Could You Please Help with a Bizarre Issue after Factory Reset? - Bada Software and Hacking General

I have a Samsung Wave S8500 (running Bada 2.0), which I hadn't used in a couple of years. Now I am selling it, and for security purposes I reset it to factory settings, to erase all data. The thing is, personal information, contacts, old chats etc. on Samsung ChatON persists after factory reset!
I don't even know how on earth this is possible, but I have no way of either manually removing them or deleting the app (because it's a default app).
I could really need some help, in any shape or form.
I thought to try and reflash the phone, but I can't through Kies because it, frustratingly, says that the latest firmware is already there.
I thought to try and install a new firmware with Odin, but for the life of me, everything fails (I can't find a working rom - sammobile .zip files seem to be corrupt, I tried 4 different ones, and others report similar issues)
I googled trying to find a way to "get into the system" and just delete the @$#! ChatON app, but I can't (some mention a program called Trix), but I can't understand how to use it.
Any help at all? Thanks in advance!

First : Odin is for android devices and Wave is NOT an android device
Second : you can use multiloader to reflash your Wave or you can use emergency firmware recovery through kies
Best Regards

Thanks for the input. Kies, as I mentioned, does not allow me to use emergency firmware recovery, because the latest firmware is already there.
I also tried multiloader, but I can't find the roms anywhere. The sammobile .zips are corrupted. If you (or anyone else) is aware of another repository of roms, I'd appreciate it

As i recall....the emergency firmware recovery can be started from kies without even connecting the phone to the usb
You have to enter phone serial number and model then kies will instruct you to press key combo to start download mode
Sorry i don't have a pc to show you the steps but it was really pretty simple
Best Regards

[Q] Factory Reset Note II with Broken Digitizer

I broke the digitizer on my note 2, completely destroying any chance of ever being able to view the screen again. Also, I never set up my note II in android device manager to be able to erase it. I bought a new phone, have no desire to put a new digitizer in this phone, and want to sell it. What are my options?
Samsung dive you tried?
Unfortunately I didn't set up Samsung Dive on my phone either.
You could flash your existing rom (if you know which one you had) through odin.
Only thing you have to do 'blind' is bring device in download mode (with device off...volume down/home/power...wait a bit...volume up....hook to your computer and odin suppose to say 'added').
If you don't know which rom was on it, search sammobile for the latest one and flash it as described...make sure it is a full wipe rom (otherwise your data will stay). I think the roms on sammobile that have the orange Kies symbol next to it are non wipe, the ones with grayed Kies symbol are full wipe, but don't shoot me for that
Another solution to be sure of a full wipe rom is to find a similar one here on the forums and ask in the specific thread.
The phone wasn't flashed...
For 'flashing' a rom through Odin your device would not have to be flashed in the first place.
Flashing in this case just means putting the original firmware back on it.
If you don't know which firmware was on your device give Sammobile a try to find the latest firmware.
Sorry, I meant the phone was never even rooted...

In the following link at post 6 you can find emergency factory reset firmwares which also reset your SD card personal information etc. Unfortunately the links was at hotfile which is not working anymore, but I saw at same thread some users have uploaded them to other servers search the thread starting from last post to first and u will find the links. The thread has installation instructions via odin. After installing browse your SD card via pc at android/data to see if any data of your installed application exist, if not and are only the applications which coming with phone means that your phone reseted successfully
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1915386
For flashing via pc odin you have to go blind as nirak wrote to u earlier for entering at download mode. Follow his instructions to enter download mode and after the instructions of the thread I gave u. Also u have to install first Samsung kies software for the drivers and after to enter at task manager at your pc and terminate all the processes of kies, 4 processes if I remember well because kies don't allows to flash via odin. You need it only for the drivers.

