Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 6 (Marshmallow)?
A: Yes, this is Android 6.0.x
Q: What code is Oct-M based on?
A: Starting with Oct-M, we've rebased OctOs on the CyanogenMod 13 code.
Q: What happened to AOSP?
A: All Android code is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Under previous releases, we tried very hard to limit the number of "Not from Google directly" repositories that we used. Unfortunately, issues with devices, the need for Code Aurora Foundation (CAF) repositories for Qualcomm devices, and compatibility issues meant fighting code more often than not. We decided that since the code-base for many repositories were the same across most ROMs, picking a starting point to build the user experience on outweighed the desire to craft code from scratch, or fix broken code to make it work with other changes we already had.
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But XYZ and all the others have...
A: ROM developers build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-M.
Q: Superuser or SuperSU?
A: Team OctOs uses SuperSU and is installed automatically.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file, MD5 file & Open gapps (arm64) linked above
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
Factory Reset from TWRP
Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files
Reboot
The Oct-M ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /data/dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your GApps Provider
The foundation of the Android OS is the fact that is it open-source. We have all code we use internally in the creation of Oct-M available on our GitHub repositories.
Unless otherwise specified, all Oct-M builds use the device's stock CyanogenMod 13 kernel.

Gonna flash the rom tomorrow, seems like a noice rom but is the g4 camera by codeworks included?
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk

Flash it! You'll love the power of the MIGHTY KRAKEN! ? ? As gar as the camera the stock code belongs to LG & I'm sure they have it locked down which would make it impossible. Just like Samsung when the S3 came out. Now, I could be wrong so, if you see a ROM or know of a ROM that has said stock LG camera features please let us know & we'll definitely look into it. Hope you enjoy the ROM, its only the beginning we're always working hard to bring y'all the best yet stable builds.

Hello,
thank you for this ROM. It's performant and not overloaded with features. Battery seems better than usual but I can say more after a few days.
So to my problem:
Sometimes when unlocking the screen it does not respond to touches. I can bring up the shut down menu but not get any reaction out of it.
But the different ways to secure or do not cause it as it happens with any of them (didn't try face unlock).
That was on the latest release version, now on the latest nightly it does not occur as often, I will be able to say more tomorrow.
Please let me know if you need anything to analyse the problem.
I hope you can help me.
Best regards
Kai

As you said, you cannot have AOSP atm. I know the guys back on Xperia SP somehow managed to get AOSP without unlocking Bootloader, but you have to inform yxourself...
You can call your Provider and ask if he can change that configuration...

Getting status 7 error when installing the official release.
Coming from unlocked bootloader, rooted Stock rom, and followed instructions as per OP.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to install some kernel/boot.img before following OP instructions of flashing the ROM?
You must delete the first few lines (starting with 'get.prop') in updater script. Then zip and flash again. Modify updater script with notepad++

(I have the sprint spark SPH-L710T) The only problems I have are is that it says I'm on boost but I'm really on sprint (prob not a problem idk), the camera can't connect, and the rotation is wrong. IDK if the network is actually working though since I need to refill. Great rom though! Thanks

OK are you boost virgin or sprint. And if you are sprint is your phone the L710T. Me and the team have been talking about the spark s3 this morning. And the camera is know about so no need to mention a bug that has been posted.

I have the SPH-L710T Sprint. This rom is great. The only bugs I've found is backwards rotation and IDK if 4G and Data works. I checked and it is set to LTE and I have a signal so I think it works. Thx for your speedy response.

Team OctOs presents Oct-L.
We maintain a current release record and change-log on our website: http://www.teamoctos.com
- Please Do Not Mirror our files without talking to us. We can do that ourselves should we desire to. -
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 5 (Lollipop)?
A: Yes, this is Android 5.1.1
Q: What code is Oct-L based on?
A: Starting with Oct-L, we've rebased OctOs on the CyanogenMod 12 code.
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..
A: ROM developers, including CM, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-L.
Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favourite Android 5 based GApps package
Reboot
The Oct-L ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /data/dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your GApps Provider
The foundation of the Android OS is the fact that is it open-source. We have all code we use internally in the creation of Oct-L available on our GitHub repositories.
Unless otherwise specified, all Oct-L builds use the device's stock CyanogenMod 12 kernel.

Some think that is more stable, less hiccups. Just a preference.
pics (of features) added
need more servers...
Taking a solid 30-40 minutes to download and I have 60mb Speed here I'm Silicon Valley...
Will post screenshots and report back in a bit
First (Rough) impression off the bat
Took about 35 minutes to download ROM from http://www.teamoctos.com
Once I got into TWRP the flash took between 10-15 minutes.... I went ahead and flashed the same 5.1.X gapps i use on Res and Bliss......
Once I got to setup is where I ran into my first IN rom issue.. I BELIEVE the initial APN is messed up because I got the screen (in the attachment), so essentially all i could do was set up my "device" with my first and last name.
After i changed APNs It allowed me to sign into google and everything seems good from there..

Been using OctOS for awhile now. Glad to see a thread here for it.
First experience wasn't so great. CPU usage was always high and things lagged terribly. Wasn't sure what was going on.
About week or so later I clean flashed again with a newer gapps. Runs pretty well so far but not so snappy. Nice none-the-less.

Strange, regarding the download time. Yes the boot time started as a long endeavor on 5.1.x. I can say from experience, the newer test builds have improved a ton with twrp flash speed. Coming soon! As for the other items, I'll ask our T-Mobile testers. Thanks for giving us a try!

Yes we are. Testing is very active behind the scenes. Features + stability is being worked on. We do apologize for the wait. I plan to ask some of my team members today if we can release to our website soon. (All of our g3 builds are back a couple weeks atm)
www.teamoctos.com updated with new builds. Changelog here: http://www.teamoctos.com/category/changelog/
Most notably, data handoff between WiFi/3g/lte much improved.
Milestone 3 release, and here is the changelog: https://www.teamoctos.com/category/changelog/
Downloads also on our website under "Devices Supported." Enjoy! Thanks for looking!
I know this has been asked in a few ROM threads but... do you have wifi calling in this ROM..? I'm looking for a new ROM to come to with decent battery life and performance. I'm on Skydragon at the moment.
Also, can we play with voltages/clockspeeds with your kernel?

Practically not possible to find "working" WiFi Calling in an AOSP/CM based ROM.
Only Stock TMO LG based ROMs can contain the required files- at the moment.

About
MoKee OpenSource is based on the Google AOSP. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.
A small group of people from around the world who are interested in Android launched this project on the 12th of December 2012, and is committed to make this ROM better and better. Like most contributors of open source projects (Omni, CyanogenMod, Slim AOSPA etc), we are doing all these in our free time as our passion…
Since this project is open source, anyone interested can participate in the development (maintain new devices, contribute code etc). Newcomers are always welcomed!
Read here for developer application: http://www.mfunz.com/en/developer-application, you can host your unofficial MoKee builds on our server!

you can use a gapps any of its taste since it is for android 6.0.x
or you can go MokeeCenter after starting rom, there you can download the small gapps integrated into the system and have a lighter and clean rom.
To install upgrade:
Method 1:
just download the complete package via OTA
enter the recovery
only to wipe cache and dalvik (optional, I do not)
install the complete package downloaded via OTA
Method 2:
Download the complete package over the air and go to install update
let install automatically for you
Method 3:
Download only incremental updates
for that you need to donate 30 CNY for the team to release the feature on the device directly
But you can do this update without donation
just go on the site and click below build itself where it is written (upgrade: OTA to MK ...)
