The black one looks stunning!

My heart is ready for the taking?! Don't disappoint me, HTC...

For me at the minute I am very drawn to the silver back with black front. hamdir told me in his main thread, he plans to produce some new renders and produce the gold version as well, which I would be keen on seeing! He has to fix some issues with his renders first!

Am i mistaken or are there no stereo speakers anymore? That would be a huge bumper.

It was confirmed yesterday that HTC boomsound will be included.

So most likely a dual speakers configuration again but with the bottom speaker facing down. My only concerns about this setup is when holding the device in landscape mode, wouldn't the bottom speaker be a bit muted by the palm of your hand?...

Oh nice to hear. Well I personally never used the speakers while in portrait mode. I most often put the phone on a surface and just let the music play.

Shouldn't be too bad, you'd have to cup your hand pretty tightly around that speaker to really hurt the sound.
As time goes on, I'm getting increasingly excited about not having on-screen softkeys, or the option to disable them
Always been a fan of off-screen buttons, though phone designers seem to disagree with me :crying:

I much prefer capacity button too, like on the m7. On screen button are wasting screen space, gives you the false illusion that the phone size/screen size ratio is better.

I agree I always preferred off screen buttons over on screen buttons because the screen is small enough to begin with and I don't want the buttons making it even smaller.

Buttons would be on either side of fingerprint scanning (an area which was formerly all bezel or speaker); screen is actually slightly larger than M9.

Took a try on this Reiko Case with kick stand

I love it
fits perfectly
only problem is it covered up the red led
so u would need to drill a small hole for it to show throw
but the kickstand is great
has raised edges so your screen will be protected in drop or a slide across the concrete
come in variety of colors, but I got red/black

How's the case with accessing the edge of the screen, like pulling down the notification bar, soft buttons and dragging icons or widgets to other home screens?
I had the seidio active case on my inspire 4g and it was a pain trying to drag stuff to a new homescreen because the case was so close to the edge of the screen.

yeh i used to have a sedio and it was tough too
but see the siedio border goes straight up
where you see the red part its like at an angle(not straight up),so you can hit all the sides of the phone
pull down is easy
the case comes real close to the captactive buttons below, but you can easily tap above it to hit the buttons
I saw this for 10 bucks on ebay and was wondering if it was decent quality. I should have picked it up but picked up a tough case for 20 instead

Looks nice but I don't like how close the bottom comes to the capacitive buttons. Mine are the most sensitive toward the bottom so I think I'd be hitting the case all the time.

yeh i mentioned that, but you can actually hit slight above the buttons, and it'll still registered. The sweet spot is not limited to the height of the buttons. (also that piece thats close to the buttons as well is slightly angled so you can overshoot the button easily (and still make contact with button to work)
But its sturdy and actually the selling points for me was the color combo, and the kickstand
Great find! I've been on the market for a case with a kickstand and really like the look of this one. Does the stand also allow you to place it in landscape? Or does it only stand it up in Portrait?
It looks nice. A landscape kickstand would have been better for me but definitely not a deal breaker. May go ahead and try this one out.

I got this on ebay n absolutely hate it. it makes the phone so big and bulky it's practically a brick now. the bottom piece of plastic is too close to the buttons andt you can you can barely press then sending it back tomorrow

One X Build Quality Issues

Decided to start to start a new thread for people to discuss any build quality problems with the One X as I feel a little underwhelmed with mine. The power button doesn't seem to have any feedback click and only seems to register input if you press it hard, the screen surround has a bit of excess plastic sticking out on the top left side that I keep catching my finger on and the phone flexes and creaks when pressure is applied in certain areas (when held to my ear during a conversation creaks like an old bed!).
Is anyone else getting these problems? I might send it back as the creaking during phone calls is driving me nuts :/
good idea ill post this here too
just wondering anyone with the white version suffering from suspected hardware/build quality problems?
maybe they rushed the grey we didn't even see the final retail version until very late

color? where is it made?
Mine is made in Taiwan. In the past the UK has normally got Taiwanese HTC phones and the rest of the EU having Chinese made ones. But as this is a new model, the initial batches may all be from Taiwan. I would expect Taiwanese made handsets to be slightly better in terms of quality.
I don't have any creaking or bits of unfinished plastic. Mine is white. I do see a couple of tiny imperfections in the white plastic. One is like a tiny grey dot. And the other is a tiny hole. But I am being very very fussy to notice this.
I do wonder how durable this polycarbonate surface is...if you rub at it to clean it, does it take the matt finish off making it shiny? (xperia S is AWFUL for this)
very good ,up you !!!

Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I've a grey one that I picked up from t-mobile store. I've put on a different thread the issue I have with screen ripples on the side when pressure is applied but its actually much worse as what has happened is that the phone screen pops in and out of the casing in the top right and left corners and noticeable can be pushed and clicked in. Phone hasn't even been in my pocket yet...Will be swapping it out then.

Is the screen loose as if its not been glued properly because that's how my one is. But yeah I get a creaking and clicking noise

Yeah it's as if the screen hasn't been fixed correctly. Mine also has those screen artifacts when pressing in the top right. Feels like the screen is loose.
Received my grey one x today.
the phone works like a charm only there is one big issue with the camera
everywhere I aim it the screen gets covered with red stripes. Now I don't know much about camera's but this is not good
dl . dropbox . com/u/71154395/IMAG0017 . jpg (i'm new here so can't post a pic)
This does not appear on the front camera so i guess its hardware issue with the back camera?
What do you guys think? should I return the phone?
Not good to hear build issues
I wouldn't expect great build quality from HTC, it'sa never been high for the last few top of the line HTC phones I owned. That was the reason I went with Samsung phones and it was such a change for better, the parts are just put together so much better. It's not about parts quality, but build quality.
Now I'm back to HTC getting One X (replacing G Nexus) but I fear I will see those little things not done right again. Sometimes its creaking case, sometimes it's the screen that has not been put in perfectly in leaving more space between screen edge in one side than the other side, or that dust I used to get under the screen (happened with both phones).
I think the most annoying thing is all the reviews harped on about how the One X has premium build. Hoping I'll get a replacement that's better put together than this one!

Maybe they were all "sponsored".
Mine (White) has no squeaking/creaking issues. The glass seems to be solidly attached to the body.
I do have a problem with the finish of the polycarb body. On the left side of the body, right below the micro usb, there's a small spot in where you glide your finger you will feel some roughness. There's also a tiny tiny hair like specimen which seems to be glued on the body. Its not noticeable so im cool with it.

[Review] Aprolink Shell Standing Case

As promised, I have received the Aprolink case and here's my review:
First, the case comes in a box that transforms into a photo frame but I was unable to check this feature since I have no printed photos in that size. The instructions says that 3x5 inches photo will fit.

Second, the case is BEAUTIFUL! The color I bought is glossy white with red and I think it's adding a nice color to the all-white device.
The color really shows on this photo
The case has EXACT holes and cut outs for the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB port and tiny yet precise cut outs for the microphones (on the top and on the bottom of the device), a nice circle around the camera and flash and a split speaker grill cutout (that does not affect the sound output).
The volume buttons and the sleep/wake button are covered by rubber and are very easy to press. Volume buttons are slightly narrow so that might take a few minutes to get used to.
The case also has a lip so you can lay your phone on the table while the screen is facing down without worrying.
The camera lens are protected as well
IMPORTANT!!
I own an international Tegra3 device so at&t and One XL owners might experience a slight misalignment here and there!
For more colors and some information, Aprolink's official webpage.
they look awesome
Found some photos of the Sensation case (different design, though), still gives a nice overall feeling about the quality of the case:

After checking out the Sensation case in the link above and watching several videos of their iPhone cases I was very impressed by Aprolink's products and I have decided to order the case.
I guess this could take a while since the seller is shipping from Taiwan.
If no one else will do it before me, I'll upload some photos and a review when I'll receive it.
*Edit: Review added on 1st post.

The lens are almost on the same level with the case so it's not that simple to catch on photo. It's not as protective as an Otterbox but according to photos it provides protection that competes with Case-Mate's Tough case.
Anyway, here's the photo:
If you want a shot from different angle I can try to catch it. A picture of the desired position (with a different case) might help as well.
Hmm it's more of a cutout than protection then. The cutout on my Rock Magic Cube has a 2mm lip that surrounds the lens, offering great scratch protection. Also, the cutout on mine is alot smaller, surrounding the actual lens diameter, not the bigger silver circle around it.
Oh well, thanks for the pic

Nice case, aside from the aprolink logo on the back being slightly skewed.
I was previously using the official HTC C700 hard case, which looks great, but is so damn slippy. This case just sticks to your fingers and makes one handed operation much easier.

