screen Rotation Control from "jubo co" works well, but will need to be set again if you ctrl+alt+delete to reset your Fire TV or when anything else causes your Fire TV to go off like power outages.
Too bad this app don't have a "set on boot" option.

The latest Plex App works fine after sideloading

[Q] BT Sports App APK for Fire TV

Hi, newbie here,
Does anyone know if there is a BT Sports app APK that could be side loaded onto Fire TV?
I have xbmc and have access to BT Sports but I've got access to an BT Sports account login and I'd like to run it separately from Xbmc.
My Fire TV isn't rooted. I've seen what looks like an APK on a dodgy Zip file site that asks for bank details to open it but I'd rather see if there was a free version about.
I'd be interested to here if anyone has managed to configure this set up on their FIre Tv.

Sideloading allows you to install apps to your Fire TV that are not available in the Amazon Appstore. There are numerous apps in the Google Play store that may work on the Fire TV that have not been officially ported over. You can download these apps using online APK downloaders. There are also apps like XBMC, which we will be using in this guide, which are not available on any appstore and can only be installed by sideloading.

But use one of the two apps AFTV Utility or ADBFire to do it much easier then manually...
BT Sport App for Kindle Fire Stick
Hi, Could someone post the current version of the BT Sport Apk (2.11.0) so I can sideload to a Kindle Stick?
I have sideloaded an older version (link on this site) but this no longer works as the App requires an update. BT Sport App forces you to do an upgrade and stops any previous versions working. I assume there is no way to upgrade the app directly from the Fire Stick?
My google play account wont let me download the current BT Sport App version as says I have no devices connected (I have no access to Andriod phone or tablet). I've used APK Pure and APK-dl to download the current BT Sport App from Google play but abdfire fails to sideload (I get an "install failed" error msg). If I try to reload the old version of BT sport this sideloads fine so I know abdfire is working.
I have a Windows 7 PC.
Any help would be appreciated to either get the downloaded file sideloaded or a new link to the file (outside of Google Play) which I can download and try to sideload.
Thanks
If you want I have made a thread about working apps & accessories on the AFTV2 , look here -

Lots of apps for tv box and Fire TV on this site www.apk4.tv
I have bT sport app side loaded and working,it doesn't play nice with fire tv remote,so you have to install Cetus remote and Cetus for tv on your phone and use mouse mode to navigate, but the app works really well, flawless streams in HD

Since the latest update the bt sport app sideloaded on the fire stick now just comes up the message it can't start as it doesn't have access to Google play services. Any one else having this issue?

Same here, can't get anywhere so removed it, will be back to casting from tablet now.
It can be made to work again. Follow the steps here:
http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-inst...amazon-fire-tv-or-fire-tv-stick-without-root/
(You dont need to do the last step for Google Music, unless you really want it).
BT Sport app will then moan about the version of play services being too old, so download and sideload the latest compatible version of play services (For Android 5, arm64, nodpi). As of writing, it would be this:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...s-10-2-98-240-146496160-android-apk-download/
(I actualy think I installed 10.2.91 and not 10.2.98 above but I dont think it will matter)
After installing that, and rebooting box, BT sport would no longer complain but just go to a black screen. Gave up and assumed it wouldnt be made to work... but hey presto worked a treat a few days later when I checked again. Happily watched a game over the weekend.
hello someone can help me with the app Btsport, because I doe everything about to install the services of google play and always show me a error, pleases some help.

Anyone know what the current combination of the 5 files is, I've had no luck getting any version of BT sport to work.
Im using a Kindle Fire Stick 2nd Gen on Fire OS 5.2.4.2
Google Account Manager 511
Google Services Framework 511
Google Play Store TV 8028
Ive tried various versions of both of these but neither work, I receive the update google play services error.
Google Play Services
Google Services Framework
Any help would be appreciated.
The following combination of files will enable the BT Sport app.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...unt-manager-5-1-1743759-android-apk-download/
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...s-framework-5-1-1743759-android-apk-download/
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl.../google-play-store-android-tv-8-0-28-release/
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...s-11-9-51-230-177350961-android-apk-download/
https://apkpure.com/bt-sport/com.bt.btsport
For the above files, version 4.12.1 of bt sport will work. This may help with other google service dependant apps. Install cetusplay on your phone and set it to mouse mode for controls within the app.
It all installed correctly, however, as my BT Sport service is provided free from EE, it won’t work unless the device has an EE SIM card installed.
Presumably that’s that then? Unless anyone knows any way around this?
Looks like the latest by sport won't install on the firestick, anyone have it going or have found a workaround o)

[Q] Google Play & Paid APK on FireTV

Unrooted FireTv on firmware 51.1.5.3_user_515040320 so I wont be able to get be able to get Play Store on it to get it.
Will there be any issues if I were to download the paid apk w/ the chrome extension and side-load it? Will I actually be able run it. I am planning to get Final Fantasy 4 on it to play with controller.

Updated Google play services ?

OK so I've successfully managed to get Google play services, framework, play store (non working of course) and login working on a non rooted firetv gen 2 5.2.4.0 and this is now allowing older games to work within the framework, although some can't login into the Google play.
Google play services however is requesting I update to the latest version and this hasn't yet been successful for me to find a compatible service. This is stopping me playing side loaded games like Dead Effect 2 etc as they require the new service and refuse to run without it being updated.
Has anyone managed to get a new version of play services and Google play to run on a non rooted fire TV ? Or failing that found a way to get side loaded games like Dead Effect 2 to run ?
Any help appreciated

Minecraft for Firecube?

My kids want to play Minecraft on the big screen, is it possible on the Firecube? Can we get Play Store? I searched but it’s looks like a no.
TIA
Minecraft is, or was, available in the Amazon app store. I don't think it was ever made available for the 2nd gen Cube (or 3rd). I just get an app unavailable message if I try to install it from the App store.
If you own it on Android, you can try to sideload the APK from your Android device to the FireTV. I tried it on the Cube, it loaded and got to the Microsoft sign-in screen, but didn't have an account to sign-in to see if I could get further.
I don't think there is a way install the Google Play store on the Cubes. Maybe with root on the 2nd gen but nobody has tried and reported about it.
I understand your kids' desire to play Minecraft on the big screen. As for your question, unfortunately, Firecube doesn't support the Play Store, which means you can't download Minecraft from there. But don't worry, there are still ways to play Minecraft on your TV. You can connect your phone or tablet to your TV via HDMI or a streaming device like Chromecast or Roku. Alternatively, you could get a gaming console like Xbox or PlayStation, which both have Minecraft to download. And if you ever need any help with mods or plugins for Minecraft, be sure to check out modbay.net, it's an excellent resource for Minecraft enthusiasts. Good luck and happy crafting!