[Q] Problem with Odin / can't flash Bootloader

Hi guys,
hope you can help me with a nasty little problem ..
I got a Chinese Note 2 (GT-N7100_CHN_CHN) from my father in law - he bought a Note 4 just recently. The phone is virtually not usable in Europe, as no Google support is implemented (mail, G+, Maps) and there is no access to the regular Playstore. Also, the only Android available is 4.1.
So I tried to flash a new Firmware (and yes, I'm a noob), and that's were the problems began. I've downloaded this ROM: N7100XXUFNE1_N7100DBTFNE1_N7100XXUFND3_HOME.tar.md5 which is - as far as I could figure out - a more or less "factory" version of a German Android 4.4 ROM. For whatever reason, I was unable to flash it using Odin (I tried several drivers, cables, computers (all Win7/64), disabled virus scan .. no way to get Odin 3.09 to work. It recognizes the phone, but aborts the flash process immediately with just a "1 processes failed" error.
After reading a bit here, I tried to root the phone using Saferoot (worked perfectly), loaded MobileOdin and this ROM to the phone and did the flashing there. This works fine, the phone starts, it has a German interface, is running KitKat .. great. Only issue: The WiFi does not work. As I figured out from this forum, I need to install either a WiFi patch or a new Bootloader (I've downloaded BL_N7100XXUEMJ5_1903221_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5 - hope that's the right one).
The problem now is:
Saferoot fails to root the Android 4.4 version - so no root access
MobileOdin does not work without root (and I don't know whether it would be able to flash a bootloader)
Odin 3.09 still does not work with the device
I tried Heimdall, but it does not accept the .md5 files for Odin and I could not find any ROMs in the right format
So I'm running out of ideas what else to try. Could you give me a hint what to to do?
Many thanks,
Scooby
You are saying the phone is chinese and doesn't have support from Google so there is clearly not original phone.
Samsung has not produced that phone so it means the hardware parts are not from samsung and the ROM you are flashing can't be installed.
I read you want to root but I think it is already rooted(try with the app "root checker")
You can't do much with that phone.
Sorry

Hi Manuel,
it's definitely a original Samsung device. Google is simply (virtually) not available in China, so they install a slightly modified Android that points to a local Samsung store instead of playstore, G+ and Maps is not pre-installed ..
As written above, I was able to root it as long as the original Android 4.1.x was installed and I have successfully flashed the new german Kitkat ROM. "Only" Problem right now is that I can't get Odin to work and due to that I can not install the Wifi fix or new Bootloader. And ideas on that?
Thanks
Scooby

Seriously Need Help!!

Hello All,
I have a T mobile samsung SHG-M919 (pre-owned) that I bought fully paid from T mobile store.
here's my journey to current issue:
1. update to Cynogenmod latest version (download in SD card and install through recovery mode) -- Successful
2. work email addition requires encryption - OK, permission granted.
3. after encryption, phone does not reach homepage. reboots again and again.
4. decided to re-install factory firmware through samsung kies.
5. Kies requires S/N for phone and for some weird reasons after refurbishment T mobile did not included this info on battery compartment sticker. there is IMEI, FCC_ID, and everything else but not the serial number.
its not listed on receipt, box, or t mobile customer service records.
Any suggestions on what I can do?
Thanks in advance!!

Elderstahl,
That is quite the problem. However, the fix is pretty simple.
Are you familiar with Odin? Get it here if you don't have it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711451
Use Odin from your computer to flash the firmware from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/general/firmwares-official-mdl-mk2-nb4-t2816508
Be sure to slap their thanks buttons for providing links to all of the downloads.
Once you do that, you will be returned to stock.
If you don't have a windows computer and use Linux, you can also download Heimdall. If you have Heimdall, you can flash a TWRP image from here:
https://dl.twrp.me/jfltetmo/
And boot into recovery, wipe, and install a new rom. Like SlimLP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/development/rom-slimlp-jfltetmo-t3377731
Either way, this should get you up and running. Let me know if you need more help.
Perfect, Worked like a charm.
I am back on factory firmware.
Can not thank you enough!!
Cheers!

Exists any method to get correct PDA, PHONE and CSC just with Downloadmode?

The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini GT-I9195 of my girlfriends son was not responding. He removed the battery and after that it was unable to boot up again. (just vibrating once)
official Samsung Firmware (I think Android 4.4.2, German DBT), never rooted or flashed with a custom rom.
SSN: -I9195GSMH
FCC ID: A3LGTI9195
S/N: R38F30RYMLK
Recovery is not working, only Downloadmode
Kies says: "Initialization and Updating of Firmware is not supported for GT-I9195"
I would prefer to flash the same firmware with odin again without increasing the knox or flash count. Maybe there are some pictures left on the internal memory. It would be nice to not overwrite them.
Exists any method to get the correct PDA, PHONE and CSC Versions?
On sammobile.com are many possible canidates. Is it risky to try one by one, until everything works?
Any other suggestions?
Is it possible that the reason for the problem is a damaged eMMC?
Thanks for any help
First flash any ROM for your smartphone using Odin. Then is the best way is to install Samsung KIES for your smartphone and then choose upgrade your firmware from there where you will input your serial nummber of your phone and it will download the latest original firmware for this particulare smartphone...