Can you post some photos too? I'd like to see it in "real life". Especially since the red one which I have is slightly different shade of red from the one in the promotional photos.
On a side note, I have to agree about the ease of operation with the case. Definitely a case that was manufactured with functionality in mind and not that cheapo feel of various no-brand cases.

Yes, you can stick any card as long as it's approximately 5.3cm long and it fits right in. Credit cards are great for that cause
A card is not included with the case.

Here it is in black/gray. The gray glows in the dark.
On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a six or seven. The black is glossy and picks up swirls and scuffs easily. It holds the phone fine but there's a small amount of up and down movement. The button you push for power is pure show because when you push it all you're doing is pushing the flush inside of the case downward until it hits the power button. You get used to it though. The slot you stick a credit card in is very shallow - you need a thick unbending card for it to really stay in place and support the phone. Even then, using the touch screen without holding the phone with one hand will move the phone and knock the credit card out. It's really tippy in portrait mode. Overall I'd rate it good, not great.

Gap in between screen and frame

Has anyone noticed a gap between screen and frame. I have found a small gap on the front top (front side) . I'm afraid that dirt and/or humidity could enter at this place. After watching the teardown video on the YouTube. It looks like the screen is a little bit smaller than the frame for engineering tolerance and easier desassembly.

It could be for engineering tolerance and easier disassembly. But It could be possible by heating up only the edge. Dont need to heat the middle part. Actually he starts disassembling from the edge.

What is the giant bottom bezel for?

What is the function of the bottom bezel if navigation buttons are on screen? obviously Google would have made the screen bigger or phone smaller if the bezel was just blank space... so what is its function then?

I like the bottom bezel. I know I'm the minority though.
On my Nexus 6P, the bottom of the screen is too low to reach comfortably, in my opinion.

Wish they would have went with the rear of the HTC 10.
Or just a phone with very rounded corners. Possible they just like the style. Antennae array is in the back under the glass I heard so that seems different then the other HTC phones. The camera is at the top but in the corner also.
Waiting for a device break down and we will see how close it is. I do not really care for the large Bezels either but I suppose they have a reason.

I agree, I'm currently using a 2014 Nexus 6 and the thin bottom bezel makes it so I have to reach too far downward to press the on screen nav buttons, which makes for very uncomfortable use
Judging by hands on reviews of these Pixel phones, it looks like the big bottom bezel keeps the users thumbs in alignment with the nav buttons, which probably leads to more comfortable use, especially when using the phone in one hand.
I agree they could of done more with the bottom bezel, like add a speaker or something. Hopefully they at least made good use of that space internally

The Pixel is built off of the HTC A9 frame, HAS to be. Just look at the damn thing.
?
Here is the Pixel when some leaks first started to happen. The two sensors have been moved but their the same size and shape. There is also a little blur down at the bottom, might be covering a button of some kind.

You are right, they do look similar in some ways. Judging by the comparisons picture that I added to this post, the bezels are thinner on all sides of the Pixel phones when compared to the A9. The sensor window is the same shape but seems to be a little bigger on the Pixel.
The backside of the Pixel is obviously different and if you turn the Pixel sideways, the Pixel starts out thin on the bottom and becomes thicker at the top, which the A9 doesn't.
So there are some differences and if they did start out with a A9 template then Google modified it to their own liking.

Who knows. As long as it feels good in the hand I don't care.

I agree, just thought I would point out some differences just in case some people didn't notice any between the two

I'm waiting to buy it after the masses already get theirs and some trusted reviews post videos. I'm waiting for MKBHD and Flossy Carter.

Good idea, I hear people are already doing unboxing videos today, so reviews shouldn't be too far away.
Edit - Turns out those unboxing videos are old and not from today, my bad.

Comparison videos are what I really want to see. MKBHD is a little too focused on the camera on any phone, while Flossy actually buys the devices he reviews, and always compares them to whatever else he has.
If you haven't seen his stuff, you should watch his Real Reviews, which are like 45 minutes to an hour...and hilarious. Plus, he's a huge black dude from New York.

I like the bottom bezel. I know I'm the minority though.
On my Nexus 6P, the bottom of the screen is too low to reach comfortably, in my opinion.

This makes sense and makes me feel better about justifying it

You know you could buy the device yourself and have 30 days to return it for a full refund right? Why let others influence your decision... the phone isn't going to be bad by any means, so there is nothing to worry about there.
