Does TWRP Need Unloked Bootloader? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have D855TR installed 20n stock firmware. I want to flash custom rom(Not AOSP or CM! I will flash Lollipop Stock Based ones, NOT MM! )
My question is I need to unlock bootloader to flash twrp? Can I use Flashfire or Flashify?

ROM to use with TWRP

Hi there. Any ROM, stock or not, of the last 5.1.1 to flash it with TWRP?

ROOT LG G4 H815x20A/B/C/D International

Hello Guys
Yesterday i recieved my brand new LG G4 H815.
I updated trough OTA that installed MM on my phone v20d EUR.
Then i used LGUP to flash back to v20c,install TWRP 3.0 and install a custom rom called Mokee running android 6 Marshmallow, and a custom kernel from Llamasweet.
But now my question...it does not have root acces!how can i root it with supersu?
i flashed supersu trough twrp but i was in a bootloop
Bootloader is unlocked and running a custom rom...i did unlocked the bootloader AFTER ota upate to v20d
Flash a Lollipop kdz then follow rooting instructions before installing a Marshmallow rom.
Wrong secton .
But u nead to flash a custom kernel to be able to boot a rooted system
Mokee might have root options in developer menu(settings)
Which one supersu have you flashed?
Poslano sa mog LG-H815 koristeći Tapatalk
Well,i flashed Llamasweet kernel again and then supersu 2.5x and now it just works.Great. Now i know a custom kernel is required, but does mokee rom not have a custom kernel inbuilt?
But i also found u need the right bootloader with software version? thats why i flashed v20C over v20D.were this the right thing to do? those custom roms are not showing what version it is...i dont get it

Help please for a noob question.

Hello all developers, I have a noob question, please guide. I have ZenFone 2 running on stock android 5.0 and it is rooted. Now I have to flash custom roms and mods but also want to update stock Rom to android 6.0 whenever ASUS provide updates. So I have a simple idea as below -
1) Install flashify app.
2) Take backup of stock recovery.
3) Flash CWM.
4) Take nandroid backup.
5) Now I can flash custom roms.
6) When ASUS provide updates, flash nandroid backup.
7) Flash stock recovery through Flashify.
8) Full unroot from supersu.
Thus my phone will be fully stock and I can update stock Rom to android 6.0 .
Will this trick work; please tell. I am eagerly waiting for your replies.

you have to unlock bootloader if you want to flash custom rom !!!
if you unlock bootloader with official tools. you cant receive any update from asus with OTA. but you can flash full stock rom with twrp via sideload or edit stock rom zip then install with twrp.
somebody can unlock bootloader without official tools (i dont try) and they can update OTA

Thank you very much for the information. Btw, can I make changes to stock Rom without unlocking bootloader and revert back to fully stock phone when OTA comes with the above method ?

Possible to flash custom rom via Flashfire on locked bootloader? See video inside

I know the answer is 99% NO but still how did this person do it? Does the galaxy use a different "kind" of bootloader that allows this?

has anyone with a rooted (but locked bootloader) G4 actually tried the latest flashfire with a G4 custom rom like resurrection?
I tried lollipop genisys and its way faster

You can install Roms with locked bootloader.
I have CamUIX installed, which is based on the original rom.
I am not 100% sure but I know that you can not install custom roms which use a different kernel (any cm rom).
So it wouldn't be very useful :/
By the way, the rom in the Video is also a Touchwiz based rom
Sure you can... You can flash ANY rom that is compatible with stock kernel... Locked bootloader is only about signed boot.img and recovery.img not about system.img
oh interesting.. is there any custom G4 roms that uses stock kernel? i'm hesitant beacuse i have a h812 which has a locked bootloader and none of the roms that i see say that they can flashed for h812
it looks like genisys: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/bl-lock-ul-android-6-0-marshmallow-t3459260 uses stock kernel..? will it work on my H812 if i flash with flashfire?
You can flash custom system images ONLY also on lollipop ONLY. Boot.img and recovery must be signed by lg to load with locked bootloader, they obviously arent so cant do a single s**t really.