Odin gets stuck at initialization
I tried to flash following firmwares from sammobile.com:
I9195XXUBML4_I9195YBTBNA2_DBT
I9195XXUCNE6_I9195OXACNE6_DBT
I9195XXUCNJ4_I9195OXACNJ4_DBT
I9195XXUCNK4_I9195QXZCOA1_DBT
I9195XXUCNK4_I9195YBTCNL3_DBT
I9195XXUCOA2_I9195OXACOA2_DBT
I9195XXUCOE4_I9195OXACOE1_DBT
There are more listed, but only these German DBT Versions are available for download.
Odin always gets stuck at initialization.
Flashing environment:
Odin 3.11.1 and 3.12.5 (also as Admin)
short Cable (which never made problems)
USB-Port at the back side
two different Win10 Computers (one with Kies, one only with Samsung Phone Drivers)
Kies processes stopped
AVG Antivirus stopped
Any suggestions, what I could do else?
Try an older Odin. Version 3.07 or 3.09
Odin still gets stuck at Initialization
With Odin 3.07 and 3.09 i have the same problem.
Another idea? Google did not help me with this yet.
I don't know if from linux OS and with Heimdall could help you to succeed to flash your stock ROM...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have same issue.
@Beutomaster: I have same issue like you, it happened this weekend.
Now I am stuck on "initialization" in Odin3.
I tried oficial firmware and TWRP recovery with same result.
Phone is not important for me, but data (SMS, contact, calendar) are.
If you or somebody else have any idea... Please, thank you in advance.
Data Recovery
@SirSlayerII: If the partition is not encrypted and you have not already overwritten it, there are some possibilities to recover the data. I'm not shure if TWRP has a function to dump the data-partition to a sd-card. Maybe ADB or another recovery could help. Otherwise you have to use JTAG. I'm not an expert with android, but for me it seems to be a tricky operation. If the data is very important to you a data recovery service may be the better option.
I had some problems building a heimdall-firmware-package out of the sammobile-packages. (Filenames not matching) Because the son of my girlfriend needed his device, i gave up flashing a new firmware and changed the board against one of a device with a broken display.

Bricked Galaxy A3 2017

Hello everyone, I decided to root my phone today. First I enabled OEM unlock and then installed TWRP, no problems with that. Then I tried to install CF autoroot through recovery and everything seemed fine. When I tried to boot up my phone it said something like integrity check failed and I had to do a factory reset to be able to even start the phone. I did not do that but tried to install official samsung oreo firmware through odin but it won't install, just fails. Then i got other error message saying "an error occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software". The only thing I can do now is enter download mode and nothing else but odin does not let me flash anything. I'm desperate here so any suggestion would be great. Model is SM A-320FL btw. Sorry for my english and lengthy post

What kind of error do you get in Odin?
Is it the one that says something like "SW Rev. check fail"?
If so than for me it worked to flash the bootloader and modem of Oreo and the after that i reinstalled the OS without any problems.
First it was just a red fail for BL, CSC and those other things and later it just won't even start. When I try to install TWRP it goes to half and stays there. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Was your device from a carrier, if so, try to flash the firmware that your device came with. If you can't solve this, PM me, so that we can try to resolve this on Telegram, Discord etc. :highfive:

Thank you for the reply, I don't think it was from carrier, when I tried to flash firmware I downloaded latest firmware from my current carrier so I think that shouldn't be a problem. I'll contact you tomorrow because i'm just too tired now. And update, I can flash TWRP now if that is of any help.
It is solved now, thanks everyone for your help

Hi. Glad to see you got this sorted, but it may be useful for other users to see what you did to resolve this.
Yes, how did you solved that.
Looking at two A320F I found one difference:
One has AP SWREV B:2 K:0 S:0
the other one (that makes trouble): AP SWREV B:3 K:1 S:1
What exactly does it mean.
Flashing with Odin gave me erros (on device, Odin just say "failed") depending on flashing BL (SW Rev Check failed )Bootlader Device: 3, binary: 2 , while flashing AP gives Kernel Rev check fail.
So, how to go on? I was able to flash TWRP, but not Stock (neither an old 6.0 nor 8.0).
Ok, solved it. Flashing stock will probably only work to same or newer versions, not for downgrade (at least not without any special tricks that I don't know).
After downloading the latest stock FW , odin passed.
Now I still have the problem, that I can't transfer data partion from one A3 to another one.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78062070&postcount=71
My first error was that I downloaded wrong firmware for my phone and because of that odin gave me errors. Second error was that I tried to wipe data through advanced wipe, but I needed to format it by pressing format data button. After doing that I was able to flash official stock ROM, install TWRP and root my phone. User MartinYTCZ helped me greatly with this, big thanks to him again. :victory:

Can't you backup your internal storage on PC or SD card, contacts, messages, phone calls, settings on samsung account and apps and data with titanium backup? When I flashed stock ROM I lost all data from my phone so be careful with that.
